An Ising effective field theory model is presented to calculate the magnetic properties of 2D nano-islands on a nonmagnetic substrate, subject to an externally out-of-plane applied magnetic field. The system Hamiltonian contains nearest neighbor exchange interactions, single-atom magnetic anisotropies, and the Zeeman term. The calculations yield, in particular, the single site spin correlations, the magnetizations, and the isothermal susceptibilities, for the core and periphery domains of the nano-island. The choice of a spin S=1 for the atoms of the system permits the analysis of local spin fluctuations via the single site spin correlations. We investigate in this respect the effects due to the different magnetocrystalline anisotropies and reduced dimensionalities, for the core and periphery domains, and in particular the critical influence of the applied magnetic field. Detailed theoretical results are presented for the square and hexagonal lattice symmetries, with numerical applications for the 2D monolayer Co nano-islands on a Pt substrate. It is shown that the remarkable differences between the magnetic properties of the core and periphery domains in zero field are washed out when an out-of-plane field is applied. The applied field also provokes critical discontinuities for the spin correlations and magnetization reversals, for the core and periphery domains, which are especially evident for the hexagonal lattice nano-island in the range of fields of interest. The discontinuities and magnetization reversals occur over elementary temperature widths, and shift to lower temperatures with increasing field. The field-dependant isothermal susceptibilities show new features very different from those for the susceptibilities in zero field. The present Ising model does not show any blocking temperature transition to superparamagnetism. 相似文献

We consider an Ising model with random magnetic fieldh

are independent and identically distributed with a nice enough distribution, e.g., Gaussian. We will prove that (i) at high temperature, infinite volume correlation functions are independent on the boundary conditions and decay exponentially fast with probability 1 and (ii) for any temperature with sufficiently strong magnetic field the correlation functions are again independent on the boundary conditions and decay exponentially fast with probability 1. We also prove that the averaged magnetization of the ground state configuration of the one-dimensional Ising model with random magnetic field is zero, no matter how small is the variance of theh

An elastic Ising model for a one-dimensional diatomic spin chain is
proposed to explain the ferroelectricity induced by the collinear
magnetic order with a low-excited energy state. A statistical theory
based on this model is developed to calculate the electrical and
magnetic properties of Ca3CoMnO6, a typical
quasi-one-dimensional diatomic spin chain system. The calculated
ferroelectric polarization and dielectric susceptibility show a good
agreement with recently reported data on Ca3Co2-xMnxO6 (x ≈0.96) (Phys. Rev. Lett. 100 047601 (2008)), although the predicted magnetic susceptibility
does not coincide well with experiment. We also address the
rationality and deficiency of this model by including a first-order
correction which improves the consistency between the model and
experiment. 相似文献

The effects of fluctuations of the crystal field on the phase diagram of the mixed spin-1/2 and spin-1 Ising model with four-spin interactions are investigated within the finite cluster approximation based on a single-site cluster theory. The state equations are derived for the two-dimensional square lattice. It has been found that the system exhibits a variety of interesting features resulting from the fluctuation of the crystal field interactions. In particular, for low mean value D of the crystal field, the critical temperature is not very sensitive to fluctuations and all transitions are of second order for any value of the four-spin interactions. But for relatively high D, the transition temperature depends on the fluctuation of the crystal field, and the system undergoes tricritical behaviour for any strength of the four-spin interactions. We have also found that the model may exhibit reentrance for appropriate values of the system parameters. 相似文献

The fluctuations of the order parameter in the Curie-Weiss version of the Ising model with random magnetic field are computed. Away from criticality or at first-order critical points they have a Gaussian distribution with random (i. e.,sample-dependent) mean, thermal fluctuations contributing in same order as the fluctuations of the field; at second- or higher-order critical points, non-Gaussian sample-dependent distributions appear, and the fluctuations of the fields are enhanced, dominating over the thermal ones. 相似文献

We explicitly calculate the zero-field magnetic susceptibility of the anisotropic Kagomé lattice Ising model on two different varieties of the parameter space. One of them is the limitH=0 of the solubility condition, obtained in a previous paper by Giacomini, for the model with magnetic field. The other one is the disorder variety of the model, for which a dimensional reduction occurs. These varieties do not contain any nontrivial critical behavior of the model. A functional relation is also established, which relates the zero-field susceptibility for ferromagnetic and competing interactions. 相似文献

The thermodynamics of a classical lattice gas in Ising form, with arbitrary interaction, is set up in entropy format, with multipoint magnetizations as control parameters. It is specialized to the case of one- and two-point interactions on a simply connected lattice; both entropy and profile equations are written down explicitly. Linear response functions are expressed in Wertheim-Baxter factorization and used to derive the Jacobian of the transformation from couplings to magnetizations. An arbitrary spin-glass coupling distribution is transformed to the corresponding magnetization distribution, whose effect on thermodynamic properties is assessed. A Gaussian coupling-fluctuation expansion diverges at sufficiently large fluctuation amplitude, suggesting the possibility of a phase transition. 相似文献

The phase diagrams and temperature dependences of magnetizations in a transverse Ising nanowire with an antiferromagnetic spin configuration at the surface are studied by the use of the effective-field theory with correlations. A number of characteristic features, such as the possibility of reentrant phenomena being free from disorder-induced frustration, are obtained for the magnetic properties in the system. 相似文献

Some numerical results on the block spin transformation for the 2D Ising model at the critical point

The dispersion expansion for the spin correlation function in the two-dimensional Ising model with linear defects belowT
c is derived. The asymptotic behavior is computed by a steepest descent analysis. The lattice is divided into four domains with different asymptotic behaviors. In particular, the correlation length inside certain domains is a function of the defect. 相似文献

Using the method of the Jordan--Wigner transformation for solving
different spin--spin correlation functions, we have investigated the
generation of next-nearest-neighbouring entanglement in a
one-dimensional quantum Ising spin chain with the Gaussian
distribution impurities of exchange couplings and external magnetic
fields taken into account. The maximal value of entanglement
between the next-nearest-neighbouring qubits in the transverse Ising
model was analysed in detail by varying the effectively controlled
parameters such as interchange coupling, magnetic field and the
system impurity. For such systems, where both exchange couplings and
external magnetic field disorder appear, we show that it is possible
to achieve next-nearest-neighbouring entanglement better than the
previously discussed pure Ising spin chain case. We also show that
the Gaussian distribution impurity can induce
next-nearest-neighbouring entanglement, which can be used as a means
to characterize quantum phase transition. 相似文献

The magnetic properties of a hexagonal transverse Ising nanoisland have been calculated by the effective-field theory with correlations. The effects of surface coupling, interlayer coupling, and the competition between transverse fields at the surface shell and in the inner core on phase diagrams and magnetizations are examined. Meanwhile, the results are also compared with two different nanoislands which consist of two layers with nine atoms or five atoms in each of the layers. 相似文献

For L × L square lattices with L ≤ 20 the 2D Ising spin glass with +1 and −1 bonds is found to have a strong correlation between the energy and the entropy of its ground states. A fit to the data gives the result that each additional broken bond in the ground state of a particular sample of random bonds increases the ground state degeneracy by approximately a factor of 10/3. For x=0.5 (where x is the fraction of negative bonds), over this range of L, the characteristic entropy defined by the energy-entropy correlation scales with size as L
1.78(2). Anomalous scaling is not found for the characteristic energy, which essentially scales as L
2. When x=0.25, a crossover to L
2 scaling of the entropy is seen near L=12. The results found here suggest a natural mechanism for the unusual behavior of the low temperature specific heat of this model, and illustrate the dangers of extrapolating from small L.

The mixed spin-(1/2, 3/2) Ising model on a decorated square lattice, which takes into account lattice vibrations of the spin-3/2 decorating magnetic ions at a quantum-mechanical level under the assumption of a perfect lattice rigidity of the spin-1/2 nodal magnetic ions, is examined via an exact mapping correspondence with the effective spin-1/2 Ising model on a square lattice. Although the considered magnetic structure is in principle unfrustrated due to bipartite nature of a decorated square lattice, the model under investigation may display anomalous spin frustration driven by a magnetoelastic coupling. It turns out that the magnetoelastic coupling is a primary cause for existence of the frustrated antiferromagnetic phases, which exhibit a peculiar coexistence of antiferromagnetic long-range order of the nodal spins with a partial disorder of the decorating spins with possible reentrant critical behavior. Under certain conditions, the anomalous spin frustration caused by the magnetoelastic coupling is responsible for unprecedented absence of spontaneous long-range order in the mixed-spin Ising model composed from half-odd-integer spins only. 相似文献

The decorated Ising chain with pendants of arbitrary spin and the single-ion anisotropy is exactly solved by the transfer matrix method. The solutions reveal abundant novel properties than the conventional one-dimensional Ising model. It is compared with the experimental data of a necklace-like molecule-based magnet, that gives a qualitative consistency. 相似文献

Two site spin correlation function for an Ising model above Curie temperature has been calculated by generalising Bethe-Peierls
approximation. The results derived by a graphical method due to Englert are essentially the same as those obtained earlier
by Elliott and Marshall, and Oguchi and Ono. The earlier results were obtained by a direct generalisation of the cluster method
of Bethe, while our results are derived by retaining that class of diagrams, which is exact on Bethe lattice. 相似文献

The magnetization of mixed spin-1/2, 1 Ising diamond chain with antiferromagnetic spin exchange interaction has been investigated by using the Monte Carlo simulation. Magnetization behaviors with different antiferromagnetic interactions are simulated under magnetic field at low temperature. The behaviors are studied in two different cases. In one case the absolute value of the interaction between two spin-1/2 atoms is the largest and in the other case it is not the largest. Multiple plateaus of magnetization M, such as plateaus at M=±1, M=0 and M=±0.566 are obtained. The plateaus at M=±0.566 correspond to two metastable states. The M=0 plateau may disappear at some specific values of spin exchange interactions. The spin configurations were checked when the plateaus appear. The dimmer and trimmer states are found. 相似文献
