The intramolecular hydrogen bond, molecular structure and vibrational frequencies of tetra-acetylethane have been investigated by means of high-level density functional theory (DFT) methods with most popular basis sets. Fourier transform infrared and Fourier transform Raman spectra of this compound and its deuterated analogue were recorded in the regions 400-4000 cm(-1) and 40-4000 cm(-1), respectively. The calculated geometrical parameters of tetra-acetylethane were compared to the experimental results of this compound and its parent molecule (acetylacetone), obtained from X-ray diffraction. The O...O distance in tetra-acetylethane, about 2.424A, suggests that the hydrogen bond in this compound is stronger than acetylacetone. This conclusion is well supported by the NMR proton chemical shifts and O-H stretching mode at 2626 cm(-1). Furthermore, the calculated hydrogen bond energy in the title compound is 17.22 kcal/mol, which is greater than the acetylacetone value. On the other hand, the results of theoretical calculations show that the bulky substitution in alpha-position of acetylacetone results in an increase of the conjugation of pi electrons in the chelate ring. Finally, we applied the atoms in molecules (AIM) theory and natural bond orbital method (NBO) for detail analyzing the hydrogen bond in tetra-acetylethane and acetylacetone. These results are in agreement with the vibrational spectra interpretation and quantum chemical calculation results. Also, the conformations of methyl groups with respect to the plane of the molecule and with respect to each other were investigated.  相似文献

The intermolecular hydrogen bonds in dimers of formic acid, acetic acid, and formamide were investigated. Additionally, three configurations of the pyrrole-2-carboxylic acid (PCA) dimer were studied to analyze how the pyrrole pi-electron system influences the carboxylic groups connected by double O-H...O hydrogen bonds. The ab initio calculations for the systems investigated were performed at MP2/6-311++G(d,p), MP2/aug-cc-pVDZ, and MP2/aug-cc-pVTZ//MP2/aug-cc-pVDZ levels of theory. The "atoms in molecules" theory of Bader was used and the analysis of the critical points was performed to study the nature of hydrogen bonds. The decomposition of the total interaction energy applied here reveals that the delocalization energy term is a particularly important attractive contribution in these systems, more important in the case of systems forming homonuclear O-H...O double hydrogen bonds than in the case of those connected through heteronuclear N-H...O bonds. Because the systems analyzed may be formally classified as the resonance-assisted hydrogen bonds (RAHBs), it seems that the dominant contribution from the delocalization interaction energy term is a distinguished feature of such interactions.  相似文献

The crystal and molecular structure of pyrrole-2-carboxamide (PyCa) determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction is presented. Molecular conformations of PyCa are also analyzed by FT-IR and NMR techniques. Additionally DFT calculations at the B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) level of approximation are performed for dimers of PyCa and for related species. The existence of two tautomeric forms for the analyzed dimers differing in H-bond motifs, N-H...O or O-H...N, is studied. The geometrical and energetic features of such H-bonds show that these interactions may be classified as intermolecular resonance-assisted hydrogen bonds. Additionally the Bader theory is applied to determine and to analyze bond critical points.  相似文献

Low-temperature, high-resolution X-ray studies of charge distributions in the three Schiff bases, the dianil of 2-hydroxy-5-methylisophthaldehyde, 3,5-dinitro-N-salicylidenoethylamine and 3-nitro-N-salicylidenocyclohexylamine, have been carried out. These structures exhibit interesting weak interactions, including two extreme cases of intramolecular hydrogen bonds that are ionic N(+)-H...O- and neutral O-H...N in nature. These two types of hydrogen bond reflect differences in geometrical parameters and electron density distribution. At the level of geometry, the neutral O-H...N hydrogen bond is accompanied by an increase in the length of the C(1)-O(1) bond, opening of the ipso-C(1) angle, elongation of the aromatic C-C bonds, shortening of the C(7)-N(2) bond and increased length of the C(1)-C(7) bond, relative to the ionic hydrogen bond type. According to the geometrical and critical point parameters, the neutral O-H...N hydrogen bond seems to be stronger than the ionic ones. There are also differences between charge density parameters of the aromatic rings consistent with the neutral hydrogen bond being stronger than the ionic ones, with a concomitant reduction in the aromaticity of the ring. Compounds with the ionic hydrogen bonds show a larger double-bond character in the C-O bond than appears in the compound containing a neutral hydrogen bond; this suggests that the electronic structure of the former pair of compounds includes a contribution from a zwitterionic canonical form. Furthermore, in the case of ionic hydrogen bonds, the corresponding interaction lines appear to be curved in the vicinity of the hydrogen atoms. In the 3-nitro-N-salicylidenocyclohexylamine crystal there exists, in addition to the intramolecular hydrogen bond, a pair of intermolecular O...H interactions in a centrosymmetric dimer unit.  相似文献

The OH chemical shift of the enol form of nitromalonamide is found at 18.9 ppm both in DMSO-d(6) and in DMF-d(7) indicating a very strong hydrogen bond. The OH chemical shift is insensitive to temperature changes. Contrary to the large OH chemical shift, a small two-bond deuterium isotope effect of 0.135 ppm due to deuteration at the OH position is found at the enolic carbon. This is confirmed by density functional theory calculations. The observed effects are interpreted as due to an equilibrium between identical enolic forms. These show a strong OH...O hydrogen bond as well as a NH...O-N=O hydrogen bond.  相似文献

Tautomerism in aromatic systems with oxygen substitutents is rare. This is investigated in 2-acetyl-1,8-dihydroxy-3,6-dimethylnaphthalene (1) and in 2,7-diacetyl-1,8-dihydroxy-3,6-dimethylnaphthalene (2). The tautomeric nature of 2-acetyl-1,8-dihydroxy-3,6-dimethylnaphthalene is supported by long-range hydrogen-hydrogen coupling between the OH-1 and the OH-8 and by the isotope effects on 13C caused by deuteration at the CH3C==O methyl group. Compound 2 participates in a degenerate equilibrium between two equivalent nonsymmetrical rotamers (2A and 2B), each having two intramolecular O...HO hydrogen bonds: one involving an acetyl oxygen and the neighboring hydroxyl group, and the other between the oxygen centers at positions 1 and 8. In addition, each rotamer is involved in a tautomeric equilibrium, with a structure having an OH-substituted exocyclic double bond (2AT or 2BT).DFT calculations for a large set of compounds highlight the factors controlling the unusual rotational and tautomeric behaviors. A very important factor seems to be the repulsive interaction between the O-1 and O-8 centers, which is modulated by formation of an OH-1...O-8 or OH-8...O1 hydrogen bond. Steric interactions, mesomeric release of electrons from the oxygen at position 8, and a strong OH...O...C hydrogen bond are other factors.Solid-state 13C NMR spectra of 2,7-diacetyl-1,8-dihydroxy-3,6-dimethylnaphthalene at different temperatures demonstrated no averaging in the solid, whereas partially deuterated 2-acetyl-1,8-dihydroxy-3,6-dimethylnaphthalene showed an isotope effect at C-1 of 1.5 ppm, indicating tautomerism in the solid state.  相似文献

Very short C-H...O, N-H...O, and O-H...O hydrogen bonds have been generated utilizing the cyclic phosphate [CH2(6-t-Bu-4-Me-C6H2O)2]P(O)OH (1). X-ray structures of (i) 1 (unsolvated, two polymorphs), 1...EtOH, and 1...MeOH, (ii) [imidazolium](+)[CH2(6-t-Bu-4-Me-C6H2O)2PO2](-)...MeOH [2], (iii) [HNC5H4-N=N-C5H4NH](2+)[(CH2(6-t-Bu-4-Me-C6H2O)2PO2)2](2-)...4CH3CN...H2O [3], (v) [K, 18-crown-6](+)[(CH2(6-t-Bu-4-Me-C6H2O)2P(O)OH)(CH2(6-t-Bu-4-Me-C6H2O)2PO2)](-)...2THF [4], (vi) 1...cytosine...MeOH [5], (vii) 1...adenine...1/2MeOH [6], and (viii) 1...S-(-)-proline [7] have been determined. The phosphate 1 in both its forms is a hydrogen-bonded dimer with a short O-H...O distance of 2.481(2) [triclinic form] or 2.507(3) A [monoclinic form]. Compound 2 has a helical structure with a very short C-H...O hydrogen bond involving an imidazolyl C-H and methanol in addition to N-H...O hydrogen bonds. A helical motif is also seen in 5. In 3, an extremely short N-H...O hydrogen bond [N...O 2.558(4) A] is observed. Compounds 6 and 7 also exhibit short N-H...O hydrogen bonds. In 1...EtOH, a 12-membered hydrogen-bonded ring motif, with one of the shortest known O-H...O hydrogen bonds [O...O 2.368(4) A], is present. 1...MeOH is a similar dimer with a very short O(-H)...O bond [2.429(3) A]. In 4, the deprotonated phosphate (anion) and the parent acid are held together by a hydrogen bond on one side and a coordinate/covalent bond to potassium on the other; the O-H...O bond is symmetrical and very strong [O...O 2.397(3) A].  相似文献

X-ray crystal structures of pyrazinic acid 1 and isomeric methylpyrazine carboxylic acids 2-4 are analyzed to examine the occurrence of carboxylic acid-pyridine supramolecular synthon V in these heterocyclic acids. Synthon V, assembled by (carboxyl)O-H...N(pyridine) and (pyridine)C-H...O(carbonyl) hydrogen bonds, controls self-assembly in the crystal structures of pyridine and pyrazine monocarboxylic acids. The recurrence of acid-pyridine heterodimer V compared to the more common acid-acid homodimer I in the crystal structures of pyridine and pyrazine monocarboxylic acids is explained by energy computations in the RHF 6-31G* basis set. Both the O-H.N and the C-H...O hydrogen bonds in synthon V result from activated acidic donor and basic acceptor atoms in 1-4. Pyrazine 2,3- and 2,5-dicarboxylic acids 10 and 11 crystallize as dihydrates with a (carboxyl)O-H...O(water) hydrogen bond in synthon VII, a recurring pattern in the diacid structures. In summary, the carboxylic acid group forms an O-H...N hydrogen bond in pyrazine monocarboxylic acids and an O-H...O hydrogen bond in pyrazine dicarboxylic acids. This structural analysis correlates molecular features with supramolecular synthons in pyridine and pyrazine carboxylic acids for future crystal engineering strategies.  相似文献

Molecular and vibrational structure of 1,1,1,6,6,6-hexafluoropentane-2,4-dione (hexafluoro-acetylacetone) have been investigated by means of density functional theory (DFT) calculations and have been compared with those of acetylacetone, the parent molecule. According to the theoretical calculations HFAA has an asymmetric structure with hydrogen bond strength of about 12 kcal mol(-1), about 6 kcal mol(-1) less than that of acetylacetone. This weakening of hydrogen bond is consistent with frequency shifts for OH/OD stretching, OH/OD out of plane bending and O...O stretching modes upon substitution of methyl hydrogen atoms with fluorine atoms. The symmetric structure based on electron diffraction data is interpreted as superposition of two asymmetric structures.  相似文献

Different types of intramolecular H...H interactions have been analyzed using the MP2/6-311++G(d,p) level of approximation. These are C-H...H-B, C-H...H-Al, C-H...H-C, C-H...H-O, O-H...H-Al and O-H...H-B contacts. Quantum theory of atoms in molecules and natural bond orbitals methods were applied to better understand the nature of these interactions. It was found that some of the species analyzed possess the characteristics of typical hydrogen bonds, such as the O-H...O ones. The electron charge transfer from the Lewis base to the antibonding X-H (for example O-H) orbital of the Lewis acid is one such characteristic. The NBO method may be considered decisive to classify any system as dihydrogen bonded.  相似文献

The H(2)CO...(HF)(n) (n = 1, ..., 9) complexes were investigated using the MP2 method and the following basis sets: 6-311++G(d,p), aug-cc-pVDZ and aug-cc-pVTZ. It was found that the cooperativity effect enhances significantly the F-H...O hydrogen bond; in some of cases one can detect the covalent nature of hydrogen bonding. To deepen the nature of the interactions investigated, the scheme of decomposition of the interaction energy was applied; for stronger H-bonds where the cooperativity is more important, the delocalization energy term increases. The ratio of delocalization energy to electrostatic energy increases for stronger hydrogen bonds where the proton...acceptor distance is shorter. The Bader theory was also applied, and it was found that for stronger H-bonds the electronic energy density at the proton...acceptor bond critical point is negative and may be attributed to the partly covalent interaction.  相似文献

The binary complexes of water with styrene and fluorostyrene were investigated using LIF and FDIR spectroscopic techniques. The difference in the shifts of S 1 <-- S 0 electronic transitions clearly points out the disparity in the intermolecular structures of these two binary complexes. The FDIR spectra in the O-H stretching region indicate that water is a hydrogen bond donor in both complexes. The formation of a single O-H...pi hydrogen-bonded complex with styrene and an in-plane complex with fluorostyrene was inferred based on the analysis of the FDIR spectra in combination with ab initio calculations. The in-plane complex with fluorostyrene is characterized by the presence of O-H...F and C-H...O hydrogen bonds, leading to formation of a stable six-membered ring. The synergistic effect of O-H...F and C-H...O hydrogen bonds overwhelms the O-H...pi interaction in fluorostyrene-water complexes.  相似文献

The structure and the hydrogen bonding in the systems formed by the intramolecularly H-bonded systems, namely, maltol (3-hydroxy-2-methyl-4-pyrone), 5, 2,4,6-trinitrophenol, 6, acetylacetone enol, 7, with Lewis bases, phosgene, 8, dioxane, 9, and DMSO, 10, have been studied by density functional theory (B3LYP) and MP2 using the 6-311G* basis set. The continuum solvent effect was simulated by IEF-PCM model. The hydrogen bond analysis using the atoms in molecules (AIM) method was applied by using the MP2(full)/6-311++G** electron density to establish the nature of the bifurcate hydrogen bond (BHB) in these systems as well as contributory factors for its stabilization. The nature of interaction in the intermolecular H-complexes formed by compounds 5- 7 with the Lewis bases 8- 10 was shown to depend on the strength of the intramolecular hydrogen bond O...H and the strength of the base. The critical values of the CO...H and NO...H angles for which the formation of BHB is possible, have been determined.  相似文献

The complex H2SO4-H2O has been observed by rotational spectroscopy in a supersonic jet. A-type spectra for 18 isotopic forms have been analyzed, and the vibrationally averaged structure of the system has been determined. The complex forms a distorted, six-membered ring with the water unit acting as both a hydrogen bond donor and a hydrogen bond acceptor toward the sulfuric acid. One of the H2SO4 protons forms a short, direct hydrogen bond to the water oxygen, with an H...O distance of 1.645(5) A and an O-H...O angle of 165.2(4) degrees. Additionally, the orientation of the water suggests a weaker, secondary hydrogen bond between one of the H2O hydrogens and a nearby S=O oxygen on the sulfuric acid, with an O...H distance of 2.05(1) A and an O-H...O angle of 130.3(5) degrees. The experimentally determined structure is in excellent agreement with previously published DFT studies. Experiments with HOD in the jet reveal the formation of only isotopomers involving deuterium in the secondary hydrogen bond, providing direct experimental evidence for the secondary H...O interaction. Extensive isotopic substitution has also permitted a re-determination of the structure of the H2SO4 unit within the complex. The hydrogen-bonding OH bond of the sulfuric acid elongates by 0.07(2) A relative to that in free H2SO4, and the S=O bond involved in the secondary interaction stretches by 0.04(1) A. These changes reflect substantial distortion of the H2SO4 moiety in response to only a single water molecule, and prior to the proton transfer event. Spectral data indicate that the complex undergoes at least one, and probably more than one type of internal motion. Although the sulfuric acid in this work was produced from direct reaction of SO3 and water in the jet, experiments with H2(18)O indicate that about 2-3% of the acid is formed via processes not normally associated with the gas-phase hydration of SO3.  相似文献

TOF-SIMS is used to investigate the interactions between D2O and hydrophobic molecules, such as CH4, CH3F, CH2F2, CHF3, and CF4, at cryogenic temperatures (15 K). By irradiation with a 1.5-keV He+ beam, the D(+)(D2O)n ions are ejected efficiently from the D2O nanoclusters physisorbed on the CF4 layer due to Coulomb explosion: the ion yields are by about two orders of magnitude higher than those from a thick D2O layer via the kinetic sputtering. The D(+)(D2O)n yields decrease on the CHnF(4-n) layer with increasing the number of the C-H group. This is because the Coulombic fission is quenched due to the delocalization of valence holes through the C-H...H-C and C-H...D2O contacts. A pure D2O film is hardly grown on the CH4 layer as a consequence of intermixing whereas the D2O molecules basically adsorb on the surfaces of fluoromethanes, suggesting the attractive (water-repellent) interactions in the C-H...D2O (C-F...D2O) contacts. The C-H...O bond behaves like a conventional O-H...O hydrogen bond as far as the collision-induced proton transfer reaction is concerned.  相似文献

The complexes of glyoxal (Gly), methylglyoxal (MGly), and diacetyl (DAc) with water have been studied using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) matrix isolation spectroscopy and MP2 calculations with 6-311++G(2d,2p) basis set. The analysis of the experimental spectra of the Gly(MGly,DAc)/H2O/Ar matrixes indicates formation of one Gly...H2O complex, three MGly...H2O complexes, and two DAc...H2O ones. All the complexes are stabilized by the O-H...O(C) hydrogen bond between the water molecule and carbonyl oxygen as evidenced by the strong perturbation of the O-H, C=O stretching vibrations. The blue shift of the CH stretching vibration in the Gly...H2O complex and in two MGly...H2O ones suggests that these complexes are additionally stabilized by the improper C-H...O(H2) hydrogen bonding. The theoretical calculations confirm the experimental findings. They evidence the stability of three hydrogen-bonded Gly...H2O and DAc...H2O complexes and six MGly...H2O ones stabilized by the O-H...O(C) hydrogen bond. The calculated vibrational frequencies and geometrical parameters indicate that one DAc..H2O complexes, two Gly...H2O, and three MGly...H2O ones are additionally stabilized by the improper hydrogen bonding between the C-H group and water oxygen. The comparison of the theoretical frequencies with the experimental ones allowed us to attribute the calculated structures to the complexes present in the matrixes.  相似文献

The N-H...O hydrogen bonds are analyzed for formamide dimer and its simple fluorine derivatives representing a wide spectrum of more or less covalent interactions. The calculations were performed at the MP2/6-311++G(d,p) level of approximation. To explain the nature of such interactions, the Bader theory was also applied, and the characteristics of the bond critical points (BCPs) were analyzed: the electron density at BCP and its Laplacian, the electron energy density at BCP and its components, the potential electron energy density, and the kinetic electron energy density. These parameters are used to justify the statement that some of the interactions analyzed are partly covalent in nature. An analysis of the interaction energy components for the systems considered indicates that the covalent character of the hydrogen bond is manifested by a markedly increased contribution of the delocalization term relative to the electrostatic interaction energy. Moreover, the ratio of stabilizing the delocalization/electrostatic contributions grows linearly with the decreasing lengths of the hydrogen bond.  相似文献

Single crystal neutron diffraction data have been collected on a sample of enolized 3,4-diacetyl-2,5-hexanedione (tetraacetylethane, TAE) at five temperatures between 20 and 298 K to characterize the temperature-dependent behavior of the short, strong, intramolecular hydrogen bond. Upon decreasing the temperature from 298 K to 20 K, the O2-H1 distance decreases from 1.171(11) to 1.081(2) A and the O1...H1 distance increases from 1.327(10) to 1.416(6) A. The convergence of the C-O bond lengths from inequivalent distances at low temperature to identical values (1.285(4) A) at 298 K is consistent with a resonance-assisted hydrogen bond. However, a rigid bond analysis indicates that the structure at 298 K is disordered. The disorder vanishes at lower temperatures. Short intermolecular C-H...O contacts may be responsible for the ordering at low temperature. The intramolecular O...O distance (2.432 +/- 0.006 A) does not change with temperature. X-ray data at 20 K were measured to analyze the charge density and to gain additional insight into the nature of the strong hydrogen bond. Quantum mechanical calculations demonstrate that periodic boundary conditions provide significant enhancement over gas phase models in that superior agreement with the experimental structure is achieved when applying periodicity. One-dimensional potential energy calculations followed by quantum treatment of the proton reproduce the location of the proton nearer to the O2 site reasonably well, although they overestimate the O-H distance at low temperatures. The choice of the single-point energy calculation strategy for the proton potential is justified by the fact that the proton is preferably located nearer to O2 rather than being equally distant to O1 and O2 or evenly distributed (disordered) between them.  相似文献

The tautomeric properties of alpha-chlorinated acetylacetone, 3-chloro-2,4-pentanedione CH3C(O)-CHCl-C(O)CH3, have been investigated by gas electron diffraction (GED) and quantum chemical calculations (B3LYP and MP2 approximations with different basis sets up to cc-pVTZ). Analysis of the GED intensities resulted in the presence of 100(2)% enol tautomer at 269(8) K. The following skeletal geometric parameters (rh1 values) of the molecule, which possesses Cs symmetry, were derived: r(C=C) = 1.378(3) A, r(C-C) = 1.450(3) A, r(C=O) = 1.243(3) A, r(C-O) = 1.319(3) A, r(O-H) = 1.001(4) A, r(C-Cl) = 1.752(4) A, angleC-C=C = 121.3(1.0) degrees , angleC=C-O = 119.9(1.2) degrees , angleC-C=O = 119.1(1.2) degrees . Due to very small contributions of the keto tautomer in alpha-chlorinated acetylacetone and its parent species, the effect of alpha-chlorination on tautomeric properties cannot be derived from experimental data. Quantum chemical calculations (B3LYP/6-31G**, B3LYP/cc-pVTZ, and MP2/cc-pVTZ) predict that alpha-chlorination of acetylacetone has no pronounced effect on the tautomeric properties. On the other hand, similar calculations for 1-chloro-1,3-butanedion, ClC(O)-CH2-C(O)CH3, demonstrate that chlorination in one beta position destabilizes the enol tautomer. In both chlorinated species the enol form is strongly preferred.  相似文献

The cooperativity between the O-H...O and C-H...O hydrogen bonds has been studied by quantum chemical calculations at the MP2/6-311++G(d,p) level in gaseous phase and at the B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) level in solution. The interaction energies of the O-H...O and C-H...O H-bonds are increased by 53 and 58%, respectively, demonstrating that there is a large cooperativity. Analysis of hydrogen-bonding lengths, OH bond lengths, and OH stretching frequencies also supports such a conclusion. By NBO analysis, it is found that orbital interaction plays a great role in enhancing their cooperativity. The strength increase of the C-H...O H-bond is larger than that of the O-H...O H-bond due to the cooperativity. The solvent has a weakening effect on the cooperativity.  相似文献
