Any classical solution of the two-dimensional incompressible Euler equation is global in time. However, it remains an outstanding open problem whether classical solutions of the surface quasi-geostrophic (SQG) equation preserve their regularity for all time. This paper studies solutions of a family of active scalar equations in which each component u j of the velocity field u is determined by the scalar θ through \({u_j =\mathcal{R}\Lambda^{-1}P(\Lambda) \theta}\) , where \({\mathcal{R}}\) is a Riesz transform and Λ = (?Δ)1/2. The two-dimensional Euler vorticity equation corresponds to the special case P(Λ) = I while the SQG equation corresponds to the case P(Λ) = Λ. We develop tools to bound \({\|\nabla u||_{L^\infty}}\) for a general class of operators P and establish the global regularity for the Loglog-Euler equation for which P(Λ) = (log(I + log(I ? Δ))) γ with 0 ≦ γ ≦ 1. In addition, a regularity criterion for the model corresponding to P(Λ) = Λ β with 0 ≦ β ≦ 1 is also obtained.  相似文献

In this paper, the well-established two-dimensional mathematical model for linear pyroelectric materials is employed to investigate the reflection of waves at the boundary between a vacuum and an elastic, transversely isotropic, pyroelectric material. A comparative study between the solutions of (a) classical thermoelasticity, (b) Cattaneo–Lord–Shulman theory and (c) Green–Lindsay theory equations, characterised by none, one and two relaxation times, respectively, is presented. Suitable boundary conditions are considered in order to determine the reflection coefficients when incident elasto–electro–thermal waves impinge the free interface. It is established that, in the quasi-electrostatic approximation, three different classes of waves: (1) two principally elastic waves, namely a quasi-longitudinal Primary (qP) wave and a quasi-transverse Secondary (qS) wave; and (2) a mainly thermal (qT) wave. The observed electrical effects are, on the other hand, a direct consequence of mechanical and thermal phenomena due to pyroelectric coupling. The computed reflection coefficients of plane qP waves are found to depend upon the angle of incidence, the elastic, electric and thermal parameters of the medium, as well as the thermal relaxation times. The special cases of normal and grazing incidence are also derived and discussed. Finally, the reflection coefficients are computed for cadmium selenide observing the influence of (1) the anisotropy of the material, (2) the electrical potential and (3) temperature variations and (4) the thermal relaxation times on the reflection coefficients.  相似文献

We derive the new effective governing equations for linear elastic composites subject to a body force that admits a Helmholtz decomposition into inhomogeneous scalar and vector potentials. We assume that the microscale, representing the distance between the inclusions (or fibers) in the composite, and its size (the macroscale) are well separated. We decouple spatial variations and assume microscale periodicity of every field. Microscale variations of the potentials induce a locally unbounded body force. The problem is homogenizable, as the results, obtained via the asymptotic homogenization technique, read as a well-defined linear elastic model for composites subject to a regular effective body force. The latter comprises both macroscale variations of the potentials, and nonstandard contributions which are to be computed solving a well-posed elastic cell problem which is solely driven by microscale variations of the potentials. We compare our approach with an existing model for locally unbounded forces and provide a simplified formulation of the model which serves as a starting point for its numerical implementation. Our formulation is relevant to the study of active composites, such as electrosensitive and magnetosensitive elastomers.  相似文献

The existing theories of finite-time stability depend on a prescribed bound on initial disturbances and a prescribed threshold for allowable responses. It remains a challenge to identify the critical value of loading parameter for finite time instability observed in experiments without the need of specifying any prescribed threshold for allowable responses. Based on an energy balance analysis of a simple dynamic system, this paper proposes a general criterion for finite time stability which indicates that finite time stability of a linear dynamic system with constant coefficients during a given time interval [0, t f ] is guaranteed provided the product of its maximum growth rate (determined by the maximum eigen-root p1 >0) and the duration t f does not exceed 2, i.e., p1t f <2. The proposed criterion (p1t f =2) is applied to several problems of impacted buckling of elastic columns: (i) an elastic column impacted by a striking mass, (ii) longitudinal impact of an elastic column on a rigid wall, and (iii) an elastic column compressed at a constant speed (“Hoff problem”), in which the time-varying axial force is replaced approximately by its average value over the time duration. Comparison of critical parameters predicted by the proposed criterion with available experimental and simulation data shows that the proposed criterion is in robust reasonable agreement with the known data, which suggests that the proposed simple criterion (p1t f =2) can be used to estimate critical parameters for finite time stability of dynamic systems governed by linear equations with constant coefficients.  相似文献

We consider the stress-strain state of a plate having a doubly connected domain S bounded from the outside by a circle of radius R and from the inside by an ellipse with two rectilinear cuts. The cuts lie symmetrically on the x-axis. The plate is subjected to various forces: the hole contour (the ellipse) is under the action of uniformly distributed forces of intensity q, and the cut shores are free of loads; at the points ±ib of the imaginary axis, the plate is under the action of a lumped force P.The solution of the problem is reduced to determining two analytic functions φ(z) and ψ(z) satisfying certain boundary conditions (depending on the type of the acting loads). We use the Kolosov-Muskhelishvili method to reduce the problem to a system of linear algebraic equations for the coefficients in the expansions of the functions φ(z) and ψ(z). The solution thus obtained is illustrated by numerical examples.  相似文献

In this paper, the basic equations of motion, of Gauss and of heat conduction, together with constitutive relations for pyro- and piezoelectric media, are presented. Three thermoelastic theories are considered: classical dynamical coupled theory, the Lord–Shulman theory with one relaxation time and Green and Lindsay theory with two relaxation times. For incident elastic longitudinal, potential electric and thermal waves, referred to as qP, φ-mode and T-mode waves, which impinge upon the interface between two different transversal isotropic media, reflection and refraction coefficients are obtained by solving a set of linear algebraic equations. A case study is investigated: a system formed by two semi-infinite, hexagonal symmetric, pyroelectric–piezoelectric media, namely Cadmium Selenide (CdSe) and Barium Titanate (BaTiO3). Numerical results for the reflection and refraction coefficients are obtained, and their behavior versus the incidence angle is analyzed. The interaction with the interface give rises to different kinds of reflected and refracted waves: (i) two reflected elastic waves in the first medium, one longitudinal (qP-wave) and the other transversal (qSV-wave), and a similar situation for the refracted waves in the second medium; (ii) two reflected potential electric waves and a similar situation for the refracted waves; (iii) two reflected thermal waves and a similar situation for the refracted waves. The amplitudes of the reflected and refracted waves are functions of the incident angle, of the thermal relaxation times and of the media elastic, electric, thermal constants. This study is relevant to signal processing, sound systems, wireless communications, surface acoustic wave devices and military defense equipment.  相似文献

Shear wave propagation causes microvibrations within a medium; measuring the wave attenuation coefficient, α, and phase velocity, c s , the medium shear modulus, μ, and shear viscosity, η, are determined based on a viscoelastic model that includes both c s and α. The present work compares the performances of nine processing methods, based on cross-correlation and quadrature demodulation, used to extract the motion waveform from a sequence of radio-frequency (RF) echo signals from the medium. Kalman filtering determined the amplitude and the phase of the extracted motion waveform. The comparisons were done with regard to computational simulation and experiments with a gel phantom. Estimates obtained for μ and η of the medium considered different conditions for the vibration amplitude and the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the RF echo signals and the waveform extracted by means of single frequency and shear wave dispersion ultrasound vibration (SDUV) methods. According to the simulated results, the cross-correlation-based processing techniques are more precise and accurate in comparison to quadrature demodulation techniques. The results for c s , α, μ and η of the phantom and those obtained under the same setup conditions for experimental and computational tests agree with each other. Comparing the estimates based on single frequency and SDUV techniques, they presented similar performances at high SNR of the RF echo signal. On the other hand, the former technique prevailed for low SNR.  相似文献

The Peach–Koehler expressions for the glide and climb components of the force exerted on a straight dislocation in an infinite isotropic medium by another straight dislocation are derived by evaluating the plane and antiplane strain versions of J integrals around the center of the dislocation. After expressing the elastic fields as the sums of elastic fields of each dislocation, the energy momentum tensor is decomposed into three parts. It is shown that only one part, involving mixed products from the two dislocation fields, makes a nonvanishing contribution to J integrals and the corresponding dislocation forces. Three examples are considered, with dislocations on parallel or intersecting slip planes. For two edge dislocations on orthogonal slip planes, there are two equilibrium configurations in which the glide and climb components of the dislocation force simultaneously vanish. The interactions between two different types of screw dislocations and a nearby circular void, as well as between parallel line forces in an infinite or semi-infinite medium, are then evaluated.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider periodic soft inclusions T ε with periodicity ε, where the solution, u ε , satisfies semi-linear elliptic equations of non-divergence in \({\Omega_{\epsilon}=\Omega\setminus \overline{T}_\epsilon}\) with Neumann data on \({\partial T^{\mathfrak a}}\). The difficulty lies in the non-divergence structure of the operator where the standard energy method, which is based on the divergence theorem, cannot be applied. The main object is to develop a viscosity method to find the homogenized equation satisfied by the limit of u ε , referred to as u, as ε approaches to zero. We introduce the concept of a compatibility condition between the equation and the Neumann condition on the boundary for the existence of uniformly bounded periodic first correctors. The concept of a second corrector is then developed to show that the limit, u, is the viscosity solution of a homogenized equation.  相似文献

The long-time asymptotics is analyzed for all finite energy solutions to a model\(\mathbf{U}(1)\)-invariant nonlinear Klein–Gordon equation in one dimension, with the nonlinearity concentrated at a single point: each finite energy solution converges as t→ ± ∞ to the set of all “nonlinear eigenfunctions” of the form ψ(x)e?iω t. The global attraction is caused by the nonlinear energy transfer from lower harmonics to the continuous spectrum and subsequent dispersive radiation. We justify this mechanism by the following novel strategy based on inflation of spectrum by the nonlinearity. We show that any omega-limit trajectory has the time spectrum in the spectral gap [ ? m,m] and satisfies the original equation. This equation implies the key spectral inclusion for spectrum of the nonlinear term. Then the application of the Titchmarsh convolution theorem reduces the spectrum of each omega-limit trajectory to a single harmonic \(\omega\in[-m,m]\).The research is inspired by Bohr’s postulate on quantum transitions and Schrödinger’s identification of the quantum stationary states to the nonlinear eigenfunctions of the coupled\(\mathbf{U}(1)\)-invariant Maxwell–Schrödinger and Maxwell–Dirac equations.  相似文献

The goal of this study is to present a first step towards establishing criteria aimed at assessing whether a particular adverse-pressure-gradient (APG) turbulent boundary layer (TBL) can be considered well-behaved, i.e., whether it is independent of the inflow conditions and is exempt of numerical or experimental artifacts. To this end, we analyzed several high-quality datasets, including in-house numerical databases of APG TBLs developing over flat-plates and the suction side of a wing section, and five studies available in the literature. Due to the impact of the flow history on the particular state of the boundary layer, we developed three criteria of convergence to well-behaved conditions, to be used depending on the particular case under study. (i) In the first criterion, we develop empirical correlations defining the R e ?? -evolution of the skin-friction coefficient and the shape factor in APG TBLs with constant values of the Clauser pressure-gradient parameter β = 1 and 2 (note that β = δ ?/τ w dP e /dx, where δ ? is the displacement thickness, τ w the wall-shear stress and dP e /dx the streamwise pressure gradient). (ii) In the second one, we propose a predictive method to obtain the skin-friction curve corresponding to an APG TBL subjected to any streamwise evolution of β, based only on data from zero-pressure-gradient TBLs. (iii) The third method relies on the diagnostic-plot concept modified with the shape factor, which scales APG TBLs subjected to a wide range of pressure-gradient conditions. These three criteria allow to ensure the correct flow development of a particular TBL, and thus to separate history and pressure-gradient effects in the analysis.  相似文献

The head on quenching of statistically planar turbulent premixed flames by an isothermal inert wall has been analysed using three-dimensional Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) data for different values of global Lewis number Le(0.8, 1.0 and 1.2) and turbulent Reynolds number Ret. The statistics of head on quenching have been analysed in terms of the wall Peclet number Pe (i.e. distance of the flame from the wall normalised by the Zel’dovich flame thickness) and the normalised wall heat flux Φ. It has been found that the maximum (minimum) value of Φ(Pe) for the turbulent Le=0.8 cases are greater (smaller) than the corresponding laminar value, whereas both Pe and Φ in turbulent cases remain comparable to the corresponding laminar values for Le=1.0 and 1.2. Detailed physical explanations are provided for the observed Le dependences of Pe and Φ. The existing closure of mean reaction rate \(\overline {\dot {\omega }}\) using the scalar dissipation rate (SDR) in the near wall region has been assessed based on a-priori analysis of DNS data and modifications to the existing closures of mean reaction rate and SDR have been suggested to account for the wall effects in such a manner that the modified closures perform well both near to and away from the wall.  相似文献

The y-nonlocal Davey–Stewartson II equation is an extension of the usual DS II equation involving a partially parity-time-symmetric potential only with respect to the spatial variable y. By using the Hirota bilinear method, families of n-order rational solutions are obtained, which include lumps in the (xy)-plane and the (yt)-plane, growing-and-decaying line waves in the (xt)-plane, and hybrid solutions of interacting line rogue waves and lumps in the (xy)-plane.  相似文献

An Eulerian formulation has been developed for the constitutive response of a group of materials that includes anisotropic elastic and viscoelastic solids and viscous fluids. The material is considered to be a composite of an elastic solid and a viscous fluid. Evolution equations are proposed for a triad of vectors m i that represent the stretches and orientations of material line elements in the solid component. Evolution equations for an orthonormal triad of vectors s i are also proposed to characterize anisotropy of the fluid component. In particular, for an elastic solid it is shown that the material response is totally characterized by the functional form of the strain energy and by the current values of m i , which are measurable in the current state of the material. Moreover, it is shown that the proposed Eulerian formulation removes unphysical arbitrariness of the choice of the reference configuration in the standard formulation of constitutive equations for anisotropic elastic solids.  相似文献

In view of its high precision and high efficiency, three-dimensional digital image correlation (3D-DIC) is widely used to accurately measure full-field deformation. A spatiotemporal experimental study using 3D-DIC to explore the Portevin–Le Chatelier (PLC) deformational behavior, provides a new insight into the whole 3D deformation field, including the out-of-plane displacement, and in particular the relationship between the serrations and the strain field in the deformation bands corresponding to individual serrations. Specimens 1, 2 and 3 mm thick of 5456 Al-based alloy were tested in uniaxial tension at room temperature at strain rates from 1.8 × 10?4 to 9.1 × 10?3s?1. The spatial and temporal characteristics of the strain localization were quantitatively analyzed. The out-of-plane displacement increment field (w) of the localized bands was observed by 3D-DIC, and found to be related to the specimen thickness and the in-plane strain increment. The largest displacement increments were respectively 15, 10 and 5 μm for 3, 2 and 1 mm specimens at maximum strain increment of about 12000 με. The elastic shrinkage outside the deformation bands was found to be an essential characteristic of the PLC effect. The width of the PLC band (wband) increased with increasing thickness; the angle of the PLC band (??band) was not affected by either specimen thickness or serration amplitude. Temporally, the serrations in the plots both of in-plane strain and out-of-plane displacement vs. time coincided throughout the entire loading procedure. When PLC banding occurred, the serration amplitude within the bands was found to be proportional to the maximum strain increment in the direction of the applied tensile force (??max).  相似文献

We focus here on the analysis of the regularity or singularity of solutions Ω 0 to shape optimization problems among convex planar sets, namely:
$J(\Omega_{0})={\rm min} \{J(\Omega), \Omega \quad {\rm convex},\Omega \in \mathcal{S}_{\rm ad}\},$
where \({\mathcal{S}_{\rm ad}}\) is a set of 2-dimensional admissible shapes and \({J:\mathcal{S}_{\rm ad}\rightarrow\mathbb{R}}\) is a shape functional. Our main goal is to obtain qualitative properties of these optimal shapes by using first and second order optimality conditions, including the infinite dimensional Lagrange multiplier due to the convexity constraint. We prove two types of results:
  1. i)
    under a suitable convexity property of the functional J, we prove that Ω 0 is a W 2,p -set, \({p\in[1, \infty]}\). This result applies, for instance, with p = ∞ when the shape functional can be written as J(Ω) = R(Ω) + P(Ω), where R(Ω) = F(|Ω|, E f (Ω), λ1(Ω)) involves the area |Ω|, the Dirichlet energy E f (Ω) or the first eigenvalue of the Laplace–Dirichlet operator λ1(Ω), and P(Ω) is the perimeter of Ω;

  1. ii)
under a suitable concavity assumption on the functional J, we prove that Ω 0 is a polygon. This result applies, for instance, when the functional is now written as J(Ω) = R(Ω) ? P(Ω), with the same notations as above.

In the present paper, we use the conformal mapping z/c = ζ?2a sin ζ (a, c?const, ζ = u + iv) of the strip {|v| ≤ v 0, |u| < ∞} onto the domain D, which is a strip with symmetric periodic cuts. For the domain D, in the orthogonal system of isometric coordinates u, v, we solve the plane elasticity problem. We seek the biharmonic function in the form F = C ψ 0 + S ψ*0 + x(C ψ 1 ? S ψ 2) + y(C ψ 2 + S ψ 1), where C(v) and S(v) are the operator functions described in [1] and ψ 0(u), …, ψ 2(u) are the desired functions. The boundary conditions for the function F posed for v = ±v 0 are equivalent to two operator equations for ψ 1(u) and ψ 2(u) and to two ordinary differential equations of first order for ψ 0(u) and ψ*0(u) [2]. By finding the functions ψ j (u) in the form of trigonometric series with indeterminate coefficients and by solving the operator equations, we obtain infinite systems of linear equations for the unknown coefficients. We present an efficient method for solving these systems, which is based on studying stable recursive relations. In the present paper, we give an example of analysis of a specific strip (a = 1/4, v 0 = 1) loaded on the boundary v = v 0 by a normal load of intensity p. We find the particular solutions corresponding to the extension of the strip by the longitudinal force X and to the transverse and pure bending of the strip due to the transverse force Y and the constant moment M , respectively. We also present the graphs of normal and tangential stresses in the transverse cross-section x = 0 and study the stress concentration effect near the cut bottom.  相似文献

Impact of wall slip on the yield stress measurement is examined for capillary suspensions consisting of cocoa powder as the dispersed phase, vegetable oil as the continuous primary fluid, and water as the secondary fluid using smooth and serrated parallel plates. Using dynamic oscillatory measurements, we investigated the yielding behavior of this ternary solid-fluid-fluid system with varying particle volume fraction, ?, from 0.45 to 0.65 and varying water volume fraction, ?w, from 0.02 to 0.08. Yield stress is defined as the maximum in the elastic stress (Gγ), which is obtained by plotting the product of elastic modulus (G) and strain amplitude (γ) as a function of applied strain amplitude. With serrated plates, which offer minimal slippage, capillary suspensions with ? ≥?0.45 and a fixed ?w =?0.06 showed a two-step yielding behavior as indicated by two peaks in the plots of elastic stress as a function of strain amplitude. On the other hand with smooth plates, the capillary suspensions showed strong evidence of wall slip as evident by the presence of three distinct peaks and lowered first yield stresses for all ? and ?w. These results can be interpreted based on the fact that a particle-depleted layer, which is known to be responsible for slip, is present in the vicinity of the smooth surfaces. The slip layer presents itself as an additional “pseudo-microstructure” (characteristic length scale) besides the two microstructures, aqueous bridges and solid particle agglomerates, that may occur in the system. With serrated plates, both the yield stresses (σ1σ2) and storage moduli plateau at lower strain (before the first yield point) and at higher strain (before the second yield point) (G\(^{\prime }_{p1}\), G\(^{\prime }_{p2}\)) were found to increase with ? (at a fixed ?w =?0.06) following power-law dependences. Similarly with increasing ?w (0.02 – 0.08) at a fixed ? =?0.62, the system behaved as a solid-like material in a jammed state with particles strongly held together as manifested by rapidly increasing σ1 and σ2. The usage of smooth surfaces primarily affected σ1 which was reflected by an approximately 70–90% decrement in the measured σ1 for all values of ?. By contrast, σ2 and G\(^{\prime }_{p2}\) were found to be unaffected as shown by close agreement of values obtained using serrated geometry due to vanishing slip layers at higher strain amplitudes.  相似文献

The n-fold Darboux transformation \(T_{n}\) of the focusing real modified Korteweg–de Vries (mKdV) equation is expressed in terms of the determinant representation. Using this representation, the n-soliton solutions of the mKdV equation are also expressed by determinants whose elements consist of the eigenvalues \(\lambda _{j}\) and the corresponding eigenfunctions of the associated Lax equation. The nonsingular n-positon solutions of the focusing mKdV equation are obtained in the special limit \(\lambda _{j}\rightarrow \lambda _{1}\), from the corresponding n-soliton solutions and by using the associated higher-order Taylor expansion. Furthermore, the decomposition method of the n-positon solution into n single-soliton solutions, the trajectories, and the corresponding “phase shifts” of the multi-positons are also investigated.  相似文献

The influences of fuel Lewis number LeF on localised forced ignition of globally stoichiometric stratified mixtures have been analysed using three-dimensional compressible Direct Numerical Simulations (DNS) for cases with LeF ranging from 0.8 to 1.2. The globally stoichiometric stratified mixtures with different values of root-mean-square (rms) equivalence ratio fluctuation (i.e. ?= 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6) and the Taylor micro-scale l? of equivalence ratio ? variation (i.e. l?/lf= 2.1, 5.5 and 8.3 with lf being the Zel’dovich flame thickness of the stoichiometric laminar premixed flame) have been considered for different initial rms values of turbulent velocity u. A pseudo-spectral method is used to initialise the equivalence ratio variation following a presumed bi-modal distribution for prescribed values of ? and l?/lf for global mean equivalence ratio 〈?〉=1.0. The localised ignition is accounted for by a source term in the energy transport equation that deposits energy for a stipulated time interval. It has been observed that the maximum values of temperature and the fuel reaction rate magnitude increase with decreasing LeF during the period of external energy deposition. The initial values of LeF, u/Sb(?=1), ? and l?/lf have been found to have significant effects on the extent of burning of the stratified mixtures following localised ignition. For a given value of u/Sb(?=1), the extent of burning decreases with increasing LeF. An increase in u leads to a monotonic reduction in the burned gas mass for all values of LeF in all stratified mixture cases but an opposite trend is observed for the LeF=0.8 homogeneous mixture. It has been found that an increase in ? has adverse effects on the burned gas mass, whereas the effects of l?/lf on the extent of burning are non-monotonic and dependent on ? and LeF. Detailed physical explanations have been provided for the observed LeF, u/Sb(?=1), ? and l?/lf dependences.  相似文献
