Welded components suffer from high tensile residual stresses close to the weld beads. These stresses seem to be the origin of premature cracking which could result in a catastrophic rupture during operation and a reduction of the lifespan of these components. In this context, the Hydro-Québec’s Research Institute (IREQ) developed a technique of residual stresses relaxation by robotized hammer peening which makes it possible to release stresses close to surface and preserve the mechanical and dimensional properties of manufactured components. Robotized hammer peening was used to induce compressive residual stresses on initially stress free samples of austenitic stainless steel 304L. Hammer peening layers from one to nine were performed and the resulting residual stresses were evaluated thanks to the contour technique. Complete 2D residual stress fields on samples cross sections were obtained. The ability of hammer peening to relax residual stresses within welded plates was then quantified on austenitic stainless steel 304L plates welded with a 308 steel and hammer peened. These tests show the efficiency of hammer peening as a method to relax tensile residual stresses and induce compressive ones to a depth of a few millimetres. Process parameters were optimized such as the number of hammer peening layers to be applied to reduce processing time and maximization of the intensity and spatial distribution of the compressive residual stresses.  相似文献

本文应用弹塑性理论研究了被测试样的屈服强度、应力场对钻孔法测量残余应力过程中钻孔附加应变的影响,使用简化的理论模型推导了低速旋转钻头钻孔产生附加应变的一般表达式.结果表明钻孔引入的附加应变与被测试样的原始残余应力状态有关,随应力水平增加而增大,在压应力减小到某一临界值σ时,钻孔附加应变为零。在 Ly12铝合金上的实验测量结果与理论结果一致。  相似文献

电测法测定压力容器的残余应力,关键取决于屈服应力的确定。本文基于平面应力屈服条件,通过薄壁筒压力容器非膜应力部位的组合应力轨迹,用图解的方法研讨了测点的屈服应力。结果发现,残余应力和弯曲应力均可改变薄膜应力轨迹,以致组合应力部位的屈服应力不同于薄膜应力部位,但是,拉应力区域,第一主应力方向的Tresca屈服应力均为sσ。根据应力轨迹与屈服轨迹之交点的应力符合屈服条件的原理,通过分解薄壁筒焊缝的电测应力曲线,探讨了测点第二主应力方向的Tresca屈服应力以及用Mises屈服轨迹得到残余应力的方法。探究结果表明,压力容器的残余拉应力可以通过电测应力用图解方法得以测定,并且其测试精度可满足工程要求。基于平面应力屈服条件,研讨了压力容器非膜应力部位的组合应力轨迹,并根据应力轨迹与屈服轨迹之交点的应力符合屈服条件的原理,用薄壁筒的电测应力曲线,探究了图解法测定压力容器残余应力的可行性。结果表明,图解法可用于压力容器残余拉应力的测定,并且其测试精度可满足工程要求。  相似文献

Hole cold expansion is a technique widely used to improve the fatigue life of components with holes, e.g. bolted or riveted joints. As it has been demonstrated in literature by analytical, numerical and experimental analyses carried out by several authors, the compressive residual stresses introduced by the hole cold expansion have a beneficial influence on both the static and the fatigue strength of the treated component, because they reduce significantly the typical stress peaks around the hole due to stress concentration. In the literature, various analyses of the residual stresses introduced by the hole cold expansion have been performed by using several methods such as X-ray diffraction, neutron diffraction and the modified Sachs method. Unfortunately, all these method are affected by some limitations: low measurement depth (X-ray method), complex measurement procedure (neutron diffraction method) and approximate formulation (Sachs method). In order to overcome such drawbacks, in this study a new mechanical method, based on an innovative extension of the “rectilinear groove method” associated with the classical “integral method” calculation procedure, is proposed. Experimental assessment of the proposed method has been performed by using aluminum 5083 H321 specimens with holes subjected to various levels of cold expansion.  相似文献

An improved method of indent pairs is utilised to determine residual stresses in high speed milling specimens of AA 6082-T6 and AA 7075-T6 aluminium alloys. To carry out the measurement procedure, this approach does not need specific equipment but only requires a universal measuring machine and an oven. An indentation device is incorporated to the measuring machine, which allows reducing the absolute error of measurement to just ±0.9 MPa. The geometry of the tool and cutting parameters are selected to evaluate the sensitivity of the method. The residual stress distributions generated by high speed milling are exhaustively evaluated taking into account orthogonal components of cutting speed and tangential force, which are parallel and perpendicular to feed direction.  相似文献

本文针对钻孔法测量残余应力中一些不能用“释放”理论解释的问题,通过对钻孔法基本测量原理的分析和与其它传统电测方法对比,认为常用于测量残余应力的电测方法中钻孔法应定义为“干扰法”,切条法和套孔法为“释放法”,Sach's镗削法则为“干扰-释放法”.根据实验结果推荐公式=(λ-1)~(1/2)为预测钻孔深度的经验公式.同时应用“干扰”理论分析了压痕法测量残余应力的基本特性,提出压痕法与电测法结合将发展成为一种近似无损的测量残余应力的新方法.  相似文献

Applied stresses on a residual stress model have previously been obtained by measuring the residual stresses and the resultant stresses generated by applying a load. The present paper reports that the applied stresses and the residual stresses on the residual stress model can be obtained by measuring two resultant stresses generated by applying loads of two different magnitudes. In the proposed method, the residual stresses need not be obtained from the residual stress model before applying a load. The residual stress model used to test the proposed method is a circular disk with frozen stresses that is subjected to a diametral compressive load at a certain angle. The applied stresses and the residual stresses on a residual stress model were experimentally and precisely obtained by digital photoelasticity using linearly polarized light.  相似文献

This paper describes a method for extending the capability of the contour method to allow for the measurement of spatially varying multi-axial residual stresses in prismatic, continuously processed bodies. Currently, the contour method is used to determine a 2D map of the residual stress normal to a plane. This work uses an approach similar to the contour method to quantify multiple components of eigenstrain in continuously processed bodies, which are used to calculate residual stress. The result of the measurement is an estimate of the full residual stress tensor at every point in the body. The approach is first outlined for a 2D body and the accuracy of the methodology is demonstrated for a representative case using a numerical experiment. Next, an extension to the 3D case is given and the accuracy is demonstrated for representative cases using numerical experiments. Finally, measurements are performed on a thin sheet of Ti-6Al-4V with a band of laser peening down the center (assumed to be 2D) and a thick laser peened plate of 316L stainless steel to show that the approach is valid under real experimental conditions.  相似文献

A study was conducted to develop a methodology to obtain near-surface residual stresses for laser-peened aluminium alloy samples using the contour method. After cutting trials to determine the optimal cut parameters, surface contours were obtained and a new data analysis method based on spline smoothing was applied. A new criterion for determining the optimal smoothing parameters is introduced. Near-surface residual stresses obtained from the contour method were compared with X-ray diffraction and incremental hole drilling results. It is concluded that with optimal cutting parameters and data analysis, reliable near-surface residual stresses can be obtained by the contour method.  相似文献

通过小孔法与分割法对φ272mm螺旋埋弧焊管和φ380mm对接焊管的残余应力测试,分析探讨了螺旋焊缝、环焊缝以及焊缝热影响区的残余应力分布。研究结果表明,不同工艺焊接成型的圆管,其焊缝纵向均匀为拉应力分布,焊缝横向均为压应力分布,焊缝热影响区的残余应力分布各异。  相似文献

The hole drilling method is one of the most used semi-destructive techniques for the analysis of residual stresses in mechanical components. The non-uniform stresses are evaluated by solving an integral equation in which the strains relieved by drilling a hole are introduced. In this paper a new calculation procedure, based on the Newton-Raphson method for the determination of zeroes of functions, is presented. This technique allows the user to introduce complex and effective forms of stress functions for the solution of the problem. All the relationships needed for the evaluation of the stresses are obtained in explicit form, eliminating the need to use additional mathematical tools. The technique is based on a rather general theory that allows to obtain the formulations of various existing techniques as particular cases.  相似文献

Residual Stresses Induced by Cold Expansion of Adjacent and Cut-Out Holes   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Fatigue life of fastener holes can be enhanced via a cold-expansion process to introduce a compressive residual stress field around the hole edge and to reduce crack growth propagation. Considering that aerospace components contain multiple rows of holes, the present investigation focuses on the evaluation of the three-dimensional residual stress distribution in adjacent cold-expanded (CE) holes. The redistribution of residual stresses caused by a cut introduced between two adjacent holes was also investigated. Finite element (FE) analysis and experimental technique were used to assess the residual stress distribution in a 6082-T6 aluminum plate with two adjacent holes expanded sequentially at 4 % nominal interference. The influence of center-to-center distance between holes was explored to assess the optimal level of separation between adjacent holes. Results suggested that residual stresses near second CE hole are markedly lower than those of first CE hole and that a cutting process does not affect the beneficial compressive residual stress around CE holes. These effects may delay fatigue crack propagation from CE holes or cut-out holes.  相似文献
