In the present contribution, we report results on energy straggling of He ions penetrating Mylar and polypropylene thin polymeric foils. The measurements were performed in the 900–3000 keV incident particle energy range by using the indirect transmission technique developed previously. The experimental straggling data are corrected to consider the roughness effects due to target thickness inhomogeneity. As expected, the roughness contribution to straggling is more important for helium than for proton ions and decreases as the ion energy increases. At low velocities, (<500 keV/amu), the variation of the experimental energy straggling results differs strongly from predictions based on Bohr’s formalism, and with increasing energies, the experimental results approach gradually the Bohr values.  相似文献

为了研究 MeV能量离子在生物样品中的能量损失与能量离散, 分别使用1.0, 1.8和2.8 MeV质子和4.5 MeV氦离子分别辐照不同质量厚度的洋葱内表皮膜。 当质子穿过该生物样品后, 可以利用透射能谱测量透射离子的能量损失和能量离散。 实验结果显示, 在以上的生物样品中, MeV能量离子的能量损失值和TRIM程序模拟的结果相吻合, 但是透射离子的能量离散值却与TRIM程序模拟结果有很大的不同。 结合生物样品的结构不均匀的特性, 对Bohr能量离散理论进行了修正, 并发现修正后的Bohr能量离散理论计算结果与实验值符合得很好。  相似文献

Large-sized bubble detectors with microscopic droplets of superheated liquids of dichlorodifluoromethane (Freon-12), dichlorotetrafluoroethane (Freon-114), tetrafluoroethane (Freon-134a), and mixture of Freon-12 and Freon-114, respectively, were irradiated with 150 MeV/amu helium ions at the HIMAC accelerator in NIRS, Chiba, Japan. Distributions of bubbles produced by the helium ions have been studied in each type of the detectors. The origin of the bubbles has been investigated. The detection efficiency of each type of the bubble detectors for helium ions with respect to the energy of the ions has been obtained. The phenomenon of bubble occurrence and its possible applications to the determination of He intensity from accelerators, research of track formation mechanism, energy loss straggling and neutron detection in the space and at higher altitude are discussed.  相似文献

A computer program HEDEP-1,written by FORTRAN 77 and run on microcomputer,was developed in order to calculate the depth distribution for swift ion-radiated damage energy in the amorphous materials.The approximation method developed by I.Manning et al.was used in the program.The effects of nuclear force as treating incident ions collision with target atoms were considered.The data of electronic stopping powers given by J.F.Ziegler were used.HEDEP-1 can accept complex targets made up of component materials with elements up to four different kinds and all ions inperiodic table of the elements with energy up to 100MeV/amu.  相似文献

The tracklengths in mica have been measured for iodine and gold ions in the energy range 0 to 1 MeV/amu. These data and those from previous studies have been compared with the Lindhard-Scharff-Schiøtt theory for the stopping of heavy ions in matter. Discrepancies from the theory are discussed.  相似文献

Implantation profiles of 6 to 10 MeV 15N ions in crystalline silicon have been investigated. Measurements of the profiles at depths from 4 to 7 μm were rendered possible by combining the depth profiling of the 15N atoms through the 15N(p, γ) 12C reaction and the exfoliation of the surface layer of the samples, accomplished by high dose 4He ion bombardment. In this way the range profiles, measured at the exfoliated crater bottom, could be obtained accurately without uncertainties due to straggling of the probing proton beam. The range parameters are compared to those of Monte Carlo calculations using the electronic stopping powers given by J.F. Ziegler, J.P. Biersack and U. Littmark [The Stopping Powers and Ranges of Ions in Matter, Vol. 1 (Pergamon, New York, 1985)]. Projected ranges were observed to be 5%–10% larger and range stragglings 27%–6% smaller than those predicted by Monte Carlo calculations along with the adopted stopping power parametrization.  相似文献

A four-body distorted wave approximation is presented for theoretical investigations of the single ionization of groundstate helium atoms by fully stripped carbon ions at impact energies of 2 MeV/amu and 100 MeV/amu. The nine-dimensional integrals for the partial quantum-mechanical transition amplitudes of the specified reaction are reduced to some analytical expressions or one-dimensional integrals over real variables. Fully differential cross sections(FDCSs) are calculated and compared with their experimental values as well as the results obtained from other theories. Despite the simplicity and quickness of the proposed quadrature, the comparison shows that the obtained results are in reasonable agreement with the experiment and are compatible with those of other complicated theories.  相似文献

A comparative study of stopping power codes for different ions in compounds has been made by comparing the computed stopping power values using different codes with the corresponding experimental data. Two computer codes, semiempirical SRIM2006.02 and theoretical CasP3.2 have been used to evaluate and compare the stopping powers of different compounds for protons (125 KeV), helium (500 KeV) and lithium ion (175 KeV) projectiles. The energy behaviour of stopping power of various compounds for helium ion in the energy range (0.3–2.0 MeV) has been studied. The merits and demerits of the adopted formulations are highlighted. It has been observed that the calculation based on SRIM2006.02 provides the best agreement with the experimental data as compared to CasP3.2 code. The stopping power contribution due to target and projectile excitation/ionization at low energies has been evaluated and discussed with reference to CasP3.2 code. From these comparative studies it has been concluded that the target and projectile excitation-ionization increases the stopping power (>20%) at lower energies.  相似文献

We have measured the range and range straggling for energetic 100-900 keV Er ions in amorphous Si by means of Rutherford backscattering followed by spectrum analysis. The results are compared with other experimental data and Monte Carlo (SRIM-2003) calculations. Our experimental results show that, although the measured values for both range and range straggling exceed the SRIM predictions, they are nevertheless consistent with trends that have been previously observed. We see no anomalous trends in range and range straggling parameters for the rare earth ions for implant energies E ≥ 100 keV. We present a detailed consideration of 4He stopping powers in Si due to its crucial impact on RBS range measurements.  相似文献

Energy loss straggling of fast charged particles colliding with atoms have been considered in the eikonal approximation. The result is represented in the form of the Fano formula with a nonperturbative correction. The known nonperturbative Titeica formula (which is transformed to the Fano formula when perturbation theory is applicable) is obtained only under certain approximations in eikonal calculations. It has been shown that straggling calculated with allowance for nonperturbative effects at large charges of the projectile can be significantly different (by an order of magnitude) from the results obtained by Titeica, Fano, and Bohr. Energy loss straggling of fast highly charged ions on hydrogen and copper atoms have been calculated. The latter results are compared to experimental data.  相似文献

Heavy nuclei transport in matter are studied experimentally and theoretically. Our experimental range and straggling values of 0.2 – 1.0 GeV/nucleon 20Ne, 40Ar, 56Fe, 197Au and 238U nuclei in BR-2 nuclear photoemulsion are presented and compared with model calculations carried out according to our RANGE-program and the PRAL-model (version of 1987) developed by Ziegler et al. The presented data analysis points at the necessity to take into account Z3-correction in Bete-Bloch formula when ionization losses of very heavy multicharge ions (for example 197Au and 238U) are calculated. The comparison of experimental and calculated results showed that RANGE program can correctly calculate the ranges and straggling of heavy ions. The difference between experimental and theoretical data do not exceed 5% in all of the cases examined. PRAL model describes the heavy ion ranges quite adequately, but overestimates the particle range straggling.  相似文献

We present total cross sections for single and double ionization of helium by antiproton impact over a wide range of impact energies from 10 keV/amu to 1 MeV/amu. A nonperturbative time-dependent close-coupling method is applied to fully treat the correlated dynamics of the ionized electrons. Excellent agreement is obtained between our calculations and experimental measurements of total single and double ionization cross sections at high impact energies, whereas for lower impact energies, some discrepancies with experiment are found. At an impact energy of 1 MeV we also find that the double-to-single ionization ratio is twice as large for antiproton impact as for proton impact, confirming a long-standing unexpected experimental measurement.  相似文献

Oxygen profiles in silicon implanted with energies between 2 and 20 MeV by means of a Tandem accelerator have been investigated with a microprobe after bevelling the sample surface. It is shown that the measured profiles correspond to the implantation profiles when the microprobe is operated with a well focussed 2 keV electron beam. The projected ion ranges and the profiles thus obtained are compared with theoretical profiles which have been calculated by a Monte Carlo simulation of the stopping procedure. Takingk=1.30k LSS for the electronic stopping coefficient in the LSS region up to 2.55 MeV and a constant value of 162 eV/Å for the electronic stopping at higher energies the calculation yields satisfactory range estimates, whereas the range straggling is systematically too small up to 13% in comparison with the experimental results.  相似文献

The registration properties of PTFE-E (F-40, Russia; Tefzel, DuPont, USA; Hostaflon ET, Germany) having exceptional chemical and thermal (about 300°C) resistance are considered. The polymer samples were irradiated with ions in a wide region of masses (from O up to Xe) and energies (from 1 to 6 MeV/amu). Alkaline KMnO4 solutions at 100°C were used for etching. It is shown that the polymer registration properties depend on the hydrogen content in the polymer. For a copolymer with 2–3 wt% of hydrogen the registration threshold is about 8 MeVcm2/mg. The ion tracks were not found after chemical etching for a copolymer with 1 wt% of hydrogen. Track membranes were produced and examined.  相似文献

Recently, three-dimensional imaging of the ejected electrons following 100 MeV/amu C6+ single ionization of helium led to the observation of a new structure not predicted by theory [Nature (London) 422, 48 (2003)]]. Instead of the usual "recoil lobe" centered on the momentum-transfer axis, a ring-shaped structure centered on the beam axis was observed. New measurements at 2 MeV/amu exhibit a similar structure, which is now predicted by theory. We argue that the same theory failed at 100 MeV/amu because the faster projectiles probe distances much closer to the nucleus, where our multiple-scattering model is expected to break down.  相似文献
