In this paper the J/ψ→μ+μ- reconstruction performance in the CMS experiment at the LHC is studied in detail by using B5→ J/ψψ →μμКК events. The reconstruction efficiencies of J/ψ mesons and their decay muons are obtained as a function of the transverse momentum PT and the pseudo-rapidity η. We also study the muon trigger efficiency for this channel with the planned Level-1 trigger and High Level Trigger selection criteria. It was observed that the muon reconstruction efficiency decreases when the two decay muons have a small or large 3D angular separation, which further affects the overall J/ψ reconstruction efficiency.  相似文献

A new muon and pion capture system is proposed for the China Spallation Neutron Source(CSNS),currently under construction. Using about 4% of the pulsed proton beam(1.6 Ge V, 4 k W and 1 Hz) of CSNS to bombard a cylindrical graphite target inside a superconducting solenoid, both surface muons and pions can be acquired. The acceptance of this novel capture system- a graphite target wrapped up by a superconducting solenoid- is larger than the normal muon beam lines using quadrupoles at one side of the separated muon target. The muon and pion production at different capture magnetic fields was calculated using Geant4. The bending angle of the capture solenoid with respect to the proton beam was also optimized in simulation to achieve more muons and pions.Based on the layout of the muon experimental area reserved at the CSNS project, a preliminary muon beam line was designed with multi-purpose muon spin rotation areas(surface, decay and low-energy muons). Finally, high-flux surface muons(10~8/s) and decay muons(10~9/s) simulated by G4 beamline will be available at the end of the decay solenoid based on the first phase of CSNS. This collection and transport system will be a very effective beam line at a proton current of 2.5 μA.  相似文献

We present a Monte Carlo scheme to generate events of J/ψ decays with angular distributions based on the acceptance-rejection sampling method. We test this scheme with J/ψ → pp and J/ψ → ∧∧ → ppπ^ π^-, and the results show that the input angular distributions are well reproduced, and efficiency of the HOWL generator of this scheme is also discussed.  相似文献

Because of the symmetry of identical particle and the symmetry of isospin, the physical analysis on this channel is quite complicated. In this paper, the method to use the partial wave analysis based on covariant helicity amplitude analysis to study the invariant mass spectrum of ρρπ and to find the evidence of exotic states in ρρπ spectrum is discussed. The decay amplitude for the decay sequence J/ψ→ρX, X →ρπ is given first. Then we discuss how to realize the identical particle symmetry and the isospin symmetry in the decay amplitude, which is the key point in the analysis of this channel. Then the total decay amplitude of this channel including all decay components is given. After that, how to identify the exotic states in the ρρπ spectrum is discussed. What is discussed in this paper is the theoretical basis on experimentally searching for exotic states at BEPC/BES.  相似文献

We propose a scheme to search for the electrical dipole moments (EDMs) and chromodipole moments (CDMs) of a charm quark in the decay J/ψ→γφφ based on J/ψ data samples accumulated on the Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPC). The EDM and CDM interactions are introduced in this decay and then we relate them to some CP asymmetrical observables, which are predicted in the valence quark model. We propose a method to hunt for these values by measuring associated CP asymmetrical observables, and we also discuss the prospect of such measurement on the BEPC.  相似文献

The decays of J/ψ → μ^+μ^- and J/ψ → e^+e^- are studied by Monte-Carlo simulation, based on the Beijing Spectrometer (BES)Ⅲ offtine software system. The methods of determination of the J/ψ event number via J/ψ → μ^+μ^- and J/ψ → e^+e^- are presented, respectively. We discuss interference effects important for the form factors extraction in the vicinity of J/ψ and ψ(2S) resonances in combination with resonance parameters determination. The experimental observation indicates that the branching ratio of ψ→ρπ is very small while the ρ-π channel is a main one in J/ψ decays.To understand the puzzle,various interpretations have been proposed.Meanwhile according to the hadronic helicity selection rule,this decay mode should be suppressed.Numerical calculations are needed to determine how it is suppressed.We calculate the branching ratios of J/ψ→ρπ and ππ in the framework of QCD.The results show that the branching ratios are proportional to [(Mu+md)/(mJ/ψ)]2 for the ρπ mode and [(Mu-md)/(mJ/ψ)]2 for the ππ mode which is isospin violated.The theoretical prediction of the ratio of J/ψ→ρπ is smaller than data,but not too small to invoke a completely new mechanism.Thus the puzzle is still standing even though we learn much knowledge towards the puzzle and this will help to finally interpret the puzzle and then gain a deeper insight to the heavy quarkonia.  相似文献

Using a dedicated data sample taken in 2018 on the J/ψ peak, we perform a detailed study of the trigger efficiencies of the BESⅢ detector. The efficiencies are determined from three representative physics processes,namely Bhabha scattering, dimuon production and generic hadronic events with charged particles. The combined efficiency of all active triggers approaches 100% in most cases, with uncertainties small enough not to affect most physics analyses.  相似文献

We calculate the inclusive decay rates of ηb into charmonium via double c~ pairs for S- and P-wave states ηc, J/ψ and XcJ within the framework of non-relativistic QCD (NRQCD) factorization at leading order in αs. Besides calculating the contributions of the color-singlet channels ηb → cc[2s+1SL^(1)]+cc, the effects of cc pair in the color-octet configurations are also considered. We find that ηb → cc[3S1^(8)] +cc make a small contribution to Br(ηb →J/ψ(ηc)+cc). While in the ηb →XcJ +cc case, the color octet contributions are significant, for they are of the same a 5 order as the color-singlet processes. We predict Br(ηb →J/ψ(ηc)+cc) = 2.99(2.75) × 10^-5 Vc for S-wave states J/ψ and ηc, and Br(ηb → XcJ +cc) = (4.37, 3.40, 2.83) × 10^-5 (for J = 0,1, 2) for P-wave states XcJ. In the end, we also find Br(ηb → cccc) is almost saturated by ηb decay into charmonium in association with cc pair from the point of view of duality.  相似文献

Vacuum polarization is a part of the initial-state radiative correction for the cross-section of e~+e~- annihilation processes. In the energy region in the vicinity of narrow resonances J/ψ and ψ(3686), the vacuum polarization contribution from the resonant component has a significant effect on the line-shape of the lepton pair production cross-section. This paper discusses some basic concepts and describes an analytical calculation of the cross-section of e~+e~-→γ*/ψ→μ+μ-considering the single and double vacuum polarization effect of the virtual photon propagator. Based on J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector,with corresponding Monte Carlo samples,the tracking efficiency and its systematic uncertainty are studied using a control sample of J/ψ→ppπ~+π~-.Validation methods and different factors influencing the tracking efficiency are presented in detail.The tracking efficiency and its systematic uncertainty for protons and pions with the transverse momentum and polar angle dependence are also discussed.  相似文献

The exclusive decay of the Higgs boson to a vector meson(J/ψ or Υ(1 S)) and Z boson is studied in this work. The decay amplitudes are separated into two parts in a gauge invariant manner. The first part comes from the direct coupling of the Higgs boson to the charm(bottom) quark and the other from the HZZ*or the loop-induced HZγ*vertexes in the standard model. While the branching ratios from the direct channel are much smaller than those of the indirect channel, their interference terms give nontrivial contributions. We further calculate the QCD radiative corrections to both channels, which reduce the total branching ratios by around 20% for both J/ψ and Υ(1S) production. Our results provide a possible chance to check the SM predictions of the Hcc(Hbb)coupling and to seek for hints of new physics at the High Luminosity LHC or future hadron colliders.  相似文献

The world's largest sample of J/ψ events, 1.31 billion events accumulated at the BESIII detector, provides a unique opportunity to investigate η and η physics via two-body J/ψ radiative or hadronic decays. For many η decay channels the low background data samples are up to three orders of magnitude larger than collected in any previous experiment. Here we review the most significant results on η and η obtained at BESIII so far. The analyses range from detailed studies of common decay dynamics, observations of new radiative and Dalitz decays, and searches for rare/forbidden decays with sensitivity up to B~10-5. Finally, prospects of forthcoming runs at the J/ψ peak forη and η physics are discussed.  相似文献

The process e+e-→J/ψ+X with the center-of-mass(CM)energy in the range from 3.7 to 10.6 GeV is calculated up to the next-to-leading order(NLO)in quantum chromodynamics(QCD).At 10.6 GeV,the result is consistent with the experimental result from Belle.However,the predictions are much smaller than the background in the measurements at BESIII in the low CM energy range from 3.7 to 4.6 GeV.This indicates that the convergence of the QCD perturbative expansion becomes worse as the CM energy is closer to the inclusive J/ψ production threshold.For a further study of the QCD mechanism of J/ψ production in e~+e~-collisions with different CM energies,the initial state radiation effect of e~+e~-→J/ψ +gg and e~+e~-→J/ψ+cc are calculated in QCD NLO.The results are plotted and the number of events for different CM energy bins are provided for SuperKEKB.This provides a method to precisely test the validity of perturbative predictions for J/ψ production in future measurements.  相似文献

In this talk, we firstly overview the experimental status of Nx(1625), which is an enhancement structure observed in K-3. invariant mass spectrum of J/ψ → pK-∧. process. Then we present the result of the decay of Nx(1625) under the two molecular assumptions, i.e. S-wave∧K- and S-wave ∑0K- molecular states.
