The representative examples of beneficial effects of hydrophilic groups in aqueous organic reactions are described, including the Diels-Alder reactions, hetero Diels-Alder reactions, Claisen rearrangement, radical reactions, and transition metal-catalyzed reactions. Although the low solubility of organic molecules in water has been a bane in aqueous organic reactions, the incorporation of hydrophilic groups into the substrate structure can overcome the solubility problem and at the same time enhance the hydrophobic effect. In some cases, interesting micellar effects are observed because of the amphiphilic natures of such molecules. The emerging concept of "removable hydrophilic group," in which the solubility problems have been alleviated, yet the initial product can still be transformed into a variety of products with the removal of the hydrophilic groups, is also described.  相似文献

The host-guest stability constants for the inclusion of a series of small neutral polar organic guests in cucurbit[7]uril (CB[7]) have been determined in aqueous solution by (1)H NMR titrations. The dependence of the stability constant on the nature of the guests indicates that hydrophobic and dipole-quadrupole interactions are responsible for the binding. The complexation-induced chemical shift changes in the guest proton resonances, coupled with energy-minimization calculations, suggest that the guests are located such that their dipole moment is aligned perpendicular with the quadrupole moment of the CB[7] host. The stability constants for acetone and acetophenone decrease in the presence of Na(+) or K(+) cations as a result of cation capping of the CB[7] portals.  相似文献

The temperature dependence of limiting apparent molal volumes ° in water for some alcohols (methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol, 2-butanol, 3-pentanol, 3-hexanol, 2,5-hexanediol, cyclopentanol, cyclohexanol, cycloheptanol, and 1,4-cyclohexanediol) and ethers (trimethylene oxide, tetrahydrofuran, tetrahydropyran, 1,3-dioxolane, 1,3-dioxane, 1,4-dioxane, 1,3-dioxepane, 1,3,5-trioxane, dimethoxymethane, 1,2-dimethoxyethane, diethoxymethane, and diethyl ether) has been studied in the temperature range 10–50°C by means of an automatic digital-readout dilatometer. Values of the thermal expansion coefficient * = (1/°)(°/T)p have been obtained at several temperatures and discussed together with literature data on expansibilities of related compounds. The data show a wide spectrum of values of * at low temperatures which is narrowed at the higher ones. The expansibilities of monofunctional alcohols increase with increasing temperature; the opposite effect is observed for polyhydric alcohols. The *'s of ethers are very slightly temperature dependent and are much higher, at low temperature, than those of alcohols having the same ratio ofn o/nc. These results are discussed in terms of solutewater interactions, and a possible interpretation is put forward.  相似文献

Very good separations of non-ionic organic compounds have been achieved by capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) using a tetrahep-tylammonium salt as an additive in aqueous acetonitrile as solvent. A systematic study was undertaken to determine the effect of experimental parameters on electroosmotic mobility and electro-phoretic mobility. It was found that pH, acetonitrile concentration, and the type and concentration of quaternary ammonium salt are important experimental variables. Under appropriate conditions, the separation window was enlarged and a broad range of electrically neutral organics, including very hydrophobic compounds (e. g. poly-cyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) and fairly hydrophilic compounds were separated in a relatively short time. By adjusting the separation conditions, high resolution CZE of a specific group of neutral organic compounds could be achieved. A method for calculation of capacity factor was proposed and capacity factors for a variety of non-lonic organic compounds were calculated.  相似文献

Graphite-supported platinum catalysts (Pt/G) were highly active for the hydrogenolysis of benzofuran to o-ethylphenol in aqueous ethanol solution at 523 K without using any external hydrogen gas. The hydrogenolysis activities and selectivity to o-ethylphenol in ethanol solution over Pt/G were higher than those with a conventional method using externally supplied hydrogen gas. Both water and ethanol were indispensable for the hydrogenolysis in aqueous ethanol solution at 523 K.  相似文献

A new indole-based fluorescent chemosensor 1 was prepared and its metal ion sensing properties were investigated. It exhibits high sensitivity and selectivity toward Hg2+ among a series of metal ions in H2O-EtOH (7:1, v/v). The association constant of the 1:1 complex formation for 1-Hg2+ was calculated to be 9.57 × 103 M−1, and the detection limit for Hg2+ was found to be 2.25 × 10−5 M. Computational results revealed that 1 and Hg2+ ion formed with a central tetrahedron-coordinated Hg2+.  相似文献

The 15 most widespread adsorption isotherm equations are applied for describing recently published paracetamol adsorption data from aqueous solutions (pH 7). Twelve adsorption isotherms, measured at 300, 310, and 320 K, on the series of chemically modified carbons D43/1 (Carbo-Tech, Essen, Germany) differing in surface properties (from basic to strongly acidic) but possessing almost the same porosity, are analyzed. The results of fitting theoretical models to experimental data are arranged according to a decrease in the average value of the determination coefficient. From the models studied the best fit is obtained for Weber-Vliet, Dubinin-Astakhov, and the model published by Jossens. The most important conclusion is that at the lowest temperature studied, where the effect of carbon surface composition on adsorption properties is the most strongly marked, the value of paracetamol maximal adsorption decreases as the amount of surface basic groups and carbonyls increases.  相似文献

We synthesized a simple fluorescent receptor 3 bearing two boronic acid groups as recognition sites. The recognition behaviour of receptor 3 towards various anions was evaluated in THF/H(2)O (1:1, v/v) solution. Receptor 3 showed high selectivity for iodide among a series of anions. Fluorescence spectroscopy and computational calculations revealed that the electrostatic interaction played a crucial role in its high selectivity for iodide.  相似文献

A potentiometric method using a glass electrode has been applied to determination of apparent ionization constants for water in binary mixtures of water with tetrahydrofuran, methanol, 1,3-propanediol, glycerol, sucrose, and glucose at 25°C. Further calculations with these apparent ionization constants, which are now based explicitly on the previously implicit assumption that ionization of the organic component is negligible compared to ionization of water, permit evaluation of ionization constants for several very weak acids in purely aqueous solvent. Resulting pK values derived from this work and from our earlier work are as follows: glucose (12.38), sucrose (12.75 and 12.80), glycerol (14.05 and 14.07), ethylene glycol (14.44 and 14.52), methanol (15.2), 1,3-propanediol (14.8 and 15.0), 1-propanol (15.1), 2-propanol (15.7), and 2-methyl-2-propanol (15.0).  相似文献

The spherical harmonic model (SHM), previously used for the analysis of the terminal nu(CO) vibrations of transition metal carbonyl clusters, is applied to the corresponding bridging CO modes. The model is applicable, although the spectra show a greater sensitivity to the molecular geometry than is the case for their terminal counterparts. The reasons for this sensitivity are discussed. When both micro(2) and micro(3) CO groups are present in a molecule, a spectral distinction may not be apparent.  相似文献

A highly selective switch for d-fructose was formed by water-soluble conjugated polymer PP-S-BINOL and tetraboronic acid functionalized benzyl viologen ToBV. The two-component system showed a high selectivity and sensitivity only for d-fructose in familiar d-monosaccharides. The high selectivity of the sensing system for d-fructose may be depended on stable pyranose ester form of d-fructose with ToBV. A desirable linear response of the sensing system to low concentrations of d-fructose (<10.0 mM) was observed with 0.9936 linear dependent coefficient at pH 7.4.  相似文献

Ionization constants of some phenols and anilines in aqueous solution with a ionic strength of 0.01 were measured at 25°C by spectrophotometric method. The paper presents the electrochemical investigation of mixed oxide YBaCo4O7 in alkaline aqueous solution during oxygen insertion/release. The electrochemical behaviour of YBaCo4O7 has been studied by cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. In correlation with these techniques, the compound morphology was determined by scanning electron microscopy. Based on the results obtained, the electrochemical processes occurring at the interface mixed oxide (YBaCo4O7)/electrolyte solution have been identified, and furthermore a mechanism of YBaCo4O7 oxidation/reduction in alkaline aqueous solutions has been proposed.  相似文献

We investigate the response dynamics of 1-hexanethiol-functionalized gold nanoparticle chemiresistors exposed to the analyte octane in aqueous solution. The dynamic response is studied as a function of the analyte-water flow velocity, the thickness of the gold nanoparticle film and the analyte concentration. A theoretical model for analyte limited mass-transport is used to model the analyte diffusion into the film, the partitioning of the analyte into the 1-hexanethiol capping layers and the subsequent swelling of the film. The degree of swelling is then used to calculate the increase of the electron tunnel resistance between adjacent nanoparticles which determines the resistance change of the film. In particular, the effect of the nonlinear relationship between resistance and swelling on the dynamic response is investigated at high analyte concentration. Good agreement between experiment and the theoretical model is achieved.  相似文献
