In order to study the effect of charge on the adsorption of surfactants at the air–water interface, two carboxybetaines have been synthesized with different number of separation methylenes between their charged groups. After purification and structure confirmation, the equilibrium and dynamic surface tensions were measured as a function of surfactant concentration for both the cationic and neutral forms of the surfactant molecules. The effect of ionic strength on the adsorption process was also studied. The equilibrium surface tension values were interpreted according to the Langmuir model and the dynamic surface tension data, converted to surface concentration by the Langmuir parameters, are consistent with the assumption of diffusion control over the range of surfactant concentrations studied. The diffusion coefficients show a progressive decrease in the rate of adsorption when the number of methylene units between the betaine charged groups increase.  相似文献

The air‐solution equilibrium tension, γc and dynamic surface tension, γt, of aqueous solutions of a novel ionic surfactant benzyltrimethylammonium bromide (BTAB) were measured by Wilhelmy method and Maximum bubble pressure method (MBPM), respectively. Adsorption equilibrium and mechanism of BTAB at the air‐solution interface were studied. The CMC was determined to be 0.11 mol/L. The results show that at the start, the adsorption process is controlled by a diffusion step. Toward the end, it changes to a mixed kinetic‐diffusion controlled mechanism with the adsorption activation energy of about 11.0 KJ/mol. Effects of temperature, inorganic salts, and alcohols on adsorption kinetics also are discussed.  相似文献

In this article, foaming properties and dynamic interfacial properties of a series of sodium 2,5-dialkyl benzene sulfonates in aqueous solutions were carried out to elucidate the relationship between foaming properties and dynamic interfacial properties. The properties of foams generated from bubbling air through different surfactant solutions were measured using a modified Bikerman device. The dynamic surface tension and surface dilational elasticity were obtained from an image analysis technique based on the oscillating bubble method. The surfactants molecular adsorption at the air/water interface was introduced with Rosen empirical equation and the rate of adsorption was determined from measurements of the dynamic surface tension. The surfactant with the longest alkyl chain shows the lowest dynamic surface activity, which lead to the lowest foam volume. The short ortho straight alkyl chain has little effect on the arrangement of molecules at the interface and the foam stability changes a little with the changing of the ortho alkyl chain length. The foam stability is correlated with both the higher surface dilational elasticity and the larger surface monolayer strength.  相似文献

The adsorption behavior of dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC), which is the major component of lung surfactant, at the air/aqueous interface and the competitive adsorption with bovine serum albumin (BSA) were studied with tensiometry, infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy (IRRAS), and ellipsometry. Dynamic surface tensions lower than 1 mN/m were observed for DPPC dispersions, with mostly vesicles, prepared with new protocols, involving extensive sonication above 50 °C. The lipid adsorbs faster and more extensively for DPPC dispersions with vesicles than with liposomes. For DPPC dispersions by a certain preparation procedure at T > Tc, when lipid particles were observed on the surface, dynamic surface tensions as low as 1 mN/m were measured. Moreover, IRRAS intensities and ellipsometric δΔ values were found to be much higher than the values for other DPPC dispersions or spread DPPC monolayers, suggesting that a larger amount of liposomes or vesicles adsorb on the surface. For DPPC/BSA mixtures, the tension behavior is controlled primarily by BSA, which prevents the formation of a dense DPPC monolayer. When BSA is injected into the subphase with a spread DPPC monolayer or into a DPPC dispersion with preadsorbed layers, little or no BSA adsorbs and the DPPC layer remains on the surface. When a DPPC monolayer is spread on a BSA solution at 0.1 wt% at 25 °C, then DPPC lipid can displace the adsorbed BSA molecules. The lack of BSA adsorption, and the expulsion of BSA by DPPC monolayer is probably due to the strong hydrophilicity of the lipid polar headgroup. When a DPPC dispersion is introduced with Trurnit's method or when dispersion drops are sprayed onto the surface of a DPPC/BSA mixture, the surface tension becomes lower and is controlled by DPPC, which can prevent the adsorption of BSA. The results may be important in understanding inhibition of lung surfactants by serum proteins and in designing efficient protocols of surfactant preparation and administration.  相似文献

合成了疏水链长度不同和连接基长度不同的7种系列阴离子孪连表面活性剂,研究了它们的表/界面活性。结果表明,它们有较低的表面张力和临界胶束浓度(CMC),有很好的表面活性。它们的CMC都在10-5~10-6mol/L之间,表面张力在26·5~34mN/m之间。它们有非常好的抗一价、二价盐的能力。除了C16-C2-C16在高于5%的NaCl溶液中会产生析出外,其余孪连表面活性剂都能耐盐20%以上。随着盐浓度的增加,孪连表面活性剂与烷烃间的界面张力逐渐降低,能达到10-3mN/m。与中原油田原油间的界面张力能降低到10-3~10-4mN/m,表明它们可应用于特高矿化度油藏提高采收率。  相似文献

用吊片法和气泡最大压力法分别测定了烷基聚葡糖苷(APG)C9.6G1.3水溶液的平衡和动态表面张力,研究了APG水溶液表面的吸附平衡、动力学及其影响因素.测得其cmc(临界胶束浓度)为0.032g/L.吸附过程由初始的扩散控制转变到势垒控制,吸附势垒为4~7kJ/mol.温度升高,平衡和动态表面张力均减小,吸附量增加;加入无机盐,平衡和动态表面张力增大,吸附量亦增加;醇类的吸附使动态表面张力下降速率加快,表明APG与醇分子间有协同吸附作用.  相似文献

The adsorption kinetics of CmE8 (m=10, 12, and 14) at an air–water interface are investigated. A pendant bubble is formed in aqueous surfactant solution and allowed to attain equilibrium. The bubble is then impulsively expanded or compressed with some change of area large enough to appreciably deplete or enrich the surface concentration and change the surface tension. The surfactant is then allowed to re-equilibrate. The surface tension evolution during this process is measured using video images of the pendant drop. The surface tension evolution is compared to mass transfer arguments. First, the re-equilibration of interfaces laden with C14E8 are studied. For compressed interfaces, surfactant must desorb to restore equilibrium. The surface tension rises more slowly than predicted by a diffusion-controlled evolution, implying that the re-equilibration is mixed diffusive-kinetic controlled. By analyzing the surface tension evolution in terms of a mixed kinetic-diffusive model, values for the kinetic constants for adsorption and desorption are found. These results are compared to those obtained previously for CmE8 (m=10 and 12). For all of these molecules, the adsorption rate constant is similar (β1=5.6±1.0×10−6 cm3 (mol s)−1). However, the desorption rate constant (1) varies strongly. Increasing m by 2 lowers the desorption rate constant 1 by nearly a factor of 15. This is consistent with an increased resistance to re-immersion into water with the length of a hydrocarbon chain.  相似文献

Interfacial tension of water–CO2 interface was measured by pendant drop method in the presence of a surfactant of various concentrations. The surfactants used were three surfynols which are non-ionic blanched hydrocarbon with different length of the alkyl side chain. Prior to the interfacial tension measurements, the solubility of the surfynols in CO2 were determined from cloud point method. The measured interfacial tensions indicated that an addition of small amount surfactant did reduce the interfacial tension. The interfacial activities of surfactants were evaluated from the slope of the interfacial tension reduction curve against the surfactant concentration and rationalized in terms of the molecular natures such as hydrophobic alkyl chain length.  相似文献

测定了自制的四种高纯度十五烷基间二甲苯磺酸钠在纯水溶液和0.0393 mol/L异丙醇溶液中的表面性质,结果表明,随芳基向碳链中间位置的移动,临界胶束浓度cmc增大,分子极限占有面积Amin增大,标准吸附自由能 变得更负,降低表面张力的效率pc20增强,饱和吸附量Γmax降低,临界胶束浓度时的表面张力γcmc降低;且异丙醇的加入使磺酸钠溶液的临界胶束浓度显著降低。从分子结构的特点探讨了分子支化程度对表面性能的影响。  相似文献

以全氟辛酸和异丙醇胺为主要原料,在不同条件下利用脂肪酸法合成了非离子型氟碳发泡剂N-(2-羟基丙基)全氟辛酰胺。 分别采用红外光谱法和核磁共振波谱法对产物结构进行了表征,并通过与十二烷基硫酸钠(SDS)的比较,综合评价了产物的起泡能力、泡沫稳定性、抗盐性及表面张力。 实验结果表明,合成产物的泡沫综合值能达到SDS的1.6倍以上;其抗盐性较强,无机盐离子的浓度对产物发泡性的影响并不十分明显;合成产物最低可使水的表面张力降至9.275 mN/m,并且在较低的使用浓度下产物降低表面张力的能力仍远强于SDS。 关联合成产物结构与性能的关系可知,产物中氢键的种类及数量、酰胺类物质的含量对其性能的影响较为明显。  相似文献

Alpha olefin sulfonates (AOS) with various alkyl chain lengths have been used to investigate the influence of alkyl chain length on the interfacial properties at air–water, liquid paraffin–water, and parafilm–water interfaces. It was found that the critical micelle concentration decreased with increasing alkyl chain length, while the efficiency of reducing surface tension was inverse relationship with alkyl chain length. The diffusion coefficient obviously reduced with an increase of surfactant concentration and alkyl chain length. The C14-16AOS shows better wettability and emulsification than C16-18AOS and C20-24AOS. For foaming properties, the foamability and foam stability dramatically decreased with increasing alkyl chain length.  相似文献

A theoretical model for the dynamic surface tension of an air bubble expanding in surfactant solution is proposed. The model accounts for the effect of convection on the surfactant diffusion and the effect of expansion of the bubble surface during the adsorption of surfactant molecules. Assuming small deviation from equilibrium and constant rate of expansion, an analytical solution for the surface tension and the subsurface concentration as a function of time is derived. The parameters of the model are computed from experimental data for sodium dodecyl sulfate obtained by the maximum bubble pressure method.  相似文献

The equilibrium, dynamic surface tensions, and surface dilatational elasticity of aqueous solutions of nonionic fluorocarbon surfactant are reported. The critical micellar concentration, CMC (0.023 mM) and equilibrium surface tension (24.6 m N . m?1) at CMC were measured by Wilhelmy plate method for aqueous solution of C8F17SO2N(C3H7)(C2H4O)nH (n=20), abbreviated as EF122A. The surface tension decay is slower for C8F17SO2N(C3H7)(C2H4O)nH (n=10) system, abbreviated as EF122B compared to the EF122A system over short time region, which indicates the slow transport of the surfactant molecules to the surface. The relaxation time for surface tension decay is estimated by fitting a series of exponentials to the dynamic surface tension data and it decreases with temperature for EF122A. Slow exchange of monomers between bulk and interface is reflected in the high elasticity value of the air‐liquid interface for EF122B compared with EF122A within measured frequency window (0.125–1.25 Hz).  相似文献

The equilibrium and dynamic surface tension properties of a partially fluorinated quaternary ammonium salt gemini surfactant 1,2-bis[dimethyl-(3-perfluoroalkyl-2-hydroxypropyl)ammonium]ethane bromide (C(n)(F)C3-2-C3C(n)F, where n represents fluorocarbon chain lengths of 4, 6, and 8) were investigated, and the effects of the fluorocarbon chain length and the number of chains on them were discussed. The plot of the logarithm of the critical micelle concentration (cmc) against the fluorocarbon chain length for C(n)(F)C3-2-C3C(n)F showed a linear decrease with an increase in chain length. On the basis of the slope of this plot, it was found that the variation in cmc with respect to the chain length is large for fluorinated gemini surfactants. The surface tension at the cmc decreased significantly; this surface tension value is lower than that of conventional fluorinated monomeric surfactants. In particular, the lowest value was 13.7 mN m(-1) for n = 8. Furthermore, it was confirmed that the kinetics of adsorption at the interface decrease with an increase in the fluorocarbon chain length and the concentration.  相似文献

Measurements were made of the surface tension of the aqueous solutions of p-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl) phenoxypoly(ethylene glycols) having 10 oxyethylene groups in the molecule (Triton X-100, TX100) and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) with Zonyl FSN-100 (FC6EO14, FC1) as well as with Zonyl FSO-100 (FC5EO10, FC2) ternary mixtures. The obtained results were compared to those provided by the Fainerman and Miller equation and to the values of the solution surface tension calculated, based on the contribution of a particular surfactant in the mixture to the reduction of water surface tension. The changes of the aqueous solution ternary surfactants mixture surface tension at the constant concentration of TX100 and CTAB mixture at which the water surface tension was reduced to 60 and 50 mN/m as a function of fluorocarbon surfactant concentration, were considered with regard to the composition of the mixed monolayer at the water-air interface. Next, this composition was applied for the calculation of the concentration of the particular surfactants in the monolayer using the Frumkin equation. On the other hand, the Gibbs surface excess concentration was determined only for the fluorocarbon surfactants. The tendency of the particular surfactants to adsorb at the water-air interface was discussed, based on the Gibbs standard free energy of adsorption which was determined using different methods. This energy was also deduced, based on the surfactant tail surface tension and tail-water interface tension.  相似文献

The effect of alkyl chain length and electrolyte on the adsorption of sodium alkyl sulfate surfactants and the oppositely charged polyelectrolyte, polyDMDAAC, at the air-water interface has been investigated by surface tension and neutron reflectivity. The variations in the patterns of adsorption and surface tension behavior with alkyl chain length and electrolyte are discussed in the context of the competition between the formation of surface active surfactant/polyelectrolyte complexes and polyelectrolyte/surfactant micelle complexes in solution. A theoretical approach based on the law of mass action has been used to predict the surface effects arising from the competition between the formation of polyelectrolyte/surfactant surface and solution complexes and the formation of free surfactant micelles. This relatively straightforward model is shown to reproduce the principal features of the experimental results.  相似文献

Novel star-shaped trimeric surfactants consisting of three quaternary ammonium surfactants linked to a tris(2-aminoethyl)amine core were synthesized. Each ammonium had two methyls and a straight alkyl chain of 8, 10, 12, or 14 carbons. The adsorption and aggregation properties of these tris(N-alkyl-N,N-dimethyl-2-ammoniumethyl)amine bromides (3C(n)trisQ, in which n represents alkyl chain carbon number) were characterized by equilibrium and dynamic surface tension, rheology, small-angle neutron scattering (SANS), and cryogenic transmission electron microscopy (cryo-TEM) techniques. 3C(n)trisQ showed critical micelle concentrations (CMC) 1 order of magnitude lower than that of the corresponding gemini surfactants with an ethylene spacer and the corresponding monomeric surfactants. The logarithm of the CMC decreased linearly with increasing hydrocarbon chain length for 3C(n)trisQ. The slope of the line, which is well-known as Klevens equation, was larger than those of the monomeric and gemini surfactants; however, considering the total carbon number in the chains, the slope was shallower than the monomeric and was close to the gemini. Through the results such as surface tensions at the CMC (32-34 mN m(-1)) and the parameters of standard free energy, CMC/C(20) and pC(20), it was found that 3C(n)trisQ could adsorb densely at the air/water interface despite the strong electrostatic repulsion between multiple quaternary ammonium headgroups. Moreover, dynamic surface tension measurements showed that the kinetics of adsorption for 3C(n)trisQ to the air/water interface was slow because of their bulky structures. Furthermore, the results of rheology, SANS, and cryo-TEM determined that 3C(n)trisQ with n = 10 and 12 formed ellipsoidal micelles at low concentrations in solution and the structures transformed to threadlike micelles with very few branches for n = 12 as the concentration increased, but for n = 14 threadlike micelles formed at relatively low concentrations.  相似文献

使用最大气泡法测定了十八烷基二甲基氯化铵(C_(18)DAC)水溶液的动态表 面张力,考察了浓度、温度等对其DST的影响,详细表征了DST随时间的变化过程, 计算了动态表面张力的各种参数(n,t_i,t~*,t_m,R_(1/2))。结合Word- Tordai方程计算了表观扩散系数(D_a)和吸附势垒(E_a),对其吸附动力学模式 进行了研究,探讨了DST参数的物理意义。结果表明,t~*值越小,吸附势垒E_a越 大,宏观扩散系数D_a越小,表面活性剂分子越不易吸附在溶液表面;C_(18)DAC低 浓度时吸附属于扩散控制模式,高浓度时属于混合控制模式;高浓度时,在吸附初 期(t → 0)为扩散控制模式,吸附后期(t → ∞)为混合控制模式。  相似文献
