In this paper, we consider a multi-depot periodic vehicle routing problem which is characterized by the presence of a homogeneous fleet of vehicles, multiple depots, multiple periods, and two types of constraints that are often found in reality, i.e., vehicle capacity and route duration constraints. The objective is to minimize total travel costs. To tackle the problem, we propose an efficient path relinking algorithm whose exploration and exploitation strategies enable the algorithm to address the problem in two different settings: (1) As a stand-alone algorithm, and (2) As a part of a co-operative search algorithm called integrative co-operative search. The performance of the proposed path relinking algorithm is evaluated, in each of the above ways, based on standard benchmark instances. The computational results show that the developed PRA performs well, in both solution quality and computational efficiency.  相似文献

This paper presents a hybrid metaheuristic approach (HMA) for solving the unconstrained binary quadratic programming (UBQP) problem. By incorporating a tabu search procedure into the framework of evolutionary algorithms, the proposed approach exhibits several distinguishing features, including a diversification-based combination operator and a distance-and-quality based replacement criterion for pool updating. The proposed algorithm is able to easily obtain the best known solutions for 31 large random instances up to 7000 variables (which no previous algorithm has done) and find new best solutions for three of nine instances derived from the set-partitioning problem, demonstrating the efficacy of our proposed algorithm in terms of both solution quality and computational efficiency. Furthermore, some key elements and properties of the HMA algorithm are also analyzed.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a path relinking procedure for the fixed-charge capacitated multicommodity network design problem. Cycle-based neighbourhoods are used both to move along paths between elite solutions and to generate the elite candidate set by a tabu-like local search procedure. Several variants of the method are implemented and compared. Extensive computational experiments indicate that the path relinking procedure offers excellent results. It systematically outperforms the cycle-based tabu search method in both solution quality and computational effort and offers the best current meta-heuristic for this difficult class of problems.  相似文献

We propose a backbone-guided tabu search (BGTS) algorithm for the Unconstrained Binary Quadratic Programming (UBQP) problem that alternates between two phases: (1) a basic tabu search procedure to optimize the objective function as far as possible; (2) a strategy using the TS notion of strongly determined variables to alternately fix and free backbone components of the solutions which are estimated likely to share values in common with an optimal solution. Experimental results show that the proposed method is capable of finding the best-known solutions for 21 large random instances with 3000 to 7000 variables and boosts the performance of the basic TS in terms of both solution quality and computational efficiency.  相似文献

This paper presents a model for rural road network design that involves two objectives: maximize all season road connectivity among villages in a region and maximize route efficiency, while allocating a fix budget among a number of possible road projects. The problem is modeled as a bicriterion optimization problem and solved heuristically through a greedy randomized adaptive search procedure (GRASP) in conjunction with a path relinking procedure. The implementation of GRASP and path relinking includes two novel modifications, a new form of reactive GRASP and a new form of path relinking. Overall, the heuristic approach is streamlined through the incorporation of advanced network flow reoptimization techniques. Results indicate that this implementation outperforms both GRASP as well as a straightforward form of GRASP with path relinking. For small problem instances, for which optimality could be verified, this new, modified form of GRASP with path relinking solved all but one known instance optimally.  相似文献

This paper describes a tabu search heuristic with path relinking for the vehicle routing problem. Tabu search is a local search method that explores the solution space more thoroughly than other local search based methods by overcoming local optima. Path relinking is a method to integrate intensification and diversification in the search. It explores paths that connect previously found elite solutions. Computational results show that tabu search with path relinking is superior to pure tabu search on the vehicle routing problem.  相似文献

The flow-shop scheduling problem with the makespan criterion is a certain strongly NP-hard case from the domain of OR. This problem, having simple formulation contrasting with its troublesome, complex and time-consuming solution methods, is ideal for testing the quality of advanced combinatorial optimization algorithms. Although many excellent approximate algorithms for the flow-shop problem have been provided, up till now, in the literature, some theoretical and experimental problems associated with an algorithm’s activity still remain unexamined. In this paper, we provide a new view on the solution space and the search process. Relying upon it, we are proposing the new approximate algorithm, which applies some properties of neighborhoods, refers to the big valley phenomenon, uses some elements of the scatter search as well as the path relinking technique. This algorithm shows up to now unprecedented accuracy, obtainable within a short time on a PC, which has been confirmed in a wide variety of computer tests. Good properties of the algorithm remain scalable if the size of instances increases.  相似文献

为满足B2C电子商务中高效率、低成本配送需求,建立了两级定位-路径问题的三下标车流模型,提出了一种求解该问题的变邻域粒子群算法。该算法引入路径重连思想,将粒子群算法中粒子动态更新设计为当前解的邻域搜索、当前解与个体历史最优解之间的路径重连、当前解与种群历史最优解之间的路径重连;在此基础上,提出变邻域搜索策略,动态改变邻域结构以拓展搜索空间。实验结果表明,该算法能有效求解两级定位-路径问题。  相似文献

This paper considers a project scheduling problem with the objective of minimizing resource availability costs, taking into account a deadline for the project and precedence relations among the activities. Exact methods have been proposed for solving this problem, but we are not aware of existing heuristic methods. Scatter search is used to tackle this problem, and our implementation incorporates advanced strategies such as dynamic updating of the reference set, the use of frequency-based memory within the diversification generator, and a combination method based on path relinking. We also analyze the merit of employing a subset of different types when combining solutions. Extensive computational experiments involving more than 2400 instances are performed. For small instances, the performance of the proposed procedure is compared to optimal solutions generated by an exact cutting plane algorithm and upper and lower bounds from the literature. For medium and larger size instances, we developed simple multi-start heuristics and comparative results are reported.  相似文献

Recently, in the field of project scheduling problems the concept of partially renewable resources has been introduced. Theoretically, it is a generalization of both renewable and non-renewable resources. From an applied point of view, partially renewable resources allow us to model a large variety of situations that do not fit into classical models, but can be found in real problems in timetabling and labor scheduling. In this paper, we develop some preprocessing techniques and several heuristic algorithms for the problem. Preprocessing significantly reduces the dimension of the problems, therefore improving the efficiency of solution procedures. Heuristic algorithms based on GRASP and Path relinking are then developed and tested on existing test instances, obtaining excellent results.  相似文献

This paper introduces a new hybrid algorithmic nature inspired approach based on particle swarm optimization, for solving successfully one of the most popular logistics management problems, the location routing problem (LRP). The proposed algorithm for the solution of the location routing problem, the hybrid particle swarm optimization (HybPSO-LRP), combines a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm, the multiple phase neighborhood search – greedy randomized adaptive search procedure (MPNS-GRASP) algorithm, the expanding neighborhood search (ENS) strategy and a path relinking (PR) strategy. The algorithm is tested on a set of benchmark instances. The results of the algorithm are very satisfactory for these instances and for six of them a new best solution has been found.   相似文献

This paper deals with the problem of scheduling jobs in uniform parallel machines with sequence-dependent setup times in order to minimize the total tardiness relative to job due dates. We propose GRASP versions that incorporate adaptive memory principles for solving this problem. Long-term memory is used in the construction of an initial solution and in a post-optimization procedure which connects high quality local optima by means of path relinking. Computational tests are carried out on a set of benchmark instances and the proposed GRASP versions are compared with heuristic methods from the literature.  相似文献

When there is a perturbation in a carefully constructed aircraft schedule, e.g. an aircraft breakdown, it is important to minimize the negative consequences of this disturbance. Here, a tabu search and a simulated annealing approach to the flight perturbation problem are presented. The heuristics use a tree-search algorithm to find new schedules for the aircraft, and utilize a path relinking strategy to explore paths between structurally different solutions. The computational results indicate that the solution strategies, especially the tabu search, can be successfully used to solve the flight perturbation problem.  相似文献

Artificial neural networks (ANN) have been widely used for both classification and prediction. This paper is focused on the prediction problem in which an unknown function is approximated. ANNs can be viewed as models of real systems, built by tuning parameters known as weights. In training the net, the problem is to find the weights that optimize its performance (i.e., to minimize the error over the training set). Although the most popular method for training these networks is back propagation, other optimization methods such as tabu search or scatter search have been successfully applied to solve this problem. In this paper we propose a path relinking implementation to solve the neural network training problem. Our method uses GRG, a gradient-based local NLP solver, as an improvement phase, while previous approaches used simpler local optimizers. The experimentation shows that the proposed procedure can compete with the best-known algorithms in terms of solution quality, consuming a reasonable computational effort.  相似文献

This paper proposes a three-phase matheuristic solution strategy for the capacitated multi-commodity fixed-cost network design problem with design-balance constraints. The proposed matheuristic combines exact and neighbourhood-based methods. Tabu search and restricted path relinking meta-heuristics cooperate to generate as many feasible solutions as possible. The two meta-heuristics incorporate new neighbourhoods, and computationally efficient exploration procedures. The feasible solutions generated by the two procedures are then used to identify an appropriate part of the solution space where an exact solver intensifies the search. Computational experiments on benchmark instances show that the proposed algorithm finds good solutions to large-scale problems in a reasonable amount of time.  相似文献

Path relinking is a method to generate new solution by exploring trajectories that connect high quality solutions. In this paper, a class of new hybrid heuristics are proposed by combining a genetic algorithm and path relinking and applying these to a multiple-level warehouse layout problem. Parallel and series combinations to integrate crossover and mutation operations of a genetic algorithm with path relinking are investigated. We proposed position and sequence based path relinking methods to connect two solutions, which are either elites or ones selected randomly. Extensive experiments are carried out to compare the performance of the new heuristics.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the shortest path tour problem in which a shortest path from a given origin node to a given destination node must be found in a directed graph with non-negative arc lengths. Such path needs to cross a sequence of node subsets that are given in a fixed order. The subsets are disjoint and may be different-sized. A polynomial-time reduction of the problem to a classical shortest path problem over a modified digraph is described and two solution methods based on the above reduction and dynamic programming, respectively, are proposed and compared with the state-of-the-art solving procedure. The proposed methods are tested on existing datasets for this problem and on a large class of new benchmark instances. The computational experience shows that both the proposed methods exhibit a consistent improved performance in terms of computational time with respect to the existing solution method.  相似文献

We consider a multi-product two-stage production/distribution system design problem (PDSD) where a fixed number of capacitated distribution centers are to be located with respect to capacitated suppliers (plants) and retail locations (customers) while minimizing the total costs in the system. We present a mixed-integer problem formulation that facilitates the development of efficient heuristic procedures. We provide meta-heuristic procedures, including a population-based scatter search with path relinking and trajectory-based local and tabu search, for the solution of the problem. We also develop efficient construction heuristics and transshipment heuristics that are incorporated into the heuristic procedures for the solution of subproblems. We present extensive computational results that show the high performance of the solution approaches. We obtain smaller than 1.0% average optimality gaps with acceptable runtimes, even for relatively large problems. The computational results also demonstrate the effectiveness of the construction and transshipment heuristics that impact the solution quality and overall runtimes.  相似文献

In this paper, we focus on heuristic approaches for solving the deterministic job shop scheduling problem. More specifically, a new priority dispatch rule and hybrid rollout algorithms are developed for approaching the problem under consideration. The proposed solution algorithms are tested on a set of instances taken from the literature and compared with other methods. The computational results validate the effectiveness of the developed solution approaches and show that the proposed rollout algorithms are competitive with respect to several state-of-art heuristics for solving the job shop scheduling problem. We propose new iterated improvement neighborhood search algorithms for metaheuristic optimization by exploiting notions of conditional influence within a strategic oscillation framework. These approaches, which are unified within a class of methods called multi-wave algorithms, offer further refinements by memory based strategies that draw on the concept of persistent attractiveness. Our algorithms provide new forms of both neighborhood search methods and multi-start methods, and are readily embodied within evolutionary algorithms and memetic algorithms by solution combination mechanisms derived from path relinking. These methods can also be used to enhance branching strategies for mixed integer programming.  相似文献
