Two classic nonionic surfactants — C14E7 (heptaethylene glycol monotetradecyl ether) and C10E7 (heptaethylene glycol monodecyl ether) were investigated in heavy water solution for concentration c = 0.17% (dilute regime) at different temperatures in the range t = 10–35°C by small angle neutron scattering (SANS) method. In the case of C14E7 surfactant — for all temperatures at c = 0.17% there are two axial ellipsoidal micelles with longer axis 15 nm at 10°C and 49.5 nm at 35°C in investigated solutions. For C10E7 surfactant at the same concentration of solution and temperature — two axial ellipsoidal micelles were observed, too. The longer axis is equal to 7.5 nm at 10°C, 9 nm at 20°C and at 35°C this axis is equal to 12 nm. Micelles of C10E7 nonionic surfactant are smaller than those of C14E7 surfactant in the same experimental conditions.   相似文献

Small angle neutron scattering studies (SANS) were carried out to understand the formation of third phase in DHDECMP-dodecane-UO2(NO3)2/HNO3 system. It was observed that third phase formation takes place due to the formation of UO2(NO3)2.DHDECMP reverse micelles in the dodecane phase. SANS data obtained were interpreted with particle interaction model using Baxter sticky spheres model.   相似文献

Scanning mobility particle sizer (SMPS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) studies were conducted for TiO2 and soot particles. The TiO2 particles were produced from a premixed stagnation ethylene-oxygen-argon flame (? = 0.36) doped with titanium tetraisopropoxide. Soot was generated from a burner-stabilized premixed ethylene-oxygen-argon flame (? = 2.5). The close agreement among SMPS, TEM, and X-ray diffraction results for TiO2 nanoparticles demonstrates that the probe sampling/mobility measurement technique is accurate for on-line analysis of the size distribution of particles as small as 3 nm in diameter. In the case of soot, notable disagreement between the SMPS and TEM sizes was found and attributable to the fact that the soot taken from the flame studied herein is liquid-like and that upon deposition on the TEM grid, the primary particles do not retain their sphericity. This interpretation is supported by measurements with photo ionization aerosol mass spectrometry, small angle neutron scattering, and thermocouple particle densitometry.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Using the framework of the density functional theory, we calculated electronic, magnetic and structural properties of terbium oxide (TbO) in rocksalt (RS), cesium chloride (CsCl) and zincblende (ZB). Full potential linearized augmented plane wave (FP-LAPW) method within the local spin density approximation (LSDA) and generalized gradient (PBE-GGA) approximations are used. Magnetic and non-magnetic calculations are performed and a modified version of Becke and Johnson (mBJ) exchange potential has been used to calculate the band gaps. We found that, although TbO is stable in a ferromagnetic state, it is stable in RS phase at ambient condition. Both LSDA and PBE-GGA calculations revealed that the three structures are metallic. However, using the mBJ calculation, it is clear that RS and CsCl phases of TbO compound are metallic, while ZB phase is found to be an insulator in the spin-up case and a semiconductor in the spin-down case at ambient pressure.  相似文献

In this paper, we report theoretical investigations of structural, electronic and magnetic properties of ordered dilute ferromagnetic semiconductors Cd1−xFexS with x=0.25, 0.5 and 0.75 in zinc blende (B3) phase using all-electron full-potential linear muffin tin orbital (FP-LMTO) calculations within the density functional theory and the generalized gradient approximation. The analysis of band structures, density of states, total energy, exchange interactions and magnetic moments reveals that both the alloys may exhibit a half-metallic ferromagnetism character. The value of calculated magnetic moment per Fe impurity atom is found to be 4 μB. Moreover, we found that p-d hybridization reduces the local magnetic moment of Fe from its free space charge value of 4 μB and produces small local magnetic moments on Cd and S sites.  相似文献

Polycrystalline double perovskite LaNi1−xMnxO3 (x=0.3, 0.4, 0.5 and 0.7, which is defined as Mn03, Mn04, Mn05 and Mn07, respectively) thin films are successfully deposited on Si (1 0 0) substrates via chemical solution deposition method. Their structural and magnetic properties are measured. All the thin films are of single phase. Raman spectra indicate that relative intensity of Mn05 is stronger than that of others that can be attributed to the higher degree of B-site ordering. The low temperature magnetic moment of Mn05 is about 500 emu/cm3, which is obviously larger than that of Mn03 and Mn07 because of the long-range ordering of Mn and Ni ions in Mn05.  相似文献

We have investigated the structural, electronic and magnetic properties of the diluted magnetic semiconductor (DMS) Cd1−xMnxTe (for x=0.75 and 1.0) in the zinc blende (B3) phase by employing the ab-initio method. Calculations were performed by using the full potential linearized augmented plane wave plus local orbitals (FP-L/APW+lo) method within the frame work of spin-polarized density functional theory (SP-DFT). The electronic exchange-correlation energy is described by generalized gradient approximation (GGA). We have calculated the lattice parameters, bulk modulii and the first pressure derivatives of the bulk modulii, spin-polarized band structures, and total and local densities of states. We estimated the spin-exchange splitting energies Δx(d) and Δx(pd) produced by the Mn3d states, and we found that the effective potential for the minority spin is more attractive than that of the majority spin. We determine the s-d exchange constant N0α (conduction band) and p-d exchange constant N0β (valence band) and these somewhat agree with a typical magneto-optical experiment. The value of calculated magnetic moment per Mn impurity atom is found to be 4.08 μB for Cd0.25Mn0.75Te and 4.09 μB for Cd0.0Mn1.0Te. Moreover, we found that p-d hybridization reduces the local magnetic moment of Mn from its free space charge value of 5.0 μB and produces small local magnetic moments on the nonmagnetic Cd and Te sites.  相似文献

We report specific heat and neutron diffraction measurements of seven samples in the solid solution system UxLa1-xS. All samples have the simple fcc NaCl crystal structure. Both specific heat and neutron diffraction confirm the suggestion from the earlier magnetic measurements that the ferromagnetism disappears abruptly at 0.57. Near there is a doubling of the electronic contribution to the specific heat, as compared to the value of 23 mJ mol-1K-2 in pure US. Around the widths of the nuclear Bragg peaks show a considerable broadening, as well as anomalies in the mean lattice parameter, as compared to those expected from Vegard's law. A preliminary analysis suggests this broadening may be due to a loss of long range lattice order near . However, these changes are independent of temperature, so that further experiments are necessary before they can be associated with the changes in magnetic behavior at . Neutron diffraction and magnetic susceptibility studies of the two-dimensional coordination polymer Co(ox)(bpy-d8) are presented, where ox=C2O42− and bpy-d8=4,4′-bipyridine-d8 (fully deuterated). The neutron powder diffraction data reveal a second-order crystallographic phase transition at 290 K. Above 290 K, a disordered structure, space group Immm, is observed that is closely related to the ordered structure previously proposed on the basis of single crystal X-ray diffraction. At low temperatures, the structure is an ordered variant of the high-temperature phase with space group I222. In both phases, the Co ions are linked by the oxalate forming infinite chains that are crosslinked by the bpy ligands.The magnetic susceptibility follows qualitatively a quasi one-dimensional chain behavior. It exhibits a broad maximum around 35 K, corresponding to a strong antiferromagnetic coupling through the oxalate bridges. A kink at 9 K marks the onset of long-range antiferromagnetic ordering due to much weaker interchain magnetic interactions.The magnetically ordered structure determined from the low-temperature neutron diffraction data can be described with the propagation vector (1/2, 1/2, 1/2), i.e. a doubling of the unit cell in each principal direction. It is concluded that a significant antiferromagnetic interaction is mediated through the bpy ligands, although the Co-Co distance along these bridges is 11.4 Å.  相似文献

Six surface models for the Fe3O4(1 1 0) surface were studied using the density functional theory (DFT), namely the AB-terminated surface (AB model), the AB-terminated with FeA vacancy (AB-FeA vac model), the AB-terminated with FeB vacancy (AB-FeB vac model), the B-terminated surface (B model), the B-terminated surface with FeB vacancy (B-FeB vac model), and the B-terminated surface with O vacancy (B-O vac model). Here, A and B denoted the Fe cations in tetrahedrally (FeA) and octahedrally (FeB) coordinated interstices. The stability, the electronic structure and the magnetic properties of the six surface models were also calculated. The results predict that the B-O vac model is more stable than other surface models. The half-metallic property remains in the AB and B models, while the other four surface models exhibit metallic properties. At the same time, the AB, AB-FeA vac, AB-FeB vac, B and the B-FeB vac models have ferrimagnetic properties, while the B-O vac model has antiferromagnetic property.  相似文献

In the UxLa1-xS system there is an abrupt loss of the long-range ferromagnetic ordering found in pure US at a critical concentration x c ∼ 0.57, which is far above the percolation limit. As the magnetic ground state in such a system can be strongly affected by small variations of the 5f localization, we have investigated a set of samples with different x by polarized neutron diffraction and X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD). The neutron results are consistent with early measurements performed on pure US. Even at the lowest U content (x = 0.15, below x c ) the shape of the induced form factor (f ( Q )) is comparable with that found for x = 1 and is well reproduced by either a U4+ or a U3+ state. The ratio between the orbital and the effective spin moments in the XMCD measurements confirms this result, but the evolution of the shape at the M5 edge suggests an abrupt change in the distribution of the electrons (holes) in the 5 f density of states around x c . The effects of focal spot size and the nature of powder samples (such as heterogeneous catalysts) on the quality of data obtainable from a dispersive EXAFS experiment are characterized at ID24 of the ESRF. Using examples of supported Pd catalysts, it is shown that, for a given photon flux, massive improvements in data quality can be achieved by increasing the size of the dispersive beam in the vertical, whilst concurrently applying a methodology to account for scattering effects emanating from the samples under study. These improvements are demonstrated using progressively practical and demanding examples. Questions regarding optimal beam dimensions for the study of such materials, how to counter undesirable effects that arise from the coherence of the source, how to obtain similar results consistently across the 5–30 keV bandwidth of ID24, and whether a methodology for simultaneous normalization in dispersive EXAFS is of significant utility in such circumstances are discussed.  相似文献

In this work, we present the optimized ground state geometrical structures, electronic excitation energies and corresponding oscillation strengths of the low‐lying electronically excited states for the isolated Tce‐CH3COCOOH and Tce‐CH3C(OH)2COOH as well as their corresponding hydrogen‐bonded dimers Tce‐CH3COCOOH‐H2O and Tce‐CH3C(OH)2COOH‐H2O through time‐dependent density functional theory method. It is found that the intermolecular hydrogen bonds C=O···H‐O are strengthened in the electronically excited states of the hydrogen‐bonded dimers Tce‐CH3COCOOH‐H2O and Tce‐CH3C(OH)2COOH‐H2O, in that the excitation energies of the related excited states for the hydrogen‐bonded dimers are decreased compared with those of the corresponding monomers. The calculated results are consistent with the rules that are first demonstrated by Zhao on the excited‐state hydrogen bonding dynamics. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
