Bounds for Regge slopes and intercepts for ordinary and new hadrons

We have derived a constraint $\text{2α}{}_{\mathrm{<mtext>i</mtext><mtext>j</mtext>}}\text{(0) + α}{}_{\mathrm{<mtext>i</mtext><mtext>i</mtext>}}\text{(0) + α}{}_{\mathrm{<mtext>j</mtext><mtext>j</mtext><mtext>(0)</mtext>}}$ form the einequality for he unitarity relation. This constraint, combined with slope factorization leads to bounds for Regge slopes and intercepts. Bottom cases are also argued.     

Thomas precession for spin and for a rod

In this paper we obtain the differential equations which describe the rotating rod and precession of the spin of a gyroscope moving along a curved trajectory. Several examples of such motion are considered. The obtained equations differ from the traditional Thomas expression, interpreted as a rotation of the noninertial frame relative to the fixed one. The cause of this disagreement is the fact that, in general, the axes of the moving frame are not orthogonal for the fixed observers. When the velocity changes, the axes’ direction changes, due to both Wigner rotation and Lorentz contraction. In the present paper we take into account both of these factors. It is shown that the vectors representing various physical quantities transform in different ways in the moving reference frame. Thus, the kinematic equations describing the motion of these quantities in a fixed frame are different as well.     

A model for supersonic and hypersonic impactors for nanoparticles

In this study the performance of supersonic and hypersonic impactors for collection efficiency of nanoparticles (in the size range of 2–100 nm) under various operating conditions is analyzed. Axisymmetric forms of the compressible Navier–Stokes and energy equations are solved and the airflow and thermal condition in the impactor are evaluated. A Lagrangian particle trajectory analysis procedure is used and the deposition rates of different size particles under various operating conditions are studied. For dilute particle concentrations, the assumption of one-way interaction is used and the effect of particles on gas flow field is ignored. The importance of drag, lift and Brownian forces on particle motions in supersonic impactors is discussed. Sensitivity of the simulation results to the use of different assumptions for the Cunningham correction coefficient is studied. It is shown that accurate evaluation of the gas mean free path and the Cunningham correction factor is important for accurate simulation of nano-particle transport and deposition in supersonic/hypersonic impactors. The computer simulation results are compared favorably with the available experimental data.     

Pade-Approximants for the Electron Gas and for Symmetrical Plasmas

The range of validity for several Pade-formulae for thermodynamic functions is checked in comparison with most recently available numerical data. Landscapes of maximum deviation are plotted. Application to symmetrical electron-positron and electron-hole plasmas is performed. An evaluation of the critical data for the droplet transition in semiconductors is given.     

Ultrasonic testing for hydrogen for titanium-based materials and articles

The propagation of ultrasonic (US) waves in hydrogen-saturated alloy based on VT1-0 titanium is investigated. Two characteristic domains of the effect of hydrogen on velocity V _R of US waves are established. A characteristic peak observed on the dependence of the velocity of US waves on the hydrogen concentration makes it possible to determine the hydrogen concentration in titanium at which hydrogen embrittlement begins.

Unified Free Quantum Fields for Massive and for Massless Particles

For any mass m ≧ 0 and arbitrary spin, free relativistic quantum fields are constructed using the same formulas for m > 0 and for m = 0. The transformation properties of these fields under P, C, T and some questions concerning super-selection rules are discussed.     

An Approach for Microprobe Measurement and Modeling for Millimeter-Wave Application

This paper describes a simple method to check the performance of microprobe. The two-port S-parameters of the microprobe are determined by one-port S-parameters measurement using HP 8510XF Network Analyzer. Based on the measurement, an equivalent circuit model for the microprobe is presented and good agreement between the measurement results and modeling results is obtained.

Inequalities for higher order Ising spins and for continuum fluids

The recently derived Fortuin, Kasteleyn and Ginibre (FKG) inequalities for lattice gasses are investigated for higher order Ising spin systems and multi-component lattice gasses. Conditions are given for the validity of the FKG inequalities for higher order spin systems with Hamiltonians of the form used recently as models for various physical systems, e.g.He ³–He ⁴ mixtures. We also investigate various inequalities for binary lattice gases and show how these can be carried over to continuum systems.Supported in part by U.S.A.F.O.S.R. # F 44620-71-C-0013.N.S.F. Finite-element methods for junction problems for coaxial and radial waveguides

We apply the method of mixed finite elements to the junction problem for coaxial and radial waveguides. The problem is reduced to an internal boundary-value problem with nonlocal boundary-value conditions. In the low-frequency range, we compare the results of the finite-element method with the Otto relationship.     

Perturbation and variational approach for the equation of state for hard-sphere and Lennard-Jones fluids

The present work uses the concept of a scaled particle along with the perturbation and variation approach, to develop an equation of state (EOS) for a mixture of hard sphere (HS), Lennard–Jones (LJ) fluids. A suitable flexible functional form for the radial distribution function G(R) is assumed for the mixture, with R as a variable. The function G(R) has an arbitrary parameter m and a different equation of state can be obtained with a suitable choice of m. For m = 0.75 and m = 0.83 results are close to molecular dynamics (MD) result for pure HS and LJ fluid respectively.
