For a Heyting algebra V which, as a category, is monoidal closed, we obtain characterizations of exponentiable objects and morphisms in the category of V-categories and apply them to some well-known examples. In the case these characterizations of exponentiable morphisms and objects in the categories (P)Met of (pre)metric spaces and non-expansive maps show in particular that exponentiable metric spaces are exactly the almost convex metric spaces, while exponentiable complete metric spaces are the complete totally convex ones.  相似文献

Originally, exponentiable maps in the category Top of topological spaces were described by Niefield in terms of certain fibrewise Scott-open sets. This generalizes the first characterization of exponentiable spaces by Day and Kelly, which was improved thereafter by Hofmann and Lawson who described them as core-compact spaces.Besides various categorical methods, the Sierpinski-space is an essential tool in Niefield's original proof. Therefore, this approach fails to apply to quotient reflective subcategories of Top like Haus, the category of Hausdorff spaces. A recent generalization of the Hofmann–Lawson improvement to exponentiable maps enables now to reprove the characterization in a completely different and very elementary way. This approach works for any nontrivial quotient reflective subcategory of Top or Top/ T , the category of all spaces over a fixed base space T, as well as for exponentiable monomorphisms with respect to epi-reflective subcategories. An important special case is the category Sep_Top/ T of separated maps, i.e. distinct points in the same fibre can be separated in the total space by disjoint open neighbourhoods. The exponentiable objects in Sep turn out to be the open and fibrewise locally compact maps. The same holds for Haus/ T , T a Hausdorff space. In this case, a similar characterization was obtained by Cagliari and Mantovani.  相似文献

The construct M of metered spaces and contractions is known to be a superconstruct in which all metrically generated constructs can be fully embedded. We show that M has one point extensions and that quotients in M are productive. We construct a Cartesian closed topological extension of M and characterize the canonical function spaces with underlying sets Hom(X,Y) for metered spaces X and Y. Finally we obtain an internal characterization of the objects in the Cartesian closed topological hull of M.  相似文献

In ZF, i.e., Zermelo-Fraenkel set theory without the axiom of choice, the category Top of topological spaces and continuous maps is well-behaved. In particular, Top has sums (=coproducts) and products. However, it may happen that for families (Xi)iI and (Yi)iI with the property that each Xi is homeomorphic to the corresponding Yi neither their sums iIXi and iIYi nor their products iIXi and iIYi are homeomorphic. It will be shown that the axiom of choice is not only sufficient but also necessary to rectify this defect.  相似文献

Motivated by the observation that both pretopologies and preapproach limits can be characterized as those convergence relations which have a unit for a suitable composition, we introduce the category Algu(T;V) of reflexive and unitary lax algebras, for a symmetric monoidal closed lattice V and a Set-monad T=(T,e,m). For T=U the ultrafilter monad, we characterize exponentiable morphisms in Algu(U;V). Further, we give a sufficient condition for an object to be exponentiable in the category Alg(U;V) of reflexive and transitive lax algebras. This specializes to known and new results for pretopological, preapproach and approach spaces.  相似文献

In previous papers, the notions of “closedness” and “strong closedness” in set-based topological categories were introduced. In this paper, we give the characterization of closed and strongly closed subobjects of an object in the category Prord of preordered sets and show that they form appropriate closure operators which enjoy the basic properties like idempotency (weak) hereditariness, and productivity. We investigate the relationships between these closure operators and the well-known ones, the up- and down-closures. As a consequence, we characterize each of T0, T1, and T2 preordered sets and show that each of the full subcategories of each of T0, T1, T2 preordered sets is quotient-reflective in Prord. Furthermore, we give the characterization of each of pre-Hausdorff preordered sets and zero-dimensional preordered sets, and show that there is an isomorphism of the full subcategory of zero-dimensional preordered sets and the full subcategory of pre-Hausdorff preordered sets. Finally, we show that both of these subcategories are bireflective in Prord.  相似文献

We begin with the notion of K-flat projectivity. For each sup-algebra L we then introduce a binary relation L? on it. The K-flat projective sup-algebras are exactly such sup-algebras with each element a approximated by the element x, xL?a and the relation L? being stable with respect to the operations on L. Further on, we introduce the notion of a K-comonad and characterize K-flat projective sup-algebras as such sup-algebras having a coalgebra structure for the K-comonad.  相似文献

Herrlich and Strecker characterized the category Comp 2 of compact Hausdorff spaces as the only nontrivial full epireflective subcategory in the category Top 2 of all Hausdorff spaces that is concretely isomorphic to a variety in the sense of universal algebra including infinitary operations. The original proof of this result requires Noble's theorem, i.e. a space is compact Hausdorff iff every of its powers is normal, which is far from being elementary. Likewise, Petz' characterization of the class of compact Hausdorff spaces as the only nontrivial epireflective subcategory of Top 2, which is closed under dense extensions (= epimorphisms in Top 2) and strictly contained in Top 2 is based on a result by Kattov stating that a space is compact Hausdorff iff its every closed subspace is H-closed. This note offers an elementary approach for both, instead.Presented at the European Colloquium of Category Theory, Tours, France, 25–31 July 1994.  相似文献

For topological products the concept of canonical subbase-compactness is introduced, and the question analyzed under what conditions such products are canonically subbase-compact in ZF-set theory. Results: (1) Products of finite spaces are canonically subbase-compact iff AC(fin), the axiom of choice for finite sets, holds.(2) Products of n-element spaces are canonically subbase-compact iff AC(<n), the axiom of choice for sets with less than n elements, holds.(3) Products of compact spaces are canonically subbase-compact iff AC, the axiom of choice, holds.(4) All powers XI of a compact space X are canonically subbase compact iff X is a Loeb-space.These results imply that in ZF the implications

For a set F of small categories, F-conservative cocompletions of a category are cocompletions preserving all existing colimits of type F. We prove that every category has a free F-conservative cocompletion. However, unless F is trivial, this cocompletion fails in general to be locally small.  相似文献

In the present work, we shall construct some non-essential H-closed epireflections of W that are not comparable with any other known H-closed epireflections of W other than the divisible hull and the epicompletion. We show first that the free objects in any H-closed epireflective subcategory must be closed under composition (see Section 2 for a precise definition), and that any epic extension of a free W-object on n generators that is closed under composition is actually the free object on n generators in some H-closed epireflective subcategory of W. We then apply these results to certain ?-groups of almost-piecewise-linear Baire functions on R. By definition, a function f:RR is almost-piecewise-linear if there is a finite point set SR such that f is piecewise-linear on the complement of any neighborhood of S.  相似文献

Full subcategories C ? Top of the category of topological spaces, which are algebraic over Set in the sense of Herrlich [2], have pleasant separation properties, mostly subject to additional closedness assumptions. For instance, every C-object is a T1-space, if the two-element discrete space belongs to C. Moreover, if C is closed under the formation of finite powers in Top and even varietal [2], then every C-object is Hausdorff. Hence, the T2-axiom turns out to be (nearly) superfluous in Herrlich's and Strecker's characterization of the category of compact Hausdorff spaces [1], although it is essential for the proof. If we think of C-objects X as universal algebras (with possibly infinite operations), then the subalgebras of X form the closed sets of a compact topology on X, provided that the ordinal spaces [0, β] belong to C. This generalizes a result in [3]. The subalgebra topology is used to prove criterions for the Hausdorffness of every space in C, if C is only algebraic.  相似文献

We define a 2-category structure (Pre-Orb) on the category of reduced complex orbifold atlases. We construct a 2-functor F from (Pre-Orb) to the 2-category (Grp) of proper étale effective groupoid objects over the complex manifolds. Both on (Pre-Orb) and (Grp) there are natural equivalence relations on objects: (a natural extension of) equivalence of orbifold atlases on (Pre-Orb) and Morita equivalence in (Grp). We prove that F induces a bijection between the equivalence classes of its source and target.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Let C be a category of topological spaces and continuous functions which is full, hereditary and closed under homeomorphisms and products. If A is a subclass of C, let E(A) be the full subcategory of C whose objects are the subspaces in A. In this paper we characterize the epireflective subcategories of C containing A and contained in E(A) by introducing a “semiclosure” operator which is a generalization for the “idempotent semi-limit” operator introduced by S.S. Hong (see [5]) with respect to Top o. In case A is extensive in C, so that E(A) = C, all the extensive subcategories of C containing A are thus characterized.  相似文献

We provide a polynomial realization of the Hopf algebra UBP of uniform block permutations defined by Orellana and Aguiar (2008) [11]. We describe an embedding of the dual of the Hopf algebra WQSym into UBP, and as a consequence, obtain a polynomial realization of it.  相似文献

The category Top has several pleasant properties but fails to have other desirable ones. Consequently there have been various attempts to replace Top by more convenient categories; mostly subcategories or supercategories of Top. Whereas several of the supercategories of Top have extremely pleasant properties, all the subcategories of Top investigated so far have some deficiencies. In the present article it is shown why this is so and why the search for more convenient subcategories of Top has to be in vain. As a preparation in Section 1 nine convenience-properties for topological categories are defined and their mutual relations are analyzed. In Section 2 it is shown that every topological subcategory of Top (under some minor, natural assumptions) it-with respect to each of the 9 mentioned properties-as convenient or inconvenient as Top itself.  相似文献

In this paper we extend the results obtained in [3], where are investigated the general settings of the two-dimensional complex Finsler manifolds, with respect to a local complex Berwald frame. The geometry of such manifolds is controlled by three real invariants which live on T'M: two horizontal curvature invariants K and W and one vertical curvature invariant I. By means of these invariants are defined both the horizontal and the vertical holomorphic sectional curvatures. The complex Landsberg and Berwald spaces are of particular interest. Complex Berwald spaces coincide with Kähler spaces, in the two – dimensional case. We establish the necessary and sufficient condition under which K is a constant and we obtain a characterization for the Kähler purely Hermitian spaces by the fact K = W = constant and I = 0. For the class of complex Berwald spaces we have K = W = 0. Finally, a classification of two-dimensional complex Finsler spaces for which the horizontal curvature satisfies a special property is obtained.  相似文献
