The nucleophilic addition reaction of a pyrrole nitrogen of free-base porphyrins to a pi-complexed acetylene ligand in a cationic Co(III) porphyrin intermediate afforded good yields of vinylene-Co,N'-linked bis(porphyrin)s, (Por)Co(III)-CH=CH-(N-Por)H(2). N-substituted porphyrin free bases are N-vinylated regioselectively at the pyrrole adjacent to the original N-substituted pyrrole in this reaction. Tris- and tetrakis(porphyrin)s have been prepared by reacting a vinylene-N,N'-linked bis(meso-tetraarylporphyrin) with (OEP)Co(III)(H(2)O)(2)ClO(4) (OEP: octaethylporphyrin dianion) and acetylene. The tetrakis(porphyrin) proved to be a 1:1 mixture of C(i)()- and C(2)-symmetric regioisomers. These organometallic Co(III) complexes underwent facile oxidative migration of the Co-bound vinyl group to a porphyrin pyrrole nitrogen when treated with Fe(III) salts or HClO(4) to provide moderate to good yields of Co(II) vinylene-N,N'-linked multi(porphyrin) complexes. (Vinylene-N,N')bis(porphyrin) free bases with combinations of different porphyrins have been obtained by this procedure. The homobinuclear (2Co(II), 2Cu(II), and 2Zn(II)) and heterobinuclear (Co(II)Cu(II) and Co(II)Zn(II)) complexes have been prepared and characterized spectroscopically. The single-crystal X-ray analysis of (CH=CH-N,N')[(OEP)Co(II)Cl][(TPP)Zn(II)Cl] (TPP: meso-tetraphenylporphyrin dianion) showed a face-to-face structure with an average inter-ring separation of 4.39 ? (triclinic P&onemacr;; Z = 2; a = 14.806(4), b = 18.703(10), c = 13.796(3) ?, alpha = 97.69(3), beta = 99.57(2), gamma = 96.74(3) degrees ).  相似文献

Mössbauer spectra of /pheophytinato a/ iron/III/ chloride [Fe/Pheo-a/Cl] and /pheophytinato b/ iron/III/ chloride [Fe/Pheo-b/Cl] have revealed that the central iron/III/ ion is in a high-spin state and axially coordinated by chloride ions in solid phase. Temperature-dependent asymmetry observed for the quadrupole splitting doublet of iron/III/ pheophytins, i.e., Fe/Pheo-a/Cl and Fe/Pheo-b/Cl, is interpreted on the basis of the zero-field splitting. The structural difference between iron/III/ pheophytins and iron/III/ porphyrins is reflected in the quadrupole splitting more than in the isomer shift. Magnetic behaviour of iron/III/ pheophytins near 4.2 K is very similar to that of iron/III/ porphyrins.  相似文献

A rare family of five and six-coordinated high-spin Fe(III) porphyrins incorporating weak axial ligands are synthesized and structurally characterized which demonstrate, for the first time, stepwise metal displacements in a single distorted macrocyclic environment that has generally been seen in many biological systems. The introduction of four nitro groups into the meso-positions of octaethyl porphyrin severely distorts the porphyrin geometry and provides an interesting modulation of the macrocycle properties which enables the facile isolation of "pure" high-spin Fe(III)(tn-OEP)Cl, Fe(III)(tn-OEP)(MeOH)Cl, and Fe(III)(tn-OEP)(H2O)2(+) in excellent yields in a saddle distorted macrocyclic environment that are known to stabilize intermediate spin states. The stepwise out-of-plane displacements of iron are as follows: 0.47 A for Fe(III)(tn-OEP)Cl; 0.09 A for Fe(III)(tn-OEP)(MeOH)Cl, and 0.01 A for Fe(III)(tn-OEP)(H2O)2(+) from the mean plane of the porphyrins. However, in both five and six-coordinated Fe(III) porphyrins, the Fe-Np distances are quite comparable while the porphyrin cores have expanded significantly, virtually to the same extent for the six-coordinate complexes reported here. The large size of the high-spin iron(III) atom in Fe(III)(tn-OEP)(H2O)2(+) is accommodated perfectly with no displacement of the metal. This expansion is accompanied by a significant decrease of the saddle distortion with a clear increase of the ruffling. Furthermore, the Fe atom in Fe(III)(tn-OEP)(MeOH)Cl is not out of plane because of the larger atom size; however, the displacement of the iron depends on both the relative strength of the axial ligands, as well as the nature and extent of the ring deformation. Our characterization demonstrates that increase in ruffling and/or decrease in macrocycle deformation brings the iron atom more into the plane in a distorted macrocyclic environment. Our observations thus suggest that the displacements of iron in proteins are the consequences of nonequivalent axial coordination, as well as protein induced deformations at the heme. The high-spin nature of the complexes reported here is believed to be due to the larger Fe-Np distances which then reduce substantially the interaction between iron d(x2)-y2 and porphyrin a(2u) orbital. The Fe(III)/Fe(II) reduction potential of Fe(III)(tn-OEP)Cl shows a reversible peak at large positive value (0.20 V), and no ring-centered oxidation was observed within the solvent limit (approximately 1.80 V). It is thus easier to reduce Fe(III)(tn-OEP)Cl by almost 700 mV compared to Fe(III)(OEP)Cl while oxidations are very difficult. Furthermore, the addition of 3-Cl-pyridine to Fe(III)(tn-OEP)Cl in air undergoes spontaneous auto reduction to produce the rare air-stable Fe(II)(tn-OEP)(3-Cl-py)2 that shows Fe(II)/Fe(III) oxidation peaks at high positive potential (0.79 V), which is approximately 600 mV more anodic compared to [Fe(II)(tn-OEP)Cl](-). This large anodic shift illustrates the effective removal of metal-centered electron density by the macrocycle when the metal is constrained to reside in the porphyrin plane.  相似文献

The electrochemistry of 16 different water-soluble porphyrins of the type [(TMpyP)M(II)]4+ (X-)4 or [(TMpyP)M(III)Cl]4+ (Cl-)4 is reported in nonaqueous media where TMpyP is the dianion of meso-tetrakis(N-methylpyridiniumyl)porphyrin and X- = Cl- or BPh4-. These studies were carried out to examine the effect of the metal ion and porphyrin counterion (X-) on the electrochemical properties of the TMpyP complexes with a special emphasis being given to the overall number of electrons added and the number of electrode processes upon reduction. All of the investigated compounds with electroinactive central metal ions undergo an overall addition of six electrons. This occurs for most compounds via three two-electron-transfer steps, but more than three processes are observed for porphyrins having metal ions with a low electronegativity (e.g., Cd(II)). The first reduction of each porphyrin having an M(II) ion or an electroinactive M(III) ion yields a porphyrin dianion which is characterized by an intense band located close to 800 nm, and this reversible reduction is followed by further reductions of the 1-methyl-4-pyridyl groups at more negative potentials. Four of the compounds with electroactive central metal ions, [(TMpyP)M(III)Cl]4+(Cl-)4 (M = Co, Fe, Mn, or Au), undergo an additional reversible M(III)/M(II) process prior to reactions involving the porphyrin pi-ring system and the 1-methyl-4-pyridyl substituents.  相似文献

The potentiometric response characteristics with respect to salicylate anion of several membrane electrodes based on iron(III) tetraphenylporphyrin chloride (FeTPPCl) and derivatives with electrophilic and nucleophilic substituents, incorporated into plasticized polyvinylchloride (PVC) membranes were investigated. Complexes tetraphenyl porphyrin iron(III) chloride (FeTPPCl; A), tetrakis (4-methoxyphenyl) porphyrin iron(III) chloride (Fe(TOCH3PP)Cl; B), tetrakis (2,6-dichlorophenyl) porphyrin iron(III) chloride (Fe(TDClPP)Cl; C), tetrakis (4-nitrophenyl) porphyrin iron(III) chloride (Fe(TNO2PP)Cl; D), and tetrakis (pentafluorophenyl) porphyrin iron(III) chloride (Fe(TPFPP)Cl; E) were used as anion carriers in the membrane electrodes. The sensitivity, working range, detection limit, response mechanism, and selectivity of the membrane sensor toward interference shows a considerable dependence on the type of carrier substituent and the pH value of the sample solution. Potentiometric investigations in solutions of various pH show that the carrier complex containing fluoro substituents (E), which have very strong electron-accepting properties and a high ability to form hydrogen bonds, is capable of serving as a positively charged ionophore. Some other ionophores are capable of serving as both charged and neutral carriers under different conditions. The electrodes prepared in this work show super-Nernstian slopes with respect to salicylate concentration, which tend to a Nernstian response (slope near to -59 mV decade-1) upon an increase of the pH of the test solution. The results of UV/Vis absorption spectroscopy are used for interpretation of the formation of an oxene complex between salicylate and iron porphyrins.  相似文献

A series of porphyrins strapped and capped by benzene and amidobenzene rings have been prepared. O(2) and CO bindings to their iron(II) complexes have been examined, and the role of hydrogen-bonding in stabilizing O(2) binding has been measured. Each comparison between the benzene ring (no H-bonding) and the amidobenzene ring analogues showed a free energy gain of approximately 1 kcal/mol (at -45 degrees C) for the amidobenzene derivatives. An X-ray structure analysis was carried out for the ferric (Cl(-)) complex of the benzene-capped porphyrin strapped by two butyl side chains. The crystals were monoclinic, with a = 10.557(3) ?, b = 31.290(5) ?, c = 11.221(3) ?, beta = 104.62(2) degrees, Z = 4, and space group P2(1)/n. The structure was solved by the Patterson method and was refined by full-matrix least-squares procedures to R = 0.040 (R(w) = 0.041) for 3844 reflections with I >/= 3sigma(F(2)).  相似文献

The synthetic route of partially beta-halogenated via a "metal-assisted" reaction and perhalogenated terbium complexes is described. This protocol allows the facile insertion of the halogens (bromines or chlorides) to the porphyrin peripheral positions. The electronic absorption spectra and the redox potentials of the free porphyrins as well as the terbium complexes are dramatically affected as the number of halogen atoms increase. In fact, two antagonistic effects are responsible for that, the inductive and the distortion effects on the porphyrin ring. They result in a red shift for the Soret band and a stabilization/destabilization of the HOMOs/LUMOs which in turn is manifested by variations on the redox potentials. The novel crystal structure of the Ni(Cl(8)TPP) is discussed in great detail and compared with the previously reported structures of Tb(Cl(8)TPP) (OAc)(DMSO)(2) x 3PhCH(3) x MeOH and H(2)(Br(8)TPP), as well as with other perhalogenated nickel porphyrins available in the literature.  相似文献

Iron(II) porphyrin nitrosyl complexes are obtained in high yields from the reaction of iron(III) porphyrins with the nitroxyl donors sodium trioxodinitrate and toluensulfohydroxamic acid. The reaction was found to proceed both in organic solvents and in aqueous media from iron(III) (meso-tetraphenyl) porphyrinate ([FeIII(TPP)]+) and iron(III) meso-tetrakis (4-sulfonatophenyl) porphyrinate ([FeIII(TPPS)]3-) or iron(III) protoporphyrin IX, respectively. The kinetic rate constant for the reaction of ([FeIII(TPPS)]3-) with sodium trioxodinitrate (kon) was estimated to be 1.00 +/- 0.04 x 107 M-1 s-1. As well as resulting in a versatile method for obtaining ferrous nitrosyl porphyrins, the reaction points at ferric porphyrins as efficient nitroxyl traps and provides a tool to model nitroxyl reactivity toward hemeproteins.  相似文献

The 1H NMR spectra of iron(III) 5-ethynyl-10,15,20-tri(p-tolyl)porphyrin [(ETrTP)Fe(III)X(n)], iron(III) 5-(phenylethynyl)-10,15,20-tri(p-tolyl)porphyrin [(PETrTP)Fe(III)X(n)], iron(III) 5-(phenylbutadiynyl)-10,15,20-tri(p-tolyl)porphyrin [(PBTrTP)Fe(III)X(n)], iron(III) 5,10,15,20-tetra(phenylethynyl)porphyrin [(TPEP)Fe(III)X(n)], iron(III) 1,4-bis-[10,15,20-tri(p-tolyl)porphyrin-5-yl]-1,3-butadiyne {[(TrTP)Fe(III)X(n)]2 B}, and 5,10,15-triphenylporphyrin [(TrPP)Fe(III)X(n)] have been studied to elucidate the impact of meso-ethynyl substitution on the electronic structure and spin density distribution of high-spin (X = Cl-, n = 1) and low-spin (X = CN-, n = 2) derivatives. The meso substituents, i.e., ethynyl, phenylethynyl, and phenylbutadiynyl, provided insight into the efficiency of spin density delocalization along structural elements that are typically applied to transmit electronic effects along multipart polyporphyrinic systems. The positive spin density localized at the meso-carbon of high-spin iron(III) ethynylporphyrins is effectively delocalized along the ethyne or butadiyne fragment as illustrated by the comparison of isotropic shifts of C(meso)-H and -CC-H determined for (TrPP)Fe(III)Cl (-82.6 ppm, 293 K) and (ETrTP)Fe(III)Cl (-49.5 ppm, 298 K). The replacement of the ethynyl hydrogen by phenyl or phenylethynyl provided evidence for the pi spin density distribution around the introduced phenyl ring. An analysis of the isotropic shifts for the low-spin bis-cyanide iron(III) porphyrins series reveals the analogous mechanism of spin density transfer. Treatment of high-spin [(TrTP)Fe(III)Cl]2 B with a base resulted in formation of the cyclic [(TrTP)Fe(III)OFe(III)(TrTP)B]2 complex linked by two mu-oxo bridges. (TPEP)H2 has been characterized by X-ray crystallography as a porphyrin dication where two molecules of trifluoroacetic acid associate with two coordinated trifluoroacetate anions. The X-ray structure of bis-tetrahydrofuran 1,4-bis[10,15,20-tri(p-tolyl)porphyrinatozinc(II)-5-yl]-1,3-butadiyne complex {[(TrTP)Zn(II)(THF)]2 B} reveals two parallel, non-coplanar [(TrTP)Zn(THF)] subunits linked by the linear butadiyne moiety.  相似文献

A modular building-block approach has been developed for the construction of linear amphipathic porphyrin arrays. The reaction of meso-(trifluoromethyl)dipyrromethane and an aldehyde under the conditions of the two-step room temperature porphyrin synthesis affords the trans-substituted porphyrin (13-56% yields). A similar reaction with two different aldehydes provides access to porphyrins bearing two different functional groups. An ethyne porphyrin and an iodo porphyrin (either free base or zinc) are selectively joined via Pd(0)-catalyzed coupling reactions, affording a linear array with porphyrins in defined metalation states. Coupling of a zinc-porphyrin bearing iodo and ester groups with a free base porphyrin bearing ethyne and ester groups yielded the zinc-free base porphyrin dimer. Coupling of a bis-ethyne porphyrin with a porphyrin bearing iodo and ester groups afforded the porphyrin trimer. Cleavage of the esters yielded the amphipathic porphyrin dimer and trimer arrays. The arrays with adjacent zinc and free base porphyrins undergo efficient electronic energy transfer. Both amphipathic porphyrin arrays have been incorporated into L-alpha-phosphatidylcholine vesicles. This versatile synthetic strategy provides access to a family of porphyrin arrays for studies of photophysical processes in supramolecular assemblies.  相似文献

The catalytic epoxidation of cyclohexene by iron(III) porphyrin complexes and H2O2 has been investigated in alcohol solvents to understand factors affecting the catalyst activity in protic solvents. The yields of cyclohexene oxide and the Fe(III/II) reduction potentials of iron porphyrin complexes were significantly affected by the protic solvents, and there was a close correlation between the product yields and the reduction potentials of the iron porphyrin catalysts. The role of alcohol solvents was proposed to control the electronic nature of iron porphyrin complexes that determines the catalyst activity in the epoxidation of olefins by H2O2. We have also demonstrated that an electron-deficient iron porphyrin complex can catalyze the epoxidation of olefins by H2O2 under conditions of limiting substrate with high conversion efficiency in a solvent mixture of CH3OH and CH2Cl2.  相似文献

A series of (p-phenylene)n-linked meso-mesityl-substituted porphyrin dyads (n=2-4) was prepared via Suzuki coupling of zinc(II) and free base porphyrin building blocks. The resulting zinc(II)/free base porphyrin dyads were demetalated. The series of free base porphyrin dimers (n=1-4), four other porphyrin dimers (with p-phenylene, diphenylethyne or diphenylbutadiyne linkers; and aryl or tridec-7-yl meso substituents), and several benchmark monomers were converted to the thallium(III)chloride complexes under mild conditions. The collection of eight Tl(III)Cl/Tl(III)Cl dimers is designed for studies of ground-state hole-transfer processes and comparison with the excited-state energy- and hole-transfer processes of the corresponding Zn(II)/free base dyads. Altogether, 18 new porphyrin arrays and benchmark monomers have been prepared.  相似文献

Two new cyclic hexameric arrays of porphyrins have been prepared in a rational, convergent manner. The porphyrins in each cyclic hexamer are joined by diphenylethyne linkers affording a wheel-like array with a diameter of approximately 35 A. One array is comprised of five zinc (Zn) porphyrins and one free base (Fb) porphyrin (cyclo-Zn(5)FbU) while the other is comprised of an alternating sequence of two Zn porphyrins and one Fb porphyrin (cyclo-Zn(2)FbZn(2)FbU). The prior synthesis employed a one-flask template-directed process and afforded alternating Zn and Fb porphyrins or all Zn porphyrins. More diverse metalation patterns are attractive for manipulating the flow of excited-state energy in the arrays. The rational synthesis of each array employed three Pd-mediated coupling reactions with four tetraarylporphyrin building blocks bearing diethynyl, diiodo, bromo/iodo, or iodo/ethynyl groups. The final ring closure yielding the cyclic hexamer was achieved by reaction of a porphyrin pentamer + porphyrin monomer or the joining of two porphyrin trimers. In the presence of a tripyridyl template, the yields of the 5 + 1 and 3 + 3 reactions ranged from 10 to 13%. The 5 + 1 reaction in the absence of the template proceeded in 3.5% yield, thereby establishing the structure-directed contribution to cyclic hexamer formation. The 3 + 3 route relied on successive ethyne + iodo/bromo coupling reactions. One template-directed route to cyclo-Zn(2)FbZn(2)FbU employed a magnesium porphyrin, affording cyclo-Zn(2)FbZn(2)MgU from which magnesium was selectively removed. The arrays exhibit absorption spectra that are nearly the sum of the spectra of the component parts, indicating weak electronic coupling. Fluorescence spectroscopy showed that the quantum yield of energy transfer in toluene at room temperature from the Zn porphyrins to the Fb porphyrin(s) was 60% in cyclo-Zn(5)FbU and 90% in cyclo-Zn(2)FbZn(2)FbU. Two dipyridyl-substituted porphyrins, a Zn tetraarylporphyrin and a Fb oxaporphyrin, have been synthesized for use as guests in the cyclic hexamers, affording self-assembled arrays for light-harvesting studies.  相似文献

Prior syntheses of porphyrins bearing meso-formyl groups have generally employed the Vilsmeier formylation of an acid-resistant copper or nickel porphyrin. A new approach for the synthesis of free base porphyrins bearing one or two (cis or trans) meso-formyl substituents entails the use of a dipyrromethane bearing an acetal group at the 5-position, a dipyrromethane-1-carbinol bearing an acetal group at the 5-position or carbinol position, or a dipyrromethane-1,9-dicarbinol bearing an acetal group at a carbinol position. Treatment of the resulting meso-acetal-substituted free base porphyrin to gentle acidic hydrolysis yields the corresponding meso-formyl porphyrin.  相似文献

A series of N‐confused free‐base meso‐substituted tetraarylporphyrins was investigated by electrochemistry and spectroelectrochemistry in nonaqueous media containing 0.1 M tetra‐n‐butylammonium perchlorate (TBAP) and added acid or base. The investigated compounds are represented as (XPh)4NcpH2, in which “Ncp” is the N‐confused porphyrin macrocycle and X is a OCH3, CH3, H, or Cl substituent on the para position of each meso‐phenyl ring of the macrocycle. Two distinct types of UV/Vis spectra are initially observed depending upon solvent, one corresponding to an inner‐2H form and the other to an inner‐3H form of the porphyrin. Both forms have an inverted pyrrole with a carbon inside the cavity and a nitrogen on the periphery of the π‐system. Each porphyrin undergoes multiple irreversible reductions and oxidations. The first one‐electron addition and first one‐electron abstraction are located on the porphyrin π‐ring system to give π‐anion and π‐cation radicals with a potential separation of 1.52 to 1.65 V between the two processes, but both electrogenerated products are unstable and undergo a rapid chemical reaction to give new electroactive species, which were characterized in the present study. The effect of the solvent and protonation/deprotonation reactions on the UV/Vis spectra, redox potentials and reduction/oxidation mechanisms is discussed with comparisons made to data and mechanisms for the structurally related free‐base corroles and porphyrins.  相似文献

The analytical separation of the indium and manganese complexes of three synthetic, meso-substituted, water-soluble porphyrins from their respective free bases in metallation reaction mixtures is described. The ligands tetra-3N-methylpyridyl porphyrin, tetra-4N-methylpyridyl porphyrin and tetra-N,N,N-trimethylanilinium porphyrin are complexed with In (III) and Mn (III) and are separated from residual free base by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) in acidic conditions with gradient elution on ODS bonded stationary phase. Electrophoretic separation is achieved on both cellulose polyacetate strips and polyacrylamide tube gels under basic conditions. Although analytical separations can be achieved by both HPLC and electrophoresis, only HPLC is suitable for the development of preparative scale separations. Column chromatography, ion-pairing and ion-suppression HPLC techniques fail to separate such highly charged and closely related aromatic compounds.  相似文献

Several cobalt nitrosyl porphyrins of the form (T(p/m-X)PP)Co(NO) (p/m-X = p-OCH(3) (1), p-CH(3) (2), m-CH(3) (3), p-H (4), m-OCH(3) (5), p-OCF(3) (6), p-CF(3) (7), p-CN (8)) have been synthesized in 30-85% yields by reaction of the precursor cobalt porphyrin with nitric oxide. Compounds 1-7 were also prepared by reaction of the precursor cobalt porphyrin with nitrosonium tetrafluoroborate followed by reduction with cobaltocene. Compounds 1-8 have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR and (1)H NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and UV-vis spectrophotometry. They are diamagnetic and display nu(NO) bands in CH(2)Cl(2) between 1681 and 1695 cm(-)(1). The molecular structure of 1, determined by a single-crystal X-ray crystallographic analysis, reveals a Co-N-O angle of 119.6(4) degrees. Crystals of 1 are monoclinic, P2/c, with a = 15.052(1) ?, b = 9.390(1) ?, c = 16.274(2) ?, beta = 111.04(1) degrees, V = 2146.8(4) ?(3), Z = 2, T = 228(2) K, D(calcd) = 1.271 g cm(-)(3), and final R1 = 0.0599 (wR2 = 0.1567, GOF = 1.054) for 3330 "observed" reflections with I >/= 2sigma(I). Cyclic voltammetry studies in CH(2)Cl(2) reveal that compounds 1-7 undergo two reversible oxidations and two reversible reductions at low temperature. This is not the case for compound 8, which undergoes two reversible reductions but an irreversible oxidation due to adsorption of the oxidized product onto the electrode surface. Combined electrochemistry-infrared studies demonstrate that each of the compounds 1-7 undergoes a first oxidation at the porphyrin pi ring system and a first reduction at either the metal center or the nitrosyl axial ligand. The formulation for the singly oxidized products of compounds 1-7 as porphyrin pi-cation radicals was confirmed by the presence of bands in the 1289-1294 cm(-)(1) region (for compounds 1-5), which are diagnostic IR bands for generation of tetraarylporphyrin pi-cation radicals.  相似文献
