The present study reports synthesis and characterization of a new acrylamide‐based monomer containing rhodanine moiety, N‐3‐amino‐thiazolidine‐4‐one‐acrylamide (ATA). Poly(ATA)‐grafted magnetite nanoparticles (poly(ATA)‐g‐MNPs) were prepared using surface‐initiated atom transfer radical polymerization of the monomer on Fe3O4 nanoparticles. The grafted nanoparticles were characterized by Fourier transform infrared analysis, scanning electron microscopy, X‐ray diffraction, and vibrating sample magnetometry. The amount of the grafted polymer was 209 mg g−1, as calculated from thermogravimetric analysis experiment. The capability of poly(ATA)‐g‐MNPs to remove Co(II) cations was shown under optimal conditions of contact time, pH, adsorbent dosage, and initial Co(II) concentration. About 86% of the Co(II) cations were removed over 7 minutes. The adsorption kinetics obeyed the pseudo–second‐order kinetic equation, and the Langmuir isotherm model best described the adsorption isotherm with a maximum adsorption capacity of 3.62 mg g−1. The thermodynamic investigation showed spontaneous nature of the adsorption process (ΔG = −2.90 kJ mol−1 at 25°C ± 1°C). In addition, the poly(ATA)‐g‐MNPs were regenerated by simply washing with an aqueous 0.1M HCl solution. The study of the reusability of the prepared magnetic sorbent revealed that the sorbent can be reused without a significant decrease in the extraction efficiency and be recovered by 95.4% after 7 cycles. These findings suggest that the grafted nanoparticles are stable and reusable adsorbent and can be potentially applied to water treatment in efficient removal of Co(II) cations.  相似文献

Novel magnetic titanium dioxide nanoparticles decorated with methyltrimethoxysilane (Fe3O4@TiO2‐MTMOS) were successfully fabricated via a sol–gel method at room temperature. The synthesized material was characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X‐ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and vibrating sample magnetometry. The removal efficiency of the adsorbent was evaluated through the adsorption of methylene blue (MB) dye from water samples. The adsorption isotherm and kinetics were evaluated using various models. The Langmuir model indicated a high adsorption capacity (11.5 mg g?1) of Fe3O4@TiO2‐MTMOS. The nanocomposite exhibited high removal efficiency (96%) and good regeneration (10 times) compared to Fe3O4 and Fe3O4@TiO2 at pH = 9.0. Based on the adsorption mechanism, electrostatic interaction plays a main role in adsorption since MB dye is cationic in nature at pH = 9, whereas the adsorbent acquired an anionic nature. The newly synthesized Fe3O4@TiO2‐MTMOS can be used as a promising material for efficient removal of MB dye from aqueous media.  相似文献

In this study, core‐shell structures of magnetite nanoparticles coated with CMK‐8 ordered mesoporous carbon (Fe3O4@SiO2‐CMK‐8 NPs) have been successfully synthesized for the first time by carbonizing sucrose inside the pores of the Kit‐6 mesoporous silica. The nano‐sized mesoporous particles were characterized by X‐ray diffraction, Fourier transform‐infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope, dynamic light scattering, vibrating‐sample magnetometer, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) and transmission electron microscopy instruments. The obtained nanocomposite was used for removal of Reactive Yellow 160 (RY 160) dye from aqueous samples. The N2 adsorption–desorption method (at 77 K) confirmed the mesoporous structure of synthesized Fe3O4@SiO2‐CMK‐8 NPs. Also, the surface area was calculated by the BET method and Langmuir plot as 276.84 m2/g and 352.32 m2/g, respectively. The surface area, volume and pore diameter of synthesized nanoparticles (NPs) were calculated from the pore size distribution curves using the Barrett–Joyner–Halenda formula (BJH). To obtain the optimum experimental variables, the effect of various experimental parameters on the dye removal efficiency was studied using Taguchi orthogonal array experimental design method. According to the experimental results, about 90.0% of RY 160 was removed from aqueous solutions at the adsorbent amount of 0.06 g, pH 3 and ionic strength = 0.05 m during 10 min. The pseudo‐second order kinetic model provided a very good fit for the RY 160 dye removal (R2 = 0.999). The Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin and Dubinin–Radushkevich models were applied to describe the equilibrium isotherms, and the Langmuir isotherm showed the best fit to data with the maximum adsorption capacity of 62.893 mg/g. Furthermore, the Fe3O4@SiO2‐CMK‐8 NPs could be simply recovered by external magnet, and exhibited recyclability and reusability for a subsequent six runs.  相似文献

A novel type of magnetic nanosorbent, hydroxyapatite‐coated Fe2O3 nanoparticles was synthesized and used for the adsorption and removal of nitrite and nitrate ions from environmental samples. The properties of synthesized magnetic nanoparticles were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and X‐ray powder diffraction. After the adsorption process, the separation of γ‐Fe2O3@hydroxyapatite nanoparticles from the aqueous solution was simply achieved by applying an external magnetic field. The effects of different variables on the adsorption efficiency were studied simultaneously using an experimental design. The variables of interest were amount of magnetic hydroxyapatite nanoparticles, sample volume, pH, stirring rate, adsorption time, and temperature. The experimental parameters were optimized using a Box–Behnken design and response surface methodology after a Plackett–Burman screening design. Under the optimum conditions, the adsorption efficiencies of magnetic hydroxyapatite nanoparticles adsorbents toward NO3? and NO2? ions (100 mg/L) were in the range of 93–101%. The results revealed that the magnetic hydroxyapatite nanoparticles adsorbent could be used as a simple, efficient, and cost‐effective material for the removal of nitrate and nitrite ions from environmental water and soil samples.  相似文献

Ferric nitrate–graphene (FG) nanocomposites synthesized via the equivalent‐volume impregnation method were used for the removal of As(V) species from simulated arsenic‐containing wastewater. Effects of various factors were assessed, such as the reaction temperature, solution pH, adsorbent dosage, and reaction time. The results indicated that the As(V) removal efficiency was as high as 99%, and the concentration of arsenic‐containing wastewater after FG treatment was as low as 9.4 μg L–1 as a result of the optimal absorption capacity and maximum specific surface area (171.766 m2/g) of this material. The equilibrium adsorption capacity of FG for As(V) was achieved in approximately 20 min, and the maximum adsorption capacity was calculated to be 112.4 mg g–1 by Langmuir adsorption isotherm, which was higher than that of other adsorbents such as manganese‐incorporated iron(III) oxide–graphene (14.42 mg g–1). Moreover, the removal efficiency of As(V) can be maintained above 95% under acidic and alkaline conditions. Brunauer–Emmett–Teller analysis showed that the modified FG pore structure was regular. Based on the characterizations by X‐ray diffraction, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and Fourier transform infrared, the products on the surface of the used FG were Fe(OH)3, FeAsO4, and other compounds, and As(V) was mainly removed by the formation of insoluble compounds and coprecipitation.  相似文献

In this study, 2‐aminopyridine functionalized magnetite nanoparticles were chemically synthesized and used for removing Cd2+ ions from aqueous solutions. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive analysis of X‐rays (EDX), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The SEM results showed the synthesized magnetite nanoparticles have particle size around 26 nm. The effects of several variables including solution pH and volume, adsorbent mass, ionic strength and contact time on the Cd2+ adsorption were studied in batch experiments and finally the optimum conditions for adsorption were obtained. The kinetic data were investigated by pseudo‐ first‐order, pseudo‐ second‐order, intraparticle diffusion and Elovich kinetic models and data were described reasonably by pseudo‐ second‐order model (R2 = 0.9996) with qe = 2.31 mg g?1. Adsorption data were analyzed using Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin isotherm models. The results indicated that the data were well fitted to the Freundlich isotherm model (R2 = 0.9907). After study the possible interference effect of foreign ions on Cd2+ removal, the applicability of the proposed nanoparticles for adsorption from real samples confirmed the successfully removal of Cd2+ ions with removal efficiency higher than 92%. The obtained results showed that the synthesized nanoparticles as a reusable adsorbent can act as a good choice for Cd2+ removal with an easy procedure.  相似文献

In this study, new bio‐based magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer nanoparticles (∼23 nm) were synthesized from keratin extracted from chicken feathers and methacrylate‐functionalized Fe3O4 nanoparticles for its potential application in separation and removal of bisphenol A from water. The prepared magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer was characterized by Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy, field‐emission scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, alternative gradient field magnetometry, and energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy. The sorption of bisphenol A was investigated by changing the influencing factors such as pH, immersion time, Fe3O4 nanoparticles dosage, and the initial concentration of bisphenol A. Results illustrated that sorption was very fast and efficient (Q= 600 mg/g) having a removal efficiency of ∼98% in 40 min of immersion. The adsorption process showed better conformity with the Weber−Morris kinetics and the Freundlich isotherm model. The selectivity of bisphenol A by adsorbent was checked in the presence of hydroquinone, phenol, tetrabromobisphenol, and 4,4′‐biphenol as interferences.  相似文献

Biochar (BC) has been widely used as a low-cost adsorbent for the removal of contaminants from water and soil. However, the adsorption ability of BC towards heavy metal oxyanions (e.g., Cr(VI)) is relatively low due to the negatively charged surface of BC. In this study, pristine BC was impregnated with Fe3+ to improve its Cr(VI) adsorption capability. Fe3+-impregnated BC (Fe3+-BC) was successfully synthesized by a simple impregnation method and used for the removal of Cr(VI) from aqueous solution. Various factors affecting the adsorption, such as impregnation ratio, pH, adsorbent dosage, contact time, temperature, and the presence of humic acid, were investigated in detail. Results showed that Fe3+-BC had strong adsorption ability to Cr(VI) with a maximum adsorption capacity of 197.80 mg/g, which were not only significantly higher than that of the pristine BC, but also were superior to many previously reported adsorbents. It was favorable for Cr(VI) adsorption under the condition of acidic and high temperature. The adsorption data obeyed Sips and Langmuir isotherms and the kinetic data were well described by the pseudo-first-order kinetic model. The results herein revealed that the Fe3+-impregnated BC had a good potential as a highly efficient material for adsorption of Cr(VI) from aqueous solution.  相似文献

In this study, the preparation of magnetic Fe3O4/ZIF-8 (MFZ) and its adsorption properties for Cd(II) from water were investigated. Various characterizations demonstrate that the as-prepared MFZ has well magnetic-separation performance and thermal stability. In batch adsorption tests, the effects of pH, initial concentration, and adsorbent dosage were evaluated. According to the findings, when the pH is 7 and the dosage is 150 mg/L, the adsorption capacity for a 40 mg/L Cd(II) solution reaches 102.3 mg/g in 180 min. The Cd(II) adsorption processes was found to correspond to pseudo-first-order kinetics and Langmuir model according to the adsorption kinetics and isotherms. The Langmuir model predicted a maximal saturation adsorption capacity of 160.26 mg/g at 298 K. Thermodynamic analysis revealed that the Cd(II) adsorption is an endothermic, spontaneous process. Ion exchange, coordination reaction, and electrostatic interaction are all involved in Cd(II) adsorption by MFZ. The optimum conditions for Cd(II) adsorption were proposed and confirmed in accordance with the results of the response surface optimization experiments. Furthermore, regeneration tests demonstrate the great repeated regeneration ability of MFZ. According to the anticipated production cost, treating wastewater with a Cd(II) concentration of 40 mg/L would cost roughly US$ 8.35/m3. MFZ showed good potential for Cd(II) removal from water.  相似文献

Uranium(VI) was removed from aqueous solutions using carbon coated Fe3O4 nanoparticles (Fe3O4@C). Batch experiments were conducted to study the effects of initial pH, shaking time and temperature on uranium sorption efficiency. It was found that the maximum adsorption capacity of the Fe3O4@C toward uranium(VI) was ∼120.20 mg g−1 when the initial uranium(VI) concentration was 100 mg L−1, displaying a high efficiency for the removal of uranium(VI) ions. Kinetics of the uranium(VI) removal is found to follow pseudo-second-order rate equation. In addition, the uranium(VI)-loaded Fe3O4@C nanoparticles can be recovered easily from aqueous solution by magnetic separation and regenerated by acid treatment. Present study suggested that magnetic Fe3O4@C composite particles can be used as an effective and recyclable adsorbent for the removal of uranium(VI) from aqueous solutions.  相似文献

Novel functionalized graphene adsorbent was prepared and characterized using different techniques. The prepared adsorbent was applied for the removal of cadmium ions from aqueous solution. A response surface methodology was used to evaluate the simple and combined effects of the various parameters, including adsorbent dosage, pH, and initial concentration. Under the optimal conditions, the cadmium removal performance of 70% was achieved. A good agreement between experimental and predicted data in this study was observed. The experimental results revealed of cadmium adsorption with high linearity follow Langmuir isotherm model with maximum adsorption capacity of 502 mg g?1, and the adsorption data fitted well into pseudo‐second order model. Thermodynamic studies showed that adsorption process has exothermic and spontaneous nature. The recommended optimum conditions are: cadmium concentration of 970 mg L?1, adsorbent dosage of 1 g L?1, pH of 6.18, and T = 25 °C. The magnetic recovery of the adsorbent was performed using a magnetic surfactant to form a noncovalent magnetic functionalized graphene. After magnetic recovery of the adsorbent both components (adsorbent and magnetic surfactant) were recycled by tuning the surface charges through changing the pH of the solution. Desorption behavior studied using HNO3 solution indicated that the adsorbent had the potential for reusability.  相似文献

Two types of magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles were investigated as adsorbents for the simultaneous removal of Pb(II), Cd(II), and As(III) metal ions from aqueous solution. Magnetite nanoparticles were prepared by two synthesis procedures, both using water as solvent, and are referred to as conventional Fe3O4 nanoparticles and green Fe3O4 nanoparticles. The latter used Citrus limon (lemon) aqueous peel extract as the surfactant. Box–Behnken experimental design was used to investigate the effects of parameters such as initial concentration (20–150?mg?L?1), pH (2–9), and biomass dosage (1–5?g?L?1) on the removal of Pb(II), Cd(II), and As(III) ions. The optimum parameters for removal of the studied metal ions from aqueous solutions, including the initial ion concentration (20?mg?L?1), pH (5.5) and adsorbent dose (5?g?L?1), were determined. The pseudosecond-order model exhibited the best fit for the kinetic studies, while adsorption equilibrium isotherms were best described by Langmuir and Freundlich models. The optimum conditions were applied for the treatment wastewater. The removal efficiencies of Pb(II), Cd(II), and As(III) using the conventional and green synthesized Fe3O4 nanoparticles were 59.4?±?4.3, 18.7?±?1.9 and 17.5?±?1.6, and 98.8?±?5.6, 46.0?±?1.3, and 48.2?±?2.6%, respectively. These results demonstrate the potential of magnetite nanoparticles synthesized using C. limon peel extract as highly efficient adsorbents for the removal of Pb(II), Cd(II), and As(III) ions from aqueous solution.  相似文献

Graphene is a 2D sp2‐hybridized carbon sheet and an ideal material for the adsorption‐based separation of organic pollutants. However, such potential applications of graphene are largely limited, owing to their poor solubility and extensive aggregation properties through graphene? graphene interactions. Herein, we report the synthesis of graphene‐based composites with γ‐Fe2O3 nanoparticle for the high‐performance removal of endocrine‐disrupting compounds (EDC) from water. The γ‐Fe2O3 nanoparticles partially inhibit these graphene? graphene interactions and offer water dispersibility of the composite without compromising much of the high surface area of graphene. In their dispersed form, the graphene component offers the efficient adsorption of EDC, whilst the magnetic iron‐oxide component offers easier magnetic separation of adsorbed EDC.  相似文献

Magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer nanoparticles for di‐(2‐ethylhexyl) phthalate were synthesized by surface imprinting technology with a sol–gel process and used for the selective and rapid adsorption and removal of di‐(2‐ethylhexyl) phthalate from aqueous solution. The prepared magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer nanoparticles were characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and vibrating sample magnetometry. The adsorption of di‐(2‐ethylhexyl) phthalate onto the magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer was spontaneous and endothermic. The adsorption equilibrium was achieved within 1 h, the maximum adsorption capacity was 30.7 mg/g, and the adsorption process could be well described by Langmuir isotherm model and pseudo‐second‐order kinetic model. The magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer displayed a good adsorption selectivity for di‐(2‐ethylhexyl) phthalate with respect to dibutyl phthalate and di‐n‐octyl phthalate. The reusability of magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer was demonstrated for at least eight repeated cycles without significant loss in adsorption capacity. The adsorption efficiencies of the magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer toward di‐(2‐ethylhexyl) phthalate in real water samples were in the range of 98–100%. These results indicated that the prepared adsorbent could be used as an efficient and cost‐effective material for the removal of di‐(2‐ethylhexyl) phthalate from environmental water samples.  相似文献

Removal and recovery of Mo(VI) from aqueous solutions were investigated using maghemite (γ-Fe2O3) nanoparticles. Combination of nanoparticle adsorption and magnetic separation was used to the removal and recovery of Mo(VI) from water and wastewater solutions. The nanoscale maghemite with mean diameter of 50 nm was synthesized by reduction coprecipitation method followed by aeration oxidation. Various factors influencing the adsorption of Mo(VI), e.g. pH, temperature, initial concentration, and coexisting common ions were studied. Adsorption reached equilibrium within <10 min and was independent of initial concentration of Mo(VI). Studies were performed at different pH values to find out the pH at which maximum adsorption occurred. The maximum adsorption occurred at pHs between 4.0 and 6.0. The Langmuir adsorption capacity (qmax) was found to be 33.4 mg Mo(VI)/g of the adsorbent. The results showed that nanoparticle (γ-Fe2O3) is suitable for the removal of Mo(VI), as molybdate, from water and wastewater samples. The adsorbed Mo(VI) was then desorbed and determined spectrophotometrically using bromopyrogallol red as a complexation reagent. This allows the determination of Mo(VI) in the range 1.0–86.0 ng mL−1.  相似文献

The developing countries are suffering from the toxicity of different industrial effluents, especially dyes that contaminate water systems. This study successfully explained the preparation and characterization of nano bentonite to extract Direct Yellow Fifty (DY50). Direct Yellow 50 is an organic contaminant that may affect the quality of water. The characterization of prepared nanoparticles was done using Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR). The impact of different operating conditions was studied using different pH, dose, temperature, contact time, and initial DY50 concentrations. The obtained results indicated that nano bentonite could adsorb about 94 % at initial concentrations of 40 mg/L, respectively. The optimum removal conditions were observed at an acidic pH (pH 3) using a sorbent material dosage of 0.05 g for 4 h at 30 °C. The adsorption isotherm, kinetic analysis, and thermodynamic behavior were studied using linear equation form, and the adjusted R2 was compared to detect the preferred models. The adsorption behavior pseudo-second order kinetics, and fitted Langmuir isotherm model, respectively, showed the chemisorption interactions between adsorbed and sorbed molecules. Thermodynamic behavior indicated that the reaction was exothermic. Finally, this study strongly recommended using nano bentonite for DY50 removal from an aqueous solution.  相似文献

The Zn0.3Al0.4O4.5 nanoparticles (ZnAlONPs) with size of 70–90 nm are used as an efficient photocatalyst for formaldehyde (HCHO) degradation and effective adsorbent for the removal of eriochrome black-T (EBT) dye from synthetic aqueous solution. Degradation of HCHO reactions were studied using TiO2 (homemade), TiO2 (P-25) and ZnAlONPs by irradiating under 18 W daylight lamp source for photocatalytic degradation. The HCHO degradation rate is about 67, 76 and 89% for TiO2 (homemade), TiO2 (P25) and ZnAlONPs during 2 h reaction, respectively at initial formaldehyde gas concentration of 20 ppm. Maximum adsorption capacity was optimized by changing the parameters such as pH, EBT concentration and adsorbent dosage. A  200 mg of ZnAlONPs are useable for quick removal of EBT (>95%). Langmuir isotherm model showed a maximum adsorption capacity of 90.90 mgg−1. The ZnAlONPs could be successfully reused upto 5th adsorption/desorption cycle for EBT dye removal from water samples.  相似文献

A magnetic adsorbent was synthesized by modification of activated carbons with magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (AC‐MIONs). The preparation method is fast and could be carried out in an ordinary condition. The AC‐MIONs were used as quite efficient adsorbents for separation of methylene blue (MB) from aqueous solution in a batch process. The effect of different parameters such as pH, temperature, electrolyte concentration, contact time and interfering ions on the removal of MB were studied. The adsorption data were analyzed by Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models and a maximum adsorption amount of 47.62 mg g‐1 and a langmuir adsorption equilibrium constant of 3.0 L mg‐1 were obtained. The obtained results revealed that AC‐MIONs were effective adsorbents for fast removal of MB from different aqueous solutions. This adsorbent was successfully used for removal of MB from Karoon River water.  相似文献

Cobalt ferrite magnetic nanoparticles (Co-MNP) were prepared by a co-precipitation method and subsequently coated with (3-mercaptopropyl)trimethoxysilane (MPTS) for the extraction and recovery of Au(III) from aqueous chloride solutions. Physical characterization of the MPTS-modified particles (Co-MPTS) was performed using FT-IR, TGA, and SEM. Results from FT-IR confirmed that MPTS was present on the surface of the magnetic nanoparticles. The amount of MPTS was 0.36 mmol g−1 of Co-MPTS, obtained by elemental analysis. SEM images revealed aggregates composed of nanocrystalline Co-MPTS particles. The extraction efficiency as a function of the pH, contact time, and initial Au(III) concentration was evaluated. The modified particles showed maximum adsorption in the pH range from 1.0 to 4.0. The adsorption behavior of Co-MPTS toward Au(III) followed a Langmuir isotherm and the maximum adsorption capacity was found to be 120.5 mg g−1. The stability of the modified materials was improved as compared to that of bare Co-MNP. The subsequent desorption of gold could be achieved by using acidified thiourea solution; the highest gold recovery reached 85%.  相似文献
