The purpose of this paper is to classify the quasi-isomorphism classes of 1-connected minimal free cochain algebras over a commutative ring. Our tool to address this problem is a “certain” long sequence, called the Whitehead exact sequence, which we construct for every such algebra. We introduce the notion of coherent isomorphisms between these exact sequences and we show that two 1-connected minimal free cochain algebras are quasi-isomorphic if and only if their respective Whitehead exact sequences are coherently isomorphic.  相似文献

Suppose B is an algebra with a stratifying ideal BeB generated by an idempotent e. We will establish long exact sequences relating the Hochschild cohomology groups of the three algebras B, B/BeB and eBe. This provides a common generalization of various known results, all of which extend Happel’s long exact sequence for one-point extensions. Applying one of these sequences to Hochschild cohomology algebras modulo the ideal generated by homogeneous nilpotent elements shows, in some cases, that these algebras are finitely generated.  相似文献

Enomoto showed for finite dimensional algebras that the classification of exact structures on the category of finitely generated projective modules can be reduced to the classification of 2-regular simple modules. In this article, we give a combinatorial classification of 2-regular simple modules for Nakayama algebras and we use this classification to answer several natural questions such as when there is a unique exact structure on the category of finitely generated projective modules for Nakayama algebras. We also classify 1-regular simple modules, quasi-hereditary Nakayama algebras and Nakayama algebras of global dimension at most two. It turns out that most classes are enumerated by well-known combinatorial sequences, such as Fibonacci, Riordan and Narayana numbers. We first obtain interpretations in terms of the Auslander-Reiten quiver of the algebra using homological algebra, and then apply suitable bijections to relate these to combinatorial statistics on Dyck paths.  相似文献

This paper shows how to uniformly associate Lie algebras to the simply-laced Dynkin diagrams excluding E8 by constructing explicit combinatorial models of minuscule representations using only graph-theoretic ideas. This involves defining raising and lowering operators in a space of ideals of certain distributive lattices associated to sequences of vertices of the Dynkin diagram.  相似文献

An exact sequence of Witt groups, motivated by exact sequences obtained by Lewis and by Parimala, Sridharan and Suresh, is constructed. The behavior of the maps involved in these sequences with respect to isotropy is completely determined in the case of division algebras. In particular, the kernels of the maps involved in the previous sequences are explicitly given, leading to a new proof of their exactness. Similar exact sequences of equivariant Witt groups are constructed. As an application, relations between the cardinality of certain Witt groups are obtained.  相似文献

We compute the essential norm of a composition operator relatively to the class of Dunford-Pettis operators or weakly compact operators, on some uniform algebras of analytic functions. Even in the context of H (resp. the disk algebra), this is new, as well for the polydisk algebras and the polyball algebras. Jónsson and Tarski's extension and representation theorems for Boolean algebras with operators ([7], p. 926 and p. 933) can be extended to homomorphisms between these algebras. The result obtained takes the form of a duality between the category of Boolean algebras with operators and that of the “algebras in the wider sense” (whose subjects are defined in [7]) with a suitable topology. This duality generalizes results of Pierce ([10], p. 38). Moreover, it can be extended to more general objects such as Boolean algebras with non-normal operators and even to arbitrary distributive lattices with operators.  相似文献

We show that finitely subgraded Lie algebras of compact operators have invariant subspaces when conditions of quasinilpotence are imposed on certain components of the subgrading. This allows us to obtain some useful information about the structure of such algebras. As an application, we prove a number of results on the existence of invariant subspaces for algebraic structures of compact operators, in particular for Jordan algebras and Lie triple systems of Volterra operators. Along the way we obtain new criteria for the triangularizability of a Lie algebra of compact operators. We use repeating sequences of expander graphs or small perturbations of expanders to present examples of ideals in the Roe algebras of bounded geometry discrete metric spaces which cannot be expressed as the sum of a ghost ideal and an ideal in which finite propagation operators are dense. In this paper, we prove results on enumerations of sets of Rota–Baxter words ( ${{{\tt RBWs}}}$ ) in a single generator and one unary operator. Examples of operators are integral operators, their generalization to Rota–Baxter operators, and Rota–Baxter type operators. ${{{\tt RBWs}}}$ are certain words formed by concatenating generators and images of words under the operators. Under suitable conditions, they form canonical bases of free Rota–Baxter type algebras which are studied recently in relation to renormalization in quantum field theory, combinatorics, number theory, and operads. Enumeration of a basis is often a first step to choosing a data representation in implementation. We settle the case of one generator and one operator, starting with the idempotent case (more precisely, the exponent 1 case). Some integer sequences related to these sets of ${{{\tt RBWs}}}$ are known and connected to other sequences from combinatorics, such as the Catalan numbers, and others are new. The recurrences satisfied by the generating series of these sequences prompt us to discover an efficient algorithm to enumerate the canonical basis of certain free Rota–Baxter algebras.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the applicability of maximum defect polynomial (Galerkin) spline approximation methods with graded meshes to Wiener-Hopf operators with matrix-valued piecewise continuous generating function defined on R. For this, an algebra of sequences is introduced, which contains the approximating sequences we are interested in. There is a direct relationship between the stability of the approximation method for a given operator and invertibility of the corresponding sequence in this algebra. We consider the structure of groups and algebras that can be represented as automorphisms, respectively derivations, of bilinear maps. Representations of that sort arise when we attempt to describe the automorphisms of groups, rings, and algebras that are nilpotent. We introduce exact sequences that capture structure and prove theorems of Morita and Skolem–Noether type. We apply these results to compute automorphisms of groups and rings.  相似文献

A rigorous mathematical theory of approximations is developed for abstract nonrelativistic quantum scattering systems within the two-Hilbert-space framework. An approximate space of asymptotic states and an approximate asymptotic Hamiltonian must be specified initially. An approximate N-particle Hamiltonian is then constructed and proved to be self-adjoint. Approximate wave operators are shown to exist and, in certain interesting cases, to be asymptotically complete. Certain sequences of the approximate wave operators are proved to converge to the exact wave operators in an appropriate limit. Thus approximate scattering operators are unitary and converge to the exact scattering operator.  相似文献

This paper is a continuation of [GK3] where the theory of Invertibility Symbol in Banach algebras was developed. In the present paper we generalize these results for the case when the Invertibility Symbol is defined on a subalgebra of the Banach algebras. The difficulty which arises here in this more general case is connected with the fact that some elements of the subalgebra may have the inverses which do not belong to the subalgebra. This generalization of the theory allows us to study the Fredholm Symbols of linear operators. Applications to subalgebras generated by two idempotents and to algebras generated by singular integral operators are presented.  相似文献

We investigate the symbolic structure of an algebra of pseudodifferential operators on manifolds with conical singularities which has been introduced by B.-W. Schulze. Our main objective is the extension of the symbolic calculus of this algebra to its norm closure in an adapted scale of Sobolev spaces. The purpose of this paper is to obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for maximum defect spline approximation methods with uniform meshes to be stable. The methods are applied to operators belonging to the closed subalgebra of ℒ︁ (L2 (ℝ)) generated by operators of multiplication by piecewise continuous functions on ℝ and convolution operators also with piecewise continuousgenerating functions. To that purpose, a C*-algebra of sequences is introduced, which contains the special sequences of approximating operators we are interested in. There is a direct relationship between the applicability of the approximation method to a given operator and invertibility of the corresponding sequence in this C*-algebra. Exploring this relationship, applicability criteria are derived by the use of C*-algebra and Banach algebra techniques (essentialization, localization andidentification of the local algebras by means of construction of locally equivalent representations). Finally, examples are presented, including explicit conditions for the applicability of spline Galerkin methods to Wiener-Hopf operators with piecewise continuous symbols.  相似文献

W. Blok proved that varieties of boolean algebras with a single unary operator uniquely determined by their class of perfect algebras (i.e., duals of Kripke frames) are exactly those which are intersections of conjugate varieties of splitting algebras. The remaining ones share their class of perfect algebras with uncountably many other varieties. This theorem is known as the Blok dichotomy or the Blok alternative. We show that the Blok dichotomy holds when perfect algebras in the formulation are replaced by ω-complete algebras, atomic algebras with completely additive operators or algebras admitting residuals. We also generalize the Blok dichotomy for lattices of varieties of boolean algebras with finitely many unary operators. In addition, we answer a question posed by W. Dziobiak and show that classes of lattice-complete algebras or duals of Scott-Montague frames in a given variety are not determined by their subdirectly irreducible members.
