In this paper, we first establish a constant rank theorem for the second fundamental form of the convex level sets of harmonic functions in space forms. Applying the deformation process, we prove that the level sets of the harmonic functions on convex rings in space forms are strictly convex. Moreover, we give a lower bound for the Gaussian curvature of the convex level sets of harmonic functions in terms of the Gaussian curvature of the boundary and the norm of the gradient on the boundary.  相似文献

Green’s function for isotropic thermoelastic two-phase infinite plane under a line heat source is established in this paper. By virtue of the fourth compact general solutions in Part I which is expressed in three harmonic functions, six new suitable harmonic functions with undetermined constants are constructed for the two semi-infinite planes of the two-phase infinite plane, respectively. The corresponding thermoelastic field can be obtained by substituting these harmonic functions into the general solution, and the undetermined constants can be determined by compatibility conditions and the equilibrium conditions. Numerical results are given graphically by contours.  相似文献

Based on the two-dimensional steady-state governing equations of isotropic thermoelastic material and the compact general solution expressed in three harmonic functions, the corresponding three harmonic functions contain nine undetermined constants are constructed for a line heat source applied in the interior of a semi-infinite thermoelastic plane. All components of thermoelastic field in the semi-infinite plane can be derived by substituting the harmonic functions into the general solution. And the undetermined constants can be obtained by the compatibility conditions, equilibrium conditions and the different boundary conditions for extended Mindlin problem and extended Lorentz problem. Thus, the Green’s functions in above two cases are obtained, and the numerical results are given graphically by contours.  相似文献

We prove regularity estimates for functions which are harmonic with respect to certain jump processes. The aim of this article is to extend the method of Bass–Levin (2002) [3] and Bogdan–Sztonyk (2005) [6] to more general processes. We consider a free interpolation problem in Nevanlinna and Smirnov classes and find a characterization of the corresponding interpolating sequences in terms of the existence of harmonic majorants of certain functions. We also consider the related problem of characterizing positive functions in the disk having a harmonic majorant. An answer is given in terms of a dual relation which involves positive measures in the disk with bounded Poisson balayage. We deduce necessary and sufficient geometric conditions, both expressed in terms of certain maximal functions.  相似文献

The aim of this work is to introduce and investigate a new class of log-biharmonic functions. Certain geometrically motivated properties and results concerning starlikeness, convexity and univalence of elements within this class versus the corresponding harmonic functions are obtained and discussed. The 2D steady-state solutions regarding the expressions of stress and strain for fluid-saturated, orthotropic, poroelastic plane are derived in this paper. For this object, the general solutions of the corresponding governing equation are first obtained and expressed in harmonic functions. Based on these compact general solutions, the suitable harmonic functions with undetermined constants for line fluid source in the interior of infinite poroelastic body and a line fluid source on the surface of semi-infinite poroelastic body are presented, respectively. The fundamental solutions can be obtained by substituting these functions into the general solution, and the undetermined constants can be obtained by the continuous conditions, equilibrium conditions and boundary conditions.  相似文献

We consider a two‐dimensional transport equation subject to small diffusive perturbations. The transport equation is given by a Hamiltonian flow near a compact and connected heteroclinic cycle. We investigate approximately harmonic functions corresponding to the generator of the perturbed transport equation. In particular, we investigate such functions in the boundary layer near the heteroclinic cycle; the space of these functions gives information about the likelihood of a particle moving a mesoscopic distance into one of the regions where the transport equation corresponds to periodic oscillations (i.e., a “well” of the Hamiltonian). We find that we can construct such approximately harmonic functions (which can be used as “corrector functions” in certain averaging questions) when certain macroscopic “gluing conditions” are satisfied. This provides a different perspective on some previous work of Freidlin and Wentzell on stochastic averaging of Hamiltonian systems. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

We initiate a study of harmonic functions on hypergroups. In particular, we introduce the concept of a nilpotent hypergroup and show such hypergroup admits an invariant measure as well as a Liouville theorem for bounded harmonic functions. Further, positive harmonic functions on nilpotent hypergroups are shown to be integrals of exponential functions. For arbitrary hypergroups, we derive a Harnack inequality for positive harmonic functions and prove a Liouville theorem for compact hypergroups. All positive harmonic functions in an arbitrary domain of a Euclidean space can be described in terms of the so-called exit boundary. This was established in 1941 by R.S. Martin. A probabilistic approach to the Martin theory is due to Doob and Hunt. It was extended later to harmonic functions associated with a wide class of Markov processes. The subject of this paper are harmonic functions associated with a superdiffusion X (we call them X-harmonic). The results of Evans and Perkins imply the existence and uniqueness of an integral representation of positive X-harmonic functions through extreme functions. An outstanding problem is to find all extremal functions (they are in 1-1 correspondence with the points of the exit boundary).An interest in X-harmonic functions is motivated, in part, by the fact that each of them provides a way of conditioning a superprocess. Path properties of conditioned superprocesses (corresponding to various special X-harmonic functions) were investigated by a number of authors.Important classes of X-harmonic functions are related to positive solutions of semilinear partial differential equations. Almost nothing is known about their decomposition into extreme elements. A progress in this direction may create new tools for investigating solutions of the equations.The goal of this paper is to summarize all known facts about X-harmonic functions, to present the results of various authors in a more general setting in a unified form and to outline a program of further work.  相似文献
