Linear fractional composition operators on the Dirichlet space in the unit ball

We investigate the adjoints of linear fractional composition operators Cφ acting on classical Dirichlet space D(BN ) in the unit ball BN of CN , and characterize the normality and essential normality of Cφ on D(BN ) and the Dirichlet space modulo constant function D0(BN ), where φ is a linear fractional map of BN . In addition, we also show that for any non-elliptic linear fractional map φ of BN , the composition maps σ ο φ and φ ο σ are elliptic or parabolic linear fractional maps of BN .     

Disjoint hypercyclic linear fractional composition operators

We characterize disjoint hypercyclicity and disjoint supercyclicity of finitely many linear fractional composition operators acting on spaces of holomorphic functions on the unit disc, answering a question of Bernal-González. We also study mixing and disjoint mixing behavior of projective limits of endomorphisms of a projective spectrum. In particular, we show that a linear fractional composition operator is mixing on the projective limit of the Sv spaces strictly containing the Dirichlet space if and only if the operator is mixing on the Hardy space.     

On composition of some general fractional integral operators

In the present paper we derive three interesting expressions for the composition of two most general fractional integral oprators whose kernels involve the product of a general class of polynomials and a multivariableH-function. By suitably specializing the coefficients and the parameters in these functions we can get a large number of (new and known) interesting expressions for the composition of fractional integral operators involving classical orthogonal polynomials and simpler special functions (involving one or more variables) which occur rather frequently in problems of mathematical physics. We have mentioned here two special cases of the first composition formula. The first involves product of a general class of polynomials and the Fox’sH-functions and is of interest in itself. The findings of Buschman [1] and Erdélyi [4] follow as simple special cases of this composition formula. The second special case involves product of the Jacobi polynomials, the Hermite polynomials and the product of two multivariableH-functions. The present study unifies and extends a large number of results lying scattered in the lierature. Its findings are general and deep.     

Adjoints of linear fractional composition operators on the Dirichlet space

The adjoint of a linear fractional composition operator acting on the classical Dirichlet space is expressed as another linear fractional composition operator plus a two rank operator. The key point is that, in the Dirichlet space modulo constant functions, many linear fractional composition operators are similar to multiplication operators and, thus, normal. As a particular application, we can easily deduce the spectrum of each linear fractional composition operator acting on such spaces. Even the norm of each linear fractional composition operator is computed on the Dirichlet space modulo constant functions. It is also shown that all this work can be carried out in the Hardy space of the upper half plane.This work was partially supported by Plan Nacional I+D Ref. BFM2000-0360 and Junta de Andalucía Ref. Toeplitz and composition operators on H2 (B n)

The composition operators with closed rangc on H²(B _n) are characterized, and the Fredholmness of products of Toeplitz and composition operators discussed. Moreover, using composition operators, the spectra of Toeplitz operators are studied. Joint hyponormality of composition operators with linear fractional symbols

We study joint hyponormality and joint subnormality of ofn-tuples of commuting composition operators with linear fractional symbols, acting on the Hardy spaceH ². We also consider subnormality ofn-tuples of adjoints of composition operators.     

Linear sums of two composition operators on the Fock space

Linear sums of two composition operators of the multi-dimensional Fock space are studied. We show that such an operator is bounded only when both composition operators in the sum are bounded. So, cancelation phenomenon is not possible on the Fock space, in contrast to what have been known on other well-known function spaces over the unit disk. We also show the analogues for compactness and for membership in the Schatten classes. For linear sums of more than two composition operators the investigation is left open.     

Norms and spectral radii of linear fractional composition operators on the ball

We give a new proof that every linear fractional map of the unit ball induces a bounded composition operator on the standard scale of Hilbert function spaces on the ball, and obtain new norm bounds analogous to the standard one-variable estimates. We also show that Cowen's one-variable spectral radius formula extends to these operators. The key observation underlying these results is that every linear fractional map of the ball belongs to the Schur-Agler class.     

Linear relations in the Calkin algebra for composition operators

We consider this and related questions: When is a finite linear combination of composition operators, acting on the Hardy space or the standard weighted Bergman spaces on the unit disk, a compact operator?

     

Linear operators on products

The project on Computing Facilities for teaching in Universities at University of Kent at Canterbury sets out to develop Application Software for teaching. Two numerical analysis teaching packages have been developed providing good graphics features.     

Generalized slant Toeplitz operators on H2

For an integer k ≥ 2, k^th‐order slant Toeplitz operator U_φ [1] with symbol φ in L^∞(??), where ?? is the unit circle in the complex plane, is an operator whose representing matrixM = (α_ij ) is given by α_ij = 〈φ, z^ki–j〉, where 〈. , .〉 is the usual inner product in L²(??). The operator V_φ denotes the compression of U_φ to H²(??) (Hardy space). Algebraic and spectral properties of the operator V_φ are discussed. It is proved that spectral radius of V_φ equals the spectral radius of U_φ, if φ is analytic or co‐analytic, and if T_φ is invertible then the spectrum of V_φ contains a closed disc and the interior of the disc consists of eigenvalues of infinite multiplicities. Toeplitz operators on generalised H2 spaces

Some aspects are developed of the theory of Toeplitz operators on generalised HardyH ² spaces associated to function algebras. It is shown that a substantial number of results of the classical theory of Toeplitz operators on the circle extend to this situation, although counterexamples are given which show that there are also important differences. Spectral connectedness results are obtained, and a characterisation of invertibility for Toeplitz operators. The Fredholm theory is also studied.     

A note on fractional derivatives and fractional powers of operators

Definitions of fractional derivatives and fractional powers of positive operators are considered. The connection of fractional derivatives with fractional powers of positive operators is presented. The formula for fractional difference derivative is obtained.     

Multilinear fractional Hausdorff operators

In this paper,by introducing the space with weak mixed norms,weak type estimates of two kinds of multilinear fractional Hausdorff operators RΦ,β and SΦ,β on Lebesgue spaces are shown.By virtue of Marcinkiewicz interpolation,strong type estimates of these two operators on Lebesgue spaces are also obtained.Our methods shed some new light on dealing with the case of non-radial function Φ.
