In this paperwe study the set of homogeneous geodesics of a left-invariant Finsler metric on Lie groups. We first give a simple criterion that characterizes geodesic vectors. We extend J. Szenthe’s result on homogeneous geodesics to left-invariant Finsler metrics. This result gives a relation between geodesic vectors and restricted Minkowski norm in Finsler setting. We show that if a compact connected and semisimple Lie group has rank greater than 1, then for every left-invariant Finsler metric there are infinitely many homogeneous geodesics through the identity element.  相似文献

We study the spaces of left-invariant Riemannian metrics on a Lie group up to isometry, and up to isometry and scaling. In this paper, we see that such spaces can be identified with the orbit spaces of certain isometric actions on noncompact symmetric spaces. We also study some Lie groups whose spaces of left-invariant metrics up to isometry and scaling are small.  相似文献

We study the geometry of 2-step nilpotent Lie groups endowed with left-invariant Lorentz metrics. After integrating explicitly the geodesic equations, we discuss the problem of the existence of translated geodesics in those groups. A good part of the paper focuses on the existence of closed timelike geodesics in compact Lorentz 2-step nilmanifolds. Other related results, corollaries, and examples are also presented.  相似文献

We obtain two versions of ODEs for the control function of normal geodesics for left-invariant sub-Riemannian metrics on Lie groups, involving only the structure of the Lie algebras of these groups. The first version is applicable to all Lie groups, while the second, to all matrix Lie groups; both versions are different invariant forms of the Hamiltonian system of the Pontryagin maximum principle for a left-invariant time-optimal problem on a Lie group. Basing on the first version, we find sufficient conditions for the normality of all geodesics of a given sub-Finslerian metric on a Lie group; in particular, we show that all three-dimensional Lie groups possess this property. The proofs use simple techniques of linear algebra.  相似文献

In contrast to the Euler–Poincaré reduction of geodesic flows of left- or right-invariant metrics on Lie groups to the corresponding Lie algebra (or its dual), one can consider the reduction of the geodesic flows to the group itself. The reduced vector field has a remarkable hydrodynamic interpretation: it is the velocity field for a stationary flow of an ideal fluid. Right- or left-invariant symmetry fields of the reduced field define vortex manifolds for such flows. Now we consider a mechanical system, whose configuration space is a Lie group and whose Lagrangian is invariant with respect to left translations on this group, and assume that the mass geometry f the system may change under the action of internal control forces. Such a system can also be reduced to a Lie group. Without controls, this mechanical system describes a geodesic flow of the left-invariant metric, given by the Lagrangian, and, therefore, its reduced flow is a stationary ideal fluid flow on the Lie group. The standard control problem for such system is to find the conditions under which the system can be brought from any initial position in the configuration space to another preassigned position by changing its mass geometry. We show that under these conditions, by changing the mass geometry, one can also bring one vortex manifold to any other preassigned vortex manifold. In this article, we prove that compact simple Lie groups SO(n) (n>12) admit at least two left-invariant Einstein metrics that are not geodesic orbit, which gives a positive answer to a problem recently posed by Nikonorov.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the invariant metrizability and projective metrizability problems for the special case of the geodesic spray associated to the canonical connection of a Lie group. We prove that such canonical spray is projectively Finsler metrizable if and only if it is Riemann metrizable. This result means that this structure is rigid in the sense that considering left invariant metrics, the potentially much larger class of projective Finsler metrizable canonical sprays, corresponding to Lie groups, coincides with the class of Riemann metrizable canonical sprays. Generalisation of these results for geodesic orbit spaces are given.

We call a metric m-quasi-Einstein if \({Ric_X^m}\) (a modification of the m-Bakry–Emery Ricci tensor in terms of a suitable vector field X) is a constant multiple of the metric tensor. It is a generalization of Einstein metrics which contain Ricci solitons. In this paper, we focus on left-invariant vector fields and left-invariant Riemannian metrics on quadratic Lie groups. First we prove that any left-invariant vector field X such that the left-invariant Riemannian metric on a quadratic Lie group is m-quasi-Einstein is a Killing vector field. Then we construct infinitely many non-trivial m-quasi-Einstein metrics on solvable quadratic Lie groups G(n) for m finite.  相似文献

We investigate the algebraic structure of complex Lie groups equipped with left-invariant metrics which are expanding semi-algebraic solitons to the Hermitian curvature flow (HCF). We show that the Lie algebras of such Lie groups decompose in the semidirect product of a reductive Lie subalgebra with their nilradicals. Furthermore, we give a structural result concerning expanding semi-algebraic solitons on complex Lie groups. It turns out that the restriction of the soliton metric to the nilradical is also an expanding algebraic soliton and we explain how to construct expanding solitons on complex Lie groups starting from expanding solitons on their nilradicals.  相似文献

We characterize the left-invariant Riemannian metrics on each of the six unimodular simply connected 3-dimensional Lie groups which give rise to 3-, 4-, or 6-dimensional isometry groups. It turns out that this classification is independent of curvature properties.  相似文献

We study the positive Hermitian curvature flow on the space of left-invariant metrics on complex Lie groups. We show that in the nilpotent case, the flow exists for all positive times and subconverges in the Cheeger–Gromov sense to a soliton. We also show convergence to a soliton when the complex Lie group is almost abelian. That is, when its Lie algebra admits a (complex) co-dimension one abelian ideal. Finally, we study solitons in the almost-abelian setting. We prove uniqueness and completely classify all left-invariant, almost-abelian solitons, giving a method to construct examples in arbitrary dimensions, many of which admit co-compact lattices.

A nilpotent Lie algebra is called an Einstein nilradical if the corresponding Lie group admits a left-invariant Ricci soliton metric. While these metrics are of independent interest, their existence is intimately related to the existence of Einstein metrics on solvable Lie groups. In this note we are concerned with the following question: How are the Einstein and non-Einstein nilradicals distributed among nilpotent Lie algebras? A full answer to this question is not known and we restrict to the class of 2-step nilpotent Lie groups. Within this class, it is known that a generic group admits a Ricci soliton metric. Using techniques from Geometric Invariant Theory, we study the set of non-generic algebras to learn more about the distribution of non-Einstein nilradicals. Many new (continuous) families of non-isomorphic, non-Einstein nilradicals are constructed. Moreover, the dimension of these families can be arbitrarily large (depending on the dimension of the underlying Lie group). To show such large classes of Lie groups are pairwise non-isomorphic, a new technique is developed to distinguish between Lie algebras.  相似文献

We study cohomogeneity one Riemannian manifolds and we establish some simple criterium to test when a singular orbit is totally geodesic. As an application, we classify compact, positively curved Riemannian manifolds which are acted on isometrically by a non-semisimple Lie group with an hypersurface orbit.  相似文献

The article presents an information about the Laplace operator defined on the real-valued mappings of compact Riemannian manifolds, and its spectrum; some properties of the latter are studied. The relationship between the spectra of two Riemannian manifolds connected by a Riemannian submersion with totally geodesic fibers is established. We specify a method of calculating the spectrum of the Laplacian for simply connected simple compact Lie groups with biinvariant Riemannian metrics, by representations of their Lie algebras. As an illustration, the spectrum of the Laplacian on the group SU(2) is found.  相似文献

We study balanced Hermitian structures on almost abelian Lie algebras, i.e. on Lie algebras with a codimension-one abelian ideal. In particular, we classify six-dimensional almost abelian Lie algebras which carry a balanced structure. It has been conjectured in [1] that a compact complex manifold admitting both a balanced metric and an SKT metric necessarily has a Kähler metric: we prove this conjecture for compact almost abelian solvmanifolds with left-invariant complex structures. Moreover, we investigate the behaviour of the flow of balanced metrics introduced in [2] and of the anomaly flow [3] on almost abelian Lie groups. In particular, we show that the anomaly flow preserves the balanced condition and that locally conformally Kähler metrics are fixed points.  相似文献
