Existence and regularity of solutions to nonlocal retarded differential equations

In this paper the existence and uniqueness of different types of solutions to a class of semilinear retarded differential equations with nonlocal history conditions are obtained by a fixed point argument. Also finite dimensional approximation of these solutions in a Hilbert space is established.     

Degenerate first-order inverse problems in Banach spaces

We are concerned with an inverse problem for a degenerate linear evolution equation of first-order. Both hyperbolic and parabolic cases will be considered. We indicate sufficient conditions for the existence and uniqueness of a solution. All the results can be applied to inverse problems for equations from mathematical physics. As a possible application of the abstract theorems, some examples of partial differential equations are given.     

Existence results for semilinear differential equations with nonlocal and impulsive conditions

This paper is concerned with the existence for impulsive semilinear differential equations with nonlocal conditions. Using the techniques of approximate solutions and fixed point, existence results are obtained, for mild solutions, when the impulsive functions are only continuous and the nonlocal item is Lipschitz in the space of piecewise continuous functions, is not Lipschitz and not compact, is continuous in the space of Bochner integrable functions, respectively.     

Existence and multiplicity of positive solutions for a class of semilinear elliptic equations involving Hardy term and Hardy-Sobolev critical exponents

Existence and multiplicity of positive solutions are studied for a class of semilinear elliptic equations with Hardy term, Hardy-Sobolev critical exponents and sublinear nonlinearity by variational methods and some analysis techniques.     

Multiple positive solutions for semilinear elliptic equations with critical weighted Hardy-Sobolev exponents

The existence and multiplicity of positive solutions are obtained for a class of semilinear elliptic equations with critical weighted Hardy-Sobolev exponents and the concave-convex nonlinearity by variational methods and some analysis techniques.     

The generalized nonlinear initial-boundary Riemann problem for linearly degenerate quasilinear hyperbolic systems of conservation laws

This work is a continuation of our previous work, in the present paper we study the generalized nonlinear initial-boundary Riemann problem with small BV data for linearly degenerate quasilinear hyperbolic systems of conservation laws with nonlinear boundary conditions in a half space . We prove the global existence and uniqueness of piecewise C¹ solution containing only contact discontinuities to a class of the generalized nonlinear initial-boundary Riemann problem, which can be regarded as a small BV perturbation of the corresponding nonlinear initial-boundary Riemann problem, for general n×n linearly degenerate quasilinear hyperbolic system of conservation laws; moreover, this solution has a global structure similar to the one of the self-similar solution to the corresponding nonlinear initial-boundary Riemann problem. Some applications to quasilinear hyperbolic systems of conservation laws arising in the string theory and high energy physics are also given.     

Fourier multipliers and periodic solutions of delay equations in Banach spaces

In this paper we characterize the existence and uniqueness of periodic solutions of inhomogeneous abstract delay equations and establish maximal regularity results for strong solutions. The conditions are obtained in terms of R-boundedness of linear operators determined by the equations and Lp- Fourier multipliers. Periodic mild solutions are also studied and characterized.     

Global existence for the one-dimensional second order semilinear hyperbolic equations

The aim of the paper is to study necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of the global solution of the one-dimensional semilinear equation appearing in the boundary value problems of gas dynamics. We investigate the Cauchy problem for such equation in the domain where the operator is weakly hyperbolic. We obtain the necessary condition for the existence of the self-similar solutions for the semilinear Gellerstedt-type equation. The approach used in the paper is based on the fundamental solution of the linear Gellerstedt operator and the Lp-Lq estimates.     

The substitution theorem for semilinear stochastic partial differential equations

In this article we establish a substitution theorem for semilinear stochastic evolution equations (see's) depending on the initial condition as an infinite-dimensional parameter. Due to the infinite-dimensionality of the initial conditions and of the stochastic dynamics, existing finite-dimensional results do not apply. The substitution theorem is proved using Malliavin calculus techniques together with new estimates on the underlying stochastic semiflow. Applications of the theorem include dynamic characterizations of solutions of stochastic partial differential equations (spde's) with anticipating initial conditions and non-ergodic stationary solutions. In particular, our result gives a new existence theorem for solutions of semilinear Stratonovich spde's with anticipating initial conditions.     

Parametric duality on minimax programming involving generalized convexity in complex space

In this paper we employ generalized convexity of complex functions to establish several sufficient optimality conditions for minimax programming in complex spaces. Using such criteria, we constitute a parametrical dual, and establish the weak, strong, and strict converse duality theorems in the framework.     

Asymptotic behavior of recursions via fixed point theory

In this paper we provide a formulation of initial value problems for (explicit and implicit) difference equations in terms of abstract equations in sequence spaces. They will be solved using appropriate fixed point theorems and we obtain quantitative attractivity properties.     

Asymptotic periodicity for some evolution equations in Banach spaces

This work deals with the existence and uniqueness of pseudo-almost periodic and asymptotically ω-periodic mild solutions to some evolution equations in Banach spaces.     

Absolutely convergent Fourier series and function classes

We study the smoothness property of a function f with absolutely convergent Fourier series, and give best possible sufficient conditions in terms of its Fourier coefficients to ensure that f belongs either to one of the Lipschitz classes Lip(α) and lip(α) for some 0<α?1, or to one of the Zygmund classes Λ_∗(1) and λ_∗(1). Our theorems generalize some of those by Boas [R.P. Boas Jr., Fourier series with positive coefficients, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 17 (1967) 463-483] and one by Németh [J. Németh, Fourier series with positive coefficients and generalized Lipschitz classes, Acta Sci. Math. (Szeged) 54 (1990) 291-304]. We also prove a localized version of a theorem by Paley [R.E.A.C. Paley, On Fourier series with positive coefficients, J. London Math. Soc. 7 (1932) 205-208] on the existence and continuity of the derivative of f.     

A class of operator equilibrium problems

In this paper, we consider a class of operator equilibrium problems (OEP for short) with operator solutions and derive a Minty type lemma for this class of problems. Further, using this lemma and KKM theorem, we establish some existence theorems for OEP. The theorems presented in this paper generalize, improve and unify many known results.     

Periodic and subharmonic solutions for a class of non-autonomous Hamiltonian systems

Some existence theorems are obtained for periodic and subharmonic solutions of a class of non-autonomous Hamiltonian systems. Our technical approach is based on a version of the Local Linking Theorem, and the Generalized Mountain Pass Theorem.     

Solutions to boundary Cauchy problems with infinite delay

In this paper, we investigate the existence, uniqueness of solutions to boundary Cauchy equations with infinite delay, which are more general than the previous studies. The conclusions are applied to an age dependent population with delay in the birth process.     

Uniqueness results for nonlocal Hamilton-Jacobi equations

We are interested in nonlocal eikonal equations describing the evolution of interfaces moving with a nonlocal, non-monotone velocity. For these equations, only the existence of global-in-time weak solutions is available in some particular cases. In this paper, we propose a new approach for proving uniqueness of the solution when the front is expanding. This approach simplifies and extends existing results for dislocation dynamics. It also provides the first uniqueness result for a Fitzhugh-Nagumo system. The key ingredients are some new perimeter estimates for the evolving fronts as well as some uniform interior cone property for these fronts.     

Fixed point theorems for better admissible multimaps on almost convex sets

We obtain new fixed point theorems on multimaps in the class Bp defined on almost convex subsets of topological vector spaces. Our main results are applied to deduce various fixed point theorems, coincidence theorems, almost fixed point theorems, intersection theorems, and minimax theorems. Consequently, our new results generalize well-known works of Kakutani, Fan, Browder, Himmelberg, Lassonde, and others.     

Global strong solution to the Thirring model in critical space

We obtain a strong solution in charge critical space L²(R) of the Thirring system and Federbusch equations in one space dimension by using solution representation of the models. The uniqueness is obtained for the solution Ψ∈L^∞([0,T];L²(R)∩L⁴(R)). A decay of local charge and asymptotic behavior of the field can be shown directly.     

On upper and lower bounds of higher order derivatives for solutions to the 2D micropolar fluid equations

The present paper is concerned with asymptotic behaviours of the solutions to the micropolar fluid motion equations in R². Upper and lower bounds are derived for the L² decay rates of higher order derivatives of solutions to the micropolar fluid flows. The findings are mainly based on the basic estimates of the linearized micropolar fluid motion equations and generalized Gronwall type argument.
