In this communication, we demonstrate for the first time the proof of concept that single-walled carbon nanohorns can be used as an effective fluorescent sensing platform for nucleic acid detection with a high selectivity down to single-base mismatch.  相似文献

A new dispersive micro solid-phase extraction method which uses single-walled carbon nanohorns (SWNHs) as sorbent is proposed. The procedure combines the excellent sorbent properties of the nanoparticles with the efficiency of the dispersion of the material in the sample matrix. Under these conditions, the interaction with the analytes is maximized. The determination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons was selected as model analytical problem. Two dispersion strategies were evaluated, being the functionalization via microwave irradiation better than the use of a surfactant. The extraction was accomplished by adding 1 mL of oxidized SWHNs (o-SWNHs) dispersion to 10 mL of water sample. After extraction, the mixture was passed through a disposable Nylon filter were the nanoparticles enriched with the PAHs were retained. The elution was carried out with 100 μL of hexane. The limits of detection achieved were between 30 and 60 ng L−1 with a precision (as repeatability) better than 12.5%. The recoveries obtained for the analytes in three different water samples were acceptable in all instances. The performance of o-SWNHs was favourably compared with that provided by carboxylated single-walled carbon nanotubes and thermally treated carbon nanocones.  相似文献

The effect of aggregation on surfactant-suspended individual single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) Raman spectroscopy has been explored in the context of dielectrophoretic separation. The Raman spectra of individual surfactant-suspended HiPco SWNTs deposited on a substrate and the same suspension deposited via dielectrophoresis were compared as a function of iterative aggregation states. The evolution of the samples' radial breathing modes and tangential modes at multiple excitation wavelengths (514, 633, and 785 nm) illustrates a direct correlation between changes in the Raman spectra and a broadening and downshifting of resonance transition energies. Dielectrophoresis samples exhibited Raman changes similar to control samples, indicating characterization of electronic separation is compromised by aggregation effects.  相似文献

We report a simple method for the direct and quantitative determination of L-tryptophan (Trp) and L-tyrosine (Tyr) using a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) modified with single-walled carbon nanohorns (SWCNHs). The SWCNH modified GCE exhibits high electrocatalytic activity towards the oxidation of both Trp and Tyr. It shows a linear response to Trp between 0.5 and 50 μM and to Tyr between 2 and 30 μM. The detection limits for Trp and Tyr are 50 nM and 400 nM, respectively. In addition, the modified GCE displays good selectivity and good sensitivity, thus making it suitable for the determination of Trp and Tyr in spiked serum samples.

The electrochemical sensor based on single-walled carbon nanohorns modified glassy carbon electrode was presented. Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) were modified by oxyfluorination treatment at several different temperatures of 20, 100, 200, and 300 °C. The changes of surface properties of oxyfluorinated MWNTs were investigated using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) method. As a result, it was found that surface fluorine contents were varied with changing an oxyfluorination temperature and showed a maximum value at 100 °C. By changing the treatment temperature in the process of oxyfluorination for carbon supports, the surface characteristics of MWNTs had been modified, resulting that the size and loading content of deposited Pt on the modified carbon supports could be changed. Consequently, Pt deposited MWNTs that were treated at 100 °C (Pt/100-MWNTs) showed the best electroactivity among samples. The enhanced electroactivity was dependent on the higher surface area of electrochemical reaction for metal catalyst, which was related to the particle size and the morphology of the deposited particle catalysts.  相似文献

Uniform and small-diameter single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) have been produced using identical molecular nanoclusters containing Fe and Mo atoms with a defined molecular formula and a specific structure as catalysts in a chemical vapor deposition method. The average diameter of the SWNTs produced in these experiments is 1.0 nm with a standard deviation for the diameter distribution of 17%. The diameters of SWNTs were obtained by atomic force microscopy and Raman spectroscopy.  相似文献

In the present paper we describe a new way for the covalent functionalization of carbon nanohorns by means of anionic polymerization with the "grafting to" approach. Polyisoprene homopolymers, as well as polyisoprene-b-polystyrene block copolymers have been attached on the surface of carbon nanohorns. The functionalized carbon nanostructures have been fully characterized by means of complementary spectroscopic techniques, electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and light scattering.  相似文献

H(2) and D(2) adsorption on single-wall carbon nanohorns (SWNHs) have been measured at 77 K, and the experimental data were compared with grand canonical Monte Carlo simulations for adsorption of these hydrogen isotopes on a model SWNH. Quantum effects were included in the simulations through the Feynman-Hibbs effective potential. The simulation predictions show good agreement with the experimental results and suggest that the hydrogen isotope adsorption at 77 K can be successfully explained with the use of the effective potential. According to the simulations, the hydrogen isotopes are preferentially adsorbed in the cone part of the SWNH with a strong potential field, and quantum effects cause the density of adsorbed H(2) inside the SWNH to be 8-26% smaller than that of D(2). The difference between H(2) and D(2) adsorption increases as pressure decreases because the quantum spreading of H(2), which is wider than that of D(2), is fairly effective at the narrow conical part of the SWNH model. These facts indicate that quantum effects on hydrogen adsorption depend on pore structures and are very important even at 77 K.  相似文献

This paper evaluates the potential of oxidized single-walled carbon nanohorns (o-SWNHs) immobilized on the pores of a hollow fiber (HF) for the direct immersion solid-phase microextraction of triazines from waters. The fabrication of the device requires the oxidation of the nanoparticles by means of microwave irradiation in order to obtain a homogeneous dispersion in methanol. Then, a porous hollow fiber is immersed in the methanolic dispersion of the o-SWNHs under ultrasound stirring. This procedure permits the immobilization of the o-SWNHs in the pores of the hollow fiber. For the extraction, a stainless steel wire was introduced inside the fiber to allow the vertical immersion of the o-SWNHs-HF in the aqueous standard/water sample. The triazines were preconcentrated on the immobilized o-SWNHs and further eluted using 150 μL of methanol. The solvent was evaporated and the residue reconstituted in 10 μL of methanol for sensitivity enhancement. Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry was selected as instrumental technique. The limits of detection were between 0.05 and 0.1 μg?L?1 with an excellent precision (expressed as relative standard deviation) between runs (below 10.2 %) and between fibers (below 12.8 %). Finally, the method was applied to the determination of the triazines in fortified waters, an average recovery value of 90 % being obtained.  相似文献

We report a nanocarbon material with nanodiamond(ND) core and graphene shell(ND@G) as a support for Pd nanocatalysts. The designed catalyst performed good selectivity of styrene(85.2%) at full conversion of phenylacetylene and superior stability under mild conditions. Supported Pd catalysts are characterized by means of high resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM), Raman, X-ray diffraction(XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) and H_2 temperature-programmed reduction(H_2-TPR).The results clearly show that formation of the strong metal-support interaction(SMSI) between Pd nanoclusters and the defective graphene shell helpfully modifies the selectivity and stability of the Pd-based catalysts.  相似文献

We demonstrate the physical principles for the construction of a nanometer-sized magnetoresistance device based on the Aharonov-Bohm effect [Phys. Rev. 115, 485 (1959)]. The proposed device is made of a short single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) placed on a substrate and coupled to a tip/contacts. We consider conductance due to the motion of electrons along the circumference of the tube (as opposed to the motion parallel to its axis). We find that the circumference conductance is sensitive to magnetic fields threading the SWCNT due to the Aharonov-Bohm effect, and show that by retracting the tip/contacts, so that the coupling to the SWCNT is reduced, very high sensitivity to the threading magnetic field develops. This is due to the formation of a narrow resonance through which the tunneling current flows. Using a bias potential the resonance can be shifted to low magnetic fields, allowing the control of conductance with magnetic fields of the order of 1 T.  相似文献

We present in this report a new type of particles with micrometer-order sizes, which we called giant graphitic balls (GG balls). The GG balls are produced by CO2 laser ablation of graphite together with single-wall carbon nanohorns. They have graphitic structures whose layers tend to align parallel with the GG-ball surfaces, resulting in polygonal-like arrangements. Comparing the GG-ball structure with that of the previously reported polygonal graphite-particles, the growth mechanism of the GG ball is discussed briefly.  相似文献

This paper describes the synthesis, characterization and applications of palladium (Pd) nanoparticles supported on siliceous mesocellular foam (MCF). Pd nanoparticles of 2-3 nm and 4-6 nm were used in reactions involving molecular hydrogen (such as hydrogenation of double bonds and reductive amination), transfer hydrogenation of ketones and epoxides, and coupling reactions (such as Heck and Suzuki reactions). They successfully catalyzed all these reactions with excellent yield and selectivity. This heterogeneous catalyst was easily recovered by filtration, and recycled several times without any significant loss in activity and selectivity. The palladium leaching in the reactions was determined to be much less than the FDA-approved limit of 5 ppm. Furthermore, the catalyst can be stored and handled under normal atmospheric conditions. This immobilized catalyst allows for ease of recovery/reuse and minimization of waste generation, which are of great interest in the development of green chemical processes.  相似文献
