A simple gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) method has been developed for the characterization of frankincense in archaeological samples. After trimethylsilylation of the methanolic extract, 15 triterpenoids have been found among the chemical constituents of commercial olibanum (alpha-boswellic acid, 3-O-acetyl-alpha-boswellic acid, beta-boswellic acid, 3-O-acetyl-beta-boswellic acid, alpha-amyrin, beta-amyrin, lupeol, 3-epi-beta-amyrin, 3-epi-beta-amyrin, 3-epi-lupeol, alpha-amyrenone, beta-amyrenone, lupenone, 3alpha-hydroxy-lup-20(29)-en-24-oic acid and 3-O-acetyl-hydroxy-lup-20(29)-en-24-oic acid). These compounds have been unequivocally identified by retention time and mass spectral comparison with pure standards previously isolated, for the most part, in our laboratory. Within these triterpenes, acid ones, the corresponding O-acetates, and their products of degradation were found to be characteristic of frankincense (Boswellia resin). The presence of these unusual triterpenic compounds in an archaeological resinous sample, recovered during excavations from Dahshour site (Egypt, XIIth Dynasty), enabled us to identify unambiguously frankincense resin among several other materials. Additional chromatographic peaks of this sample were assigned to broad chemical classes using retention time and mass spectra features.  相似文献

The aim of this study was the optimization of headspace SPME conditions for trapping diterpenes present in frankincense (olibanum). Diterpenes like cembrenes or incensole and its derivatives are characteristic of olibanum. So in order to detect by SPME the occurrence of olibanum in archeological objects, it appears essential to have the best extraction conditions for these diterpenes that will be in very small quantities. Both sampling time and extraction temperature were studied and five fiber coatings were tested: polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), polydimethylsiloxane/divinylbenzene (PDMS/DVB), carboxen/polydimethylsiloxane (CAR/PDMS), divinylbenzene/carboxen/polydimethylsiloxane (DVB/CAR/PDMS) and carbowax/divinylbenzene (CW/DVB). The PDMS/DVB fiber was found to be the most efficient for trapping olibanum characteristic diterpenes, with a sampling time of 1 h and a sampling temperature of 80 degrees C.  相似文献

4-Hydroxy-6-methyl-2H-pyrano[3,2-c]quinoline-2,5(6H)-dione was prepared by microwave-assisted cyclocondensation of N-methylaniline with 2 equiv of diethyl malonate. Key to the success of the synthesis was the use of open vessel controlled microwave heating technology, allowing the simultaneous removal of the formed ethanol from the reaction mixture by fractional distillation.  相似文献

Conversion of nonfood natural products to value-added products is an important work, which is going on worldwide. In addition, to obtain a product with better quality, a sufficient separation method is helpful to improve its utilization value by using effective, rapid and environmentally friendly techniques. Thus in this work, the microwave-assisted hydrodistillation (MAHD) process of essential oils from important natural plant Rumex Crispus leaves was investigated. The experimental design and extraction conditions were optimized using a definitive screening design. The yield of essential oils of 4.67 ± 0.02 % was investigated under the optimum conditions; 534.89 W of microwave power, 23.48 min of hydrodistillation time and 4.5 mL/g of the volume of water to plant mass ratio. Under these conditions, the essential oils were analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC–MS). Results revealed that the essential oil extracted by MAHD possessed high quality as proved by its higher percentage of oxygenated compounds. In addition, α-santol (29.63 %) and β-santol (25.60 %) are the primary components of oxygenated compounds in essential oils. In conclusion, the MAHD was successfully employed to obtain mainly Oxygenated compounds-rich essential oil that may be used in several industrial applications. Subsequently, a definitive screening design may be regarded as an alternative and reliable method for the prediction of experimental parameters. It was concluded that the weeds plant (Rumex Crispus) contains a reliable quantity of oils that is extremely feasible to use and recommended as good feedstock for possible use in industrial applications.  相似文献

Ionic liquid-based microwave-assisted extraction (ILMAE) has been successfully applied in extracting essential oil and four kinds of biphenyl cyclooctene lignans from Schisandra chinensis Baill. 0.25 M 1-lauryl-3-methylimidazolium bromide ionic liquid is selected as solvent. The optimum parameters of dealing with 25.0 g sample are 385 W irradiation power, 40 min microwave extraction time and 1:12 solid-liquid ratio. The yields of essential oil and lignans are 12.12±0.37 ml/kg and 250.2±38.2 mg/kg under the optimum conditions. The composition of the essential oil extracted by hydro-distillation, steam-distillation and ILMAE is analyzed by GC-MS. With ILMAE method, the energy consumption time has not only been shortened to 40 min (hydro-distillation 3.0 h for extracting essential oil and reflux extraction 4.0 h for extracting lignans, respectively), but also the extraction efficiency has been improved (extraction of lignans and distillation of essential oil at the same time) and reduces the environmental pollution. S. chinensis materials treated by different methods are observed by scanning electronic microscopy. Micrographs provide more evidence to prove that ILMAE is a better and faster method. The experimental results also indicate that ILMAE is a simple and efficient technique for sample preparation.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to use headspace solid phase microextraction (SPME) to reveal the presence of resin in archaeological samples, such as mummification balms, from ancient Egypt. Experiments were first performed with fresh resins of known origin. The SPME fibre readily extracted mono- and sesquiterpenes and, to a lesser extent, diterpenes. Using mass spectra and retention indices of constitutive compounds, qualitative analysis of the volatile fraction allowed us to differentiate resins or gum-resins such as myrrh, olibanum, galbanum, labdanum, mastic, and conifer resins. SPME was then successfully applied to archaeological samples from ancient Egypt in which the presence of resins was detected. Volatile components were desorbed and trapped according to the same SPME procedure as was applied to fresh resins, after a sample preparation consisting of a fine grinding.  相似文献

The distillation (or boiling) curve of a complex fluid is a critically important indicator of the bulk behavior or response of the fluid. For this reason, the distillation curve, usually presented graphically as boiling temperature against volume fraction distilled, is often cited as a primary design and testing criterion for liquid fuels, lubricants and other important industrial fluids. Clearly, the boiling temperatures that is measured near ambient conditions during the course of a distillation curve determination depend upon the local atmospheric pressure. For this reason, the user community is accustomed to data presented with an adjustment of the temperatures to those that would be observed at a standard atmospheric pressure of 101.325 kPa, or standard atmospheric pressure of 1 atm. Typically, this is done with a simplified Sydney Young equation. This correction makes little difference to measurements done consistently in a particular laboratory, or when the atmospheric pressure varies little. The correction can be quite large when measurements are done in laboratories at different elevations, however. In this paper, we describe an evaluation of this correction. Specifically, we performed measurements of the distillation curve of a binary mixture of (n-decane + n-tetradecane) at three elevations (and, therefore three different values of atmospheric pressures, (70.06, 82.73, and 101.00) kPa). Comparisons are made between the raw and adjusted values, and recommendations are presented as to when the equation might be inadequate.  相似文献

<正>Monodisperse hollow polymer microspheres having various functional groups on the shell-layer,such as carboxylic acid, pyridyl and amide, were prepared by two-stage distillation precipitation polymerization in neat acetonitrile in the absence of any stabilizer or additive, during which monodisperse poly(methacrylic acid)(PMAA) afforded from the first-stage polymerization was utilized as the seeds for the second-stage polymerization. The shell layer with different functional groups was formed during the second-stage copolymerization of either divinylbenzene(DVB) or ethyleneglycol dimethacrylate(EGDMA) as crosslinker and the functional comonomers,in which the hydrogen-bonding interaction between the carboxylic acid group of PMAA core and the functional groups of the corresponding comonomers, including carboxylic acid, amide and pyridyl, played an essential role for the formation of monodisperse core-shell functional microspheres. The hollow polymer microspheres were then developed after the subsequent removal of PMAA cores by dissolution in ethanol under basic condition.Transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to determine the morphology of the resultant PMAA core, functional core-shell microspheres and the corresponding hollow polymer microspheres with different functional groups.FT-IR spectra confirmed the successful incorporation of the various functional groups on the shell layer of the hollow polymer microspheres.  相似文献

A new process design and operation for microwave accelerated steam distillation (MASD) of essential oils was developed. A packed bed of lavender flowers (Lavandula angustifolia Mill., Lamiaceae) sits above the steam source generated by microwave heating. Only steam passes through it without the boiling water mixing with vegetable raw material, as is the case in hydro-distillation. MASD has been compared with a conventional technique, steam distillation (SD), for the extraction of essential oil from lavender flowers. Extraction of essential oils from lavender with MASD was better than SD in terms of energy saving, rapidity (10 min versus 90 min), product yield, cleanliness and product quality.  相似文献

An ionic liquid based microwave-assisted simultaneous extraction and distillation (ILMSED) method has been developed for the effective extraction of carnosic acid (CA), rosmarinic acid (RA) and essential oil (EO) from Rosmarinus officinalis. A series of 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium ionic liquids differing in composition of anion and cation were evaluated for extraction yield in this work. The results obtained indicated that the anions and cations of ionic liquids had influences on the extraction of CA and RA, 1.0M 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide ([C8mim]Br) solution was selected as solvent. In addition, the ILMSED procedures for the three target ingredients were optimized and compared with other conventional extraction techniques. ILMSED gave the best result due to the highest extraction yield within the shortest extraction time for CA and RA. The novel process developed offered advantages in term of yield and selectivity of EO and shorter isolation time (20 min in comparison of 4h of hydrodistillation), and provides a more valuable EO (with high amount of oxygenated compounds). The microstructures and chemical structures of rosemary samples before and after extraction were also investigated. Moreover, the proposed method was validated by the stability, repeatability and recovery experiments. The results indicated that the developed ILMSED method provided a good alternative for the both extraction of non-volatile compounds (CA and RA) and EO from rosemary as well as other herbs.  相似文献

The analysis of complex fluids such as crude oils, fuels, vegetable oils and mixed waste streams poses significant challenges arising primarily from the multiplicity of components, the different properties of the components (polarity, polarizability, etc.) and matrix properties. We have recently introduced an analytical strategy that simplifies many of these analyses, and provides the added potential of linking compositional information with physical property information. This aspect can be used to facilitate equation of state development for the complex fluids. In addition to chemical characterization, the approach provides the ability to calculate thermodynamic properties for such complex heterogeneous streams. The technique is based on the advanced distillation curve (ADC) metrology, which separates a complex fluid by distillation into fractions that are sampled, and for which thermodynamically consistent temperatures are measured at atmospheric pressure. The collected sample fractions can be analyzed by any method that is appropriate. The analytical methods we have applied include gas chromatography (with flame ionization, mass spectrometric and sulfur chemiluminescence detection), thin layer chromatography, FTIR, corrosivity analysis, neutron activation analysis and cold neutron prompt gamma activation analysis. By far, the most widely used analytical technique we have used with the ADC is gas chromatography. This has enabled us to study finished fuels (gasoline, diesel fuels, aviation fuels, rocket propellants), crude oils (including a crude oil made from swine manure) and waste oils streams (used automotive and transformer oils). In this special issue of the Journal of Chromatography, specifically dedicated to extraction technologies, we describe the essential features of the advanced distillation curve metrology as an analytical strategy for complex fluids.  相似文献

Fourteen wild strains of Staphylococcus aureus positive for gene sea were tested for enterotoxins production and the minimum inhibitory concentration of Leptospermum scoparium, Origanum majorana, Origanum vulgare, Satureja montana and Thymus vulgaris essential oils (EOs) were determined. After this trial, bacteria stressed with sub-inhibitory concentration of each EO were tested for enterotoxins production by an immunoenzymatic assay and resistance to the same EO. Oregano oil exhibited the highest antibacterial activity followed by manuka and thyme oils. After the exposure to a sub-inhibitory concentration of EOs, strains displayed an increased sensitivity in more than 95% of the cases. After treatment with oregano and marjoram EOs, few strains showed a modified enterotoxins production, while 43% of the strains were no longer able to produce enterotoxins after treatment with manuka EO. The results obtained in this study highlight that exposure to sub-inhibitory concentration of EO modifies strains enterotoxins production and EOs susceptibility profile.  相似文献

Erythromycin‐imprinted polymers with excellent recognition properties were prepared by an innovative strategy called distillation–precipitation polymerization. The interaction between erythromycin and methacrylic acid was studied by ultraviolet absorption spectroscopy, and the as‐prepared materials were characterized by Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Moreover, their binding performances were evaluated in detail by static, kinetic and selective sorption tests. It was found that the molecularly imprinted polymers afforded good morphology, monodispersity, and high adsorption capacity when the fraction of the monomers was 7 vol% in the whole reaction system, and the adsorption data for imprinted polymers correlated well with the Langmuir model. The maximum capacity of the imprinted and the non‐imprinted polymers for adsorbing erythromycin is 44.03 and 19.95 mg/g, respectively. The kinetic studies revealed that the adsorption process fitted a pseudo‐second‐order kinetic model. Furthermore, the imprinted polymers display higher affinity toward erythromycin, compared with its analogue roxithromycin.  相似文献

A simple and fast microwave-assisted-extraction (MAE) method has been evaluated as an alternative to solid-phase extraction (SPE) for the determination of six benzodiazepines widely prescribed in European countries (alprazolam, bromazepam, diazepam, lorazepam, lormetazepam and tetrazepam) in human plasma. For MAE optimization a Doehlert experimental design was used with extraction time, temperature and solvent volume as influential parameters. A desirability function was employed in addition to the simultaneous optimization of the MAE conditions. The analysis of variance showed that the solvent volume had a positive influence on the extraction of all the analytes tested, achieving a statistically significant effect. Also, the extraction time had a statistically significant effect on the extraction of four benzodiazepines. The selected MAE conditions—89 °C, 13 min and 8 mL of chloroform/2-propanol (4:1, v/v)—led to recoveries between 89.8 ± 0.3 and 102.1 ± 5.2% for benzodiazepines using a high performance liquid chromatography method coupled with diode-array detection. The comparison of MAE and SPE shows better results for MAE, with a lower number of steps in handling the sample and greater efficiency. The applicability of MAE was successfully tested in 27 plasma samples from benzodiazepine users.  相似文献

In the work, for the first time, two solvent-free sample preparation techniques of microwave distillation (MD) and solid-phase microextraction (SPME) were combined, and developed for determination of essential oil compounds in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Using the proposed method, isolation, extraction and concentration of TCM essential oil compounds can be carried out in a single step. To demonstrate its feasibility, MD-SPME was compared with a conventional technique, steam distillation (SD), for gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis of essential oil compounds in a TCM, Artemisia Selengensis Turcz. Forty-nine compounds in the TCM were separated and identified by the present method, while only 26 compounds were detected by SD method. Relative standard deviation (R.S.D.) values less than 9% show that the present method has good precision. The SD method required long time (6 h) to isolate of the essential oil, and large amount of organic solvent for further extraction, while MD-SPME needed little time (only 3 min) to prepare sample, and no organic solvent. These results show that MD-SPME-GC-MS is a simple, rapid and solvent-free method for determination of TCM essential oil.  相似文献

Summary It has been shown that joined segments of straight lines are observed upon plotting the logarithm of the rate constant against the reciprocal temperature, exhibiting sharp breaks at so-called critical temperatures indicating sudden changes in activation energy [3, 5–8]. If the integration of the differential form of theArrhenius equation from 0 toT K is taken into account, the compensation effect can easily be explained.
