Study of n-butane pyrolysis at high temperature in a flow system allows measurement of the sum of the rate constants of the initiation reactions and of the Arrhenius parameters of the reactions Established data for k1/k2 allow estimation of k1 for 951°K and this, with recent thermochemical data, yields the result log k?1 (l.mole s?1) = 8.5, in remarkable agreement with a recent measurement [20] but over si×ty times smaller than conventional assumption. The product k3k4 (l.2mole?2s?2) is found to be associated with the Arrhenius parameters log (A3A4) = 21.90 ± 0.6 and (E3 + E4) = 38.3 ± 2.7 kcal/mole. These values are much higher than would be e×pected on the basis of low temperature estimates. Independent evaluation gives log A4 = 10.5 ± 0.4 (l.mole?1s?1) and E4 = 20.1 ± 1.7 kcal/mole, hence log A3 = 11.4 ± 0.8 (l.mole?1s?1) and E3 = 18.2 ± 3.2 kcal/mole. These values are shown to be entirely consistent with a wide range of results from pyrolytic studies, and it is argued that they further confirm the view that Arrhenius plots for alkyl radical–alkane metathetical reactions are strongly curved, in part due to tunneling and, appreciably, to other as yet unidentified effects. Since there is published evidence that metathetical reactions involving hydrogen atoms show even greater curvature, it is suggested that this may be a characteristic of many metathetical reactions.  相似文献

The complex-forming CH + H2 --> CH2 + H reaction is studied employing a recently developed global potential energy function. The reaction probability in the total angular momentum J = 0 limit is estimated with a four-atom quantum wave packet method and compared with classical trajectory and statistical theory results. The formation of complexes from different reactant internal states is also determined with wave packet calculations. While there is no barrier to reaction along the minimum energy path, we find that there are angular constraints to complex formation. Trajectory-based estimates of the low-pressure rate constants are made and compared with experimental results. We find that zero-point energy violation in the trajectories is a particularly severe problem for this reaction.  相似文献

The reactions of ten metastable immonium ions of general structure R1R2C?NH+C4H9 (R1 = H, R2 = CH3, C2H5; R1 = R2 = CH3) are reported and discussed. Elimination of C4H8 is usually the dominant fragmentation pathway. This process gives rise to a Gaussian metastable peak; it is interpreted in terms of a mechanism involving ion-neutral complexes containing incipient butyl) cations. Metastable immonium ions ontaining an isobutyl group are unique in undergoing a minor amount of imine (R1R2C?NH) loss. This decomposition route, which also produces a Gaussian metastable peak, decreases in importance as the basicity of the imine increases. The correlation between imine loss and the presence of an isobutyl group is rationalized by the rearrangement of the appropriate ion-neutral complexes in which there are isobutyl cations to the isomeric complexes containing the thermodynamically more stable tert-butyl cations. A sizeable amount of a third reaction, expulsion of C3H6, is observed for metastable n-C4H9 +NH?CR1R2 ions; in contrast to C4H8 and R1R2C?NH loss, C3H6 elimination occurs with a large kinetic energy release (40–48 kJ mol?1) and is evidenced by a dish-topped metastable peak. This process is explained using a two-step mechanism involving a 1,5-hydride shift, followed by cleavage of the resultant secondary open-chain cations, CH3CH+ CH2CH2NHCHR1R2.  相似文献

This paper examines the unimolecular dissociation of propargyl (HCCCH2) radicals over a range of internal energies to probe the CH+HCCH and C+C2H3 bimolecular reactions from the radical intermediate to products. The propargyl radical was produced by 157 nm photolysis of propargyl chloride in crossed laser-molecular beam scattering experiments. The H-loss and H2 elimination channels of the nascent propargyl radicals were observed. Detection of stable propargyl radicals gave an experimental determination of 71.5 (+5-10) kcal/mol as the lowest barrier to dissociation of the radical. This barrier is significantly lower than predictions for the lowest barrier to the radical's dissociation and also lower than calculated overall reaction enthalpies. Products from both H2+HCCC and H+C3H2 channels were detected at energies lower than what has been theoretically predicted. An HCl elimination channel and a minor C-H fission channel were also observed in the photolysis of propargyl chloride.  相似文献

Potential energy surfaces for the reactions of CH4+ with H2, HD, and D2 have been calculated using high-level ab initio methods, including coupled cluster theory, complete active space self-consistent field, and multireference configuration interaction. The energies are extrapolated to the complete basis set limit using the basis sets aug-cc-pVXZ (X = D, T, Q, 5, 6). The CH4+ + H2 reaction produces CH5+ and H exclusively. Three types of reaction mechanisms have been found, namely, complex-forming abstraction, scrambling, and S(N)2 displacement. The abstraction occurs via a very minor barrier and it is dominant. The other two mechanisms are negligible because of the significant barriers involved. Quantum phase space theory and variational transition state theory are used to calculate the rate coefficients as a function of temperatures in the range of 5-1000 K. The theoretical rate coefficients are compared with the available experimental data and the discrepancy is discussed. The significance of isotope effect, tunneling effect, and nuclear spin effect is investigated. The title reaction is predicted to be slightly exothermic with DeltaHr = -12.7 +/- 5.2 kJ/mol at 0 K.  相似文献

We present a theoretical study of the O(3P) + CH4 --> OH + CH3 reaction using electronic structure, kinetics, and dynamics calculations. We calculate a grid of ab initio points at the PMP2/AUG-cc-pVDZ level to characterize the potential energy surface in regions of up to 1.3 eV above reagents. This grid of ab initio points is used to derive a set of specific reaction parameters (SRP) for the MSINDO semiempirical Hamiltonian. The resulting SRP-MSINDO Hamiltonian improves the quality of the standard Hamiltonian, particularly in regions of the potential energy surface beyond the minimum-energy reaction path. Quasiclassical-trajectory calculations are used to study the reaction dynamics with the original and the improved MSINDO semiempirical Hamiltonians, and a prior surface. The SRP-MSINDO semiempirical Hamiltonian yields OH rotational distributions in agreement with experimental results, improving over the results of the other surfaces. Thermal rate constants estimated with Variational Transition State Theory using the SRP-MSINDO Hamiltonian are also in agreement with experiments. Our results indicate that reparametrized semiempirical Hamiltonians are a good alternative to generating potential energy surfaces for accurate dynamics studies of polyatomic reactions.  相似文献

We present a classical-trajectory study of the dynamics of high-energy (5-12 eV) collisions between Ar atoms and the C2H6 and C2F6 molecules. We have constructed the potential-energy surfaces for these systems considering separately the Ar-molecule interactions (intermolecular potential) and the interactions within the molecule (intramolecular potential). The intermolecular surfaces consist of pairwise empirical potentials derived from high-accuracy ab initio calculations. The intramolecular potentials for C2H6 and C2F6 are described using specific-reaction-parameters semiempirical Hamiltonians and are calculated "on the fly", i.e., while the trajectories are evolving. Trajectory analysis shows that C2F6 absorbs more energy than C2H6 and is more susceptible to collision-induced dissociation (CID). C-C bond-breakage processes are more important than C-H or C-F bond breakage at the energies explored in this work. Analysis of the reaction mechanism for CID processes indicates that, although C-C breakage is mostly produced by side-on collisions, head-on collisions are more efficient in producing C-F or C-H dissociation. Our results suggest that high-energy collisions between closed-shell species of the natural low-Earth-orbit environment and spacecraft can contribute to the observed degradation of polymers that coat spacecraft surfaces.  相似文献

Ab initio CCSD(T)cc-pVTZ//B3LYP6-311G(**) and CCSD(T)/complete basis set (CBS) calculations of stationary points on the C(6)H(3) potential energy surface have been performed to investigate the reaction mechanism of C(2)H with diacetylene and C(4)H with acetylene. Totally, 25 different C(6)H(3) isomers and 40 transition states are located and all possible bimolecular decomposition products are also characterized. 1,2,3- and 1,2,4-tridehydrobenzene and H(2)CCCCCCH isomers are found to be the most stable thermodynamically residing 77.2, 75.1, and 75.7 kcal/mol lower in energy than C(2)H + C(4)H(2), respectively, at the CCSD(T)/CBS level of theory. The results show that the most favorable C(2)H + C(4)H(2) entrance channel is C(2)H addition to a terminal carbon of C(4)H(2) producing HCCCHCCCH, 70.2 kcal/mol below the reactants. This adduct loses a hydrogen atom from the nonterminal position to give the HCCCCCCH (triacetylene) product exothermic by 29.7 kcal/mol via an exit barrier of 5.3 kcal/mol. Based on Rice-Ramsperger-Kassel-Marcus calculations under single-collision conditions, triacetylene+H are concluded to be the only reaction products, with more than 98% of them formed directly from HCCCHCCCH. The C(2)H + C(4)H(2) reaction rate constants calculated by employing canonical variational transition state theory are found to be similar to those for the related C(2)H + C(2)H(2) reaction in the order of magnitude of 10(-10) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1) for T = 298-63 K, and to show a negative temperature dependence at low T. A general mechanism for the growth of polyyne chains involving C(2)H + H(C[triple bond]C)(n)H --> H(C[triple bond]C)(n+1)H + H reactions has been suggested based on a comparison of the reactions of ethynyl radical with acetylene and diacetylene. The C(4)H + C(2)H(2) reaction is also predicted to readily produce triacetylene + H via barrierless C(4)H addition to acetylene, followed by H elimination.  相似文献

The gas-phase reactions of two dipositive actinide ions, Th(2+) and U(2+), with CH(4), C(2)H(6), and C(3)H(8) were studied by both experiment and theory. Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry was employed to study the bimolecular ion-molecule reactions; the potential energy profiles (PEPs) for the reactions, both observed and nonobserved, were computed by density functional theory (DFT). The experiments revealed that Th(2+) reacts with all three alkanes, including CH(4) to produce ThCH(2)(2+), whereas U(2+) reacts with C(2)H(6) and C(3)H(8), with different product distributions than for Th(2+). The comparative reactivities of Th(2+) and U(2+) toward CH(4) are well explained by the computed PEPs. The PEPs for the reactions with C(2)H(6) effectively rationalize the observed reaction products, ThC(2)H(2)(2+) and UC(2)H(4)(2+). For C(3)H(8) several reaction products were experimentally observed; these and additional potential reaction pathways were computed. The DFT results for the reactions with C(3)H(8) are consistent with the observed reactions and the different products observed for Th(2+) and U(2+); however, several exothermic products which emerge from energetically favorable PEPs were not experimentally observed. The comparison between experiment and theory reveals that DFT can effectively exclude unfavorable reaction pathways, due to energetic barriers and/or endothermic products, and can predict energetic differences in similar reaction pathways for different ions. However, and not surprisingly, a simple evaluation of the PEP features is insufficient to reliably exclude energetically favorable pathways. The computed PEPs, which all proceed by insertion, were used to evaluate the relationship between the energetics of the bare Th(2+) and U(2+) ions and the energies for C-H and C-C activation. It was found that the computed energetics for insertion are entirely consistent with the empirical model which relates insertion efficiency to the energy needed to promote the An(2+) ion from its ground state to a prepared divalent state with two non-5f valence electrons (6d(2)) suitable for bond formation in C-An(2+)-H and C-An(2+)-C activated intermediates.  相似文献

The initial state-selected time-dependent wave packet approach is employed to study the H' + H(2)O → H'OH + H and H' + HOD → H'OD + H, HOH' + D exchange reactions with both OH bonds in the H(2)O reactant and OH(D) bond in the HOD reactant treated as reactive bonds. The total reaction probabilities for different partial waves, as well as the integral cross sections, which are the exact CC (coupled-channel) results, are first obtained in this study for the H(2)O(HOD) reactant initially in the ground rovibrational state. Because of the shallow C(3v) minimum along the reaction path, the reaction probabilities for the three reactions present several resonance peaks, with one dominant resonance peak just above the threshold. The cross sections for the H' + HOD → HOH' + D reaction are substantially smaller than those for the H' + H(2)O → H'OH + H and H' + HOD → H'OD + H reactions, indicating that the H'/H exchange reactions are much more favored. In the CC calculations, the resonance peaks in the reaction probabilities diminish quickly with the increase in total angular momenta J, resulting in the existence of a clear step-like feature just above the threshold in the cross sections for the title reactions, which manifests the signature of shape resonances in these reactions. In the CS calculations, the resonance peaks on reaction probabilities persist in many partial waves, and thus the resonance structures can no longer survive the partial-wave summation and are washed out completely in the CS cross sections for the title reactions.  相似文献

The reaction C(2)H(5) + HBr --> C(2)H(6) + Br has been theoretically studied over the temperature range from 200 to 1400 K. The electronic structure information is calculated at the BHLYP/6-311+G(d,p) and QCISD/6-31+G(d) levels. With the aid of intrinsic reaction coordinate theory, the minimum energy paths (MEPs) are obtained at the both levels, and the energies along the MEP are further refined by performing the single-point calculations at the PMP4(SDTQ)/6-311+G(3df,2p)//BHLYP and QCISD(T)/6-311++G(2df,2pd)//QCISD levels. The calculated ICVT/SCT rate constants are in good agreement with available experimental values, and the calculate results further indicate that the C(2)H(5) + HBr reaction has negative temperature dependence at T < 850 K, but clearly shows positive temperature dependence at T > 850 K. The current work predicts that the kinetic isotope effect for the title reaction is inverse in the temperature range from 200 to 482 K, i.e., k(HBr)/k(DBr) < 1.  相似文献

The reaction of electronically excited singlet methylene (1CH2) with acetylene (C2H2) was studied using the method of crossed molecular beams at a mean collision energy of 3.0 kcal/mol. The angular and velocity distributions of the propargyl radical (C3H3) products were measured using single photon ionization (9.6 eV) at the advanced light source. The measured distributions indicate that the mechanism involves formation of a long-lived C3H4 complex followed by simple C-H bond fission producing C3H3+H. This work, which is the first crossed beams study of a reaction involving an electronically excited polyatomic molecule, demonstrates the feasibility of crossed molecular beam studies of reactions involving 1CH2.  相似文献

We present a direct ab initio dynamics study on the hydrogen abstraction reactions N(2)H(4)+R-->N(2)H(3)+RH (R=NH(2),CH(3)), which are predicted to have six possible reaction channels for NH(2) abstraction and four for CH(3) abstraction caused by the different N(2)H(4) isomers and various attacking orientations of foreign radical to N(2)H(4). The structures and frequencies at the stationary points and the points along the minimum energy paths (MEPs) of all reaction channels are obtained at the UMP2(full)6-31+G(d,p) level of theory. Energetic information of stationary points and the points along the MEPs is further refined by means of MC-QCISD method. The rate constants of these channels are calculated using the improved canonical variational transition-state theory with the small-curvature tunneling correction (ICVT/SCT) method. The calculated results show that the favorable reaction channels are channels (n1) and (n4) as well as (c1) and (c3) (refer to Scheme 1) in the whole temperature range. The total ICVT/SCT rate constants of all channels for the two reactions at the MC-QCISDUMP2(full)6-31+G(d,p) level are both in good agreement with the available experimental data, and corresponding three-parameter expressions of k(ICVTSCT) in 220-3000 K are fitted as 6.46 x 10(-15)(T298)(3.60) exp(-386T) cm(3) mol(-1) s(-1) for NH(2) abstraction and 1.04 x 10(-14)(T298)(4.00) exp(-2037T) cm(3) mol(-1) s(-1) for CH(3) abstraction. Additionally, the long range interaction between the H atom of X-H bond in foreign radicals and the lone pair on the nonreactive N atom of the transition states is further discussed to explain the various transition-state numbers of the two similar hydrogen abstraction reactions.  相似文献

The tin-containing sulfide Me3Sn(CH2)3-S-C6H5CH3-4 obtained by photoaddition of 4-toluene- thiol to allyltrimethyltin was oxidized with hydrogen peroxide to synthesize the tin-containing sulfone Me3Sn(CH2)3-SO2-C6H4CH3-4, the tin and sulfur atoms in which are separated by a trimethylene bribge. Treatment of the sulfone with butyllithium gave a first tin-containing lithium salt having a red-brown color. The exchange reaction of this salt with methyl iodide resulted in formation of two new isomeric tin-containing sulfones Me3SnCH2CH2CH(CH3)-SO2-C6H4CH3 and Me3Sn(CH2)3-SO2-C6H4CH2CH3 identified by 1HNMR spectroscopy. The latter result implies that the tin-containing sulfone is lithiated both by the methylene group adjacent to the sulfonyl group and by the toluene methyl group.  相似文献

The kinetics and mechanisms for the unimolecular dissociation of nitrobenzene and related association reactions C(6)H(5) + NO(2) and C(6)H(5)O + NO have been studied computationally at the G2M(RCC, MP2) level of theory in conjunction with rate constant prediction with multichannel RRKM calculations. Formation of C(6)H(5) + NO(2) was found to be dominant above 850 K with its branching ratio > 0.78, whereas the formation of C(6)H(5)O + NO via the C(6)H(5)ONO intermediate was found to be competitive at lower temperatures, with its branching ratio increasing from 0.22 at 850 K to 0.97 at 500 K. The third energetically accessible channel producing C(6)H(4) + HONO was found to be uncompetitive throughout the temperature range investigated, 500-2000 K. The predicted rate constants for C(6)H(5)NO(2) --> C(6)H(5) + NO(2) and C(6)H(5)O + NO --> C(6)H(5)ONO under varying experimental conditions were found to be in good agreement with all existing experimental data. For C(6)H(5) + NO(2), the combination processes producing C(6)H(5)ONO and C(6)H(5)NO(2) are dominant at low temperature and high pressure, while the disproportionation process giving C(6)H(5)O + NO via C(6)H(5)ONO becomes competitive at low pressure and dominant at temperatures above 1000 K.

The kinetics of depletion of ground state Ti(a3F) and electronically excited state Ti(a5F) upon interactions with CH4, C2H2, C2H4, and C2H6 are studied in a fast-flow reactor at a He pressure of 0.70 Torr. No depletion of ground state Ti(a3F) was observed upon interaction with all hydrocarbons studied here. Two alkanes, CH4 and C2H6, were also quite inert for depletion of the excited state Ti(a5F), On the other hand, C2H2 and C2H4 deplete the excited state Ti(a5F) very efficiently. Rate constants were determined to be (266 ± 86) and (476 ± 88) × 10?12 cm3s?1 for Ti(a5F) + C2H4 and Ti(a5F) + C2H2, respectively. These large rate constants compared with the ground state Ti were explained by an electron donor-acceptor interaction model that works in the interaction between C2H4 or C2H2 and the excited state with unfilled 4s orbital.  相似文献
