We give conditions on the coefficient matrix for certain perturbed linear dynamic equations on time scales ensuring that there exists a bounded solution (which is explicitly given) to which all other solutions converge, and similarly conditions ensuring a bounded solution from which all other solutions diverge. We also consider periodic time scales and corresponding linear dynamic equations with periodic coefficients and prove similar statements about periodic solutions to which all other solutions converge or from which all other solutions diverge.  相似文献

Abstract

The velocity field and the adequate shear stress corresponding to the unsteady flow of a generalized Oldroyd-B fluid in an infinite circular cylinder are determined by means of Hankel and Laplace transforms. The solutions that have been obtained, written in terms of the generalized G-functions, satisfy all imposed initial and boundary conditions. The similar solutions for generalized Maxwell fluids as well as those for ordinary fluids are obtained as limiting cases of our general solutions.  相似文献

A new probabilistic representation is presented for solutions of the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in R3 with given forcing and initial velocity. This representation expresses solutions as scaled conditional expectations of functionals of a Markov process indexed by the nodes of a binary tree. It gives existence and uniqueness of weak solutions for all time under relatively simple conditions on the forcing and initial data. These conditions involve comparison of the forcing and initial data with majorizing kernels.  相似文献

   Abstract. Substitution Delone set families are families of Delone sets X =(X 1 , . . ., X n ) which satisfy the inflation functional equation
in which A is an expanding matrix, i.e., all of the eigenvalues of A fall outside the unit circle. Here the D ij are finite sets of vectors in R d and V denotes union that counts multiplicity. This paper characterizes families X =(X 1 , . . ., X n ) that satisfy an inflation functional equation, in which each X i is a multiset (set with multiplicity) whose underlying set is discrete. It then studies the subclass of Delone set solutions, and gives necessary conditions on the coefficients of the inflation functional equation for such solutions X to exist. It relates Delone set solutions to a narrower subclass of solutions, called self-replicating multi-tiling sets, which arise as tiling sets for self-replicating multi-tilings.  相似文献

For metrically generated constructs X we give an internal characterization of the regular closure operator on X, determined by the subconstruct X 0, consisting of its T 0 objects. This allows us to describe the epimorphisms in X 0 and to show that all the constructs of that type are cowellpowered. We capture many known results but our method also gives solutions in cases where the epimorphism problem was still open. The third author is “research assistant” at the FWO-Vlaanderen.  相似文献

A logical formula F(X, P) can be treated as an equation to be satisfied by the solutions X 0(P) for the predicates X with the expressions P as parameters (if there are such solutions). J. McCarthy considered the parametrization of the solutions, gave the general solution in the case of propositional logic, and stated the problem for other logics. We find the general solution for formulas in the first-order language with monadic predicates and equality. The solutions are obtained via quantifier elimination and parametrized by ϵ-terms. Abstract

In this paper we determine the velocity field and the shear stress corresponding to the unsteady flow of a Maxwell fluid with fractional derivatives driven by an infinite circular cylinder that slides along its axes with a velocity Ata. The general solutions, obtained by means of integral transforms, satisfy all imposed initial and boundary conditions. They can be easily particularized to give the similar solutions for ordinary Maxwell and Newtonian fluids. Finally, the influence of the parameters α and β on the fluid motion as well as a comparison between models is underlined by graphical illustrations.  相似文献

This paper investigates the existence of periodic solutions of a three-species food-chain diffusive system with Beddington-DeAngelis functional responses and time delays in a two-patch environment on time scales. By using a continuation theorem based on coincidence degree theory, we obtain sufficient criteria for the existence of periodic solutions for the system. Moreover, when the time scale T is chosen as R or Z, the existence of the periodic solutions of the corresponding continuous and discrete models follows. Therefore, the method is unified to provide the existence of the desired solutions for continuous differential equations and discrete difference equations.  相似文献

   Abstract. We consider the indeterminate Stieltjes moment problem associated with the q -Laguerre polynomials. A transformation of the set of solutions, which has all the classical solutions as fixed points, is established and we present a method to construct, for instance, continuous singular solutions. The connection with the moment problem associated with the Stieltjes—Wigert polynomials is studied; we show how to come from q -Laguerre solutions to Stieltjes—Wigert solutions by letting the parameter α —> ∞ , and we explain how to lift a Stieltjes—Wigert solution to a q -Laguerre solution at the level of Pick functions. Based on two generating functions, expressions for the four entire functions from the Nevanlinna parametrization are obtained.  相似文献

A variety of problems in computer science, operations research, control theory, etc., can be modeled as non-linear and non-differentiable max–min systems. This paper introduces the global optimization into such systems. The criteria for the existence and uniqueness of the globally optimal solutions are established using the high matrix, optimal max-only projection set and k s -control vector of max–min functions. It is also shown that the global optimization can be accomplished through the partial max-only projection representation with algebraic and combinatorial features. The methods are constructive and lead to an algorithm of finding all globally optimal solutions.  相似文献

We analyze the global dynamics of Bianchi type I solutions of the Einstein equations with anisotropic matter. The matter model is not specified explicitly but only through a set of mild and physically motivated assumptions; thereby our analysis covers matter models as different from each other as, e.g., collisionless matter, elastic matter and magnetic fields. The main result we prove is the existence of an ‘anisotropy classification’ for the asymptotic behaviour of Bianchi type I cosmologies. The type of asymptotic behaviour of generic solutions is determined by one single parameter that describes certain properties of the anisotropic matter model under extreme conditions. The anisotropy classification comprises the following types. The convergent type A+: Each solution converges to a Kasner solution as the singularity is approached and each Kasner solution is a possible past asymptotic state. The convergent types B+ and C+: Each solution converges to a Kasner solution as the singularity is approached; however, the set of Kasner solutions that are possible past asymptotic states is restricted. The oscillatory type D+: Each solution oscillates between different Kasner solutions as the singularity is approached. Abstract

We study strong solutions of the Navier–Stokes equations for nonhomogeneous incompressible fluids in Ω ? R 3. Deriving higher a priori estimates independent of the lower bounds of the density, we prove the existence and uniqueness of local strong solutions to the initial value problem (for Ω =R 3) or the initial boundary value problem (for Ω ? ? R 3) even though the initial density vanishes in an open subset of Ω, i.e., an initial vacuum exists. As an immediate consequence of the a priori estimates, we obtain a continuation theorem for the local strong solutions.  相似文献

This article deals with blow-up solutions of the Cauchy–Dirichlet problem for system of semilinear heat equations with quadratic non-linearities. Sufficient conditions for the existence of blow-up solutions are established. Sets of initial values for these solutions as well as upper bounds for corresponding blow-up time are determined. Furthermore, an application to the Lotka-Volterra system with diffusion is also discussed.
