We consider the problem of being -definable for an uncountable model of a c-simple theory in hereditarily finite superstructures over models of another c-simple theory. A necessary condition is specified in terms of decidable models and the concept of relative indiscernibility introduced in the paper. A criterion is stated for the uncountable model of a c-simple theory to be -definable in superstructures over dense linear orders, and over infinite models of the empty signature. We prove the existence of a c-simple theory (of an infinite signature) every uncountable model of which is not -definable in superstructures over dense linear orders. Also, a criterion is given for a pair of models to be recursively saturated.  相似文献

For a cardinal , we say that a subset B of a space X is C -compact in X if for every continuous function is a compact subset of . If B is a C-compact subset of a space X, then (B, X) denotes the degree of C -compactness of B in X. A space X is called -pseudocompact if X is C -compact into itself. For each cardinal , we give an example of an -pseudocompact space X such that X × X is not pseudocompact: this answers a question posed by T. Retta in Some cardinal generalizations of pseudocompactness Czechoslovak Math. J. 43 (1993), 385–390. The boundedness of the product of two bounded subsets is studied in some particular cases. A version of the classical Glicksberg's Theorem on the pseudocompactness of the product of two spaces is given in the context of boundedness. This theorem is applied to several particular cases.  相似文献

When we apply the affine scaling algorithm to a linear program, we usually construct an artificial linear program having an interior feasible solution from which the algorithm starts. The artificial linear program involves a positive number called the big. Theoretically, there exists an * such that the original problem to be solved is equivalent to the artificial linear program if > *. Practically, however, such an * is unknown and a safe estimate of is often too large. This paper proposes a method of updating to a suitable value during the iteration of the affine scaling algorithm. In this paper the problem for improvement of the Delsarte bound for -designs is investigated. Two main results are presented. Firstly, necessary and sufficient conditions for improving the bound are proved. We define test functions with the property that they are negative if and only if the Delsarte bound D(phmmat;, ) can be improved by linear programming. Then we investigate the infinite polynomial metric spaces and give exact intervals, when the Delsarte bound is not the best linear programming bound possible. Secondly, we derive a new bound for the infinite PMS. Analytical forms of the extremal polynomials of degree + 2 for non-antipodal PMS and of degree + 3 for antipodal PMS are given. The new bound is investigated in different asymptotical processes for infinite PMS. When and n grow simultaneously to infinity our bound is better than Delsarte bound.  相似文献

We consider an M/M/ model with m primary servers and infinitely many secondary ones. An arriving customer takes a primary server, if one is available. We derive integral representations for the joint steady state distribution of the number of occupied primary and secondary servers. Letting =/ be the ratio of arrival and service rates (all servers work at rate ), we study the joint distribution asymptotically for . We consider both m=O(1) and m scaled to be of the same order as . We also give results for the marginal distribution of the number of secondary servers that are occupied.  相似文献
