We show that it is possible to generate continuous-wave fields and pulses of polarization squeezed light by sending classical, linearly polarized laser light twice through an atomic sample which causes an optical Faraday rotation of the field polarization. We characterize the performance of the process and we show that an appreciable degree of squeezing can be obtained under realistic physical assumptions.  相似文献

A study is made of the linearized Einstein equations without right-hand side on the background of a flat metric in cylindrical coordinates. General solutions are obtained by an expansion with respect to irreducible representations of the group of cylindrical symmetry. The solutions are investigated with allowance for additional conditions imposed on the physicogeometrical quantities, a monad choice being made of the frame of reference in the Chronometrie and kinemetric gauges.  相似文献

Faraday rotation (FR) measurements performed on single crystals Erbium Iron Garnet (ErIG) at 1.15 μm wavelength are presented in a magnetic field up to 20 kOe applied along the three main crystallographic directions. Spontaneous FR and FR susceptibilities are found to be anisotropic. The results are discussed in terms of electric and magnetic dipole transitions and compared to the magnetic anisotropy. A strong anisotropy of the first order electric dipole coefficient of the Er3+ ion is evidenced at low temperature (below 30 K).  相似文献

A class of self-similar beams, named three-dimensional (3D) spatiotemporal parabolic accessible solitons, are introduced in the 3D highly nonlocal nonlinear media. We obtain exact solutions of the 3D spatiotemporal linear Schrödinger equation in parabolic cylindrical coordinates by using the method of separation of variables. The 3D localized structures are constructed with the help of the confluent hypergeometric Tricomi functions and the Hermite polynomials. Based on such an exact solution, we graphically display three different types of 3D beams: the Gaussian solitons, the ring necklace solitons, and the parabolic solitons, by choosing different mode parameters. We also perform direct numerical simulation to discuss the stability of local solutions. The procedure we follow provides a new method for the manipulation of spatiotemporal solitons.  相似文献
