The present study aimed to develop a carbon dots-based fluorescence (FL) sensor that can detect more than one pollutant simultaneously in the same aqueous solution. The carbon dots-based FL sensor has been prepared by employing a facile hydrothermal method using citric acid and ethylenediamine as precursors. The as-synthesized CDs displayed excellent hydrophilicity, good photostability and blue fluorescence under UV light. They have been used as an efficient “turn-off” FL sensor for dual sensing of Fe3+ and Hg2+ ions in an aqueous medium with high sensitivity and selectivity through a static quenching mechanism. The lowest limit of detection (LOD) for Fe3+ and Hg2+ ions was found to be 0.406 µM and 0.934 µM, respectively over the concentration range of 0-50 µM. Therefore, the present work provides an effective strategy to monitor the concentration of Fe3+ and Hg2+ ions simultaneously in an aqueous medium using environment-friendly CDs.

In this work, we introduce a highly selective and sensitive fluorescent sensor based on pyrene derivative for Fe(III) ion sensing in DMSO/water media. 2-(pyrene-2-yl)-1-(pyrene-2-ylmethyl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole (PEBD) receptor was synthesized via simple condensation reaction and confirmed by spectroscopic techniques. The receptor exhibits fluorescence quenching in the presence of Fe(III) ions at 440 nm. ESI–MS and Job’s method were used to confirm the 1:1 molar binding ratio of the receptor PEBD to Fe(III) ions. Using the Benesi-Hildebrand equation the binding constant value was determined as 8.485?×?103 M?1. Furthermore, the limit of detection (LOD, 3σ/K) value was found to be 1.81 µM in DMSO/water (95/5, v/v) media. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of the United States, it is lower than the acceptable value of Fe3+ in drinking water (0.3 mg/L). The presence of 14 other metal ions such Co2+, Cr3+, Cu2+, Fe2+, Hg2+, Pb2+, K+, Ni2+, Mg2+, Cd2+, Ca2+, Mn2+, Al3+, and Zn2+ did not interfere with the detection of Fe(III) ions. The fluorescence life-time of the receptor PEBD with and without Fe3+ ion was found to be 1.097?×?10?9 s and 0.9202?×?10?9 s respectively. Similarly, the quantum yield of the receptor PEBD with Fe3+ and without Fe3+ ion was calculated, and found as 0.05 and 0.25 respectively. Computational studies of the receptor PEBD were carried out with density functional theory (DFT) using B3LYP/ 6-311G (d, p), LANL2DZ level of theory.

A novel fluorescence chemosensor for Hg2+ ion has been developed by the assembly of fluorescence Bis-Schiff base PMBA within the channels of CPTES-modified SBA-15. The ordered porous structure of SBA-15 is still retained on the hybrid chemosensor material PMBA-SBA. A remarkable fluorescence quenching of PMBA-SBA by Hg2+ ion was attributed to heavy atom effect of Hg2+ ion. The linear detecting range of the hybrid mesoporous chemosensor for Hg2+ ion is 2-15 μM and the lowest detection limit is 0.6 μM in ethanol/water (9:1, v/v) solution.  相似文献

A irreversible Hg2+ selective ratiometric fluorescence probe FR, a fluorescein fluorophore linked to a rhodamine B hydrazide by a thiourea spacer, was designed and synthesized. The developed probe FR exhibited great ratiometric fluorescence enhancement and remarkable yellow-magenta color change toward Hg2+ with excellent selectivity in aqueous acetone solution, and the ratiometric fluorescence response to Hg2+ was not interfered by other metal cations including Fe3+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cr3+, Zn2+, Pb2+, Cd2+, Ca2+, Mg2+, Ba2+ and Mn2+. The linear range and the detection limit of this supposed ratiometric fluorescence method for Hg2+ were 0.0–10.0 × 10−6 and 5 × 10−8 M, respectively.  相似文献

Detection of Hg2+ in complex natural environmental conditions is extremely challenging, and no entirely successful methods currently exist. Here we report an easy-to-prepare fluorescent sensor B3 with 2-aminophenol as Hg2+ receptor, which exhibits selective fluorescence enhancement toward Hg2+ over other metal ions. Especially, the fluorescence enhancement was unaffected by anions and cations existing in environment and organism. Moreover, B3 can detect Hg2+ in sulphide-rich environments without cysteine, S2- or EDTA altering the fluorescence intensity. Consequently, B3 is capable of distinguishing between safe and toxic levels of Hg2+ in more complicated natural water systems with detection limit ≤2 ppb.  相似文献

A simple fluorescent chemosensor 5-(4-methylphenyl)-3-(5-methylfuran-2-yl)-1-phenyl-4, 5-dihydro-1H-pyrazole (PY) has been synthesized for the detection of Cd2+ ion.The fluorescent probe PY shows high selectivity for Cd2+in the presence of othermetal ions (Co2+, Cu2+, Hg2+, Mn2+, Zn2+, Fe3+, Pb2+, Ni2+, and Al3+). The fluorescence intensity of the PY has been strongly quenched with increasing concentration of Cd2+ (0–0.9 μM)via photoinduced electron transfer mechanism. The binding constant of Cd2+ to PY for the 1:1 complex isfound to be 5.3?×?105 M?1with a detection limit of 0.09 μM. The chemosensor was successfully applied for determination of Cd2+ in different water samples (tap, river, and bottled water) showing good recovery values in the range of 94.8–101.7% with RSD less than 3%. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were also performed to investigate electronic and spectral characteristics which are quite agreeable with the experimental value. The results show that the synthesized fluorescent chemosensor shows good selectivity towards Cd2+ and can be readily applied for the detection of Cd2+ in real samples including water samples.

A simple uracil-appended fluorescent sensor (1) has been developed by one pot reaction and characterized by using common spectroscopic methods such as UV-vis, Fluorescence, HRMS and FT-IR analyses. Upon addition of various metal ions to the CH3CN solution of sensor 1, the fluorescence was quenched in the presence of Cu2+ / Hg2+ ions. The limit of detection for Cu2+ and Hg2+ was calculated to be 3.31 and 0.316 µM, respectively. Further, the sensor was applied for real-life applications in the determination of Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) and its presence in milk products. With the incorporation of different sources of vitamin-B to acetonitrile solution of it, there was discernible fluorescence enhancement only in the presence of vitamin B2. Also, it has been successfully applied for the detection of Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) in milk and curd. Moreover, based on the fluorescent color changes, the sensor was utilized for invisible ink applications.

In this paper, the carbon dots (CDs) with strong blue fluorescence were synthesized through hydrothermal method, which using folic acid, ammonium citrate and ethylenediamine as precursors. The prepared CDs with a high absolute quantum yield of 81.94% and showed excellent stability in high concentration salt solution and different pH conditions. With the addition of Hg2+, the signal of CDs was selectively quenched. At the same time, the CDs-Hg2+ system could be recovered after the introduction of biothiols. Moreover, the fluorescence of CDs showed a good linear relationship with Hg2+ (1–15 µM), and the detection limit as low as 0.08 µM. In addition, the prepared CDs with low toxicity could be used to detect Hg2+ in living cells and actual water samples.

A novel fluorescent rhodamine based chemosensor (E)-3′,6′-bis(diethylamino)-2-((2-(pyridin-2-ylmethoxy)benzylidene)amino)spiro[isoindoline-1,9′-xanthen]-3-one, RSP, had been successfully developed and well characterized by NMR, FT-IR and Mass spectroscopy. The chemosensor exhibits high selectivity for Hg2+ over other ions (Ag+, Pb2+, Cu2+, Ni2+, Fe3+, Co2+, Zn2+ and Cd2+) with fluorescence enhancement in ethanol solution. More over the detection limit of the sensor is in the 10?6 M level. The binding ratio of RSP-Hg2+ complex was determined to be 1:1 according to the Job plot. Test strips based on RSP were fabricated, which showed the application of the sensor for detection of mercuric ions in water by naked eyes.  相似文献

To utilize the nanomaterials as an effective carrier for the drug delivery applications, it is important to study the interaction between nanomaterials and drug or biomolecules. In this study GSH functionalized Mn2+-doped CdTe/ZnS QDs has been utilized as a model nanomaterial due to its high luminescence property. Folic acid (FA) gradually quenches the FL of GSH functionalized Mn2+???doped CdTe/ZnS QDs. The Stern-Volmer quenching constant (Ksv), binding constant (Ks) and effective quenching constant (Ka) for the FA-QDs system is calculated to be 1.32?×?105 M?1, 1.92?×?105 and 0.27?×?105 M?1, respectively under optimized condition (Temp. 300 K, pH 8.0, incubation time 40 min.). The effects of temperature, pH, and incubation time on FA-QDs system have also been studied. Statistical analysis of the quenched FL intensity versus FA concentration revealed a linear range from 1?×?10?7 to 5.0?×?10?5 for FA detection. The LOD of the current nano-sensor for FA was calculated to be 0.2 μM. The effect of common interfering metal ions and other relevant biomolecules on the detection of FA (12.0 μM) have also been investigated. L-cysteine and glutathione displayed moderate effect on FA detection. Similarly, the common metal ions (Na+, K+, Ca2+ and Mg2+) produced minute interference while Zn2+ Cu2+ and Fe3+ exert moderate interference. Toxic metal ions (Hg2+ and Pb2+) produced severe interferences in FA detection.

The novel water-soluble poly(vinyl alcohol) with pendant rhodamine B moiety as colorimetric and fluorescene chemosensor for Hg2+ ions was prepared by grafting poly(vinyl alcohol) using rhodamine B hydrazide and hexamethylenediisocyanate as fluorescent dye and coupling agent, respectively. Because of their good water-solubility, the polymers binding rhodamine B can be used as chemosensors in aqueous media. With the addition of Hg2+ ions into the aqueous solution, visual color changes and fluorescence enhancements were detected. In addition, we also noticed that other metal ions such as Ag+, Cd2+, Co2+, Cu2+, K+, Mg2+, Ba2+, Fe2+, Ni2+, Pb2+, Cr3+, Fe3+ and Zn2+ cannot induce obvious changes to the fluorescence spectra of the polymer chemosensors. The combination of water solubility and positive fluorescence response as well as color change are hence particularly promising for the practical utility of the sensors.  相似文献

A disulfide linked naphthalimide dimer probe was designed for mercury ion (Hg2+) recognition in this work. The recognition was based on the strong affinity of mercury for sulfur. The experimental results revealed that the probe exhibited high selectivity and sensitivity toward Hg2+ in comparison to other metal ions via a turn-on and reversible response to Hg2+ in neutral buffer solution. More importantly, the probe demonstrated a linear response for Hg2+ over a concentration range from 0 to 150 μM with a detection limit of 0.38 μM, which is just the limit of the safe concentration for humans. Upon addition of 150 μM Hg2+, the enhancement of fluorescence reached a maximum (∼7-fold). The performances of the probe indicated that it could meet the selectivity requirements for biomedical and environmental application and also was sensitive enough to detect Hg2+ in environmental and biological samples.  相似文献

A 1,8-naphthalimide derivative with a reactive aliphatic hydroxyl was designed and synthesized as a fluorescent probe. Its structure was characterized by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, LC-MS and HPLC. The probe showed high selectivity and sensitivity to Hg2+ over other metal ions such as Pb2+, Na+, K+, Cd2+, Cr3+, Zn2+, Cu2+, Ni2+, Ca2+, Fe3+, Fe2+, Co2+, Mn2+ and Mg2+ in MeCN/H2O (15/85, v/v). The increase in fluorescence intensity was linearly proportional to the concentration of Hg2+ in the range of 18–40 μM with a detection limit of 1.38 × 10?7 mol/L. The probe could work in a pH span of 4.3–9.0 and respond to Hg2+ quickly with strong anti-interference ability. Job’s plot suggested a 1:2 complex of the probe and Hg2+.  相似文献

In this study, two solvents (deep eutectic and water/deep eutectic solvents) were used for N-doped carbon dots (N-CDs) preparation by microwave irradiation. The solvent can influence surface chemical composition, quantum yield, morphology, and fluorescence of CDs. N-CDs synthesized in water/deep eutectic solvent (DES) had better quantum yield (24.5%) with respect to N-CDs synthesized in deep eutectic solvent (17.4%). These carbon dots were used as a rapid and high sensitive “off–on” fluorescent probe for the determination of Fe3+ ion and cetirizine. Morphology and structure of the N-CDs were characterized by FT-IR, UV–Vis, XRD and TEM. Linear range and detection limit for N-CDs synthesis in deep eutectic solvent for cetirizine were 0.08–48 µM and 15 nM, respectively and for N-CDs synthesis in water/deep eutectic solvent were 0.03–50 µM and 10 nM, respectively. Applicability of this nanoprobe was tested in cetirizine determination in serum sample. Antibacterial activities of the two synthesized N-CDs were also investigated using agar disk diffusion method.

Herein we report a simple, single-step, cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and biocompatible approach using sodium salt of N-cholyl-L-cysteine (NaCysC) capped gold nanoclusters (AuNCs) with green emission properties at above the CMC in aqueous medium under UV-light irradiation. The primary and secondary CMC of NaCysC was found to be 4.6 and 10.7 mM respectively using pyrene as fluorescent probe. The synthesized AuNCs exhibit strong emission maxima at 520 nm upon excitation at 375 nm with a large Stokes shift of 145 nm. The surface functionality and morphology of NCs are studied by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, dymanic light scattering studies and transmission electron microscopy. The formation of AuNCs was completed within 5 h and exhibit high stability for more than 6 months. The NaCysC templated AuNCs selectively quenches the Hg2+ ions with higher sensitivity in aqueous solution over the other metal ions. The fluorescence analysis of Hg2+ showed a wide linear range from 15 to 120 µM and a detection limit was found to be 15 nM.

A highly selective PET fluorescent sensor B1 for Hg2+ containing a BODIPY fluorophore and a NS2O2 penta-chelating receptor has been synthesized and characterized. Its absorption maximum wavelength (498 nm) and emission maximum wavelength (512 nm) are both in the visible range. The fluorescence quantum yields of the B1 and Hg2+-bound states of BHg1 are 0.008 and 0.58 in 70% aqueous ethanol solution, respectively. The pKa of 1.97 is the lowest in metal ions PET chemo sensors reported up till now as we know. Thus, B1 can detect the Hg2+ in a wide pH span, which indicates that it has more potential and further practical applications for biology and toxicology. Furthermore, BHg1 also displays response to some anions such as Cl(Br), , SCN and CH3COO, which is attributed to the significant coordinating ability of these anions to Hg2+.  相似文献

l-Tryptophan-capped carbon quantum dots (l-CQDs) were facilely synthesized through “green” methodology, and the obtained material was utilized as a sensitive and selective fluorescence sensor for mercury ion (Hg2+) in pure aqueous solutions. Carboxyl-functionalized CQDs were first green synthesized by a one-step hydrothermal route, and l-tryptophan was then attached to CQDs via direct surface condensation reaction in aqueous solution at room temperature. The as-synthesized l-CQDs had an average size of ca. 5 nm with a good dispersity in water, and exhibited a favorable selectivity for Hg2+ ions over a range of other common metal cations in aqueous solution (10 mM PBS buffer, pH 6.0). Upon the addition of Hg2+, a complete fluorescence quenching (ON–OFF switching) of l-CQDs was evident from the fluorescence titration experiment, and the fluorescence detection limit of Hg2+ was calculated to be 11 nM, which indicated that the obtained environmentally friendly l-CQDs had sensitive detection capacity for Hg2+ in aqueous solution.  相似文献

This paper presents the preparation of a pyrazoline compound and the properties of its UV–Vis absorption and fluorescence emission. Moreover, this compound can be used to determine Hg2+ ion with selectivity and sensitivity in the EtOH:H2O?=?9:1 (v/v) solution. This sensor forms a 1:1 complex with Hg2+ and shows a fluorescent enhancement with good tolerance of other metal ions. This sensor is very sensitive with fluorometric detection limit of 3.85?×?10?10 M. In addition, the fluorescent probe has practical application in cells imaging.  相似文献

Urea based fluorescent chemosensor 1 was synthesized. Receptor 1 shows unique selectivity for the Fe3+ion and no such significant response was noticed with other metal ions (Cr3+, Mn2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Cd2+, Hg2+, Pb2+ and Bi3+) in DMSO/H2O (50:50,v/v) semi-aqueous solution. The binding features have been established by absorption and fluorescence spectroscopic methods. The binding constant (K) values obtained from Benesi-Hildebrand, Scatchard and Connor plot for receptor 1 is (8.3?±?0.3) × 103 M?1 and has good detection limit 0.7?μM. The stoichiometry of 1.Fe3+ complex was confirmed by mass spectroscopy and Job’s plot.
