The soliton perturbation theory is used to study and analyze the stochastic perturbation of optical solitons, due to Kerr law nonlinearity, in addition to deterministic perturbations of optical solitons that is governed by the nonlinear Schrödingers equation. The Langevin equations are derived and analyzed. The deterministic perturbations that are considered here are of both Hamiltonian as well as of non-Hamiltonian type. 相似文献

A direct approach is used to investigate perturbations about a kink solution for nonlinear Klein-Gordon models. Effects of perturbations on a kink are derived in this scheme. After linearizing the initial equations by making use of derivative expansion method from classical perturbation theory, the solution for the first-order correction is derived by means of the method of Laplace transformation. A direct approach has been developed for soliton perturbations based on the Green's function. We first linearized the soliton equation, and then derived the Green's function corresponding to approximation equations of different orders. Finally, we obtained the effects of perturbation on a soliton, namely both the slow time dependence of the soliton parameters and the corrections up to the second-order approximation. We consider the dynamics of bright solitons in one dimensional Bose Einstein condensate with spin orbit coupling and trapped by an optical lattice potential. We mainly focus on the effects of the spin orbit coupling, Rabi coupling and detuning parameter on the soliton dynamics. The solution of the coupled Gross Pitaevskii equation is performed with the help of the variational and numerical methods for various parameters. The population imbalance and the center of mass motion show different dynamic behaviors depending on the parameters. We also obtain traveling bright solitons related with a given finite initial momentum. 相似文献

The machining of slow wave structures for high frequency BWO's is extremely difficult beyond l THz. Recently a microfabrication technique using photolithography and ion-beam assisted etching has been used to construct a prototype BWO operating at 200 to 265 GHz.The output coupler for such tubes remains a problem. Waveguides do not exist or are very lossy at the frequencies of interest (300 to 2000 GHz).This paper discusses several scaled experiments of optical output couplers for submillimeter BWO's. Various designs of planar antennas (Vivaldi horns) and lens-feed systems (hyperhemispherical lens) were constructed and tested between 20 and 100 GHz using a spectrum analyzer. The lens system was also tested at 337 GHz using a CO2 pumped FIR laser. 相似文献

We demonstrate the formation of superluminal optical soliton in an symmetry semiconductor double quantum dot (QD) driven coherently by a weak pulsed laser using the tunnel coupling. It is shown that the group velocity of the soliton can be larger than the vacuum light speed c, i.e., superluminal soliton can be produced. The results obtained can be used for the development of new types of nanoelectronic devices for realizing high-speed optical modulation and rapidly responding quantum switching. 相似文献

Multi-terabit/s, ultra-high speed optical transmissions over several thousands kilometers on fibers are becoming a reality. Most use RZ (Return to Zero) format in dispersion-managed fibers. This format is the only stable waveform in the presence of fiber Kerr nonlinearity and dispersion in all optical transmission lines with loss compensated by periodic amplifications. The nonlinear Schrödinger equation assisted by the split step numerical solutions is commonly used as the master equation to describe the information transfer in optical fibers. All these facts are the outcome of research on optical solitons in fibers in spite of the fact that the commonly used RZ format is not always called a soliton format. The overview presented here attempts to incorporate the role of soliton-based communications research in present day ultra-high speed communications. 相似文献

Coupling characteristics of 4 × 4 elliptical core optical waveguide couplers that consist of four highly elliptical core fibers, whose centers form a rectangle, are obtained. The effect of the aspect ratio of the individual elliptical core fibers as well as that of their rectangular arrangement on the coupling characteristics have been obtained.
