SIMULATION OF TYPHOON’SANOMALOUS TRACK(Ⅱ)──CD METHOD

Contour dynamics (CD) method for the motions of typhoon is presented in this paper. The effect of asymmetric inner structure on the typhoon’sanomalous track has been discussed in different environmental steering. Todemonstrate the feasibility of the method, the track of Typhoon Yancy(9012) isconcerned with. The numerical results show that the method can describe the tendency of looping qualitatively.

SIMULATION OF TYPHOON’S ANOMALOUS TRACK (Ⅰ)──RANKINE VORTEX MODEL

This paper proposes a method for simualting symmetric and simulating symmetric and asymmetric typhoonby using Rankine vortex model. Considering similarity between tropical cyclone andthe Rankine vortex,the paper has qualitatively discussed the feasibility of the methods In order to decide quantitatively Rankine vortex’s parameters to simulate typhoon’s structure, the paper has dealt with TCM data.for Yancy Typhoon (9012) as initial fields.. These results are considered as a foundation for further studying typhoon motion by CD approach.     

BOUNDARY ELEMENT METHOD FOR SOLVING DYNAMICAL RESPONSE OF VISCOELASTIC THIN PLATE(Ⅱ)──THEORETICAL ANALYSIS

In this paper, the necessary theoretical analysis for the approximation boundary element method to solve dynamical response of viscoelastic thin plate presented in [1] is discussed. The theorem of existence and uniqueness of the approximate solution and the error estimation are also obtained. Based on these conclusions, the principle for choosing the mesh size and the number of truncated terms in the fundamental solution are given. It is shown that the theoretical analysis in this paper are consistent with the numerical results in [1]. Project supported by the National Natural Science Fundation of China     

ANALYSIS OF FINANCIAL DERIVATIVES BY MECHANICAL METHOD (Ⅱ)-BASIC EQUATION OF MARKET PRICE OF OPTION

The basic equation of market price of option is formulated by taking assumptions based on the characteristics of option and similar method for formulating basic equations in solid mechanics: hv ₀(t) = m ₁ v ₀ ^–1(t) – n ₁ v ₀(t) + F, where h, m ₁, n ₁, F are constants. The main assumptions are: the ups and downs of market price v ₀(t) are determined by supply and demand of the market; the factors, such as the strike price, tenor, volatility, etc. that affect on v ₀(t) are demonstrated by using proportion or inverse proportion relation; opposite rules are used for purchasing and selling respectively. The solutions of the basic equation under various conditions are found and are compared with the solution v _f (t) of the basic equation of market price of futures. Furthermore the one-one correspondence between v _f and v ₀(t) is proved by implicit function theorem, which forms the theoretic base for study of v _f affecting on the market price of option v ₀(t).

FINITE ELEMENT METHOD ON NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF STRATUM CORNEUM''''S PENETRATION PROPERTY

How the outer substance could penetrate through the skin lies in the stratum corneum, because it is the main barrier in the multi-layers of the skin. Supposing the keratin cell with a special geometry as tetrakaidecahedron, the penetration property of stratum corneum was the key problem which was numerically simulated with finite element method. At first the discretization of the stratum corneum region was given in two steps: first, the discretization of the keratin cell; second, the discretization of fattiness that surrounds the keratin. Then there was the work of numerical simulation. In this procedure, the finite element method and the multi-grid method were used. The former was to obtain the discretization of basic elements; the latter was to decrease the high frequency error. At last the visualization of the numerical simulation was shown.

THE MULTIGRID METHOD FOR RESERVOIR SIMULATION

This paper describes a way of solving the reservoir simulation pressure equation using multigrid technique.The subroutine MG of four-grid method is presented.The result for2-D two-phase problem is exactly the same as that of the SOR method and the CPU time is much less than that of the latter one.

ON THE APPLICATION OF ADI METHOD TO NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF THE MARANGONI CONVECTION CONTROLLING IN LIQUID BRIDGE MODEL

An ADI scheme is suggested to simulate the Marangoni convection controlling with emphasis on investigating application of the technique numerically. Numerical experiments conducted in the present paper turn out both successful and efficient. Hence, ADI scheme is expected to be extended to the study of other convection processes related to material manufacturing.     

NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF INSECT FLIGHT

In the non-inertial coordinates attached to the model wing, the two-dimensional unsteady flow field triggered by the motion of the model wing, similar to the flapping of the insect wings, was numerically simulated. One of the advantages of our method is that it has avoided the difficulty related to the moving-boundary problem. Another advantage is that the model has three degrees of freedom and can be used to simulate arbitrary motions of a two-dimensional wing in plane only if the motion is known. Such flexibility allows us to study how insects control their flying. Our results show that there are two parameters that are possibly utilized by insects to control their flight: the phase difference between the wing translation and rotation, and the lateral amplitude of flapping along the direction perpendicular to the average flapping plane.     

ANALYSIS OF FINANCIAL DERIVATIVES BY MECHANICAL METHOD (Ⅰ)-BASIC EQUATION OF PRICE OF INDEX FUTURES

Similar to the method of continuum mechanics, the variation of the price of index futures is viewed to be continuous and regular. According to the characteristic of index futures, a basic equation of price of index futures was established. It is a differential equation, its solution shows that the relation between time and price forms a logarithmic circle. If the time is thought of as the probability of its corresponding price, then such a relation is perfectly coincided with the main assumption of the famous formula of option pricing, based on statistical theory, established by Black and Scholes, winner of 1997 Nobel’ prize on economy. In that formula, the probability of price of basic assets (they stand for index futures here) is assummed to be a logarithmic normal distribution. This agreement shows that the same result may be obtained by two analytic methods with different bases. However, the result, given by assumption by Black-Scholes, is derived from the solution of the differential equation.     

APPLICATION OF SUBREGION FUNCTION METHOD IN THE METHOD OF WEIGHTED RESIDUALS

In this paper,a new concept of subregion function method is suggested.According tothe boundary shape and the stiffness and loading conditions of the structure,the originalzone of the structure is divided into some subregions,in each of which different trialfunctions may be adopted.Conditions of compatibilities between subregions are considered.Finally residual equations consisted of interior residuals,boundary residuals and co-boundary residuals between subregions are given.A numerical example to illustrate the theory of this method is given.     

THE SINGULAR PERTURBATION METHOD APPLIED TO THE NONLINEAR STABILITY PROBLEM OF A SHALLOW SPHERICAL SHELL(Ⅱ)

In this paper we consider the nonlinear stability of a thin elastic circular shallowspherical shell under the action of uniform normal pressure with a clamped edge.When thegeometrical parameter k is large,the uniformly valid asymptotic solutions are obtained bymeans of the singular perturbation method.In addition,we give the analytic formula fordetermining the centre deflection and the critical load,and the stability curve is also derived.This paper is a continuation of the author’s previous paper[11].
