A new tetranuclear copper(II) complex (I) and a new mononuclear cobalt(III) complex (II) have been synthesized from the Schiff base compound 2-[(2-dimethylaminoethylimino)methyl]-4-methylphenol. The complexes have been characterized by physico-chemical and spectroscopic methods, as well as single crystal X-ray determination (CIF files CCDC nos. 1447778 (I) and 1447779 (II)). The Cu atoms in complex I are in square pyramidal coordination, and the Co atom in complex II is in octahedral coordination. Crystal structures of the complex are stabilized by hydrogen bonds and π···π interactions. The complexes and the Schiff base compound were assayed for antibacterial activities against three Gram-positive bacterial strains (B. subtilis, S. aureus, and St. faecalis) and three Gram-negative bacterial strains (E. coli, P. aeruginosa, and E. cloacae) by MTT method. As a result, the complexes showed effective antimicrobial activity against the microorganisms tested. 相似文献

By condensation of rimantadine and substituted salicylaldehyde, three new Schiff bases, HL1, HL2 and HL3, were synthesized. Then, a mixture of one of the new ligands and cobalt(II) chloride hexahydrate in ethanol led to 1, 2, and 3, respectively. These complexes were characterized by melting point, elemental analysis, infrared spectra, molar conductance, thermal analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that 1 crystallizes in the orthorhombic system, Pbcn space group; each asymmetric unit consists of one cobalt(II) ion, two deprotonated ligands, and one lattice water. The central cobalt is four coordinate via two nitrogens and two oxygens from the corresponding Schiff base ligand, forming a distorted tetrahedral geometry. Complexes 2 and 3 crystallize in the monoclinic system, P21/c space group; each asymmetric unit consists of one cobalt(II), two corresponding deprotonated ligands, one lattice water, and one methanol. The central cobalt is also four-coordinate via two nitrogens and two oxygens from the corresponding Schiff base ligand, forming a distorted tetrahedral geometry. 相似文献

AbstractA series of six new mononuclear Schiff base complexes, 1–6 of cobalt(III) of the general formula, [CoLX] or its adduct with methanol, is reported. The pentadentate Schiff base ligand (H2L) was obtained by the condensation of N-(3-aminopropyl)-N-methylpropane-1,3-diamine with 1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)ethanone (H2L1) or 1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)propan-1-one (H2L2). X stands for the pseudohalides, N3–, N(CN)2? , and NCS–. The complexes have been synthesized by the reaction of equimolar amounts of cobalt(II) nitrate with H2L1 or H2L2 in the presence of the respective pseudohalide in methanol medium. All the complexes have been characterized by microanalytical, spectroscopic, single crystal XRD (except 3), and other physicochemical studies. Structural studies reveal that the central Co(III) ion in 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 adopts a distorted octahedral geometry with a CoN4O2 chromophore. Weak intermolecular H-bonding and/or π-interactions are operative in these complexes to bind the molecular units. The antimicrobial activity of all the complexes and their constituent Schiff bases has been tested against some common bacteria and fungi. 相似文献

A pair of isostructural azido- or thiocyanato-bridged centrosymmetric dinuclear copper(II) complexes, [Cu2L2(μ1,3-N3)2] (1) and [Cu2L2(μ1,3-NCS)2] (2), derived from the Schiff base ligand 4-nitro-2-[(2-diethylaminoethylimino)methyl]phenol (HL), have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Each Cu atom in the complexes is five-coordinate in a square pyramidal geometry by one O and two N atoms of one Schiff base ligand, and by two terminal donor atoms from two bridging azide or thiocyanate ligands. Both the azide and thiocyanate ligands adopt end-to-end bridging mode in the complexes. The distance between the two copper atoms is 5.205(2) Å for (1) and 5.515(2) Å for (2). The antimicrobial activity of the complexes has been tested. 相似文献

An asymmetric bidentate Schiff-base ligand (2-hydroxybenzyl-2-furylmethyl)imine (L–OH) was prepared. Three complexes derived from L–OH were synthesized by treating an ethanolic solution of the appropriate ligand with an equimolar amount of metallic salt. Three complexes, Cu2(L–O?)2Cl2 (1), Ni(L–O?)2 (2) and Co(L–O?)3 (3), have been structurally characterized through elemental analysis, IR, UV spectra and thermogravimetric analysis. Single crystal X-ray diffraction shows metal ions and ligands reacted with different proportions 1?:?1, 1?:?2 and 1?:?3, respectively, so copper(II), nickel(II), and cobalt(III) have different geometries. 相似文献

Two novel coordination complexes, namely, [Cd(2-NOA)2(TBZ)2] (1) and [Mn(2-NOA)2(H2O)2]n (2) (2-NOAH = 2-naphthoxyacetic acid), have been hydrothermally synthesized through the reaction of 2-naphthoxyacetic acid with or without N-donor ancillary coligand (thiabendazole, TBZ) in the presence of divalent transition-metal salts. Complex 1 is a zero-dimensional (0D) molecule, and the self-complementary C–H···O hydrogen bonds extend these molecules into a 2D supramolecular framework. In polymer 2, 2-NOA ? acts as a bridging ligand to bind Mn(II) ions to form a 2D supermolecular assembly. Also, IR spectra, powder X-ray diffraction, fluorescence properties and thermal decomposition process of complexes were investigated. The effect of the TBZ base ligand and the complex 1 on the antimicrobial activity against Candida albicans was studied. 相似文献

A new series of Cu(II), Ni(II), and Co(II) complexes have been synthesized from 3-formylchromoniminopropylsilatrane (C19H24O5N2Si) (2) and 3-formylchromoniminopropyltriethoxysilane (1). Silatrane ligand (C19H24O5N2Si) (2) has been synthesized by the reaction between 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane and 3-formylchromone followed by a treatment with triethanolamine. The nature of bonding and the geometry of the complexes have been deduced from elemental analyses, magnetic susceptibility, infrared, electronic, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and ESR spectral studies. The electronic absorption spectra and magnetic susceptibility measurements of the complexes indicate square planar geometry for Cu(II) and Ni(II) and tetrahedral geometry for Co(II). The redox behavior of copper complexes was studied by cyclic voltammetry. The biological activity of the ligand and metal complexes has been studied on Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia Coli, and Bacillus subtilis by the well diffusion method using acetonitrile as solvent. The zone of inhibition values were measured at 37°C for 24 h. Antimicrobial screening tests show better results for the metal complexes than the ligand. 相似文献

Two novel complexes, C38H48CoN2O2 (I) and C38H48N2O2Zn (II), were prepared through an analogous procedure with a corresponding metal chloride and a bulky Schiff base ligand (HL) which derived from rimantadine and salicylaldehyde in appropriate solvents, respectively. They were structurally characterized by the means of IR, UV-Vis, elemental analysis, molar conductance, PXRD and single-crystal X-ray diffraction (CIF files nos. 946735 (I), 893304 (II)). Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that I belongs to the triclinic system, \(P\overline 1 \) space group; each asymmetric unit consists of one cobalt(II) complex and one lattice ethanol molecule. In each complex molecule, cobalt(II) atom is four-coordinated via two oxygen atoms and two nitrogen atoms from the deprotonated Schiff base ligands, forming an approximate planar geometry. The crystal structure also involves strong O–H···O intermolecular hydrogen bonds between the solvent alcoholic and phenol O atoms of complex molecule. Complex II belongs to the monoclinic system, Cc space group. Each asymmetric unit consists of one zinc(II) ion and two deprotonated ligands. Zinc(II) atom lies on a twofold rotation axis and is four-coordinated via two nitrogen atoms and two oxygen atoms from the Schiff base ligands, forming a distorted tetrahedral geometry. 相似文献
