Aluminium‐based metal–organic framework (MOF) coatings on polystyrene bead surfaces were easily synthesized by reacting an intermediate metal hydroxide coating with an organic linker. Several different sizes of polystyrene beads were coated with aluminium metal hydroxide to construct Al@PS core–shell bead materials. The activated Al@PS core–shell beads were involved to make a homogenous MOF‐based layer in the presence of the organic linker. By using different sizes of the PS support the size of MOFs on the PS composites could be fine‐tuned under specific reaction conditions. MOF‐coated core–shell bead materials (Al‐1,4‐NDC@PS and MIL‐53(Al)@PS) were characterized using various analytical techniques. Al‐1,4‐NDC@PS and MIL‐53(Al)@PS were evaluated for solid‐phase microextraction (SPME) of hydrophobic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and hydrophilic non‐steroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), respectively. Al‐1,4‐NDC@PS‐1000 displayed high extraction recoveries ranging from 79.2 % to 99.8 % in the SPME of PAHs. Meanwhile, MIL‐53(Al)@PS‐1000 showed 85.9–99.0 % extraction recoveries in the SPME of NSAIDs. These results show that the proposed approach holds potential to extract organic analytes on an industrial scale.  相似文献

The structural, compositional, and morphological features of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) govern their properties and applications. Construction of hybrid MOFs with complicated structures, components, or morphologies is significant for the development of well‐organized MOFs. An advanced route is reported for construction of atypical hybrid MOFs with unique morphologies and complicated components: 1) MOF‐on‐MOF growth of a 3D zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF) on a ZIF‐L template, 2) etching of a part of the 2D ZIF‐L template, and 3) structural transformation of 2D ZIF‐L into 3D ZIF. The formation of core–shell‐type MOF rings and plates is controlled by regulating the three processes. The formation route for the core–shell‐type MOF rings and plates was monitored by tracking changes in morphology, structure, and composition. Carbon materials prepared from the pyrolysis of the core–shell‐type hybrid MOFs displayed enhanced oxygen reduction reaction activities compared to their monomeric counterparts.  相似文献

Amorphous metal–organic frameworks (aMOFs) are an emerging family of attractive materials with great application potential, however aMOFs are usually prepared under harsh conditions and aMOFs with complex compositions and structures are rarely reported. In this work, an aMOF‐dominated nanocomposite (aMOF‐NC) with both structural and compositional complexity has been synthesized using a facile approach. A ligand‐competition amorphization mechanism is proposed based on experimental and density functional theory calculation results. The aMOF‐NC possesses a core–shell nanorod@nanosheet architecture, including a Fe‐rich Fe‐Co‐aMOF core and a Co‐rich Fe‐Co‐aMOF shell in the core–shell structured nanorod, and amorphous Co(OH)2 nanosheets as the outer layer. Benefiting from the structural and compositional heterogeneity, the aMOF‐NC demonstrates an excellent oxygen evolution reaction activity with a low overpotential of 249 mV at 10.0 mA cm?2 and Tafel slope of 39.5 mV dec?1.  相似文献

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are promising high surface area coordination polymers with tunable pore structures and functionality; however, a lack of good size and morphological control over the as‐prepared MOFs has persisted as an issue in their application. Herein, we show how a robust protein template, tobacco mosaic virus (TMV), can be used to regulate the size and shape of as‐fabricated MOF materials. We were able to obtain discrete rod‐shaped TMV@MOF core–shell hybrids with good uniformity, and their diameters could be tuned by adjusting the synthetic conditions, which can also significantly impact the stability of the core–shell composite. More interestingly, the virus particle underneath the MOF shell can be chemically modified using a standard bioconjugation reaction, showing mass transportation within the MOF shell.  相似文献

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have demonstrated great potentials in a variety of important applications. To enhance the inherent properties and endow materials with multifunctionality, the rational design and synthesis of MOFs with nanoscale porosity and hollow feature is highly desired and remains a great challenge. In this work, the formation of a series of well‐defined MOF (MOF‐5, FeII‐MOF‐5, FeIII‐MOF‐5) hollow nanocages by a facile solvothermal method, without any additional supporting template is reported. A surface‐energy‐driven mechanism may be responsible for the formation of hollow nanocages. The addition of pre‐synthesized poly(vinylpyrrolidone)‐ (PVP) capped noble‐metal nanoparticles into the synthetic system of MOF hollow nanocages yields the yolk–shell noble metal@MOF nanostructures. The present strategy to fabricate hollow and yolk–shell nanostructures is expected to open up exciting opportunities for developing a novel class of inorganic–organic hybrid functional nanomaterials.  相似文献

Surfactant‐free tiny Pt clusters were successfully encapsulated within MOFs with controllable size and spatial distribution by a novel kinetically modulated one‐step strategy. Our synthesis relies on the rational manipulation of the reduction rate of Pt ions and/or the growth rate of MOFs by using H2 as assistant reducing agent and/or acetic acid as MOF‐formation modulator. The as‐prepared Pt@MOF core–shell composites exhibited exceedingly high activity and excellent selectivity in the oxidation of alcohols as a result of the ultrafine “clean” Pt clusters, as well as interesting molecular‐sieving effects derived from the outer platinum‐free MOF shell.  相似文献

Hybridization of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) and polymers into composites yields materials that display the exceptional properties of MOFs with the robustness of polymers. However, the realization of MOF–polymer composites requires efficient dispersion and interactions of MOF particles with polymer matrices, which remains a significant challenge. Herein, we report a simple, scalable, bench‐top approach to covalently tethered nylon–MOF polymer composite materials through an interfacial polymerization technique. The copolymerization of a modified UiO‐66‐NH2 MOF with a growing polyamide fiber (PA‐66) during an interfacial polymerization gave hybrid materials with up to around 29 weight percent MOF. The covalent hybrid material demonstrated nearly an order of magnitude higher catalytic activity for the breakdown of a chemical warfare simulant (dimethyl‐4‐nitrophenyl phosphate, DMNP) compared to MOFs that are non‐covalently, physically entrapped in nylon, thus highlighting the importance of MOF–polymer hybridization.  相似文献

A new approach to the synthesis of hierarchical micro‐ and mesoporous MOFs from microporous MOFs involves a simple hydrolytic post‐synthetic procedure. As a proof of concept, a new microporous MOF, POST‐66(Y), was synthesized and its transformation into a hierarchical micro‐ and mesoporous MOF by water treatment was studied. This method produced mesopores in the range of 3 to 20 nm in the MOF while maintaining the original microporous structure, at least in part. The degree of micro‐ and mesoporosity can be controlled by adjusting the time and temperature of hydrolysis. The resulting hierarchical porous MOF, POST‐66(Y)‐wt, can be utilized to encapsulate nanometer‐sized guests such as proteins, and the enhanced stability and recyclability of an encapsulated enzyme is demonstrated.  相似文献

Hierarchically porous metal–organic frameworks (HP‐MOFs) have attracted great attention owing to their advantages over microporous MOFs in some applications. Despite many attempts, the development of a facile approach to generate HP‐MOFs remains a challenge. Herein we develop a new strategy, namely the modulation of cation valence, to create hierarchical porosity in MOFs. Some of the CuII metal nodes in MOFs can be transformed into CuI via reducing vapor treatment (RVT), which partially changes the coordination mode and thus breaks coordination bonds, resulting in the formation of HP‐MOF based on the original microporous MOF. Both the experimental results and the first‐principles calculation show that it is easy to tailor the amount of CuI and subsequent hierarchical porosity by tuning the RVT duration. It is found that the resultant HP‐MOFs perform much better in the capture of aromatic sulfides than the original microporous MOF.  相似文献

Multi‐component MOFs contain multiple sets of unique and hierarchical pores, with different functions for different applications, distributed in their inter‐linked domains. Herein, we report the construction of a class of precisely aligned flexible‐on‐rigid hybrid‐phase MOFs with a unique rods‐on‐octahedron morphology. We demonstrated that hybrid‐phase MOFs can be constructed based on two prerequisites: the partially matched topology at the interface of the two frameworks, and the structural flexibility of MOFs with acs topology, which can compensate for the differences in lattice parameters. Furthermore, we achieved domain selective loading of multiple guest molecules into the hybrid‐phase MOF, as observed by scanning transmission electron microscopy–energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectrometry elemental mapping. Most importantly, we successfully applied the constructed hybrid‐phase MOF to develop a dual‐drug delivery system with controllable loading ratio and release kinetics.  相似文献

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) feature a great possibility for a broad spectrum of applications. Hollow MOF structures with tunable porosity and multifunctionality at the nanoscale with beneficial properties are desired as hosts for catalytically active species. Herein, we demonstrate the formation of well‐defined hollow Zn/Co‐based zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) by use of epitaxial growth of Zn‐MOF (ZIF‐8) on preformed Co‐MOF (ZIF‐67) nanocrystals that involve in situ self‐sacrifice/excavation of the Co‐MOF. Moreover, any type of metal nanoparticles can be accommodated in Zn/Co‐ZIF shells to generate yolk–shell metal@ZIF structures. Transmission electron microscopy and tomography studies revealed the inclusion of these nanoparticles within hollow Zn/Co‐ZIF with dominance of the Zn‐MOF as shell. Our findings lead to a generalization of such hollow systems that are working effectively to other types of ZIFs.  相似文献

Fabrication of hybrid MOF‐on‐MOF heteroarchitectures can create novel and multifunctional platforms to achieve desired properties. However, only MOFs with similar crystallographic parameters can be hybridized by the classical epitaxial growth method (EGM), which largely suppressed its applications. A general strategy, called internal extended growth method (IEGM), is demonstrated for the feasible assembly of MOFs with distinct crystallographic parameters in an MOF matrix. Various MOFs with diverse functions could be introduced in a modular MOF matrix to form 3D core–satellite pluralistic hybrid system. The number of different MOF crystals interspersed could be varied on demand. More importantly, the different MOF crystals distributed in individual domains could be used to further incorporate functional units or enhance target functions.  相似文献

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are suitable enzyme immobilization matrices. Reported here is the in situ biomineralization of glucose oxidase (GOD) into MOF crystals (ZIF‐8) by interfacial crystallization. This method is effective for the selective coating of porous polyethersulfone microfiltration hollow fibers on the shell side in a straightforward one‐step process. MOF layers with a thickness of 8 μm were synthesized, and fluorescence microscopy and a colorimetric protein assay revealed the successful inclusion of GOD into the ZIF‐8 layer with an enzyme concentration of 29±3 μg cm?2. Enzymatic activity tests revealed that 50 % of the enzyme activity is preserved. Continuous enzymatic reactions, by the permeation of β‐d ‐glucose through the GOD@ZIF‐8 membranes, showed a 50 % increased activity compared to batch experiments, emphasizing the importance of the convective transport of educts and products to and from the enzymatic active centers.  相似文献

In view of the clean and sustainable energy, metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) based materials, including pristine MOFs, MOF composites, and their derivatives are emerging as unique electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). Thanks to their tunable compositions and diverse structures, efficient MOF‐based materials provide new opportunities to accelerate the sluggish ORR at the cathode in fuel cells and metal–air batteries. This Minireview first provides some introduction of ORR and MOFs, followed by the classification of MOF‐based electrocatalysts towards ORR. Recent breakthroughs in engineering MOF‐based ORR electrocatalysts are highlighted with an emphasis on synthesis strategy, component, morphology, structure, electrocatalytic performance, and reaction mechanism. Finally, some current challenges and future perspectives for MOF‐based ORR electrocatalysts are also discussed.  相似文献

Microporous metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are comparatively new porous materials. Because the pores within such MOFs can be readily tuned through the interplay of both metal‐containing clusters and organic linkers to induce their size‐selective sieving effects, while the pore surfaces can be straightforwardly functionalized to enforce their different interactions with gas molecules, MOF materials are very promising for gas separation. Furthermore, the high porosities of such materials can enable microporous MOFs with optimized gas separation selectivity and capacity to be targeted. This Focus Review highlights recent significant advances in microporous MOFs for gas separation.  相似文献

A microporous La–metal‐organic framework (MOF) has been synthesized by the reaction of La(NO3)3 ? 6 H2O with a ligand 4,4′,4′′‐s‐triazine‐1,3,5‐triyltri‐p‐aminobenzoate (TATAB) featuring three carboxylate groups. Crystal structure analysis confirms the formation of 3D MOF with hexagonal micropores, a Brunauer–Emmett—Teller (BET) surface area of 1074 m2 g?1 and high thermal and chemical stability. The CO2 adsorption capacities are 76.8 cm3 g?1 at 273 K and 34.6 cm3 g?1 at 293 K, a highest measured CO2 uptake for a Ln–MOFs.  相似文献

Hierarchically porous metal–organic frameworks (HP‐MOFs) are promising in various applications. Most reported HP‐MOFs are prepared based on the generation of mesopores in microporous frameworks, and the formed mesopores are connected by microporous channels, limiting the accessibility of mesopores for bulky molecules. A hierarchical structure is formed by constructing microporous MOFs in uninterrupted mesoporous tunnels. Using the confined space in as‐prepared mesoporous silica, highly dispersed metal precursors for MOFs are coated on the internal surface of mesoporous tunnels. Ligand vapor‐induced crystallization is employed to enable quantitative formation of MOFs in situ, in which sublimated ligands diffuse into mesoporous tunnels and react with metal precursors. The obtained hierarchically porous composites exhibit record‐high adsorption capacity for the bulky molecule trypsin. The thermal and storage stability of trypsin is improved upon immobilization on the composites.  相似文献

Recently, metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) with multifunctional pore chemistry have been intensively investigated for positioning the desired morphology at specific locations onto substrates for manufacturing devices. Herein, we develop a micro‐confined interfacial synthesis (MIS) approach for fabrication of a variety of free‐standing MOF superstructures with desired shapes. This approach for engineering MOFs provides three key features: 1) in situ synthesis of various free‐standing MOF superstructures with controlled compositions, shape, and thickness using a mold membrane; 2) adding magnetic functionality into MOF superstructures by loading with Fe3O4 nanoparticles; 3) transferring the synthesized MOF superstructural array on to flat or curved surface of various substrates. The MIS route with versatile potential opens the door for a number of new perspectives in various applications.  相似文献

The threat associated with chemical warfare agents (CWAs) motivates the development of new materials to provide enhanced protection with a reduced burden. Metal–organic frame‐works (MOFs) have recently been shown as highly effective catalysts for detoxifying CWAs, but challenges still remain for integrating MOFs into functional filter media and/or protective garments. Herein, we report a series of MOF–nanofiber kebab structures for fast degradation of CWAs. We found TiO2 coatings deposited via atomic layer deposition (ALD) onto polyamide‐6 nanofibers enable the formation of conformal Zr‐based MOF thin films including UiO‐66, UiO‐66‐NH2, and UiO‐67. Cross‐sectional TEM images show that these MOF crystals nucleate and grow directly on and around the nanofibers, with strong attachment to the substrates. These MOF‐functionalized nanofibers exhibit excellent reactivity for detoxifying CWAs. The half‐lives of a CWA simulant compound and nerve agent soman (GD) are as short as 7.3 min and 2.3 min, respectively. These results therefore provide the earliest report of MOF–nanofiber textile composites capable of ultra‐fast degradation of CWAs.  相似文献

Controlled release of an anticancer drug, doxorubicin (dox), from metal–organic framework (MOF)–drug composites is demonstrated under different external stimuli. 1,3,5‐Benzenetricarboxylic acid (H3BTC) is used as an organic ligand, and iron acetate and zinc nitrate are used as metal sources to synthesize Fe–BTC and Zn–BTC MOFs, which are known to be biocompatible. The in situ formation of MOF–drug composites demonstrates high drug loading capacity compared to conventional methods. The present methodology is devoid of any extra steps for loading the drug after synthesis. Moreover, the drug loading is also independent of pore size of the MOF as the drug molecules are embedded inside the MOF during their in situ formation. The drug release was monitored under external stimuli including change to acidic pH and the presence of biocompatible liposomes for a period of more than 72 h. Steady‐state fluorescence spectroscopy is used to monitor the drug release as a function of time and confocal laser scanning microscopy is used to unravel the post‐release fate of doxorubicin in the presence of liposomes. It is found that drug release rate is higher for the Zn–BTC–dox composite than for the Fe–BTC–dox composite. This is attributed to the stronger binding between dox and Fe‐BTC than that between dox and Zn–BTC. This study highlights a novel approach for the preparation of MOF–drug composites in an aqueous medium for future biomedical applications.  相似文献
