Methods for the synthesis of six types of pyrroloquinolines with various types of ring fusion and their chemical properties are reviewed.

The nomenclature and the synthesis of hetarylcyanamides and their reactions that take place at the cyanoamino group are discussed.     

Triazolo- and Tetrazoloisoindoles. (Review)

Data on methods for the synthesis of derivatives of triazolo- and tetrazoloisoindoles and their chemical characteristics are reviewed. The data from quantum-chemical calculations of some structures are presented. Possible practical applications of the compounds are indicated.     

The Pfitzinger Reaction. (Review)

Published data on the Pfitzinger reaction and its modifications, leading to quinoline-4-carboxylic acids, are reviewed, analyzed, and classified.     

Metallocanes of group 14 elements. 1. Derivatives of silicon and germanium. (Review)

Results on the synthesis of silocanes and germocanes, eight-membered heterocycles with the general formula D(CH₂CH₂Z)₂MXY are analyzed and classified. The chemical behavior of these compounds and the characteristics of the element-nitrogen transannular bond are studied. Dedicated to Prof. E. Synthesis of Photochromic Dihetarylethenes. (Review)

The main methods of synthesis of dihetarylethenes are given in the review. Approaches for obtaining photochromic compounds are discussed, in which both the traditional residues of perfluorocyclopentene, maleic anhydride, and maleimide, and little-studied fragments of partially saturated or aromatic heterocycles are used as the ethenic fragment. Significant attention is paid to the X-ray structural data of open and cyclized forms of the photochromes.
