A Banach space is hereditarily finitely decomposable if it does not contain finite direct sums of infinite dimensional subspaces with arbitrarily large number of summands. Here we show that the class of all hereditarily finitely decomposable Banach spaces has the three-space property. Moreover we show that the corresponding class defined in terms of quotients has also the three-space property.  相似文献

This paper deals with extensions or twisted sums of Banach spaces that come induced by complex interpolation and the relation between the type and cotype of the spaces in the interpolation scale and the nontriviality and singularity of the induced extension. The results are presented in the context of interpolation of families of Banach spaces, and are applied to the study of submodules of Schatten classes. We also obtain nontrivial extensions of spaces without the CAP which also fail the CAP.  相似文献

In this paper we discuss necessary conditions and sufficient conditions for the compression of an analytic Toeplitz operator onto a shift coinvariant subspace to have nontrivial reducing subspaces. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for the kernel of a Toeplitz operator whose symbol is the quotient of two inner functions to be nontrivial and obtain examples of reducing subspaces from these kernels. Motivated by this result we give necessary conditions and sufficient conditions for the kernel of a Toeplitz operator whose symbol is the quotient of two inner functions to be nontrivial in terms of the supports of the two inner functions. By studying the commutant of a compression, we are able to give a necessary condition for the existence of reducing subspaces on certain shift coinvariant subspaces.  相似文献

In the first section of this paper, the ordinal space [1, ω] is characterized. Then its quotients are completely described in easy terms. In the second section, the ideas of a well-ordered sum of an arbitrary collection of T2spaces and a Chandelier space are introduced. The Chandelier spaces are obtained by taking compact ordinals and forming their interweaves and well ordered sums and one-point compactification of such spaces. Finally it is proved that the Hausdorff quotients of compact ordinals are precisely the Chandelier spaces. A problem of M. Hu ek on quotients of [1, ω] is thus solved.  相似文献

 We study the relation of to the subspaces and quotients of Banach spaces of continuous vector-valued functions , where K is an arbitrary dispersed compact set. More precisely, we prove that every infinite dimensional closed subspace of totally incomparable to X contains a copy of complemented in . This is a natural continuation of results of Cembranos-Freniche and Lotz-Peck-Porta. We also improve our result when K is homeomorphic to an interval of ordinals. Next we show that complemented subspaces (resp., quotients) of which contain no copy of are isomorphic to complemented subspaces (resp., quotients) of some finite sum of X. As a consequence, we prove that every infinite dimensional quotient of which is quotient incomparable to X, contains a complemented copy of . It is proved that if a Lie algebra of compact operators contains a nonzero ideal consisting of quasinilpotent operators then this Lie algebra has a nontrivial invariant subspace. Some applications of this result to lattices of invariant subspaces for families of compact operators and to structures of ideals of Banach Lie algebras with compact adjoint action are given.  相似文献

A theorem of D.E. Sarason is used to show that all subnormal operators have nontrivial invariant subspaces if some very special subnormal operators have them. Special classes of intertwining transformations between Hilbert spaces are introduced and investigated, whose purposes are to provide partial answers to some classical questions on the existence of nontrivial invariant subspaces for operators acting on separable Hilbert spaces. Let G/H be a semisimple symmetric space. We consider a Dirac operator D on G/H twisted by a finite dimensional H-representation. We show that the spectral radius algebras of certain quadratic operators possess nontrivial invariant subspaces. Additionally, such algebras properly contain the operator’s commutant, so that the invariant subspaces are in some sense beyond hyperinvariant. The spectral radius algebras of idempotents are completely described and, as a consequence, it is shown that every intransitive collection of operators must be contained in a norm-closed proper spectral radius algebra.   相似文献

The κ-productivity of classes C of topological spaces closed under quotients and disjoint sums is characterized by means of Cantor spaces. The smallest infinite cardinals κ such that such classes are not κ-productive are submeasurable cardinals. It follows that if a class of topological spaces is closed under quotients, disjoint sums and countable products, it is closed under products of non-sequentially many spaces (thus under all products, if sequential cardinals do not exist).  相似文献

The twisted T-adic exponential sums associated to a polynomial in one variable are studied. An explicit arithmetic polygon in terms of the highest two exponents of the polynomial is proved to be a lower bound of the Newton polygon of the C-function of the twisted T-adic exponential sums. This bound gives lower bounds for the Newton polygon of the L-function of twisted p-power order exponential sums.  相似文献

We study two rings of quotients of C(X), the ring of continuous functions on the Tychonoff space X. The first, F(X), is the ring of quotients induced by the filter of ideals consisting of dense finite intersections of fixed maximal ideals. The second, C[F], is the ring of quotients induced by the filter of dense cofinite subspaces of X. After some preliminary information we explicitly describe in §2 and §3 the constructions of these rings of quotients. In the third section, we use F(X)and C[F] to define and study the class of h-points and h-spaces. In particular, we show that C-spaces and P-spaces are h-spaces. In the last section we construct an ideal of C(X)which will be used to give an ideal theoretic characterization of h-points. We establish the existence of long homology sequences in the category of quasi-Banach spaces, with values in a certain category of topological vector spaces. We derive from that new results about the structure of twisted sums of quasi-Banach and Banach spaces. Sample result: let A and B be subspaces of Lp, with 0 < p < 1. If Lp/A and Lp/B are isomorphic then so are A* and B*. In particular, if A and B are finite dimensional, then Lp/A and Lp/B are isomorphic if and only if dim(A) = dim(B).  相似文献

We consider a twisted version of the Hurewicz map on the complement of a hyperplane arrangement. The purpose of this paper is to prove surjectivity of the twisted Hurewicz map under some genericity conditions. As a corollary, we also prove that a generic section of the complement of a hyperplane arrangement has nontrivial homotopy groups.  相似文献

The twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra is the universal central extension of the Lie algebra of differential operators on a circle of order at most one. In this paper, we first study the variety of semi-conformal vectors of the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro vertex operator algebra, which is a finite set consisting of two nontrivial elements. Based on this property,we also show that the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro vertex operator algebra is a tensor product of two vertex operator algebras. Moreover, associating to properties of semi-conformal vectors of the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro vertex operator algebra, we charaterized twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro vertex operator algebras. This will be used to understand the classification problems of vertex operator algebras whose varieties of semi-conformal vectors are finite sets.  相似文献
