We have developed a nonperturbative theory of the energy losses by fast heavy structured ions in their collisions with neutral complex atoms by taking into account all of the possible, including multiple, excitations and ionizations of both projectile and target. We have been able to achieve a significant simplification of the problem by considering multielectron targets and by restricting our analysis to highly charged structured ions with charges much larger than unity, when the characteristic size of the electron coat of the projectile ion is much smaller than that of the neutral target atom. The errors in the approximations used and in the calculations of inelastic cross sections are estimated. We have derived formulas for the effective stopping similar to the well-known Bethe-Bloch formulas. To illustrate the contribution from multielectron excitations of the ion coat to the effective stopping, we make a comparison with the calculations based on the perturbation theory. The energy losses of U q+ (10 ≤ q ≤ 70) ions in their collisions with argon atoms and the energy losses of Pb and Bi ions on several targets have been calculated. A comparison with experiment is made.  相似文献

绝缘材料毛细孔的离子导向效应研究在被动型离子光学元件开发方面有着重要的意义.进行了150keVO3+,0.32 MeVO+,2 MeV O2+等具有不同Ep/q值的离子与氧化铝毛细孔的相互作用研究.对于150keVO3+入射离子,离子沿毛细孔穿越的过程中存在着导向效应:随着毛细孔相对于入射离子束的偏转,入射离子依然能够显著地穿过毛细孔,而且保持电荷态不变;出射离子的角分布谱发生与毛细孔偏转相同的偏移;毛细孔不同偏转角度时的穿透率可以很好地被高斯函数拟合.对于0.32 MeV O+,2 MeV O2+离子入射氧化铝毛细孔,没有导向效应发生.导向效应能够发生的入射离子的Ep/q最大值小于320 kV.  相似文献

Fast neutral atoms and molecules with energies from 0.4 up to 3 keV are scattered under a grazing angle of incidence from a clean and flat MgO(001) surface. For “axial surface channeling” conditions, we observe defined diffraction patterns in the angular intensity distributions for scattered 3He and 4He atoms as well as H2 molecules. The diffraction patterns are analyzed in terms of semiclassical trajectory calculations making use of projectile surface interaction potentials derived from density functional theory and from pair potentials calculated from Hartree–Fock wave functions. From comparison of measured and calculated diffraction patterns we deduced the rumpling of the topmost surface layer of MgO(001), i.e. an inward shift of Mg2+ ions with respect to O2? ions, of (0.03±0.03) Å.  相似文献

Abstract

In the low energy atomic collision of ε ≤ 0.1, the energy dissipation of projectile ion is mainly by the nuclear stopping. In this energy range Z-oscillation appears on ranges and range stragglings. In order to explain this osciallation from the viewpoint of molecular effect on interatomic potentials, an extended Hückel method is adopted for potential calculation. The Z-dependence on interatomic potentials to describe respective atomic collisions is similar to that of Z 1-range oscillation. It suggests a possibility of molecular effect on the Z 1-range oscillation.  相似文献

在兰州重离子加速器国家实验室电子回旋共振离子源高电荷态原子物理实验平台上,用低能(0.75keV/u≤EP/MP≤10.5keV/u,即3.8×105m/s≤vP≤1.42×106m/s)He2+,O2+和Ne2+离子束正入射到自清洁Si表面时二次电子发射产额的实验结果.结果表明电子发射产额γ近似正比于入射离子动能EP/MP.在相同动能下,γ(O)γ(Ne)γ(He),对于原子序数ZP比较大的O2+和Ne2+离子,ZP大者反而γ小,这与较高入射能量时的结果截然不同.通过计算不同入射能量下入射离子的阻止能损S,发现反冲原子对激发二次电子的作用随入射离子能量的降低显著增大,这正是导致在较低能量范围内二次电子发射产额与较高入射能量时存在差异的主要原因.  相似文献

Ion implantation in LiNbO3 and LiTaO3 produces radiation damage by nuclear collisions. The amorphisation of the lattice reduces the refractive index of the material. In the case of fast ion bombardment with helium this damage layer is buried below the surface. The refractive index profile which then exists is suitable for an optical waveguide on the surface which supports several modes. Analysis of the refractive index profile yields the damage distribution in the crystal and this in turn can be compared with theoretical estimates of the damage production and ion ranges.

Our analyses show that in the high energy range from 0.5 to 2.0 MeV the depth of the damage is predominantly controlled by the electronic stopping.  相似文献

The intensity and the energy distribution of Si+n cluster ions emitted from clean silicon have been measured for different target orientations as a function of the primary ion energy (3–30 keV) and the projectile mass (noble gas ion bombardment). The results favour the idea that clusters are emitted as such rather than being produced by vacuum recombination of individually emitted atoms and ions.  相似文献

Hollow-state (double K-shell vacancy) production in Li-like Be+, B2+, C3+, and F6+ ions colliding with He has been investigated using high-resolution Auger-electron spectroscopy. The formation of discrete states and their relative intensities show striking dependences on the nuclear charge Z of the ion. From the projectile velocity dependences of these states the contribution of the electron-electron interaction is determined, showing that the hollow states are formed largely by electron correlation with a strength that diminishes for increasing Z.  相似文献

本文报道了利用兰州重离子加速器国家实验室的ECR离子源引出的高电荷态离子207Pb36 入射到金属Nb表面产生的二次离子的实验测量结果.实验发现,二次离子产额Y随入射初动能Ek的增加有先增加后减小的关系,在初动能为576 keV时二次离子产额达到最大.通过对实验点做高斯拟合发现,曲线峰值对应的入射初动能为602 keV.分析表明,这是势能沉积作用与线性级联碰撞过程协同作用的结果.高电荷态离子本身携带的高势能沉积在靶表面引起势能溅射,促进了二次离子的发射;而主导二次离子溅射的过程是动能溅射,它与靶表面的动量沉积(核能损)过程密切相关.  相似文献

The emission of neutral and charged atoms and clusters from a polycrystalline indium surface under bombardment with 5 and 10 keV Au, Au2, Au3 and Au5 projectiles was investigated. Single photon laser postionization was utilized for the detection of sputtered neutral particles. Secondary ions were detected without the laser under otherwise exactly the same experimental conditions. The relative cluster yields were found to be enhanced under polyatomic projectile bombardment, more so the larger the number of atoms in the sputtered cluster. The ionization probability strongly increases with increasing cluster size, but is essentially independent of the projectile impact energy. At a fixed impact energy, the ionization probability of sputtered monomers was found to decrease with increasing number of constituent gold atoms per projectile, but there was no detectable effect for sputtered dimers and larger clusters.  相似文献

A new ion translational energy spectrometer has been developed to carry out low-energy, gas-phase ion-molecule collision experiments which aim to probe molecular potential energy surfaces. The collisional technique employed relates small changes in the kinetic energy of a projectile ion after it has undergone collision with a static neutral atom/molecule to changes in the overall potential energy of the collision system; information can be furnished about the interaction potential between the projectile and the target. First measurements are reported of a high resolution target excitation spectrum obtained in 1.8 keV collisions of H2 + ions with N2. New results pertaining to collision-induced dissociation of CO2 + ions are presented and discussed in terms of potential functions of low-lying electronic states of the molecular ion.  相似文献

The nonperturbative theory of the energy losses of fast heavy highly charged structure ions colliding with neutral complex atoms is developed with allowance for simultaneous excitations of the electron shells of an ion and an atom. Formulas for effective stopping that are similar to the Bethe-Bloch formulas have been derived. This paper presents a theoretical analysis and simple expressions for the calculation of ranges and standard deviations of implanted ions in amorphous targets. Nuclear energy loss models are discussed to introduce an approximation formula for the nuclear stopping cross section appropriate for Thomas-Fermi, Lenz-Jensen and intermediate type potentials. The Firsov electronic stopping model has been used to show its successful application. Algebraical expressions for the total range of ions in monoatomic and biatomic targets as a function of ion energy result from the considerations presented. A quasi-elastic multiscattering model is suggested, which permits an easy estimate of projected ion ranges. The standard range deviation is obtained by determining the total average-square energy loss fluctuations. Finally a comparison of calculated and experimental results is made to show that calculations based on the Firsov electronic stopping model and the nuclear stopping cross section proposed here provide a better agreement with the experimental results than the wellknown Johnson-Gibbons LSS-calculations.  相似文献

In this study the model suggested by Sugiyama has been developed and applied for the calculation of the stopping powers for nonrelativistic heavy ions in various target materials. Sugiyama's model has been expanded to low and high energy regions in our work. Analytical expressions are obtained in the modified BB stopping power formula for the effective charge and effective mean excitation energies. In the modified LSS formula, a quasi-molecule criterion has been applied to both the projectiles and the target atoms. Electronic excitation contribution, S e0, and quasi-molecule contribution, S ei , to stopping power were found for a wide energy region. It is observed that in intermediate energy region both contributions have maxima. The stopping power due to excitation-ionization in the intermediate and higher energy region is found to be dominant, whereas quasi-molecule contribution is dominant in the lower energy region. The calculated results of stopping power are in good agreement with experimental data for various ions and targets within a few percent in a wide projectile energy range.  相似文献

Time-of-flight mass spectrometry was used to investigate fragmentation and energy transfer processes in water by C ions at the distal part of the Bragg peak. Measurements of the positive ion fragments from ionization, electron capture, electron loss, transfer-loss and loss-ionization channels have allowed us for the first time (a) to obtain a quantitative determination of the energy lost by C ions in water and (b) to show that total water fragment ion production has a much flatter profile with projectile energy than would be expected if the water radical formation was assumed to follow the energy-loss profile obtained from available stopping power models.  相似文献

The energy loss of slow ions during grazing scattering from a LiF(100) surface as a function of the projectile atomic number Z1 is observed to show oscillations similar to those occurring in metals. A model of stopping of ions in an electron gas where screening is calculated from density functional theory reproduces well the experimental data. The same model gives good agreement with the energy loss obtained in transmission experiments performed with H and He projectiles. Analysis of these results allows us to gain new insights in the stopping of slow ions in ionic crystals.  相似文献

Periodic variations in the Z 1 dependence of the interatomic potential has recently bevlen revealed by a channeling technique. To search for oscillations of similar kind in a target of randomly arranged atoms we have made systematic measurements on the scattering distributions of energetic (32–56 keV) ions in amorphous carbon. Our technique was to transmit light mass ions through carbon foils with a thickness of 2–4 μg/cm2. The atomic number of the ions, Z, ranged from 3 to 18. The scattering distribution of the transmitted particles was recorded. From these curves the angular halfwidth,ψ 1/2, and the relative intensity at a scattering angle 2.5 times ψ 1/2 was determined. The experimental values are in good agreement with theoretical calculations based on the Thomas-Fermi and Lenz- Jensen potentials. Furthermore, the saturation value of the mean nuclear stopping cross sections for ions scattered in the straight forward direction with a mean energy of 50 keV are given. No evidence for a Z 1 oscillatory behaviour could be found in any of the three parameters investigated.  相似文献

低速高电荷态离子与金属表面相互作用,原子从靶材表面溅射,其中一部分处于激发态的溅射原子通过辐射退激产生可见光。在这一相互作用过程中,低速高电荷态离子从靶材表面捕获一个或多个电子进入其激发态,这些处于激发态的入射离子也会通过辐射退激产生可见光。研究表明,离子在靶材中的核阻止本领与溅射原子产额密切相关。为了更好地理解溅射原子的激发过程,认识低速高电荷态离子与金属相互作用过程中,溅射原子的激发概率与入射离子动能和势能之间的关联,研究了260~520 keV Krq+ (8≤q≤17)离子与Al靶相互作用过程中的可见光发射。给出了520 keV Kr13+ 与Al表面相互作用过程中,发射300~550 nm波长范围的发射光谱。实验结果包括溅射的Al原子在309.0和395.9 nm处的共振跃迁,Al+和Al2+分别在358.3和451.6 nm处的共振跃迁,以及Kr+在430.0,434.1,465.8和486.0 nm处的共振跃迁。还给出了谱线强度比值Y(309.0)/Y(395.9),Y(358.5)/Y(395.9),Y(452.8)/Y(395.9)随入射离子动能和势能的变化。结果表明:谱线强度比值均随入射离子动能的增加而增大,而比值Y(309.0)/Y(395.9)随势能的增加而减小。分析表明,在低速高电荷态离子与Al靶相互作用过程中,动能(电子阻止本领)和势能共同作用导致Al原子的激发,与激发态Al(4s)相比,电子布居较高激发态Al(3d)的概率随着离子电子阻止本领的增加而增大,而随着离子势能增加而减小。在低速高电荷态离子与金属表面相互作用过程中,入射离子在靶材中的核阻止本领影响溅射原子产额,而电子阻止本领与激发概率相关。在这一作用过程中,动能和势能共同决定溅射原子的激发概率,当动能和势能在同一数量级时,动能作用比势能作用小两个量级。  相似文献

Probing in-medium nucleon-nucleon (NN) cross section σ1/NN(α) in heavy ion collisions has been investigated by means of the isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics (IQMD) with the isospin- and momentum-dependent interaction (IMDI(T)). It is found that there are the very obvious medium effect and the sensitive isospin-dependence of nuclear stopping R on the in-medium NN cross section α1/NN(α) in the nuclear reactions induced by halo-neutron projectile and the same-mass stable projectile. However, R induced by the neutron-halo projectile is obviously lower than that induced by the corresponding stable projectile. In particular, there is a very obvious dependence of R on the medium effect of σ1/NN(α) in the whole beam energy region for the above two kinds of projectiles. Therefore, the comparison between the results of R's in the reactions induced by the neutron-halo projectile and the corresponding same-mass stable projectile is a more favourable probe for extracting the information of σ1/NN(α) because of adding a new judgement.[第一段]  相似文献
