A semi-analytical model for the capacitance–voltage characteristics of graphene nanoribbon field-effect transistors (GNR-FETs), in the quantum capacitance limit, is presented. The model incorporates the presence of electron–hole puddles induced by local potential fluctuations assuming a Gaussian distribution associated with these puddles. Our numerical results show that the multi-peaks in the non-monotonic quantum capacitance–voltage characteristics are broadened as the potential fluctuation strength increases and the broadening effect is much more pronounced in wide GNRs. The influence of both gate-insulator thickness and dielectric constant scaling on the total gate-capacitance characteristics is also explored. Gate capacitance has non-monotonic behavior with ripples for thin gate-insulators. However, as we go beyond the quantum capacitance limit by increasing insulator thickness or decreasing dielectric constant, the ripples are suppressed and smooth monotonic characteristics are obtained.  相似文献

We studied the nature of fluctuations around the phase transition of vehicular traffic by analyzing a time series of successive variations of velocity, obtained from single-vehicle data measured by an onboard apparatus. We found that the probability density function calculated from the time series of variation of velocity is transformed irreversibly in the critical region, where a Gaussian distribution changes into a Lévy stable symmetrical distribution. The power-law tail in the Lévy distribution indicated that the time series of velocity variation exhibits the nature of the critical fluctuations generally observed in phase transitions driven far from equilibrium. Furthermore, single-vehicle data enabled us to calculate the time evolution of the local flux–density relation, which suggested that the vehicular traffic system spontaneously approaches a delicate balance between metastable states and congested-flow states. The nature of fluctuations enables us to understand mechanisms behind the spontaneous decay of the metastable branch at the phase transition. The power-law tail in the probability density function suggests that dynamical processes of vehicular traffic in the critical region are related to a time-discrete stochastic process driven by random amplification with additive external noise.  相似文献

In this paper we derive expressions for the probability densities of the appearance of the first caustic for a plane sound wave propagating in moving random media. Our approach generalizes the previous work by White et al. and Klyatskin in the case of motionless media. It allows us to calculate analytically the probability density functions for two- and three-dimensional media and to express these functions in terms of the diffusion coefficient. Explicit equations are given for Gaussian and von Karman spectra of velocity fluctuations. If the random scalar or vectorial fluctuations of the medium have the same contribution to the refractive-index fluctuations, we demonstrate that in a moving medium caustics appear at shorter distances than in a non-moving one. The two-dimensional version of the theory is tested by numerical simulations in the case of velocity fluctuations with Gaussian spectra. Numerical results are in very good agreement with the theoretical predictions.  相似文献

Stationary response of a travelling system to profile-imposed excitation is investigated. The system is treated as linear and both the profile and traversal velocity of the system are considered to be stationary and Gaussian random functions of horizontal distance. The problem is formulated by means of a differential equation with random coefficients, and detailed analysis of vertical vibrations of the system travelling with small random velocity fluctuations is performed. An analytical expression for response spectral density is obtained in a relatively simple form for a general case, and this is used in calculation of the effect of randomly-varying velocity on a system's response in particular cases relevant to vehicle dynamics.  相似文献

This paper studies some interesting features of two-dimensional granular shearing flow by using molecular dynamic approach for a specific granular system.The obtained results show that the probability distribution function of velocities of particles is Gaussian at the central part,but diverts from Gaussian distribution nearby the wall.The macroscopic stress along the vertical direction has large fluctuation around a constant value,the non-zero average velocity occurs mainly near the moving wall,which forms a shearing zone.In the shearing movement,the volume of the granular material behaves in a random manner.The equivalent friction coefficient between moving slab and granular material correlates with the moving speed at low velocity,and approaches constant as the velocity is large enough.  相似文献

The random nature of diffusing jumps and cascade occurrence produce stochastic fluctuations of the point-defect fluxes. The effect of such fluctuations on the kinetics of void growth is investigated in the present paper. It is found that the non-linear coupling between the stochastic fluctuations and the void sizes may lead to the instability of void evolution within the mean-field theory, when the sizes of voids and their growth rates are both relatively small. The growth rate of voids becomes dominated by the stochastic component, causing the smaller voids to shrink away. This effect is investigated in terms of a non-equilibrium phase transition induced by a purely random stochastic noise. The derived conditions for this non-equilibrium transition are compared favourably with experimental observations. The influence of disorder and pseudogap fluctuations on the Mott insulator-metal transition in strongly correlated systems has been studied in the framework of the generalized dynamic mean field theory (DMFT + Σ approach). Using the results of investigations of the density of states (DOS) and optical conductivity, a phase diagram (disorder-Hubbard interaction-temperature) is constructed for the paramagnetic Anderson-Hubbard model, which allows both the effects of strong electron correlations and the influence of strong disorder to be considered. Strong correlations are described using the DMFT, while a strong disorder is described using a generalized self-consistent theory of localization. The DOS and optical conductivity of the paramagnetic Hubbard model have been studied in a pseudogap state caused by antiferromagnetic spin (or charge) short-range order fluctuations with a finite correlation length, which have been modeled by a static Gaussian random field. The effect of a pseudogap on the Mott insulator-metal transition has been studied. It is established that, in both cases, the static Gaussian random field (related to the disorder or pseudogap fluctuations) leads to suppression of the Mott transition, broadening of the coexistence region of the insulator and metal phases, and an increase in the critical temperature at which the coexistence region disappears.  相似文献

We study dynamics of freely cooling granular gases in two dimensions using large-scale molecular dynamics simulations. We find that for dilute systems the typical kinetic energy decays algebraically with time, E(t) approximately t(-1), and velocity statistics are characterized by a universal Gaussian distribution in the long time limit. We show that in the late clustering regime particles move coherently as typical local velocity fluctuations, Deltav, are small compared with the typical velocity, Deltav/v approximately t(-1/4). Furthermore, locally averaged shear modes dominate over acoustic modes. The small thermal velocity fluctuations suggest that the system can be heuristically described by Burgers-like equations.  相似文献

For fully developed turbulence in an incompressible fluid described by the Navier-Stokes equations with Gaussian random forces the relation between the energy spectrum and the stirring mechanism is investigated within a variational approach. Therein, the effect of nonlinear mode coupling is approximated by a wave number dependent eddy viscosity determined via a nonlinear integral equation for the energy spectrum. For various stirring spectra analytic approximations are compared with the solution obtained numerically with a cutoff in the integral kernel which ensures in eddy relaxing processes that the stirring forces exert strain only on scales larger than the eddy size. The results are compared with renormalization group calculations and closure approximations. Random forces injecting energy at a ratek –1 into the wave number banddk aroundk lead to a Kolmogorov distribution of energy. The spectrum of small-scale velocity fluctuations is shown to be universal in the sense that it remains unchanged under variations of the long wavelength stirring spectra.  相似文献

We develop a scaling theory for Kardar-Parisi-Zhang growth in one dimension by a detailed study of the polynuclear growth model. In particular, we identify three universal distributions for shape fluctuations and their dependence on the macroscopic shape. We propose a new approach to the old-standing problem of the anomaly of the scaling exponents of passive scalars of turbulence. Different to the original problem, the distribution function of the prescribed random velocity field is multi-dimensional normal and delta-correlated in time. Here, our random velocity field is spatially correlative. For comparison, we also give the result obtained by the Gaussian random velocity field without spatial correlation. The anomalous scaling exponents H(p) of passive scalar advected by two kinds of random velocity above are determined for structure function up to p=15 by numerical simulations of the random shell model with Runge-Kutta methods to solve the stochastic differential equations. We observed that the H(p)'s obtained by the multi-dimensional normal distribution random velocity are more anomalous than those obtained by the independent Gaussian random velocity.  相似文献

The analytic expressions are derived for the turbulent broadening, the long-term temporal broadening, the acquisition probability of single-pulse and the transmittance probability density of a pulsed space-time Bessel photon-beam propagating along a slant path in weak non-Kolmogorov atmospheric turbulence, based on the assumption of a pulsed Bessel beam with the initial Gaussian temporal shape of pulse and diffraction-free spatial distribution. It is shown that the turbulent broadening and the long-term temporal broadening are the nolinear-increase functions of the index of non-Kolmogorov turbulence and the effect of non-Kolmogorov index on the acquisition probability of single-pulse can be approximatively described by a Gaussian function with a peak value at non-Kolmogorov index close to 3.7 for the case of the input half-pulse width greater than picosecond (ps). The transmittance of probability density is decreasing as the increasing of the structure constant of the index of refraction, the zenith angle of communication channel, the propagation path and the pulse broadening. There is turbulent diffraction for Bessel beam propagation in turbulent atmosphere, but its free-space diffraction-free characteristic is reservation.  相似文献

Thermodynamic fluctuations in systems that are in nonequilibrium steady states are always spatially long ranged, in contrast to fluctuations in thermodynamic equilibrium. In the present paper we consider a fluid subjected to a stationary temperature gradient. Two different physical mechanisms have been identified by which the temperature gradient causes long-ranged fluctuations. One cause is the presence of couplings between fluctuating fields. Secondly, spatial variation of the strength of random forces, resulting from the local version of the fluctuation-dissipation theorem, has also been shown to generate long-ranged fluctuations. We evaluate the contributions to the long-ranged temperature fluctuations due to both mechanisms. While the inhomogeneously correlated Langevin noise does lead to long-ranged fluctuations, in practice, they turn out to be negligible as compared to nonequilibrium temperature fluctuations resulting from the coupling between temperature and velocity fluctuations.  相似文献

A theory for the statistical emission of large fragments is developed. In analogy with the fission saddle point, a ridge line in the potential energy surface is defined which controls the decay width of the system into any two given fragments. The normal modes at the ridge are separated into three classes: decay modes, amplifying modes, and non-amplifying modes. Amplifying modes are those whose thermal fluctuations are amplified and lead to a broadening of the kinetic energy distribution. Analytical expressions for the kinetic energy distributions are developed for various combinations of amplifying and non-amplifying modes. The limit for large amplifications is a Gaussian kinetic energy distribution. The limit for no amplification is a Maxwellian-like distribution. Thus the formalism comprehends the fission decay on one hand and the neutron evaporation on the other. The angular distributions are evaluated in terms of the ridge line principal moments of inertia. A general analytical expression has been derived which predicts, correctly in both limits, the angular distributions of the evaporated neutrons and of the fission fragments.  相似文献

We consider backscattering of stationary radiation in a random medium whose wavespeed fluctuations depend on time and on space. We modify a previous derivation of the equations that govern the range-evolution of the spectra of the ensemble-averaged forward-and back-propagating components of the field and their second-order statistics, and extend the approach to treat the fourth-order statistics. The latter are governed by integro-difference equations that account for the broadening of the signal spectra due to the time-dependence of the random fluctuations. In the quasi-monochromatic regime, where spectra owing to a monochromatic excitation remain confined to a narrow band over extensive ranges, the integro-difference equations transform into ordinary differential equations that govern the time-dependence of the quantities of interest. We use this simplification to track the power fluxes and their fluctuations (scintillation) in a one-dimensionally stratified slab, where the wave-speed fluctuations depend on the range-coordinate normal to the planes of stratification, and also to treat modal propagation in a duct, where the wave-speed fluctuations depend on all three spatial dimensions. The results suggest that a Gaussian equilibrium is approached at large ranges, on a suitably defined backscattering scale that depends on the medium parameters and the geometry.  相似文献

为了评估利用发散磁场构型双电层效应的紧凑式螺旋波等离子体推力器的离子加速效果,探索了一种双向偏振态激光诱导荧光测量方法来对螺旋波等离子体源近出口端的离子速度分布函数进行测量。实验中采用Ar作为螺旋波等离子体源工质,中心波长为611.662 nm的激光以轴向方式注入等离子体,以激励一价Ar离子获得波长为461.086 nm的诱导荧光光谱。为了消除磁化等离子体中逆塞曼效应对激光诱导荧光光谱带来的分裂影响,通过四分之一波片将入射激光分别调制为左旋和右旋圆偏振态,并对其诱导光谱进行了分别测量,结果发现不同磁场强度下两次测量结果的偏移值与理论高度吻合,证明了双向偏振态激光诱导荧光测量方法的理论可行性。进一步,采用高斯型滤波器反卷积算法从测量光谱中去除自然展宽和能量饱和效应,再通过对两次相反偏振态测量结果进行平移处理消除逆塞曼效应,从而分离得到实际的多普勒效应。测量了射频能量600 W,不同轴向位置、磁场大小以及气体压力下的螺旋波Ar等离子体激光诱导荧光光谱,结果表明在该实验条件下离子并没有因双电层效应而达到期望值的加速效果,离子速度的形成可能只是一种磁约束作用下的双极电场所导致,并不能产生好的推力性能。  相似文献
