In the category Cgp of convergence groups, the continuous dual Γ c ( ·) is a left adjoint and takes colimits to limits in Cgp. In general, limits are not taken to colimits. In this paper we show that, if we restrict ourselves to limits of topological groups, then reduced projective limits are carried to inductive limits in Cgp. As a consequence of this we show that the inductive limit in Cgp of locally compact topological groups is reflexive if it is separated.   相似文献

A Polish group G is called a group of quasi-invariance or a QI-group, if there exist a locally compact group X and a probability measure μ on X such that (1) there exists a continuous monomorphism ? from G into X with dense image, and (2) for each gX either g?(G) and the shift μg is equivalent to μ or g?(G) and μg is orthogonal to μ. It is proved that ?(G) is a σ-compact subset of X. We show that there exists a Polish non-locally quasi-convex (and hence nonreflexive) QI-group such that its bidual is not a QI-group. It is proved also that the bidual group of a QI-group may be not a saturated subgroup of X. It is constructed a reflexive non-discrete group topology on the integers.  相似文献

An endomorphism h of a group G is said to be strong whenever for every congruence θ on G, (x, y) ∈ θ implies (h(x), h(y)) ∈ θ for every x, y ∈ G. A group G is said to have the strong endomorphism kernel property if every congruence on G is the kernel of a strong endomorphism. In this note, we study the strong endomorphism kernel property in the class of Abelian groups. In particular, we show that a finite Abelian group has the strong endomorphism kernel property if and only if it is cyclic.  相似文献

In this article, we show that for every abelian subgroup H of a Garside group, some conjugate g ?1 Hg consists of ultra summit elements and the centralizer of H is a finite index subgroup of the normalizer of H. Combining with the results on translation numbers in Garside groups, we obtain an easy proof of the algebraic flat torus theorem for Garside groups and solve several algorithmic problems concerning abelian subgroups of Garside groups.  相似文献

Using the nice properties of the w-divisible weight and the w-divisible groups, we prove a factorization theorem for compact abelian groups K; namely, K = K tor  × K d , where K tor is a bounded torsion compact abelian group and K d is a w-divisible compact abelian group. By Pontryagin duality this result is equivalent to the same factorization for discrete abelian groups proved in [9 Galindo , J. , Macario , S. ( 2011 ). In this paper, we present a general method to prove the complete conver- gence for arrays of rowwise strong mixing random variables, and give some results on complete convergence under some suitable conditions. In this paper we prove that the lateral completion of a projectable lattice ordered group is strongly projectable. Skorokhod's representation theorem states that if on a Polish space,there is a weakly convergent sequence of probability measures μnw→μ0,as n →∞,then there exist a probability space(Ω,F,P) and a sequence of random elements Xnsuch that Xn→ X almost surely and Xnhas the distribution function μn,n = 0,1,2,... We shall extend the Skorokhod representation theorem to the case where if there are a sequence of separable metric spaces Sn,a sequence of probability measures μnand a sequence of measurable mappings n such that μnn-1w→μ0,then there exist a probability space(Ω,F,P) and Sn-valued random elements Xndefined on Ω,with distribution μnand such that n(Xn) → X0 almost surely. A finite group G is called a Schur group, if any Schur ring over G is associated in a natural way with a subgroup of Sym(G) that contains all right translations. Recently, the authors have completely identified the cyclic Schur groups. In this article, it is shown that any abelian Schur group belongs to one of several explicitly given families only. In particular, any noncyclic abelian Schur group of odd order is isomorphic to ?3 × ?3 k or ?3 × ?3 × ? p where k ≥ 1 and p is a prime. In addition, we prove that ?2 × ?2 × ? p is a Schur group for every prime p.  相似文献

The numerical method is proposed in this article to solve a general class of continuous-time linear programming problems in which the functions appeared in the coefficients of this problem are assumed to be piecewise continuous. In order to make sure that all the subintervals of time interval will not contain the discontinuities, a different methodology for not equally partitioning the time interval is proposed. The main issue of this article is to obtain an analytic formula of error upper bound. In this article, we shall propose two kinds of computational procedure to evaluate the error upper bounds. One needs to solve the dual problem of the discretized linear programming problem, and another one does not need to solve the dual problem. Finally, we present a numerical example to demonstrate the usefulness of the numerical method.  相似文献

The property of Dunford-Pettis for a locally convex space was introduced by Grothendieck in 1953. Since then it has been intensively studied, with especial emphasis in the framework of Banach space theory.

In this paper we define the Bohr sequential continuity property (BSCP) for a topological Abelian group. This notion could be the analogue to the Dunford-Pettis property in the context of groups. We have picked this name because the Bohr topology of the group and of the dual group plays an important role in the definition. We relate the BSCP with the Schur property, which also admits a natural formulation for Abelian topological groups, and we prove that they are equivalent within the class of separable metrizable locally quasi-convex groups.

For Banach spaces (or for metrizable locally convex spaces), considered in their additive structure, we show that the BSCP lies between the Schur and the Dunford-Pettis properties.

Let (G,u) be an Archimedean norm-complete dimension group with order-unit. Continuing a previous paper, we study intervals (i.e., nonempty upward directed lower subsets) of G which are closed with respect to the canonical norm of (G,u). In particular, we establish a canonical one-to-one correspondence between closed intervals of G and certain affine lower semicontinuous functions on the state space of (G,u), which allows us to solve several problems of K. R. Goodearl about inserting affine continuous functions between convex upper semicontinuous and concave lower semicontinuous functions. This yields in turn new results about analogues of multiplier groups for norm-closed intervals.  相似文献
