Existence theorems for variational inclusion problems and the set-valued vector Ekeland variational principle in a complete metric space

In this paper, we apply an existence theorem for the variational inclusion problem to study the existence results for the variational intersection problems in Ekeland’s sense and the existence results for some variants of set-valued vector Ekeland variational principles in a complete metric space. Our results contain Ekeland’s variational principle as a special case and our approaches are different to those for any existence theorems for such problems.     

Existence Theorems for Systems of Generalized Vector Quasiequilibrium Problems and Optimization Problems

In this paper, we use existence theorems for the equilibria of generalized abstract economies proved recently to establish existence theorems for systems of generalized vector quasiequilibrium problems. Then, these existence theorems for equilibrium problems are used to derive existence theorems for systems of generalized vector quasivariational-like inequality problems, and vector quasioptimization problems.This research was supported by the National Science Council of the Republic of China. 研究了时标上具有阶段结构的三种群捕食系统.运用时标上连续拓扑度定理,得到了系统存在周期解的充分条件.其研究方法使系统的连续时间情形和离散时间情形的周期解问题得到了统一,被广泛地应用来研究微分方程和差分方程的周期解的存在问题.     

Periodic solution and wave front solution for delay equation

First, a general theorem on the existence of periodic solutions for equations with small discrete delay is obtained by employing a technique which is based on a result of the existence of inertial manifold for small discrete delay equation, meanwhile, this general theorem is applied to show the existence of periodic solution for a predator–prey system with small discrete delay. Second, this technique is also used to obtain the existence of travelling wave solution for a host–vector disease model with small discrete delay.     

Almost Periodic Solutions of Nonlinear Second Order Differential Equations

We provide existence results for almost periodic solutions of nonlinear second order ordinary differential equations. The results extend existence results for periodic solutions of periodic equations, where the existence of periodic sub and supersolutions implied the existence of periodic solutions.     

Multibump solutions for discrete periodic nonlinear Schrödinger equations

In this paper, we study the existence of multibump solutions for discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equations with periodic potentials. We first reduce the existence of multibump homoclinic solutions to the existence of an isolated homoclinic solution with a nontrivial critical group. Then, we study the existence of homoclinics with nontrivial critical groups for both superlinear and asymptotically linear discrete periodic nonlinear Schrödinger equations, and we provide simple sufficient conditions for the existence of homoclinics with nontrivial critical groups in the positive definite case. As an application, we get, without any symmetry assumptions, infinitely many geometrically distinct homoclinic solutions with exponential decay at infinity.     

An existence theorem for a generalized self-dual Chern–Simons equation and its application

In this paper, we establish an existence theorem for a generalized self-dual Chern–Simons equation over a doubly periodic domain and use the existence theorem to prove the existence of doubly periodic self-dual vortices in a Maxwell–Chern–Simons model with non-minimal coupling. We find a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of solutions of the generalized Chern–Simons equation. We prove the existence result by using two methods, a super- and sub-solution method and a constrained minimization method. Our main contribution is that we find a general inequality-type constraint by using the second method and it maybe applied to some related problems with the similar structures.     

Periodic solutions for ordinary differential equations with sublinear impulsive effects

The continuation method of topological degree is used to investigate the existence of periodic solutions for ordinary differential equations with sublinear impulsive effects. The applications of the abstract approach include the generalizations of some classical nonresonance theorem for impulsive equations, for instance, the existence theorem for asymptotically positively homogeneous differential systems and the existence theorem for second order equations with Landesman-Lazer conditions.     

Short time existence of the heat flow for Dirac-harmonic maps on closed manifolds

The heat flow for Dirac-harmonic maps on Riemannian spin manifolds is a modification of the classical heat flow for harmonic maps by coupling it to a spinor. It was introduced by Chen, Jost, Sun, and Zhu as a tool to get a general existence program for Dirac-harmonic maps. For source manifolds with boundary they obtained short time existence, and the existence of a global weak solution was established by Jost, Liu, and Zhu. We prove short time existence of the heat flow for Dirac-harmonic maps on closed manifolds.     

Application of doubly reflected BSDEs to an impulse control problem

We establish existence results for adapted solutions of infinite horizon backward stochastic differential equations with two reflected barriers. We also apply these results to get the existence of an optimal impulse control strategy for the infinite horizon impulse control problem. The properties of the Snell envelope reduce our problem to the existence of a pair of continuous processes.

研究抽象空间中无穷时滞微分方程概自守解的存在性,证明了在正实轴上存在有界解蕴含存在概自守解,并给出了结论在L otka-V o lterra型方程中的应用.我们的结果推广了经典的关于非齐次线性概周期微分方程概周期解存在性的结论.     

Pseudo almost automorphic solutions for dissipative differential equations in Banach spaces

This work aims to study the existence and uniqueness of pseudo compact almost automorphic solution for some dissipative ordinary and functional differential equations. We prove the existence and uniqueness of pseudo compact almost automorphic solution for dissipative differential equations in Banach spaces and then we apply this result to show the existence of pseudo compact almost automorphic solutions for some functional differential equations.     

An Elementary Approach to the Daniell-Kolmogorov Theorem and Some Related Results

We give a short elementary proof of the Daniell-Kolmogorov existence theorem for probability measures on product spaces, assuming nothing but the existence of Lebesgue measure on the unit interval. Related approaches are used to prove the existence of regular conditional distributions directly on Polish spaces, and to establish the existence of random measures and sets with given finite-dimensional distributions or hitting probabilities, respectively.

运用Krasnosel’skii不动点理论研究了一类含参泛函微分方程半正问题正周期解的存在性．获得了当参数充分小时正周期解的存在性结果以及半正问题正周期解存在的充分条件．丰富了一阶泛函微分方程解的存在性理论．     

Existence conditions for non-safe loads in masonry-like bodies

We study the existence of minimizers for a class of noncoercive functionals, representing the strain energy of masonry-like bodies subject to loads that are not “safe” with respect to certain existence conditions estblished in the literature. Some more general sufficient conditions for existence are proved, and two simple noncoercive examples are discussed making use of these conditions.     

Almost automorphic solutions for some partial functional differential equations

In this work, we study the existence of almost automorphic solutions for some partial functional differential equations. We prove that the existence of a bounded solution on R⁺ implies the existence of an almost automorphic solution. Our results extend the classical known theorem by Bohr and Neugebauer on the existence of almost periodic solutions for inhomegeneous linear almost periodic differential equations. We give some applications to hyperbolic equations and Lotka-Volterra type equations used to describe the evolution of a single diffusive animal species.     

Equivalent forms of a generalized KKM theorem and their applications

In this paper, we study various types of variational relation problems. We establish the existence of solutions for these types of problems and point out some important particular cases and their applications. We also show that some existence theorems of solution for these types of problems and some existence theorems of variational inclusion problems are equivalent to a generalized KKM theorem. Applying our results we obtain existence theorems of common fixed point, generalized maximal element theorems, a generalized coincidence theorems and a section theorem.     

On the role of supercompact and extendible cardinals in logic

It is proved that the existence of supercompact cardinal is equivalent to a certain Skolem-Löwenheim Theorem for second order logic, whereas the existence of extendible cardinal is equivalent to a certain compactness theorem for that logic. It is also proved that a certain axiom schema related to model theory implies the existence of many extendible cardinals.     

The existence of contingent epiderivatives for set-valued maps

This short note deals with the issue of existence of contingent epiderivatives for set-valued maps defined from a real normed space to the real line. A theorem of Jahn-Rauh [1], given for the existence of contingent epiderivatives, is used to obtain more general existence results. The strength and the limitations of the main result are discussed by means of some examples.
