In association with multi-inhomogeneity problems, a special class of eigenstrains is discovered to give rise to disturbance stresses of interesting nature. Some previously unnoticed properties of Eshelby’s tensors prove useful in this accomplishment. Consider the set of nested similar ellipsoidal domains {Ω1, Ω2,⋯,Ω N+1}, which are embedded in an infinite isotropic medium. Suppose that

The present theory not only provides a general framework for handling a broad range of nonuniform distribution of eigenstrains exactly, but also has great implications in employing the equivalent inclusion method (EIM) to study the behavior of composites with functionally graded reinforcements. An efficient algorithm is proposed enabling numerical simulations of plasma dynamics in a nonuniform magnetic field. The magnetoelastic stress-strain problem for a transversely isotropic ferromagnetic body with an elliptical crack in the isotropy plane is solved explicitly. The body is in an external magnetic field perpendicular to the isotropy plane. The magnetic field induces elastic strains and an internal magnetic field in the body. The main characteristics of stress-strain state and induced magnetic field are determined and their features in the neighborhood of the crack are analyzed. A method is developed for analysis of the elastoplastic stress-strain state of laminated shells of revolution under axisymmetric loading. The shells are made of isotropic and transversally isotropic materials with different moduli. The method is based on the Kirchhoff-Love hypotheses for the whole laminate, the theory of deformation along paths of small curvature (for isotropic materials), and the theory of elasticity with different tensile and compressive moduli (transversely isotropic materials). An approach is considered to how to allow for the interaction between an ellipsoidal heterogeneity (inclusion) and an elliptic crack in an elastic medium. Using the superposition of perturbed stress states, the boundary conditions are satisfied on the ellipsoidal surface by the method of equivalent inclusion and on the crack surface by the least-squares method. A numerical analysis is carried out. Typical mechanical effects are revealed. In the calculations, the stress state near the ellipsoidal heterogeneity is approximated by a polynomial of the second degree in Cartesian coordinates, whereas the load on the crack surface is simulated by a polynomial of the fourth degree in Cartesian coordinates. The problem on the spatial stress–strain state of a nonthin transversally isotropic plate with a curvilinear nearly circular opening is considered. The plate is assumed to be subject to bending moments on the opening contour and at infinity. To solve the problem, it is proposed to make mutual use of two well-know methods — expansion of the displacement and stress components into Fourier series in Legendre polynomials of the thickness coordinate and boundary-shape perturbation. The stress-concentration problem for an elastic orthotropic medium containing an ellipsoidal cavity is solved. The stress state in the elastic space is represented as a superposition of the principal state and the perturbed state due to the cavity. The equivalent-inclusion method, the triple Fourier transform in spatial variables, and the Fourier-transformed Green function for an infinite medium are used. Classical elasticity is concerned with bodies that can be modeled as smooth manifolds endowed with a reference metric that represents local equilibrium distances between neighboring material elements. The elastic energy associated with the configuration of a body in classical elasticity is the sum of local contributions that arise from a discrepancy between the actual metric and the reference metric. In contrast, the modeling of defects in solids has traditionally involved extra structure on the material manifold, notably torsion to quantify the density of dislocations and non-metricity to represent the density of point defects. We show that all the classical defects can be described within the framework of classical elasticity using tensor fields that only assume a metric structure. Specifically, bodies with singular defects can be viewed as affine manifolds; both disclinations and dislocations are captured by the monodromy that maps curves that surround the loci of the defects into affine transformations. Finally, we showthat two dimensional defectswith trivial monodromy are purely local in the sense that if we remove from the manifold a compact set that contains the locus of the defect, the punctured manifold can be isometrically embedded in a Euclidean space.  相似文献
