Lanthanide based single molecular magnets (SMMs), particularly dysprocenium based SIMs, are well known for their high energy barrier for spin reversal (Ueff) and blocking temperatures (TB). Enhancing these two parameters and at the same time obtaining ambient stability is key to realising end-user applications such as compact storage or as qubits in quantum computing. In this work, by employing an array of theoretical tools (DFT, ab initio CASSCF and molecular dynamics), we have modelled six complexes [(η5-corannulene)Dy(Cp)] (1), [(η5-corannulene)Dy(C6H6)] (2), [(η6-corannulene)Dy(Cp)] (3), [(η6-corannulene)Dy(C6H6)] (4), [(exo5-corannulene)Dy(endo5-corannulene)] (5), and [(endo5-corannulene)Dy(endo5-corannulene)] (6) containing corannulene as a capping ligand to stabilise Dy(iii) half-sandwich complexes. Our calculations predict a strong axiality exerted by the Dy–C interactions in all complexes. Ab initio calculations predict a very large barrier height for all six molecules in the order 1 (919 cm−1) ≈ 3 (913 cm−1) > 2 (847 cm−1) > 4 (608 cm−1) ≈ 5 (603 cm−1) ≈ 6 (599 cm−1), suggesting larger barrier heights for Cp ring systems, followed by six-membered arene systems and then corannulene. DFT based molecular dynamics calculations were performed on complexes 3, 5 and 6. For complexes 3 and 5, the geometries that are dynamically accessible are far fewer. The range of Ueff computed for molecular dynamics snapshots is high, indicating a possibility of translating the large Ueff obtained into attractive blocking temperatures in these complexes, but the converse is found for 6. Furthermore, an in-depth C–H bond vibrational analysis performed on complex 3 suggests that the vibration responsible for reducing the blocking temperature in dysprocenium SIMs is absent here as the C–H bonds are stronger and corannulene steric strain prevents the C(Cp)–Dy–C(Cor) bending. As [(η6-corannulene)TM(X)]+ (TM = Ru, Zr, Os, Rh, Ir and X = C5Me5, C6Me6) are known, the predictions made here have a higher prospect of yielding stability under ambient conditions, a very large Ueff value and a high blocking temperature – a life-giving combination to new generation SMMs.

Bringing half-sandwich Dy(iii) SIMs under the umbrella of corannulene was found to offer stability, greater barrier height and may offer higher blocking temperatures.  相似文献

Synthesis of 5-aryl-N-(pyrazin-2-yl)thiophene-2-carboxamides (4a–4n) by a Suzuki cross-coupling reaction of 5-bromo-N-(pyrazin-2-yl)thiophene-2-carboxamide (3) with various aryl/heteroaryl boronic acids/pinacol esters was observed in this article. The intermediate compound 3 was prepared by condensation of pyrazin-2-amine (1) with 5-bromothiophene-2-carboxylic acid (2) mediated by TiCl4. The target pyrazine analogs (4a–4n) were confirmed by NMR and mass spectrometry. In DFT calculation of target molecules, several reactivity parameters like FMOs (EHOMO, ELUMO), HOMO–LUMO energy gap, electron affinity (A), ionization energy (I), electrophilicity index (ω), chemical softness (σ) and chemical hardness (η) were considered and discussed. Effect of various substituents was observed on values of the HOMO–LUMO energy gap and hyperpolarizability. The p-electronic delocalization extended over pyrazine, benzene and thiophene was examined in studying the NLO behavior. The chemical shifts of 1H NMR of all the synthesized compounds 4a–4n were calculated and compared with the experimental values.  相似文献

Geometrical cis- and trans- isomers of 2-chloro-, 2-bromo- and 2-fluoro-4-methyl-1,3,2-dioxaphosphorinan-2-thiones were obtained in a diastereoselective way by (a) sulfurization of corresponding cyclic PIII-halogenides, (b) reaction of cyclic phosphorothioic acids with phosphorus pentachloride and (c) halogen–halogen exchange at PIV-halogenide. Their conformation and configuration at the C4-ring carbon and phosphorus stereocentres were studied by NMR (1H, 31P) methods, X-ray analysis and density functional (DFT) calculations. The stereochemistry of displacement reactions (alkaline hydrolysis, methanolysis, aminolysis) at phosphorus and its mechanism were shown to depend on the nature of halogen. Cyclic cis- and trans-isomers of chlorides and bromides react with nucleophiles (HO, CH3O, Me2NH) with inversion of configuration at phosphorus. DFT calculations provided evidence that alkaline hydrolysis of cyclic thiophosphoryl chlorides proceeds according to the SN2-P mechanism with a single transition state according to the potential energy surface (PES) observed. The alkaline hydrolysis reaction of cis- and trans-fluorides afforded the same mixture of the corresponding cyclic thiophosphoric acids with the thermodynamically more stable major product. Similar DFT calculations revealed that substitution at phosphorus in fluorides proceeds stepwise according to the A–E mechanism with formation of a pentacoordinate intermediate since a PES with two transition states was observed.  相似文献

A linear scaling of the calculated chemical shifts is used in order to improve the accuracy of the DFT predicted 13C NMR chemical shifts. The widely applied method of GIAO B3LYP/6-311+G(2d,p) using the B3LYP/6-31G(d) optimized geometries is chosen, which allows cost-effective calculations of the 13C chemical shifts in the molecular systems with 100 and more atoms. A set of 27 13C NMR chemical shifts determined experimentally for 22 simple molecules with various functional groups is used in order to determine scaling factors for reproducing experimentally measured values of 13C chemical shifts. The results show that the use of a simple relationship (δscalc = 0.95 δcalc + 0.30, where δcalc and δscalc are the calculated and the linearly scaled values of the 13C chemical shifts, respectively) allows to achieve a three-fold improvement in mean absolute deviations for 27 chemical shifts considered. To test the universal applicability of the scaling factors derived, we have used complex organic molecules such as taxol and a steroid to demonstrate the significantly improved accuracy of the DFT predicted chemical shifts. This approach also outperforms the recently recommended usage of the Hartree-Fock optimized geometries for the GIAO B3LYP/6-311+G(2d,p) calculations of the 13C chemical shifts.  相似文献

The first families of alkaline-earth stannylides [Ae(SnPh3)2·(thf)x] (Ae = Ca, x = 3, 1; Sr, x = 3, 2; Ba, x = 4, 3) and [Ae{Sn(SiMe3)3}2·(thf)x] (Ae = Ca, x = 4, 4; Sr, x = 4, 5; Ba, x = 4, 6), where Ae is a large alkaline earth with direct Ae–Sn bonds, are presented. All complexes have been characterised by high-resolution solution NMR spectroscopy, including 119Sn NMR, and by X-ray diffraction crystallography. The molecular structures of [Ca(SnPh3)2·(thf)4] (1′), [Sr(SnPh3)2·(thf)4] (2′), [Ba(SnPh3)2·(thf)5] (3′), 4, 5 and [Ba{Sn(SiMe3)3}2·(thf)5] (6′), most of which crystallised as higher thf solvates than their parents 1–6, were established by XRD analysis; the experimentally determined Sn–Ae–Sn′ angles lie in the range 158.10(3)–179.33(4)°. In a given series, the 119Sn NMR chemical shifts are slightly deshielded upon descending group 2 from Ca to Ba, while the silyl-substituted stannyls are much more shielded than the phenyl ones (δ119Sn/ppm: 1′, −133.4; 2′, −123.6; 3′, −95.5; 4, −856.8; 5, −848.2; 6′, −792.7). The bonding and electronic properties of these complexes were also analysed by DFT calculations. The combined spectroscopic, crystallographic and computational analysis of these complexes provide some insight into the main features of these unique families of homoleptic complexes. A comprehensive DFT study (Wiberg bond index, QTAIM and energy decomposition analysis) points at a primarily ionic Ae–Sn bonding, with a small covalent contribution, in these series of complexes; the Sn–Ae–Sn′ angle is associated with a flat energy potential surface around its minimum, consistent with the broad range of values determined by experimental and computational methods.

The complete series of heterobimetallic alkaline-earth distannyls [Ae{SnR3}2·(thf)x] (Ae = Ca, Sr, Ba) have been prepared for R = Ph and SiMe3, and their bonding and electronic properties have been comprehensively investigated.  相似文献

Ribitol (C5H12O5), an acyclic sugar alcohol, is present on mammalian α-dystroglycan as a component of O-mannose glycan. In this study, we examine the conformation and dynamics of ribitol by database analysis, experiments, and computational methods. Database analysis reveals that the anti-conformation (180°) is populated at the C3–C4 dihedral angle, while the gauche conformation (±60°) is seen at the C2–C3 dihedral angle. Such conformational asymmetry was born out in a solid-state 13C-NMR spectrum of crystalline ribitol, where C1 and C5 signals are unequal. On the other hand, solution 13C-NMR has identical chemical shifts for C1 and C5. NMR 3J coupling constants and OH exchange rates suggest that ribitol is an equilibrium of conformations, under the influence of hydrogen bonds and/or steric hinderance. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations allowed us to discuss such a chemically symmetric molecule, pinpointing the presence of asymmetric conformations evidenced by the presence of correlations between C2–C3 and C3–C4 dihedral angles. These findings provide a basis for understanding the dynamic structure of ribitol and the function of ribitol-binding enzymes.  相似文献

A DFT study of the 1H NMR chemical shifts, δ(1H), of geometric isomers of 18:3 conjugated linolenic acids (CLnAs), hexadecatrienyl pheromones, and model triene-containing compounds is presented, using standard functionals (B3LYP and PBE0) as well as corrections for dispersion interactions (B3LYP-D3, APFD, M06–2X and ωB97XD). The results are compared with literature experimental δ(1H) data in solution. The closely spaced “inside” olefinic protons are significantly more deshielded due to short-range through-space HH steric interactions and appear close to or even beyond δ-values of aromatic systems. Several regularities of the computational δ(1H) of the olefinic protons of the conjugated double bonds are reproduced very accurately for the lowest-energy DFT-optimized single conformer for all functionals used and are in very good agreement with experimental δ(1H) in solution. Examples are provided of literature studies in which experimental resonance assignments deviate significantly from DFT predictions and, thus, should be revised. We conclude that DFT calculations of 1H chemical shifts of trienyl compounds are powerful tools (i) for the accurate prediction of δ(1H) even with less demanding functionals and basis sets; (ii) for the unequivocal identification of geometric isomerism of conjugated trienyl systems that occur in nature; (iii) for tackling complex problems of experimental resonance assignments due to extensive signal overlap; and (iv) for structure elucidation in solution.  相似文献

The 15N and 13C chemical shifts of 6‐(fluoro, chloro, bromo, and iodo)purine 2′‐deoxynucleoside derivatives in deuterated chloroform were measured. The 15N chemical shifts were determined by the 1H? 15N HMBC method, and complete 15N chemical‐shift assignments were made with the aid of density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Inclusion of solvation effects significantly improved the precision of the calculations of 15N chemical shifts. Halogen‐substitution effects on the 15N and 13C chemical shifts of purine rings are discussed in the context of DFT results. The experimental coupling constants for 19F interacting with 15N and 13C of the 6‐fluoropurine 2‐deoxynuleoside are compared with those from DFT calculations. Polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) compounds, derived from marine organisms, originate from symbiosis between marine sponges and cyanobacteria or bacteria. PBDEs have broad biological spectra; therefore, we analyzed structure and activity relationships of PBDEs to determine their potential as anticancer or antibacterial lead structures, through reactions and computational studies. Six known PBDEs (1–6) were isolated from the sponge, Lamellodysdiea herbacea; 13C NMR data for compound 6 are reported for the first time and their assignments are confirmed by their theoretical 13C NMR chemical shifts (RMSE < 4.0 ppm). Methylation and acetylation of 1 (2, 3, 4, 5-tetrabromo-6-(3′, 5′-dibromo-2′-hydroxyphenoxy) phenol) at the phenol functional group gave seven molecules (7–13), of which 10, 12, and 13 were new. New crystal structures for 8 and 9 are also reported. Debromination carried out on 1 produced nine compounds (1, 2, 14, 16–18, 20, 23, and 26) of which 18 was new. Debromination product 16 showed a significant IC50 8.65 ± 1.11; 8.11 ± 1.43 µM against human embryonic kidney (HEK293T) cells. Compounds 1 and 16 exhibited antibacterial activity against Gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus and Gram-negative Klebsiella pneumoniae with MID 0.078 µg/disk. The number of four bromine atoms and two phenol functional groups are important for antibacterial activity (S. aureus and K. pneumoniae) and cytotoxicity (HEK293T). The result was supported by analysis of frontier molecular orbitals (FMOs). We also propose possible products of acetylation and debromination using analysis of FMOs and electrostatic charges and we confirm the experimental result.  相似文献

Reaction of triisobutylaluminum with SBA15700 at room temperature occurs by two parallel pathways involving either silanol or siloxane bridges. It leads to the formation of a well-defined bipodal [(SiO)2Al–CH2CH(CH3)2] 1a, silicon isobutyl [Si–CH2CH(CH3)2] 1b and a silicon hydride [Si–H] 1c. Their structural identity was characterized by FT-IR and advanced solid-state NMR spectroscopies (1H, 13C, 29Si, 27Al and 2D multiple quantum), elemental and gas phase analysis, and DFT calculations. The reaction involves the formation of a highly reactive monopodal intermediate: [SiO–Al–[CH2CH(CH3)2]2], with evolution of isobutane. This intermediate undergoes two parallel routes: transfer of either one isobutyl fragment or of one hydride to an adjacent silicon atom. Both processes occur by opening of a strained siloxane bridge, Si–O–Si but with two different mechanisms, showing that the reality of “single site” catalyst may be an utopia: DFT calculations indicate that isobutyl transfer occurs via a simple metathesis between the Al-isobutyl and O–Si bonds, while hydride transfer occurs via a two steps mechanism, the first one is a β-H elimination to Al with elimination of isobutene, whereas the second is a metathesis step between the formed Al–H bond and a O–Si bond. Thermal treatment of 1a (at 250 °C) under high vacuum (10–5 mbar) generates Al–H through a β-H elimination of isobutyl fragment. These supported well-defined Al–H which are highly stable with time, are tetra, penta and octa coordinated as demonstrated by IR and 27Al–1H J-HMQC NMR spectroscopy. All these observations indicate that surfaces atoms around the site of grafting play a considerable role in the reactivity of a single site system.  相似文献

The chemical composition of three Citrus limon oils: lemon essential oil (LEO), lemon terpenes (LT) and lemon essence (LE), and their influence in the virulence factors production and motility (swarming and swimming) of two Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains (ATCC 27853 and a multidrug-resistant HT5) were investigated. The main compound, limonene, was also tested in biological assays. Eighty-four compounds, accounting for a relative peak area of 99.23%, 98.58% and 99.64%, were identified by GC/MS. Limonene (59–60%), γ-terpinene (10–11%) and β-pinene (7–15%) were the main compounds. All lemon oils inhibited specific biofilm production and bacterial metabolic activities into biofilm in a dose-dependent manner (20–65%, in the range of 0.1–4 mg mL−1) of both strains. Besides, all samples inhibited about 50% of the elastase activity at 0.1 mg mL−1. Pyocyanin biosynthesis decreases until 64% (0.1–4 mg mL−1) for both strains. Swarming motility of P. aeruginosa ATCC 27853 was completely inhibited by 2 mg mL−1 of lemon oils. Furthermore, a decrease (29–55%, 0.1–4 mg mL−1) in the synthesis of Quorum sensing (QS) signals was observed. The oils showed higher biological activities than limonene. Hence, their ability to control the biofilm of P. aeruginosa and reduce the production of virulence factors regulated by QS makes lemon oils good candidates to be applied as preservatives in the food processing industry.  相似文献

A series of N-pyridyl ureas bearing 1,2,4- (1a, 2a, and 3a) and 1,3,4-oxadiazole moiety (1b, 2b, 3b) was prepared and characterized by HRMS, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, as well as X-ray diffraction. The inspection of the crystal structures of (1–3)a,b and the Hirshfeld surface analysis made possible the recognition of the (oxadiazole)···(pyridine) and (oxadiazole)···(oxadiazole) interactions. The presence of these interactions was confirmed theoretically by DFT calculations, including NCI analysis for experimentally determined crystal structures as well as QTAIM analysis for optimized equilibrium structures. The preformed database survey allowed the verification of additional examples of relevant (oxadiazole)···π interactions both in Cambridge Structural Database and in Protein Data Bank, including the cocrystal of commercial anti-HIV drug Raltegravir.  相似文献

For decades, high-resolution 1H NMR spectroscopy has been routinely utilized to analyze both naturally occurring steroid hormones and synthetic steroids, which play important roles in regulating physiological functions in humans. Because the 1H signals are inevitably superimposed and entangled with various JH–H splitting patterns, such that the individual 1H chemical shift and associated JH–H coupling identities are hardly resolved. Given this, applications of thess information for elucidating steroidal molecular structures and steroid/ligand interactions at the atomic level were largely restricted. To overcome, we devoted to unraveling the entangled JH–H splitting patterns of two similar steroidal compounds having fully unsaturated protons, i.e., androstanolone and epiandrosterone (denoted as 1 and 2, respectively), in which only hydroxyl and ketone substituents attached to C3 and C17 were interchanged. Here we demonstrated that the JH–H values deduced from 1 and 2 are universal and applicable to other steroids, such as testosterone, 3β, 21-dihydroxygregna-5-en-20-one, prednisolone, and estradiol. On the other hand, the 1H chemical shifts may deviate substantially from sample to sample. In this communication, we propose a simple but novel scheme for resolving the complicate JH–H splitting patterns and 1H chemical shifts, aiming for steroidal structure determinations.  相似文献

Density functional theory (DFT) calculations and experiments in tandem led to discoveries of new reactivities and selectivities involving bioorthogonal sydnone cycloadditions. Dibenzocyclooctyne derivatives (DIBAC and BARAC) were identified to be especially reactive dipolarophiles, which undergo the (3 + 2) cycloadditions with N-phenyl sydnone with the rate constant of up to 1.46 M–1 s–1. Most significantly, the sydnone-dibenzocyclooctyne and norbornene-tetrazine cycloadditions were predicted to be mutually orthogonal. This was validated experimentally and used for highly selective fluorescence labeling of two proteins simultaneously.  相似文献

The assertion made by Wu et al. that aromaticity may have considerable implications for molecular design motivated us to use nucleus-independent chemical shifts (NICS) as an aromaticity criterion to evaluate the antifungal activity of two series of indol-4-ones. A linear regression analysis of NICS and antifungal activity showed that both tested variables were significantly related (p < 0.05); when aromaticity increased, the antifungal activity decreased for series I and increased for series II. To verify the validity of the obtained equations, a new set of 44 benzofuran-4-ones was designed by replacing the nitrogen atom of the five-membered ring with oxygen in indol-4-ones. The NICS(0) and NICS(1) of benzofuran-4-ones were calculated and used to predict their biological activities using the previous equations. A set of 10 benzofuran-4-ones was synthesized and tested in eight human pathogenic fungi, showing the validity of the equations. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) in yeasts was 31.25 µg·mL–1 for Candida glabrata, Candida krusei and Candida guilliermondii with compounds 15-32, 15-15 and 15-1. The MIC for filamentous fungi was 1.95 µg·mL–1 for Aspergillus niger for compounds 15-1, 15-33 and 15-34. The results obtained support the use of NICS in the molecular design of compounds with antifungal activity.  相似文献

A novel class of quinolinol-based dimeric indium complexes (1–6) was synthesized and characterized using 1H and 13C(1H) NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Compounds 1–6 exhibited typical low-energy absorption bands assignable to quinolinol-centered π–π* charge transfer (CT) transition. The emission spectra of 1–6 exhibited slight bathochromic shifts with increasing solvent polarity (p-xylene < tetrahydrofuran (THF) < dichloromethane (DCM)). The emission bands also showed a gradual redshift, with an increase in the electron-donating effect of substituents at the C5 position of the quinoline groups. The absolute emission quantum yields (ΦPL) of compounds 1 (11.2% in THF and 17.2% in film) and 4 (17.8% in THF and 36.2% in film) with methyl substituents at the C5 position of the quinoline moieties were higher than those of the indium complexes with other substituents.  相似文献

Cyclic five-membered ring sulfoxides and sulfones were prepared by a stepwise in situ oxidation of the corresponding sulfides with meta-chloroperbenzoic acid in an NMR tube. The oxidation was followed by NMR and both 1H and 13C NMR data were collected. The geometries of all of the compounds were optimized using the DFT B3LYP/6-31G7 method and the 13C and 1H chemical shifts were calculated for geometry-optimized structures with the DFT B3LYP/6-31++G7 method. The calculated 13C chemical shifts induced by oxidation (Δδ values) were in very good agreement with the experimental data and could be used to determine the oxidation state of the sulfur atom (–S–, –SO–, –SO2–). The characteristic differences of the induced oxidation chemical shifts of the carbon atoms in the α-position and β-position to sulfur were successfully used to distinguish between the diastereoisomeric sulfoxides and allowed configuration determination.  相似文献

Reactions of the cyclo-E5 sandwich complexes [Cp*Fe(η5-P5)] (1) and [Cp*Fe(η5-As5)] (2) with the planar Lewis acid trimeric (perfluoro-ortho-phenylene)mercury [(o-C6F4Hg)3] (3) afford compounds that show distinctly different assemblies in the solid state. The phosphorus containing ligand 1 forms dimeric coordination units with two molecules of 3, with one P atom of each cyclo-P5 ligand positioned in close proximity to the center of a molecule of 3. In contrast to the coordination behavior of 1, the arsenic analog 2 shows simultaneous interaction of three As atoms with the Hg atoms of 3. A DFT study and subsequent AIM analyses of the products suggest that electrostatic forces are prevalent over donor–acceptor interactions in these adducts, and may play a role in the differences in the observed coordination behavior. Subsequently, a series of [CpRFe(η5-P5)] (CpR = C5H5–n tBun, n = 1–3, 6a–c) sandwich complexes was prepared and also reacted with [(o-C6F4Hg)3]. In the solid state the obtained products 7a–c with increasing steric demand of the CpR ligands show no significant change in their assembly compared to the Cp* analog 4. All of the products were characterized by single crystal X-ray structure analysis, mass spectrometry and elemental analysis as well as NMR spectroscopy and IR spectrometry.  相似文献

We measured the 1H, 13 C and 15 N chemical shifts for a series of purine derivatives bearing a norbornane substituent in position 9 and various substituents in position 6. The experimental data were complemented with density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The comparison of the calculated and experimental chemical shifts provided us with information about the tautomer and conformational equilibria of the studied compounds.
