We report a full-dimensional potential energy surface for H3O2-, based on fitting 66,965 ab initio electronic energies. A major feature of this potential is a barrier of roughly 200 cm-1 to internal rotation of the two hydroxyl groups about a line connecting the two oxygen atoms and the bridging hydrogen atom. The potential is used in calculations of vibrational energies, performed with the "Reaction Path" version of the code "MULTIMODE". The results are compared to recent infrared messenger experiments and are used to propose interpretations of the experimental results.  相似文献

We study the reaction Cl + CH(4)--> HCl + CH(3) using a 2-D potential energy surface obtained by fitting a double Morse analytical function to high level (CCSD(T)/cc-pVTZ//MP2/cc-pVTZ)ab initio data. Dynamics simulations are performed in hyperspherical coordinates with the close-coupled equations being solved using R-matrix propagation. Quantum contributions from spectator modes are included via a harmonic zero-point correction to the ab initio data prior to fitting the potential. This is the first time this method has been applied to a heavy-light-heavy reaction and the first time it has been used to study differential cross sections. We find thermal rate constants and state-to-state differential cross sections which are in good agreement with experimental data. We discuss the applicability of our method to the study of kinetic isotope effects (KIEs), which we derive for the CH(4)/CD(4) substitution. The calculated KIE compares favourably with experiment. Finally, we discuss the sensitivity of the results of dynamics simulations on the accuracy of the fitted potential.  相似文献

We report vibrational configuration interaction calculations of the monomer fundamentals of (H(2)O)(2), (D(2)O)(2), (H(2)O)(3), and (D(2)O)(3) using the code MULTIMODE and full dimensional ab initio-based global potential energies surfaces (PESs). For the dimer the HBB PES [Huang et al., J. Chem. Phys 128, 034312 (2008)] is used and for the trimer a new PES, reported here, is used. The salient properties of the new trimer PES are presented and compared to previous single-point calculations and the vibrational energies are compared with experiments.  相似文献

We report quantum diffusion Monte Carlo (DMC) and variational calculations in full dimensionality for selected vibrational states of H(5)O(2) (+) using a new ab initio potential energy surface [X. Huang, B. Braams, and J. M. Bowman, J. Chem. Phys. 122, 044308 (2005)]. The energy and properties of the zero-point state are focused on in the rigorous DMC calculations. OH-stretch fundamentals are also calculated using "fixed-node" DMC calculations and variationally using two versions of the code MULTIMODE. These results are compared with infrared multiphoton dissociation measurements of Yeh et al. [L. I. Yeh, M. Okumura, J. D. Myers, J. M. Price, and Y. T. Lee, J. Chem. Phys. 91, 7319 (1989)]. Some preliminary results for the energies of several modes of the shared hydrogen are also reported.  相似文献

We present full-dimensional potential energy surfaces (PESs) for hydrated chloride based on the sum of ab initio (H(2)O)Cl(-), (H(2)O)(2), and (H(2)O)(3) potentials. The PESs are shown to predict minima and corresponding harmonic frequencies accurately on the basis of comparisons with previous and new ab initio calculations for (H(2)O)(2)Cl(-), (H(2)O)(3)Cl(-), and (H(2)O)(4)Cl(-). An estimate of the effect of the 3-body water interaction is made using a simple 3-body water potential that was recently fit to tens of thousands of ab initio 3-body energies. Anharmonic, coupled vibrational calculations are presented for these clusters, using the "local monomer model" for the high frequency intramolecular modes. This model is tested against previous "exact" calculations for (H(2)O)Cl(-). Radial distribution functions at 0 K obtained from quantum zero-point wave functions are also presented for the (H(2)O)(2)Cl(-) and (H(2)O)(3)Cl(-) clusters.  相似文献

Many areas of astronomy and astrophysics require an accurate high temperature spectrum of methane (CH4). The goal of the present research is to determine an accurate ab initio potential energy surface (PES) for CH4. As a first step towards this goal, we have determined a PES including up to octic terms. We compare our results with experiment and to a PES based on a quartic expansion. Our octic PES gives good agreement with experiment for all levels, while the quartic PES only for the lower levels.  相似文献

Six-dimensional (6D) potential energy surfaces (PESs) of H(2)CS have been generated ab initio using the recently proposed explicitly correlated (F12) singles and doubles coupled cluster method including a perturbational estimate of connected triple excitations, CCSD(T)-F12b [T. B. Adler, G. Knizia, and H.-J. Werner, J. Chem. Phys. 127, 221106 (2007)] in conjunction with F12-optimized correlation consistent basis sets. Core-electron correlation, high-order correlation, scalar relativistic, and diagonal Born-Oppenheimer terms were included as additive high-level (HL) corrections. The resulting 6D PESs were represented by analytical functions which were used in variational calculations of the vibrational term values below 5000 cm(-1). The best PESs obtained with and without the HL corrections, VQZ-F12(*HL) and VQZ-F12?, reproduce the fundamental vibrational wavenumbers with mean absolute deviations of 1.13 and 1.22 cm(-1), respectively. A detailed analysis of the effects of the HL corrections shows how the VQZ-F12 results benefit from error cancellation. The present purely ab initio PESs will be useful as starting points for empirical refinements towards an accurate "spectroscopic" PES of H(2)CS.  相似文献

Quantum calculations of the ground vibrational state tunneling splitting of H-atom and D-atom transfer in malonaldehyde are performed on a full-dimensional ab initio potential energy surface (PES). The PES is a fit to 11 147 near basis-set-limit frozen-core CCSD(T) electronic energies. This surface properly describes the invariance of the potential with respect to all permutations of identical atoms. The saddle-point barrier for the H-atom transfer on the PES is 4.1 kcalmol, in excellent agreement with the reported ab initio value. Model one-dimensional and "exact" full-dimensional calculations of the splitting for H- and D-atom transfer are done using this PES. The tunneling splittings in full dimensionality are calculated using the unbiased "fixed-node" diffusion Monte Carlo (DMC) method in Cartesian and saddle-point normal coordinates. The ground-state tunneling splitting is found to be 21.6 cm(-1) in Cartesian coordinates and 22.6 cm(-1) in normal coordinates, with an uncertainty of 2-3 cm(-1). This splitting is also calculated based on a model which makes use of the exact single-well zero-point energy (ZPE) obtained with the MULTIMODE code and DMC ZPE and this calculation gives a tunneling splitting of 21-22 cm(-1). The corresponding computed splittings for the D-atom transfer are 3.0, 3.1, and 2-3 cm(-1). These calculated tunneling splittings agree with each other to within less than the standard uncertainties obtained with the DMC method used, which are between 2 and 3 cm(-1), and agree well with the experimental values of 21.6 and 2.9 cm(-1) for the H and D transfer, respectively.  相似文献

There has been great progress in the development of potential energy surfaces (PESs) for reaction dynamics that are fits to ab initio energies. The fitting techniques described here explicitly represent the invariance of the PES with respect to all permutations of like atoms. A review of a subset of dynamics calculations using such PESs (currently 16 such PESs exist) is then given. Bimolecular reactions of current interest to the community, namely, H + CH(4) and F + CH(4), are focused on. Unimolecular reactions are then reviewed, with a focus on the photodissociation dynamics of H(2)CO and CH(3)CHO, where so-called "roaming" pathways have been discovered. The challenges for electronically non-adiabatic reactions, and associated PESs, are presented with a focus on the OH* + H(2) reaction. Finally, some thoughts on future directions and challenges are given.  相似文献

We present a full-dimensional potential energy surface and a dipole moment surface (DMS) for hydrated sodium ion. These surfaces are based on an n-body expansion for both the potential energy and the dipole moment, truncated at the two-body level for the H(2)O-Na(+) interaction and also for the DMS. The water-water interaction is truncated at the three-body level. The new full-dimensional two-body H(2)O-Na(+) potential is a fit to roughly 20,000 coupled-cluster single double (triple)/aug-cc-pVTZ energies. Properties of this two-body potential and the potential describing (H(2)O)(n)Na(+) clusters, with n up to 4 are given. We then report anharmonic, coupled vibrational calculations with the "local-monomer model" to obtain infrared spectra and also 0 K radial distribution functions for these clusters. Some comparisons are made with the recent infrared predissociation spectroscopy experiments of Miller and Lisy [J. Am. Chem. Soc. 130, 15381 (2008).].  相似文献

The conformational stability, barriers to internal rotation and vibrational frequencies of trivinylborane have been determined from the vibrational spectra and ab initio calculations. The ab initio calculations have been carried out utilizing the RHF/3-21G, RHF/6-31G*, and MP2/6-31G* basis sets and support the vibrational data that there are two stable conformations in the fluid phases separated by a relatively small energy difference. One of the conformations is a near-planar form which has the three vinyl groups twisted out of the BC3 plane and belongs to the C3 point group. The other conformer has a non-planar structure and belongs to the C1 point group. These and other calculated results are compared to the corresponding quantities obtained from the experiment.  相似文献

Classical trajectory calculations have been performed to investigate the collision-induced dissociation (CID) of the CH(3)SH(+) cation with Ar atoms. A new intramolecular potential energy surface for the CH(3)SH(+) cation is evaluated by interpolation of 3000 ab initio data points calculated at the MP2/6-311G(d,p) level of theory. The new potential energy surface includes seven accessible dissociation channels of the cation. The present QCT calculations show that migration of hydrogen atoms, leading to the rearrangement CH(3)SH(+) <--> CH(2)SH(2)(+), is significant at the collision energies considered (6.5-34.7 eV) and that the formation of CH(3)(+), CH(3)S(+), and CH(2)(+) cations takes place primarily by a "shattering" mechanism in which the products are formed just after the collision. The theoretical product abundances are found to be in qualitative agreement with the experimental data. However, at high collision energies, the calculated total cross sections for the formation of CH(3)(+) and CH(2)SH(+) cations are noticeably larger than the experimental determinations. Several features of the dynamics of the CID processes are discussed.  相似文献

We report an analytical ab initio three degrees of freedom (3D) spin-orbit-correction surface for the entrance channel of the F + methane reaction obtained by fitting the differences between the spin-orbit (SO) and non-relativistic electronic ground state energies computed at the MRCI+Q/aug-cc-pVTZ level of theory. The 3D model surface is given in terms of the distance, R(C-F), and relative orientation, Euler angles ? and θ, of the reactants treating CH(4) as a rigid rotor. The full-dimensional (12D) "hybrid" SO-corrected potential energy surface (PES) is obtained from the 3D SO-correction surface and a 12D non-SO PES. The SO interaction has a significant effect in the entrance-channel van der Waals region, whereas the effect on the energy at the early saddle point is only ~5% of that at the reactant asymptote; thus, the SO correction increases the barrier height by ~122 cm(-1). The 12D quasiclassical trajectory calculations for the F + CH(4) and F + CHD(3) reactions show that the SO effects decrease the cross sections by a factor of 2-4 at low collision energies and the effects are less significant as the collision energy increases. The inclusion of the SO correction in the PES does not change the product state distributions.  相似文献

A new global potential energy surface for the lowest triplet electronic state (a(3)A") of HNO has been developed by a three-dimensional cubic spline interpolation of more than 13,000 ab initio points, which were calculated at the multireference configuration interaction level with Davidson correction using the augmented correlation-consistent polarized valence quintuple zeta basis set. Two minima and five saddle points were found on the potential energy surface. Low-lying vibrational states were obtained in this new potential using the Lanczos method and assigned. In addition, thermal rate constants for the N + OH → H + NO reactions were obtained using an exact wave packet method. Reasonably good agreement with experimental data was obtained.  相似文献

A method for the calculation of the two-body intermolecular potential which can be applied to large molecules is presented. Each monomer is fragmented in a number of moieties whose interaction energies are used to recover the interaction energy of the whole dimer. For these reasons this strategy has been called fragmentation reconstruction method (FRM). By a judicious choice of the fragmentation scheme it is shown that very accurate interaction energies can be obtained. The sampling of the potential energy surface of a dimer is then used to obtain intermolecular force fields at several levels of complexity, suitable to be employed in bulk phase computer simulations. Applications are presented for benzene and for some mesogenic molecules which constitute the principal interest of the authors. A number of properties ranging from phase stability, thermodynamic quantities, orientational order parameter and collective dynamics properties are computed and discussed.  相似文献

The tryptophyl-glycine (Trp-Gly) and tryptophyl-glycyl-glycine (Trp-Gly-Gly) peptides have been studied by means of molecular dynamic simulations combined with high-level correlated ab initio quantum chemical and statistical thermodynamic calculations. The lowest energy conformers were localized in the free energy surface. The structures of the different Trp-Gly and Trp-Gly-Gly conformers coexisting in the gas phase have been for the first time reported and their scaled theoretical IR spectra unambiguously assigned and compared with previous gas-phase experimental results. Common geometrical features have been systematically observed for the sequence Trp, Trp-Gly, and Trp-Gly-Gly. In addition, the peptide backbone of Trp-Gly-Gly has been compared with that of the previously studied Phe-Gly-Gly (Reha, D. et. al. Chem. Eur. J. 2005, 11, 6803). From the observed systematic structural behavior between these peptide analogues, it is expected that the gas-phase conformers of other similar aromatic small peptides would present equivalent geometries. The DFT methodology failed to describe the potential energy surface of the studied peptides since the London dispersion energy (not covered in DFT) plays a significant role in the stabilization of most stable conformers.  相似文献

In this work the authors present an experimental and theoretical study about the Q-branch lines' broadening coefficients of N2 perturbed by H2. Experimental values for these parameters have been obtained at 440 and 580 K, and quantum calculations have been performed using a new ab initio potential energy surface, obtained by quantum chemistry methods. The results of these calculations are compared to experimental data obtained previously at 77 and 298 K [L. Gomez et al., Mol. Phys. 104, 1869 (2006)] and to the present measurements. A satisfactory agreement is obtained for the whole range of temperatures used in the experiments.  相似文献

Summary The RHF and geometry optimization sections of the ab initio quantum chemistry code, GAMESS, have been optimized for a network of parallel microprocessors, Inmos T800-20 transputers, using both indirect and direct SCF techniques. The results indicate great scope for implementation of such codes on small parallel computer systems, very high efficiencies having been achieved, particularly in the cases of direct SCF and geometry optimization with large basis sets. The work, although performed upon one particular parallel system, the Meiko Computing Surface, is applicable to a wide range of parallel systems with both shared and distributed memory.  相似文献
