The C 1 density conjecture of Palis asserts that diffeomorphisms exhibiting either a homoclinic tangency or a heterodimensional cycle are C 1 dense in the complement of the C 1 closure of hyperbolic systems. Let γ be a hyperbolic closed orbit of a C 1 vector field X on a compact C manifold M of dimension n ≥ 3, and let H X(γ) be the homoclinic class of X containing γ. In this paper, we prove that C 1-generically, if H X(γ) is expansive and isolated, then it is hyperbolic.  相似文献

We study bifurcations of periodic orbits in two parameter general unfoldings of a certain type homoclinic tangency (called a generalized homoclinic tangency) to a saddle fixed point. We apply the rescaling technique to first return (Poincaré) maps and show that the rescaled maps can be brought to so-called generalized Hénon maps which have non-degenerate bifurcations of fixed points including those with multipliers e ± . On the basis of this, we prove the existence of infinite cascades of periodic sinks and periodic stable invariant circles.   相似文献

Here we study an amazing phenomenon discovered by Newhouse [S. Newhouse, Non-density of Axiom A(a) on S2, in: Proc. Sympos. Pure Math., vol. 14, Amer. Math. Soc., 1970, pp. 191-202; S. Newhouse, Diffeomorphisms with infinitely many sinks, Topology 13 (1974) 9-18; S. Newhouse, The abundance of wild hyperbolic sets and nonsmooth stable sets of diffeomorphisms, Publ. Math. Inst. Hautes Études Sci. 50 (1979) 101-151]. It turns out that in the space of Cr smooth diffeomorphisms Diffr(M) of a compact surface M there is an open set U such that a Baire generic diffeomorphism fU has infinitely many coexisting sinks. In this paper we make a step towards understanding “how often does a surface diffeomorphism have infinitely many sinks.” Our main result roughly says that with probability one for any positive D a surface diffeomorphism has only finitely many localized sinks either of cyclicity bounded by D or those whose period is relatively large compared to its cyclicity. It verifies a particular case of Palis' Conjecture saying that even though diffeomorphisms with infinitely many coexisting sinks are Baire generic, they have probability zero.One of the key points of the proof is an application of Newton Interpolation Polynomials to study the dynamics initiated in [V. It is known that in the Bogdanov–Takens map there exists a zone of transversal homoclinic intersections bounded by two curves of homoclinic tangencies. In this paper, we derive an improved asymptotic formula for the homoclinic parameter values of the BT map. We compare two methods to approximate the Bogdanov–Takens map by the time-1 flow of a vector-field, and find that they are equivalent. We show that it is essential to include the second-order terms w.r.t. the parameters to obtain a more accurate asymptotic for the homoclinic zone. We show how to use this new homoclinic asymptotic to compute branches of homoclinic tangencies in the BT map numerically, obtaining the whole homoclinic structure of the Bogdanov–Takens map.  相似文献

We study C 1-generic diffeomorphisms with a homoclinic class with non empty interior and in particular those admitting a codimension one dominated splitting. We prove that if in the finest dominated splitting the extreme subbundles are one dimensional then the diffeomorphism is partially hyperbolic and from this we deduce that the diffeomorphism is transitive.  相似文献

Transversal homoclinic orbits of maps are known to generate a Cantor set on which a power of the map conjugates to the Bernoulli shift on two symbols. This conjugacy may be regarded as a coding map, which for example assigns to a homoclinic symbol sequence a point in the Cantor set that lies on a homoclinic orbit of the map with a prescribed number of humps. In this paper we develop a numerical method for evaluating the conjugacy at periodic and homoclinic symbol sequences in a systematic way. The approach combines our previous method for computing the primary homoclinic orbit with the constructive proof of Smale's theorem given by Palmer. It is shown that the resulting nonlinear systems are well conditioned uniformly with respect to the characteristic length of the symbol sequence and that Newton's method converges uniformly too when started at a proper pseudo orbit. For the homoclinic symbol sequences an error analysis is given. The method works in arbitrary dimensions and it is illustrated by examples. Let p be a hyperbolic periodic saddle of a diffeomorphism of f on a closed smooth manifold M, and let Hf(p) be the homoclinic class of f containing p. In this paper, we show that if Hf(p) is locally maximal and every hyperbolic periodic point in Hf(p) is uniformly far away from being nonhyperbolic, and Hf(p) has the average shadowing property, then Hf(p) is hyperbolic.  相似文献

New conditions for a planar homoclinic loop to have cyclicity two under multiple parameter perturbations have been obtained. As an application it is proved that a homoclinic loop of a nongeneric cubic Hamiltonian has cyclicity two under arbitrary quadratic perturbations. A general method for a homoclinic loop of planar Hamiltonian systems to bifurcate two or three limit cycles under perturbations is established. Certain conditions are given under which the cyclicity of a homoclinic loop equals 1 or 2. As an application to quadratic systems, it is proved that the cyclicity of homoclinic loops of quadratic integrable and non-Hamiltonian systems equals 2 except for one case. Conditions are found for a homoclinic orbit to bifurcate from a heteroclinic loop for autonomous ordinary differential equations. The results axe applied to prove the existence of traveling wave solutions of the FitzHugh-Nagumo equations and a system of reaction diffusion equations which arise as a model for a two step combustion process.  相似文献
