Experimental observations of the multifragmentation of relativistic light nuclei by means of emulsions are surveyed. Events that belong to the type of “white stars” and in which the dissociation of relativistic nuclei is not accompanied by the production of mesons and target-nucleus fragments are considered. An almost complete suppression of the binary splitting of nuclei to fragments of charge in excess of two, Z > 2, is a feature peculiar to charge topology in the dissociation of Ne, Mg, Si, and S nuclei. An increase in the degree of nuclear fragmentation manifests itself in the growth of the multiplicity of singly and doubly charged fragments (Z = 1, 2) as the charge of the unexcited fragmenting-nucleus part (which is the main part) decreases. Features of the production of systems formed by extremely light nuclei α, d, and t are studied in the dissociation of the stable isotopes of Li, Be, B, C, N, and O to charged fragments. Manifestations of 3He clustering can be observed in “white stars” in the dissociation of neutron-deficient isotopes of Be, B, C, and N.  相似文献

The results of investigation of the fragmentation of relativistic nuclei 9Be in an emulsion, which is accompanied by the formation of two 1.2-A-GeV He fragments, are presented. The angular measurements of the 9Be → 2He events are analyzed. The 9Be → 8Be + n fragmentation channel with the decay of 8Be from the ground (0+) and first excited (2+) states into a pair of α particles appears to be dominant.  相似文献

Events where two doubly charged fragments are directly formed from a fragmenting nucleus 11B of momentum 2.75 GeV/c per nucleon are separated, the cascade production of such fragments via the fragmentation channel 8Be → 2α being avoided. Where possible, the mass numbers of these doubly charged fragments are determined by using a signal from Coulomb scattering in photoemulsion. It is found that the measured fraction of the isotope 6He is (9.6 ± 1.5)%, while its calculated probability is about 12%. The transverse-momentum distributions obtained experimentally for the isotopes 3He and 4He are compatible with a Rayleigh distribution characterized by constant values of 110.4 ± 6.0 and 127.5 ± 6.0 MeV/c, respectively. These features of the distributions agree with a purely statistical mechanism of the fragmentation of 11B nuclei.  相似文献

The angular distributions of doubly charged fragments of 16O nuclei having a momentum of 4.5 GeV/c per nucleon and interacting with track-emulsion nuclei were studied. The experimental angular distributions of doubly charged fragments of a 16O nucleus are not described by the statistical model of the fragmentation of nuclei. The possible channels of fragmentation of 16O nuclei may include 16O → 28Be → 4α, 16O → 8Be +8 Be* → 4α, 16O → 28Be* → 4α, 16O → α+12C, 16O → α +12C* → α + 3α, 16O → α +12C* → α + 7Li, 16O → α +12C* → α + 26Li, 16O → α +12C* → α + pt2α, 16O → Li + B, and 16O → Li* + B*.  相似文献

Charge topology of fragmentation of 1.2 A GeV 7Be nuclei in nuclear track emulsion is presented. The dissociation channels 4He + 3He, 23He+ n, 4He + 21H are considered in detail. It is established that the events 6Be + n amount about to 27 % in the channel 4He + 21H.  相似文献

The technique of nuclear track emulsions is used to explore the fragmentation of light relativistic nuclei down to the most peripheral interactions: nuclear “white” stars. A complete pattern of the relativistic dissociation of a 8B nucleus with target fragment accompaniment is presented. Relativistic dissociation 9Be → 2α is explored using significant statistics, and a relative contribution of 8Be decays from 0+ and 2+ states is established. Target fragment accompaniments are shown for relativistic fragmentation 14N → 3He +H and 22Ne → 5He. The leading role of the electromagnetic dissociation on heavy nuclei with respect to breakups on target protons is demonstrated in all these cases. It is possible to conclude that the peripheral dissociation of relativistic nuclei in nuclear track emulsion is a unique tool to study many-body systems composed of the lightest nuclei and nucleons in the energy scale relevant for nuclear astrophysics. The results obtained by studying the charge topology of fragments produced in the peripheral dissociation of relativistic 8B nuclei in emulsion are presented. Fifty-five events of the peripheral dissociation of a 8B nucleus in events where there was no production of target-nucleus fragments and mesons (“white stars”) were selected. A leading contribution of the 8B → 7Be + p mode, which has the lowest energy threshold, was revealed on the basis of these events. Information about the branching ratios for dissociation modes characterized by a higher multiplicity was obtained. The dissociation of the 7Be core in 8B bears resemblance to the dissociation of a free 7Be nucleus. The transverse-momentum distributions of fragments originating from the 8B → 7Be + p dissociation mode were obtained. For these distributions, a small mean value of 〈P*T〉 = 52 ± 5 MeV/c in the c.m. frame suggests a low binding energy of the outer proton in the 8B nucleus. An indication of a strong azimuthal correlation of the fragments 7Be and p was found.  相似文献

Experimental data on fragmentation channels in peripheral interactions of 8B nuclei in nuclear track emulsions are presented. A detailed analysis made it possible to justify selections of events of the electromagnetic-dissociation process 8B → 7Be + p and to estimate its cross section. Events of 10C peripheral dissociation that were observed in the same exposure are described.  相似文献

The spectra of p, d, and t charged particles produced in stopped-pion absorption by nuclei are analyzed. Respective measurements were performed for 17 nuclei by means of a semiconductor spectrometer. A phenomenological model developed previously for medium-heavy and heavy nuclei was applied to describing the spectra and yields of charged particles originating from light nuclei (6,7Li, 9Be, 10,11B, and 12C). The contribution of intranuclear clusters (such as pp and 3,4He) to pion absorption was estimated.  相似文献

The capabilities and limitations of the conventional many-particle shell model and modern potential cluster models are discussed. New revaluated and more accurate calculations of one-nucleon spectroscopic characteristics of the light nuclei of 1p shell are presented. In many-particle shell model for nuclei with A = 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15 nucleon partial widths of highly excited states with the isotopic spin T = 3/2 were calculated both for “allowed” and “forbidden” transitions. One-nucleon spectroscopic factors were calculated in threebody multicluster models of 6Li{αnp}, 8Li{αtn}, and 9Be{ααn} nuclei. For isobar-analogue nuclei 7Li and 7Be, the spectroscopic proton S p and neutron S n factors for transitions to the ground and excited states of corresponding residue nuclei of the triplet 6Li-6He-6Be were calculated in the framework of binary potential αtand ατ models. Integral, differential and polarization characteristics of photonuclear processes 7Li(γ, n 0)6Li, 6He(p, γ0 + 1)7Li, 7Li(γ, p 0)6He, and 9Be(γ, p 0 + 1)8Li were calculated in this approach.  相似文献

The (6Li, 7Be) and (6Li, 7Li) reactions on 6Li and 7Li nuclei were investigated in the angular interval 0°–20° in the laboratory system at a 6Li energy of 93 MeV. In addition to low-lying states of the 5,6He and 5,6Li nuclei, broad structures were observed near the t(3He)+d and t(3He)+t thresholds at the excitation energies of 16.75 (3/2+) and ~20 MeV (for 5He), 16.66 (3/2+) and ~20 MeV (5Li), 14.0 and 25 MeV (6He), and ~20 MeV (6Li). The angular distributions measured in the 7Li(6Li, 7Be)6He reaction for transitions to the ground state (0+) and excited states at E x=1.8 MeV (2+) and 14.0 MeV of the 6He nucleus were analyzed by the finite-range distorted-wave method assuming the 1p-and 1s-proton pickup mechanism. The (6Li, 7Be) and (6Li, 7Li) reactions were shown to proceed predominantly through the one-step pickup mechanism, and the broad structures observed at high excitation energies are considered as quasimolecular states of the t(3He)+d and t(3He)+t types.  相似文献

The role of the nuclear and Coulomb interactions in coherent fragmentation of relativistic nuclei is discussed with the cluster-model analysis of the experimental data on the fragmentation of 7Li (P = 3A GeV/c) via the 3H + 4He channel in photoemulsion used as an example. The calculated electromagnetic contribution of ~10% to the cross section is not in conflict with the photoemulsion data and the upper estimate of ~40% derived from the earlier measurements of total cross sections for fragmentation of light nuclei using the counter technique. The observed irregularities in the differential cross section for 7Li fragmentation with a separated Coulomb peak at a very small momentum transfer Q are ascribed to the overlap of nuclear diffraction patterns arising from light (C, N, O) and heavy (Ag, Br) photoemulsion nuclei. The predicted diffraction cross sections in the inelastic channel drastically differ from the usual shape of nuclear diffraction in an elastic channel. For pure targets, they have a shape of oscillations with a few peaks of comparable intensity and show strong dependence on the form of the surface nuclear density and radii of the intranuclear cluster and target nucleus. The probability for two-body clustering in 7Li is estimated at about 0.7.  相似文献

We calculate the electromagnetic properties of lithium and beryllium nuclei within a resonating group model using bare charges and g-factors. For 6Li we give results for reduced transition strengths and explain the tiny quadrupole moment. For 7Li and 7Be we compute electromagnetic moments and transitions between bound states. Furthermore we reproduce the existing data on the radiative captures 3He(α, γ)7Be and 3H(α, γ)7Li. In the 7Li case the calculations indicate an increase of the astrophysical S- factor for decreasing energy which might have astrophysical consequences. We show that closed channels do not influence results on the astrophysical S-factor at low energy. Finally we demonstrate that the polarisability of 7Li originates from the virtual break-up at low energies. In this case, the 6Li + n channels contribute appreciably.  相似文献

The results obtained by estimating the contribution of 8Be and 9B nuclei to the coherent dissociation of 10C, 10B, and 12C relativistic nuclei in nuclear track emulsions (“white” stars) are presented. The selection of white stars accompanied by 9B leads to a distinct peak appearing in the distribution of the excitation energy of 2α2p ensembles and having a maximum at 4.1 ± 0.3 MeV. A 8Be nucleus manifests itself in the coherent-dissociation reaction 10B → 2He + H with a probability of (25 ± 5)%, (14 ± 3)% of it being due to 9B decays. The ratio of the branching fractions of the 9B + n and 9Be + p mirror channels is estimated at 6 ± 1. An analysis of the relativistic dissociation of 12C nuclei in a nuclear track emulsion revealed nine 3α events corresponding to the Hoyle state.  相似文献

Features of angular distributions of events involving two or more doubly charged fragments of relativistic nuclei 22Ne, 24Mg, 14N, 11B, and 10B in photoemulsions are studied. It is found that, in all cases, with the exception of the case of the intermediate-state decay 8Be → 2α, the fragments in these events are independent of one another. The inclusive angular distributions of fragments of relativistic nuclei 22Ne for events in which the number of particles ranges between one and five are identical. Thus, the emission angle of each fragment of a relativistic nucleus does not depend either on other fragments or on the presence or absence of product particles and target-nucleus fragments in an event.  相似文献

The halo nuclei 11Be and 11Li have been studied in core-breakup reactions where the halo neutrons are expected to be released without a major distortion due to the reaction. The widths of the halo-neutron momentum distributions have been extracted in coincidence with He fragments, Γ = 32 ± 4 MeV/c, and Li fragments, Γ = 42 ± 4 MeV/c for 11Be and with He fragments, Γ = 42 ± 6 MeV/c for 11Li. The 11Be breakup gives a very low neutron multiplicity of 0.38±0.09 which is a manifestation of the shadowing of the neutron in the core-breakup reaction. This value can be understood from a simple theoretical calculation, which also accounts for the observed transverse momentum widths at small angles.  相似文献

A nuclear track emulsion was exposed to a mixed beam of relativistic 12N, 10C, and 7Be nuclei having a momentum of 2 GeV/c per nucleon. The beam was formed upon charge exchange processes involving 12C primary nuclei and their fragmentation. An analysis indicates that 10C nuclei are dominant in the beam and that 12N nuclei are present in it. The charge topology of relativistic fragments in the coherent dissociation of these nuclei is presented.  相似文献

A transfer-reaction experiment of 9Be(9Be, 10Be)8Be was performed at a beam energy of 45 MeV. Excited states in 10Be up to 18.80 MeV are produced using missing mass and invariant mass methods. Most of the observed high-lying resonant states, reconstructed from the α + 6He and t + 7Li decay channels, agree with the previously reported results. In addition, two new resonances at 15.6 and 18.8 MeV are identified from the present measurement. The 18.55 MeV state is found to decay into both the t + 7Lig.s. and t + 7Li* (0.478 MeV) channels, with a relative branching ratio of 0.93 ± 0.33. Further theoretical investigations are encouraged to interpret this new information on cluster structure in neutron-rich light nuclei.  相似文献

The angular correlation between momenta of 5He and its decay products has been calculated for the peripheral fragmentation of 6He using a two-step model in a sudden approximation: (1) One neutron knock-out leading to the unbound nucleus 5He. (2) Subsequent decay of 5He undisturbed by the target in an α-particle and a neutron. Angular correlations measured in a recent experiment dealing with the peripheral fragmentation of 240 MeV/u 6He on a carbon target can be well described by a dominant 5He 3/2? ground state configuration plus a small admixture of ≈ 7% of the first excited 1/2? state. The influence of an s-state admixture as well as a contribution of the momentum transfer to the correlation function are investigated. The results obtained for 6He are then used as a touch stone for a discussion of the methods to investigate peripheral fragmentation of other Borromean halo nuclei like 11Li and 14Be. It is shown that the evidence on the possible existence of low-lying s-states in 10Li and 13Be can be derived from the corresponding angular correlations.  相似文献

Experimental results on the multiplicity distributions of various particles produced in the interactions of 7Li with emulsion nuclei at a momentum of 3 GeV/c per projectile nucleon are reported. A comparison with data on collisions induced by other nuclei at a nearly identical momentum per nucleon is presented in order to reveal the dependence on the projectile mass. The internal structure of 7Li is explored by studying the projectile fragment. The mean multiplicity of shower particles, 〈n s〉, induced by 7Li is found to be less than that in the case of 6Li projectiles. The angular distributions of target fragments and relativistic charged secondaries are investigated. No shock-wave phenomena are observed. Forward-to-backward ratios are calculated for each case. The probability distributions for relativistic secondaries produced per unit rapidity are studied in detail, along with the rapidity densities and their dependence on the projectile and the target mass. A comparison of the angular spectra of shower particles produced in central and peripheral collisions supports the limiting-fragmentation hypothesis. The collisions in question seem to become more central with increasing shower-particle multiplicity.  相似文献
