The use of boric acid as a modifier for the determination of trace amount of rubidium in high purity cesium chloride matrix by electrothermal atomic absorption is described. It was found that the negative influence of the chloride matrix could not be eliminated using stabilized temperature platform (STPF) alone. Due to the high dissociation energy (D0 = 427 kJ mol−1) of rubidium chloride, it was difficult to dissociate in the gas phase and hence is lost. Elimination of interferences was achieved by the addition of boric acid as a chemical modifier. Diluted cesium chloride samples (5%, m/v) were analyzed applying the standard addition method. The characteristic mass of 24 pg was obtained. The detection limit of the proposed method is around 26 ng g−1. The developed method was applied to the determination of traces of rubidium in high purity cesium chloride samples. The data obtained by this method were in good agreement with those obtained by other independent method like FAAS. 相似文献

Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were proposed as a new chemical modifier for the elimination of interferences when determining arsenic and antimony in aqueous NaCl or Na2SO4 solutions and in sea-water by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry. For this purpose, the AgNPs were prepared simply by reducing silver nitrate with sodium citrate. The effects of pyrolysis and atomization temperatures and the amounts of interferents and modifiers on the sensitivities of these elements were investigated. In the presence of the proposed modifier, a pyrolysis temperature of at least 1100 °C for arsenic and 900 °C for antimony could be applied without the loss of analytes, and the interferences were greatly reduced to allow for interference-free determination. The detection limits (N = 10, 3σ) for arsenic and antimony were 0.022 ng and 0.046 ng, respectively. AgNPs are cheaper and more available compared to many other modifiers. No background was detected, and the blank values were negligible. 相似文献

A simple and sensitive method for using electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ET AAS) with Rh as permanent modifier determination of Sb(III) and total Sb after separation and preconcentration by N-benzoyl-N-phenylhydroxylamine (BPHA)-chloroform single drop has been developed. Parameters, such as pyrolysis and atomization temperature, solvent type, pH, BPHA concentration, extraction time, drop size, stirring rate and sample volume were investigated. Under the optimized experimental conditions, the detection limits (3σ) were 8.0 ng L−1 for Sb(III) and 9.2 ng L−1 for total Sb, respectively. The relative standard deviations (R.S.Ds.) were 6.6% for Sb(III) and 7.1% for total Sb (c = 0.2 ng mL−1, n = 7), respectively. The enrichment factor was 96. The developed method has been applied successfully to the determination of Sb(III) and total Sb in natural water samples. 相似文献

A method for the determination of arsenic in slurries of mussel tissue using palladium-magnesium nitrate as modifier was optimized. The slurry was stabilized by a 0.015% (v/v) of Triton X-100. To achieve complete mineralization the slurries were ashed at 480 °C for 10s in an air flow (50 ml/min) and at 1200 °C for 15s in an argon flow (300 ml/min) in the presence of Pd—Mg(NO3)2 as modifier. The optimum atomization temperature was 2200 °C. The precision and accuracy of the method were studied using the Reference Material BCR n ° 278 Mussel Tissue (Mytilus edulis). The detection limit (LOD) of the final slurry solution was 1 g/l of arsenic corresponding to an arsenic level in the mussel of 1.3 g/g, for a 0.5% (m/v) slurry. Results of calibration using aqueous standards and the standard additions method were compared. The method was applied to the determination of arsenic in mussels from the Galician coast. The levels found lie between 2 and 9.3 g/g of arsenic. 相似文献

For comparison of action of mixed permanent modifiers Ir/Nb and Ir/W, the influence of the amounts of modifier components was studied and the atomic absorption pyrolysis and atomization curves were determined with different modifiers. The optimum amounts of modifier components were 30 μg Ir and 40 μg of Nb that were deposited onto the L'vov platform in advance to analytical measurements. The long-term performance of the Ir and Nb permanent modifiers was derived from the investigations by scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry. The soil and sediment slurries were prepared in 4% hydrofluoric acid and 6% suspension of polytetrafluoroethylene in order to remove the high concentration of silica during the pyrolysis step of 900 °C. The calibration was made by using aqueous standards. The analysis of certified reference materials confirmed the accuracy and reliability of the proposed analytical approach. The precision of Sb determination was characterized with less than 6% RSD. 相似文献

Electrothermal atomization of beryllium from graphite and tungsten surfaces was compared with and without the use of various chemical modifiers. Tungsten proved to be the best substrate, giving the more sensitive integrated atomic absorption signals of beryllium. Tungsten platform atomization with zirconium as a chemical modifier was used for the determination of beryllium in several NIST SRM certified reference samples, with good agreement obtained between the results found and the certified values. The precision of the measurements (at 10 μg L−1), the limit of detection (3σ), and the characteristic mass of beryllium were 2.50%, 0.009 μg L−1 and 0.42 pg, respectively. 相似文献

An electrically heated tungsten coil was used as a trap in the determination of antimony. The technique consists of three steps. Initially, SbH3 is formed by hydride generation procedure; then the analyte species in vapor form are transported to W-coil trap heated at 370 °C. Following the preconcentration step, the trap is heated to 895 °C; analyte species are revolatilized and transported to the flame-heated quartz atom cell where atomization and the formation of signal take place. The experimental parameters were optimized both for trap and no-trap studies. The most important experimental parameters are concentrations of HCl and NaBH4 solutions, H2 and Ar gas flow rates, and collection and revolatilization temperatures of W-coil. Accuracy was tested using a certified reference material, waste water EU-L-1. Limit of detection for the system is 16 ng l− 1 using a sample of 36 ml collected in 4.0 min. Enhancement factor in sensitivity was 17. 相似文献

Ruthenium (Ru), thermally deposited on a integrated platform graphite furnace, was investigated as a permanent modifier for the determination of Aluminum (Al) in blood serum and urine by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS). The platform was treated with 500 μg of Ru as previously described. The pyrolysis and atomization temperatures for each material were of 1300 and 2300 °C, for serum sample and of 1000 and 2400 °C, for urine. The characteristic mass were of 31 and 33 pg for Al in serum sample and urine, respectively (recommended of 31 pg for Al in nitric acid 0.2% (v/v)). For this reason, the calibration was made with aqueous solutions for both the samples. Calibration curves presented r of 0.99145 and 0.99991 for serum and urine, respectively. With the optimized temperatures, being analyzed eight spiked blood serum samples, the recovery was between 95.90 and 113.50%. Two certified urines samples were analyzed with good agreement between experimental and reference values. In both the samples the R.S.D. were <5% (n=3). The detection limit (k=3, n=10) was of 0.40 μg of Al per liter for both the samples. The absorption pulses obtained were symmetrical, with very low background and without interferences. The life time of the tube-platform was higher than 600 cycles of atomizations for both the urine and serum samples. 相似文献

The kinetic parameters of indium atomization in electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) have been determined by a newly proposed method. Effect of the atomizer surface and the palladium modifier on the kinetics of indium atomization has been investigated. The mechanisms of indium atomization seem to be identical for the pyrolytically coated graphite and the uncoated graphite tubes, i.e. the rate-limiting step for the atomization changes from a first order kinetics at lower temperatures into a nearly 1/3 order kinetics at higher temperatures, which may suggest that the analyte moves from a dispersed state to agglomates with increasing temperature. However, for the zirconium coated graphite tube, the atomization of indium is controlled by a single mechanism with the kinetic order of near 2/3 and the activation energy of 186 ± 13 kJ/mol. Relatively weak indium—zirconium carbide interactions and the release of indium from the sphere of molten indium metal on the zirconium coated surface are suggested. In the presence of palladium, a simple mechanism, i.e. the release of indium from the solid solution of the In and the Pd on the pyrolytically coated graphite surface, is proposed to account for the observed first order kinetics and the activation energy of 421 ± 27 kJ/mol. 相似文献

The feasibility of Ru as a permanent modifier for the determination of Cd in biological samples treated with tetramethylammonium hydroxide (TMAH) by ET AAS was investigated. The tube treatment with Ru was carried out only once and lasted for about 300 atomization cycles. The pyrolysis and atomization temperatures, 750 °C and 1300 °C, respectively, were chosen from the temperature curves. The sample dissolution procedure was very simple: a sample aliquot was mixed with a small volume of a 25% m/v TMAH solution, the volume was made up to 50 ml and the mixture was kept at 60 °C for 1 h. Six certified biological reference materials were analyzed and the obtained Cd concentrations are within the 95% confidence interval of the certified values, proving the accuracy of the proposed procedure for a variety of biological samples. The calibration curve, with correlation coefficient higher than 0.99, was established for a working range up to10 μg l−1. The precision was good as demonstrated by relative standard deviations below 3%, except for one sample. The limit of detection (3σ) was 0.05 μg l−1 and the characteristic mass was 1.30 pg, obtained in the presence of the Ru modifier. 相似文献

Liquid-liquid extraction preconcentration technique which allows the achievement of extremely high ratio between the aqueous and organic phase was specified as semi-microextraction. A modified highly effective liquid phase semi-microextraction (LSME) procedure was developed for preconcentration and determination of ultra trace levels of inorganic antimony species in environmental waters using electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) for quantification. Antimony(III) species were selectively extracted as dithiocarbamate complexes from 100 mL aqueous phase into 250 μL xylene at pH range of 5-8. Total Sb was determined using the same extraction system over a sample acidity range of pH 0-1.2 without the need for pre-reduction of Sb(V) to Sb(III). The concentration of Sb(V) was obtained as the difference between that of total antimony and Sb(III). With an 8 min extraction an enrichment factor of 400 was achieved. The limit of detection (3 s) was 2 ng L−1 Sb. The method was not affected by the presence of up to 0.01% humic acid, 0.025 mol L−1 EDTA, 0.01 mol L−1 tartaric acid and 0.001 mol L−1 F−. Recoveries of spiked Sb(III) and Sb(V) in river, tap, and sea water samples ranged from 93 to 108%. The results for total antimony concentration in the river water reference material SLRS-5 were in good agreement with the information value. The procedure was applied to the determination and quantification of dissolved antimony species in natural waters. 相似文献

This paper reports the determination of arsenic and antimony in naphtha by employing electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) as the analytical technique. In order to promote the direct determination of the analytes in the very volatile naphtha, the formation of a microemulsion with different surfactants (Triton X-100 and Brij-35) and different chemical modification strategies were tested. The results indicated that Triton X-100 is the best emulsification agent for naphtha in both As and Sb determination when it is employed at a concentration of 1% w/v in the microemulsion. Under these conditions, the microemulsion was stabile for at least 2 h. By using Brij-35 it was possible to achieve good stability only in the first 15 min. Among all chemical modification approaches investigated (Ir permanent modifier, W-Ir permanent modifier, and Pd modifier), the Ir permanent modifier provided better sensitivity for both analytes and allowed a higher pyrolysis temperature, which decreased the background signals at lower levels. Under the best conditions established in this work, an RSD of 4.6% (20 g L–1) and a detection limit of 2.7 g L–1 were observed for arsenic. For antimony, an RSD of 4.0% (20 g L–1) and a detection limit of 2.5 g L–1 were obtained. The accuracy of the procedure was assessed by analyzing spiked samples of naphtha from different origins. 相似文献

An efficient and sensitive method for the determination of methylmercury in biological samples was developed based on acid
leaching extraction of methylmercury into toluene. Methylmercury in the organic phase was determined by electrothermal atomic
absorption spectrometry (ETAAS). The methylmercury signal was enhanced and the reproducibility increased by formation of certain
complexes and addition of Pd-DDC modifier. The complex of methylmercury with DDC produced the optimum analytical signal in
terms of sensitivity and reproducibility compared to complexes with dithizone, cysteine, 1,10-phenanthroline, and diethyldithiocarbamate.
Method performance was optimized by modifying parameters such as temperature of mineralization, atomization, and gas flow
rate. The limit of detection for methylmercury determination was 0.015 μg g−1 and the RSD of the whole procedure was 12% for human teeth samples (n=5) and 15.8% for hair samples (n=5). The method’s accuracy was investigated by using NIES-13 and by spiking the samples with different amounts of methylmercury.
The results were in good agreement with the certified values and the recoveries were 88–95%. 相似文献

Cadmium, lead, copper and manganese were determined in human deciduous teeth and bone ash 1400 standard reference material by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS), using a lanthanum + palladium + citric acid (CA) modifier mixture. Optimum masses and mass ratios of La, La + Pd and La + Pd + CA modifiers for analytes in bone ash 1400 sample solution were investigated. Pyrolysis and atomization temperatures of analytes in a tooth sample solution were obtained with and without modifiers. The mixture of La + Pd + CA was found to be preferable for the determination of analytes in tooth samples and bone ash 1400, dissolved in a mixture of HNO3 + H2O2. The detection limits and characteristic masses of analytes were obtained with or without modifiers based on integrated absorbance for tooth sample solution (2% m/v). The detection limits obtained with La + Pd + CA are 6,24,16 and 46 ng g?1 for Cd, Cu, Mn and Pb, respectively. Recovery tests for analytes in bone ash 1400 and a tooth solution with La and La + Pd + CA modifier mixture were studied and compared with certified and non certified values. The La + Pd + CA mixture was also applied to the determination of Cd, Pb, Cu and Mn in tooth samples. 相似文献

Various modifiers (ascorbic acid, NH4NO3, EDTA, NH4SCN and a mixture of Pd/Mg(NO3)2) are compared for the accurate determination of vanadium in natural waters by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry. The interferences of compounds commonly present in natural waters, such as NaCl, CaCl2, MgCl2 and FeCl3 are studied. Matrix interferences were effectively eliminated by ascorbic acid or ammonium nitrate. For comparison, the standard addition method was applied without a modifier which provided satisfactory results. The accuracy of the method was confirmed by analysis of certified reference materials of waters (‘Trace Metals in Drinking Water’ and SRM 1643e ‘Trace Elements in Water’) as well as by recoveries of vanadium spiked to tap water, mineral water, synthetic riverine and synthetic sea waters. The limits of detection and characteristic masses for ascorbic acid and ammonium nitrate as the modifiers were 1.71 and 1.56?µg?L?1 and 70 and 67?pg, respectively. Recovery was in the range of 98–105% and RSD was less than 5%. 相似文献

Most comparative studies on the efficiency of chemical modifiers have been conducted in aqueous media. In the present work, we proposed a detailed study of the use of different chemical modifiers for direct determination of arsenic in complex organic matrices by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS). Palladium, rhodium, tungsten, silver, lanthanum and a mixture of palladium and magnesium were tested. The figures of merit used for evaluation and comparison were acquired in the optimal conditions for each modifier, established by multivariate optimization of the main variables based on Doehlert designs. Singular features were observed for the chemical behaviour of some modifiers in organic matrices compared to aqueous media, such as the worse performance of Pd + Mg modifier and no notice of severe tube corrosion from La application. Lanthanum was chosen as the best chemical modifier for the present application, according to predefined criteria. Lanthanum showed the minimum limit of detection, characteristic concentration and blank signal among all tested species and no effect of the concomitants usually present in petrochemical feedstocks. Using a 200 mg L−1 lanthanum solution as a chemical modifier, the average relative standard deviations of 7 and 16% (at 3-15 μg L−1 level) and characteristic concentrations of 0.47 and 0.77 μg L−1 for naphtha and petroleum condensates, respectively, were observed. 相似文献

In this work, a simple preconcentration system, achieved by replacing the sample tip of the autosampler arm by a micro-column packed with Amberlite IRA-910 or silica gel chelating resin functionalised with 1,5-bis(di-2-pyridyl)methylene tbiocarbohydrazide (DPTH-gel), is developed for the determination of Sb(V) and total antimony, respectively. Different factors including pH of sample solution, ionic strength, concentration and volume of eluent, sample flow rate, sample loading time and matrix effects for preconcentration were investigated. The method has been applied to the determination of antimony species in different samples. 相似文献

A method was developed for the determination of selenium in human milk using electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry. The use of chemical modifiers as well as their implications during the pyrolysis step was examined. The chemical modifiers that were studied were Zr, Ir as well as the mixed modifier Zr-Ir. The Ir modifier stabilized selenium at 1000 °C, Zr at 800 °C, while the mixed modifier at 1200 °C. The effect of modifier mass was studied and was found that better results are achieved with addition of 2 μg Zr and 2 μg Ir. The characteristic masses of selenium in the presence of Zr, Ir and the mixed modifier were found to be 73.3, 18.0 and 14.7 pg, respectively, while the corresponding limits of detection were found 2.0, 0.50 and 0.41 μg l−1. Consequently better results were obtained with the mixed modifier. The developed method was applied for the determination of selenium in human milk, which was digested with a HNO3 + H2O2 mixture in a microwave oven. The limit of detection of the method was 1.37 μg l−1, the characteristic mass, m0, was 48.8 pg and the repeatability was less than 5% as R.S.D.(%). Matrix matched calibration was used. Recoveries were estimated to be 93-105%. The method was applied to breast milk of Greek women (n = 9) and the Se content was found to be in the range 16.7-42.6 μg l−1 with mean value 27.4 ± 5.5 μg l−1. 相似文献
