The mass spectrum of dimuons produced from the matter in the central region of rapidity in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions is calculated in accordance with Bjorken’s recently proposed model for relativistic heavy-ion collisions. The matter in this central region is assumed to consist of a deconfined quark-gluon plasma phase and a pionized phase. Distinct enhancements of the dimuon mass spectrum below 500 MeV, due to the quark-gluon phase, are predicted for a deconfinement phase-transition temperatureT c<200 MeV.  相似文献

We review the present status in the theoretical and phenomenological understanding of charmonium and bottomonium production in heavy-ion collisions. We start by recapitulating the basic notion of “anomalous quarkonium suppression” in heavy-ion collisions and its recent amendments involving regeneration reactions. We then survey in some detail concepts and ingredients needed for a comprehensive approach to utilize heavy quarkonia as a probe of hot and dense matter. The theoretical discussion encompasses recent lattice QCD computations of quarkonium properties in the Quark-Gluon Plasma, their interpretations using effective potential models, inelastic rate calculations and insights from analyses of electromagnetic plasmas. We illustrate the powerful techniques of thermodynamic Green functions (T-matrices) to provide a general framework for implementing microscopic properties of heavy quarkonia into a kinetic theory of suppression and regeneration reactions. The theoretical concepts are tested in applications to heavy-ion reactions at SPS, RHIC and LHC. We outline perspectives for future experiments on charmonium and bottomonium production in heavy-ion collisions over a large range of energies (FAIR, RHIC-II and LHC). These are expected to provide key insights into hadronic matter under extreme conditions using quarkonium observables.  相似文献

We analyze elliptic flow from SIS to RHIC energies systematically in a realistic dynamical cascade model. We compare our results with the recent data from STAR and PHOBOS collaborations on elliptic flow of charged particles at midrapidity in Au+ Au collisions at RHIC. In the analysis of elliptic flow at RHIC energy, we find a good fitting with data at 1.5 times a scaling factor to our model, which characterizes that the model is required to have extra pressure generated from the subsequent parton scattering after the initial minijet production. In energy dependence of elliptic flow, we notice re-hardening nature at RHIC energies. Both these two observations would probably imply the possible formation of quark-gluon plasma.  相似文献

We analyze the spectra of pions and protons in heavy-ion collisions at relativistic energies from 2 A GeV to 65+65 A GeV by using a jet-implemented hadron-string cascade model. In this energy region, hadron transverse mass spectra first show softening until SPS energies, and re-hardening may emerge at RHIC energies. Since hadronic matter is expected to show only softening at higher energy densities, this re-hardening of spectra can be interpreted as a good signature of the quark-gluon plasma formation  相似文献

Strong electromagnetic fields produced in the non-central heavy-ion collisions can induce vector meson photoproduction. In this paper, we study the photoproduction J/ψ and φ mesons in the relativistic heavy-ion collision from ultra-peripheral nuclear collisions to peripheral hadronic heavy ion collisions. And then include both initial hadronic production and thermal production in quark-gluon plasma (QGP). We find, for the charm anti-charm bound state J/ψ, the photoproduced J/ψs are mainly in the very low momentum region and clearly exceed the hadronic production. However, considering the thermal production of strange quark anti-quark pairs in QGP produced in relativistic heavy-ion collisions, the photoproduced φ is usually smaller than the thermal production and only evident at very peripheral collisions as even their photoproduction is much larger than J/ψ.  相似文献

The mechanism of ion-crystal interaction is discussed and a conclusion is formulated that the opposite tendencies manifest themselves both in the influence of ion-bombardment on the lattice and the lattice potential on ion trajectory. The experimental examples of regular and paradoxical behaviour are described. New experiments are proposed for the studies in nuclear and solid state physics using a crystal-blocking technique.  相似文献

A systematic study regarding the role of participant matter and spectator matter in nuclear stopping using isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics model is presented. The simulations have been carried out with soft equation of state along with the reduced isospin-dependent cross section to study the effect of different types and sizes of rapidity distributions on nuclear stopping for the whole colliding geometry with density-dependent symmetry energy. In addition to that, we attempt to investigate the role of isospin in heavy-ion collisions by calculating the individual contribution of neutrons and protons in nuclear stopping for different systems having different isotopic content.  相似文献

The squeeze-out flow in reactions of 124Sn + 124Sn and 124Ba + 124Ba at different incident energies for different impact parameters is investigated by means of an isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics model. For the first time, it is found that the more neutron-rich system (124Sn + 124Sn) exhibits weaker squeeze-out flow. This isospin dependence of the squeeze-out flow is shown to mainly result from the isospin dependence of nucleon-nucleon cross-section and the symmetry energy. In these proceedings, we briefly review how jets can be reconstructed in heavy-ion collisions. The main point we address is the subtraction of the large contamination from the underlying event background. We first present the main ingredients needed to define the jets and perform the background subtraction and then discuss the efficiency of the subtraction for different jet algorithms and background-estimation methods.  相似文献

LSS based computed electronic stopping power values have been compared with the corresponding measured values in polymers for heavy ions with Z = 5–29, in the reduced ion velocity region, vred ≤ 1. Except for limited vred  0.6–0.85, the formulation generally shows significantly large deviations with the measured values. The ζ factor, which was approximated to be Z11/6, involved in LSS theory has been suitably modified in the light of the available experimental stopping power data. The calculated stopping power values after incorporating modified ζ in LSS formula have been found to be in close agreement with measured values in various polymers in the reduced ion velocity range 0.35 ≤ vred ≤ 1.0.  相似文献

The particle transverse momentum spectra recently measured in relativistic heavy-ion collisions at CERN and BNL are analysed within an expanding fireball model. All the particle spectra at a given beam energy can be reproduced simultaneously with a single set of intensive parameters for the initial state of the fireball. As typical freeze-out parameters in this beam energy region we find a freeze-out temperatureT f?110 MeV for most hadrons, and an average transverse expansion velocity at freeze-out of 〈v/c〉?0.4–0.45. The striking enhancement at transverse momentap T<200 MeV/c in the CERN pion data cannot be fully explained by the existence of transverse flow.  相似文献

The transverse momentum spectra for pions observed by WA80 and NA35 collaborations are analysed within a fireball model with collective isentropic expansion and a realistic freeze-out criterion. By varing the initial state of the fireball, an excellent fit to the data is achieved for the whole measured range ofP T . Slight differences in the data for the spectral slopes from central and pheripheral collisions originate in our model from the difference in the size of the fireball and in the number of participating nucleons in central and peripheral collisions. Using additional information from two-pion correlations, we can extrapolate our model back from the freeze-out point (determined from the spectra) to the initial state; we find that an initial energy density of 1.5–2GGeV/fm3 is sufficient to explain the data from central O+Au collisions at 200A GeV.  相似文献

Charge-dependent correlations from both background and charge separation contribute to experimental observables in heavy-ion collisions. In this paper, we use stochastic hydrodynamics to study background charge asymmetry due to fluctuations. Using the rapidity-dependent correlation and a simple ansatz for particle distributions, we find a fluctuation-induced correlation to provide a type of background F -correlation. Experimental data for Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{{s}_{\mathrm{NN}}}=200\,\mathrm{GeV}$ are compared. We also make predictions for F -correlations in isobar collisions. Combining this with our previous chiral magnetic effect results, we obtain δ -correlations for collisions in the three types of system. Computations from our model show an almost identical background with less than 2% difference for isobars, but roughly 10% difference for their charge separations. In combination with our earlier works, we provide a consistent method of calculating both the chiral magnetic effect and the charged background in the context of stochastic hydrodynamics.  相似文献
