The equilibrium geometries, vibrational frequencies, and dissociation energies of rare gas iodine clusters Rg2I?(Rg = Ar, Kr, Xe) were calculated at the Hartree–Fock (HF), second‐order Møller–Plesset (MP2), the coupled cluster method with single and double excitation and a noniterative correction for triple excitations method [CCSD(T)] levels. The title species have bent C2v structure of about 60° angle. The electron correlation effects and relativistic effects on the geometry and stability were investigated at CCSD(T) level. Both effects stabilize title species. The calculated electron affinities are in good agreement with the experimental results available. The effect of high angular momentum functions (g and h) was studied. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Quantum Chem, 2006  相似文献

Rare gas containing protonated nitrogen cations, HRgN(2)(+) (Rg=He, Ar, Kr, and Xe), have been predicted using quantum computational methods. HRgN(2)(+) ions exhibit linear structure (C(∞v) symmetry) at the minima and show planar structure (C(s) symmetry) at the transition state. The stability is determined by computing the energy differences between the predicted ions and its various unimolecular dissociation products. Analysis of energy diagram indicates that HXeN(2)(+) is thermodynamically stable with respect to dissociated products while HHeN(2)(+), HArN(2)(+), and HKrN(2)(+) ions are metastable with small barrier heights. Moreover, the computed intrinsic reaction coordinate analysis also confirms that the minima and the 2-body global dissociation products are connected through transition states for the metastable ions. The coupled-cluster theory computed dissociation energies corresponding to the 2-body dissociation (HN(2)(+) + Rg) is -288.4, -98.3, -21.5, and 41.4 kJ mol(-1) for HHeN(2)(+), HArN(2)(+), HKrN(2)(+), and HXeN(2)(+) ions, respectively. The dissociation energies are positive for all the other channels implying that the predicted ions are stable with respect to other 2- and 3-body dissociation channels. Atoms-in-molecules analysis indicates that predicted ions may be best described as HRg(+)N(2). It should be noted that the energetic of HXeN(2)(+) ion is comparable to that of the experimentally observed stable mixed cations, viz. (RgHRg')(+). Therefore, it may be possible to prepare and characterize HXeN(2)(+) ions in an electron bombardment matrix isolation technique.  相似文献

Rare gas containing cations with general formula [Rg, B, 2F](+) have been investigated theoretically by second-order Mo?ller-Plesset perturbation, coupled cluster, and complete active space self-consistent field levels of theory with correlation-consistent basis sets. Totally two types of minima, i.e., boron centered C(2) (v) symmetried RgBF(2) (+) (Rg = Ar, Kr, and Xe) which can be viewed as loss of F(-) from FRgBF(2) and linear FRgBF(+) (Rg = Kr and Xe) are obtained at the CCSD(T)∕aug-cc-pVTZ∕SDD and CASSCF(10,8)∕aug-cc-pVTZ∕SDD levels, respectively. It is shown that the RgBF(2) (+) are global minima followed by FRgBF(+) at 170.9 and 142.2 kcal∕mol on the singlet potential-energy surfaces of [Rg, B, 2F](+) (Rg = Kr and Xe) at the CASPT2(10,8) ∕aug-cc-pVTZ∕SDD∕∕CASSCF(10,8)∕aug-cc-pVTZ∕SDD, respectively. The interconversion barrier heights between RgBF(2) (+) and FRgBF(+) (Rg = Kr and Xe) are at least 39 kcal∕mol. In addition, no dissociation transition state associated with RgBF(2) (+) and FRgBF(+) can be found. This suggests that RgBF(2) (+) (Rg = Ar, Kr, and Xe) can exist as both thermodynamically and kinetically stable species, while linear FRgBF(+) (Rg = Kr and Xe) can exist as metastable species compared with the lowest dissociation limit energies just like isoelectronic linear FRgBO and FRgBN(-). From natural bond orbital and atoms-in-molecules calculations, it is found that the positive charge is mainly located on Rg and boron atoms for both types of minima, the Rg-B bonds of ArBF(2) (+), KrBF(2) (+), and XeBF(2) (+) are mostly electrostatic, thus can be viewed as ion-induced dipole interaction; while that of linear FKrBF(+) and FXeBF(+) are covalent in nature. The previous experimental observation of ArBF(2) (+) by Pepi et al. [J. Phys. Chem. B. 110, 4492 (2006)] should correspond to C(2) (v) minimum. The presently predicted spectroscopies of KrBF(2) (+), XeBF(2) (+), FKrBF(+), and FXeBF(+) should be helpful for their experimental identification in the future.  相似文献

Using crossed beams of metastable rare gas atoms Rg*(ms3 P 2,3 P 0) (Rg=Ne, Ar, Kr, Xe) and ground state sodium atoms Na(3s 2 S 1/2), we have measured the energy spectra of electrons released in the respective Penning ionization processes at thermal collision energies. For Rg*(3 P 2)+Na(3s), the spectra are quite similar for the different rare gases, both in width and shape; they reflect attractive interactions in the entrance channel with well depthsD* e [meV] decreasing slowly from Rg=Ne to Xe as follows: 676(18); 602(23); 565(26); 555(30). For Rg*(3 P 0)+Na(3s), the spectra vary strongly with the rare gas, indicating a change in the character of the interaction from van der Waals type attraction (Ne) to chemical binding for Kr and Xe with well depthsD* e [meV] of: 51(19); 107(25); 432(30); 530(50). These findings are explained through model calculations of the respective potential curves, in which the exchange and the spin orbit interaction in the excited rare gas and the molecular interaction between the two valences-electrons in terms of suitably chosen singlet and triplet potentials are taken into account. These calculations also explain qualitatively the experimental finding that the ratiosq 2/q 0 of the ionization cross sections for Rg*(3 P 2)+Na and Rg*(3 P 0)+Na vary strongly with the rare gas from Ne to Xe as follows: 15.8(3.2); 2.6(4); 1.4(2); 1.6(4).  相似文献

The structure and stability of the compounds MRg$^+$ and MRgF (Rg=Ar, Kr, and Xe; M=Co, Rh, and Ir) were investigated using the B3LYP, MP2, MP4(SDQ) and CCSD(T) methods. We reported the geometry, vibrational frequencies and thermodynamics properties of these compounds. A series of theoretical methods on the basis of wavefunction analysis, including natural bond orbitals, atoms in molecules, electron localization function, and energy decomposition analysis, were performed to explore bonding nature of the M$-$Rg and Rg$-$F bonds. These bonds are mainly noncovalent, the metal weakly interacts with Rg in MRg$^+$, but their interaction is much stronger in MRgF. The neutral molecule MRgF can be well described by the Lewis structure [MRg]$^+$F$^-$.  相似文献

Evidence is presented that there is a clear covalent component in the bonding of Au+ to Kr and Au+ to Xe, with some evidence that there may be such bonding between Au+ and Ar; for Au+ and Ne, there is no such evidence, and the bonding seems to be entirely physical. A model potential analysis shows that when all attractive inductive and dispersive terms out to R-8 are properly included in the Au+-Ne case, with an Ae(-bR) Born-Mayer repulsive term, essentially all the bonding in Au+-Ne can be rationalized by physical attraction alone. This is consistent with a natural bond order (NBO) analysis of the Au+-Ne ab initio wavefunctions, which shows the charge on Au+ to be very close to 1.0. In contrast, similar model potential and NBO analyses show quite clearly that physical interactions alone cannot account for the large bond energy values for the Au+-Kr and Au+-Xe complexes and are consistent with covalent contributions to the Au+-Kr and Au+-Xe interactions. Au+-Ar is seen to lie on the borderline between these two limits. In performing the model potential analyses, high-level ab initio calculations are employed [CCSD(T) energies, extrapolated to the complete basis set limit], to obtain reliable values of Re, De and omegae as input. A comparison of the gold-Xe bond distances in several solid-state Au(I, II and III) oxidation-state complex ions, containing "ligand" Xe atoms, prepared by Seppelt and co-workers, with that of the "free" Au+-Xe gas-phase ion is made, and a discussion of the trends is presented.  相似文献

We have investigated the binding of noble-gas (Ng) atoms (Ng=Ar,Kr,Xe) with Pt atom by the ab initio coupled-cluster CCSD(T) method, taking into account the relativistic effects. It is shown that two Ng atoms can bind with Pt atom in linear geometry in the singlet lowest state where the second Ng atom attaches to Pt with the larger binding energy than the first Ng atom. The binding energy is evaluated as 8.2, 17.9, and 33.4 kcal/mol for Ar-Pt-Ar, Kr-Pt-Kr, and Xe-Pt-Xe, respectively, relative to the triplet ground state of the dissociation limit Pt ((3)D)+2Ng. The present results indicate that these Ng-Pt-Ng compounds are possible new gas-phase or matrix species.  相似文献

An ab initio computational study of the properties of four linear dihydrogen-bonded complexes pairing MH2 (M = Zn, Cd) with HCCRgF (Rg = Ar, Kr) was undertaken at the MP2/DGDZVP level of theory. The calculated complexation energies of the linear complexes vary between 6.5 kJ/mol for M = Zn to 8.5 kJ/mol for M = Cd. Equilibrium interatomic H...H distances are roughly 2.07 A for all four complexes. The red shifts of the H-C stretching frequency of HCCRgF correlate nicely with the interaction energies.  相似文献

We have employed (2+1) resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization spectroscopy to record electronic absorption spectra of NO-Rg (Rg=Ne,Ar,Kr) van der Waals complexes. The nitric oxide molecule is the chromophore, and the excitation corresponds to an electron being promoted from the 2ppi* orbital to 3dsigma, 3dpi, and 3ddelta Rydberg states. We review the ordering of the 3dlambda states of NO and use this as a basis for discussing the 3d components in the NO-Rg complexes, in terms of the interactions between the Rydberg electron, the core, and the Rg atom. Predissociation of the H' 2Pi state occurs through the F2Delta state for NO-Ar and NO-Kr, and this will be considered. We shall also outline problems encountered when trying to record similar spectra for NO-Xe, related to the presence of atomic Xe resonances.  相似文献

The shift in the harmonic vibrational frequency of the ArH stretch of FArH on formation of the linear FArH...Rg complexes (Rg=He, Ne, Ar, Kr), and of the FH stretch on formation of the linear FH...Rg complexes, has been determined by ab initio computations. These shifts are in agreement with predictions from a model based on perturbation theory and involving the first and second derivatives of the interaction energy with respect to displacement of the ArH (FH) bond length from its equilibrium value in the monomer. In the FH...Rg dimers, small blue shifts were obtained for the He and Ne complexes and red shifts for those with Ar and Kr. In the FArH...Rg dimers, blue shifts were obtained for all four complexes. These vibrational characteristics are rationalized by considering the balance between the interaction energy derivatives obtained from the perturbative model. The bond length changes on complexation are also well predicted by the model. Our computations were restricted to the linear geometry since the objective was to investigate the validity of the perturbation model and to illuminate the causes of the red and blue shifts.  相似文献

The matrix isolation infrared spectroscopic and quantum chemical calculation results indicate that late transition metal monoxides CrO through NiO coordinate one noble gas atom in forming the NgMO complexes (Ng = Ar, Kr, Xe; M = Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni) in solid noble gas matrixes. Hence, the late transition metal monoxides previously characterized in solid noble gas matrixes should be regarded as the NgMO complexes, which were predicted to be linear. The M-Ng bond distances decrease, while the M-Ng binding energies increase from NgCrO to NgNiO. In contrast, the early transition metal monoxides, ScO, TiO, and VO, are not able to form similar noble gas atom complexes.  相似文献

The large dipole moment and the negative dipole moment derivatives with respect to H–Rg displacement of the neutral HRgX (Rg=He, Ar, Kr; X=F, Cl) molecules have been rationalised by a charge/charge flux/dipole flux decomposition of the charge density using the ChelpG method. This approach was also applied to the hydrogen halides HF and HCl for the sake of comparison. It was found that the dipole moment of HRgX is dominated by the large positive charge contribution while the negative dipole moment derivative of HRgX is due to the dominance of the negative charge flux contribution.  相似文献

Steric effect for the formation of N 2 (B, (3)Pi u ) in the energy transfer reaction of Kr ( (3)P 2) + N 2 has been measured using an oriented Kr ( (3)P 2, M J = 2) beam at a collision energy of 0.07 eV. The N 2 (B, (3)Pi u ) emission intensity was measured as a function of the magnetic orientation field direction in the collision frame. A significant atomic alignment effect on the energy transfer probability was observed. This result was compared with that for the formation of N 2 (C, (3)Pi g ) in the Ar ( (3)P 2) + N 2 reaction. Despite the large difference on the energy transfer cross-section, the atomic alignment dependence for Kr ( (3)P 2) + N 2 is found to be analogous to that for Ar ( (3)P 2) + N 2. It is revealed that the configuration of inner 4p (3p) orbital in the collision frame gives an important role for the stereoselectivity on electron transfer process via the curve-crossing mechanism.  相似文献

The fluorine-less noble gas containing anions OBONgO and OCNNgO have been studied by correlated electronic structure calculation and density functional theory. The obtained energetics indicates that for Ng=Kr and Xe, these anions should be kinetically stable at low temperature. The molecular structures and electron density distribution suggests that these anions are stabilized by ion-induced dipole interactions with charges concentrated on the electronegative OBO and OCN groups. The current study shows that in addition to the fluoride ion, polyatomic groups with strong electronic affinities can also form stable noble gas containing anions of the type Y…NgO.  相似文献

Noble‐gas‐noble‐metal hydroxides NgAuOH (Ng = Kr, Xe) are investigated at the MP2 theoretical level. All species are found to be in Cs symmetry with an approximate linear Ng? Au? O moiety. The noble‐gas‐noble‐metal bond lengths are comparable with covalent limits, and the corresponding binding energies have been computed to be 59.6 and 83.4 kJ/mol for KrAuOH and XeAuOH, respectively. Except the charge‐induced dipole contribution to the binding energies, the remainder could be ascribed to the higher‐order charge‐induction energies, dispersion energies, the contributions of multipole moments on AuOH and covalent effects. The title species are sufficiently chemical bound and are expected to be stable species theoretically. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Quantum Chem, 2008  相似文献

We have obtained interaction dipole moment curves for the rare gas heterodiatoms Rg...Xe (Rg = He, Ne, Ar, and Kr) from conventional ab initio and density functional theory calculations with flexible Gaussian-type basis sets. All methods seem to reproduce fairly similar dipole moment curves for all pairs. Our best values for the interaction dipole moment (at the respective experimental equilibrium separation R e) were obtained at the coupled-cluster theory with single, double, and perturbatively linked triple excitations level of theory: μint(RgXe)/eα0 = − 0.0025(He), − 0.0047(Ne), − 0.0055(Ar), and − 0.0037(Kr). The same trend (in absolute terms) is observed at the MP2 level of theory for the derivative of the dipole moment at R e, as (dμint (RgXe)/dR) e /e = 0.0043 (He), 0.0082 (Ne), 0.0091 (Ar), and 0.0059 (Kr). Around R e , μint(HeXe) ≡ μHeXe varies at the MP2 level of theory as [μHeXe(R) − μHeXe(R e)]/ea0 = 0.0043(RR e) − 0.0033(RR e)2 + 0.0018(RR e)3 − 0.0005(RR e)4.  相似文献

The recent discovery of the all‐boron fullerenes or borospherenes, D2d B40?/0, paves the way for borospherene chemistry. Here we report a density functional theory study on the viability of metalloborospherenes: endohedral M@B40 (M=Ca, Sr) and exohedral M&B40 (M=Be, Mg). Extensive global structural searches indicate that Ca@B40 ( 1 , C2v, 1A1) and Sr@B40 ( 3 , D2d, 1A1) possess almost perfect endohedral borospherene structures with a metal atom at the center, while Be&B40 ( 5 , Cs, 1A′) and Mg&B40 ( 7 , Cs, 1A′) favor exohedral borospherene geometries with a η7‐M atom face‐capping a heptagon on the waist. Metalloborospherenes provide indirect evidence for the robustness of the borospherene structural motif. The metalloborospherenes are characterized as charge‐transfer complexes (M2+B402?), where an alkaline earth metal atom donates two electrons to the B40 cage. The high stability of endohedral Ca@B40 ( 1 ) and Sr@B40 ( 3 ) is due to the match in size between the host cage and the dopant. Bonding analyses indicate that all 122 valence electrons in the systems are delocalized as σ or π bonds, being distributed evenly on the cage surface, akin to the D2d B40 borospherene.  相似文献
