The pyridinolysis of substituted phenyl acetates in acetonitrile was investigated with an electric conductivity method. The rates of these reactions were increased with electron-donating group in pyridine and electron-withdrawing group in phenyl acetate, ϱx (X;substituents in phenyl ring) values increase gradually according to the electron-donating ability in pyridine substituents, but the |ϱy|(Y;substituents in pyridine ring) values decrease with that of substituents. The β values increase with increasing electron-withdrawing ability of the substituents in the phenyl ring, it can be inferred that N---C bond formation increases progressively p-methyl to p-nitrophenyl acetates. This is in agreement with prediction of substituent effects for a simple SN2 displacement reaction. The sensitivity parameters, β and ϱ, are inter-related and are themselves sensitive to the reactivity of the system. All above results are interpreted in terms of a dissociative SN2 mechanism involving a metastable tetrahedral intermediate.  相似文献

The previously unknown 2,4,6-trisubstituted pyrylium salts 1-4 , carrying cyclopropyl and methyl or phenyl substituents in the same molecule, and 5-8 , substituted with isopropyl groups instead of cyclopropyl, were synthesized as perchlorates. The electronic spectra and the C-13 nmr spectra of the two groups of compounds were compared. A cyclopropyl group has a batochromic effect on the electronic spectrum roughly half that exerted by a phenyl; replacement of an alkyl by a cyclopropyl shifts the highest wavelength absorption band by about 20 nm. Presence of phenyl substituents reduces the batochromic effects of cyclopropyl substituents. The effects of both cyclopropyl and phenyl substituents on the electronic spectra are smaller for pyrylium than for tropylium. The nmr signals for all the ring carbons are shifted upfield upon replacement of isopropyl by cyclopropyl; in particular, the effect of substituents in position 2 upon the chemical shift of C(4) indicates that the electron-releasing effect varies in the series alkyl < phenyl < cyclopropyl, in agreement with the findings for 2,6-disubstituted pyrylium salts. The difference between the chemical shifts for the methine and methylene carbons of the three-membered ring is a function of the electron demand of the cationic heterocycle.  相似文献

Carbonyl carbon (13)C NMR chemical shifts delta(C)(C[double bond]O) measured in this work for a wide set of substituted phenyl benzoates p-Y-C(6)H(4)CO(2)C(6)H(4)-p-X (X = NO(2), CN, Cl, Br, H, Me, or MeO; Y = NO(2), Cl, H, Me, MeO, or NMe(2) ) have been used as a tool to study substituent effects on the carbonyl unit. The goal of the work was to study the cross-interaction between X and Y in that respect. Both the phenyl substituents X and the benzoyl substituents Y have a reverse effect on delta(C)(C[double bond]O). Electron-withdrawing substituents cause shielding while electron-donating ones have an opposite influence, with both inductive and resonance effects being significant. The presence of cross-interaction between X and Y could be clearly verified. Electronic effects of the remote aromatic ring substituents systematically modify the sensitivity of the C[double bond]O group to the electronic effects of the phenyl or benzoyl ring substituents. Electron-withdrawing substituents in one ring decrease the sensitivity of delta(C)(C[double bond]O) to the substitution of another ring, while electron-donating substituents inversely affect the sensitivity. It is suggested that the results can be explained by substituent-sensitive balance of the contributions of different resonance structures (electron delocalization, Scheme 1).  相似文献

The 1H NMR parameters for a number of cis-arylmethyl oxiranes are reported and discussed in comparison with those of trans derivatives and styrene oxides substituted in the phenyl ring. While the macroscopic behaviour of the results is in agreement with a perturbative mechanism through the oxirane ring that is mainly electrostatic in character, a small contribution due to conjugative interaction is not excluded. It seems likely that the effect of substituents in the phenyl ring is mainly transmitted through bonds rather than through space, and that the different polarisation of the C? H bonds in the oxirane ring is mainly responsible for the different behaviour of the protons in cis- and trans- arylmethyl oxiranes towards the effect of substituents.  相似文献

The effect of substituents in the ring of 9-methylcarbazoles on the 13C NMR chemical shifts was determined. Correlation relationships between the inductive and resonance constants of the substituents and the chemical shifts were found. The transmission properties of the carbazole ring with respect to the electronic effects of substituents in the 3 position were evaluated on the basis of the results obtained. The 1H NMR spectra of 1-aryl-2-methyl oxiranes substituted in the phenyl ring and of the corresponding vinyl derivatives have been analysed. The substituent effect on oxiran protons seems mostly polar in character, as shown by correlations with substituent constants, solvent effects and the fact that perturbation decreases with increasing distance from the substituent. The comparison with the corresponding vinyl derivatives, in which conjugation effects are present, confirms this point. The results also seem to exclude the possibility of substituents causing significant changes on the preferred conformation of the phenyl ring. Ring current contributions on oxirane protons, evaluated by SCF procedure, show that their change with substituents is very small and does not represent a significant part of the change of proton chemical shift with substituents.  相似文献

A series of naphthalene derivatives, bearing a methyl group and a substituted phenyl ring in a 1,8-relationship, have been synthesized. The chemical shifts of the protons of the methyl group, which are pointed toward the shielding zone of the phenyl ring, were monitored as the phenyl substituents were varied. This work indicates that the shielding effect of the phenyl ring is not so severely altered by the substituents as to significantly influence the chemical shift of the methyl group. Nonetheless, within the small changes observed experimentally, there appears to be a tendency for electron-withdrawing X to shift the methyl signal downfield, whereas electron-donating X-groups cause a more upfield shift. Polarization and field effects are discussed as possible causes for this phenomenon. Chemical shifts computed for selected members of the series, using the recently published procedures of Rablen and Bally, are in agreement with the experimentally observed trends.  相似文献

Simultaneous study of para nitrostilbenes by X-ray diffraction and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance shows a quantitative relationship between the effect of a para nitro substituent on the chemical shift of ethylenic carbon not adjacent to the substituted phenyl ring and the dihedral angle between this phenyl ring and the central double bond. The alternative introduction of substituents in each phenyl ring discloses at the position of carbon β a certain π-polarization which extends to the double bond and to an unsaturated group carried by carbon α.  相似文献

The crystal and molecular structures are reported for two isomeric imidazoles: 1-methyl-2-phenylimida-zole ( 1 ) and 1-methyl-4-phenylimidazole ( 2 ). In molecule 2 the phenyl ring is rotated by 7.3° from the het-erocyclic plane due to steric interactions. The steric congestion is much more severe in 1 , with the adjacent methyl and phenyl substituents mininizing nonbonded interactions via a 32.3° rotation of the phenyl ring and a 0.159 Å displacement of the methyl carbon from the heterocyclic plane.  相似文献

A Rebek imide receptor with an acetylene‐linked phenyl ring complexes 2,6‐di(isobutyramido)pyridine in (CDCl2)2 via triple H‐bonding and π–π‐stacking interactions, and the influence of para‐substituents on both rings was investigated by 1H NMR binding titrations. When the phenyl ring was extended to biphenyl and the C(4)‐pyridine substituent varied, interaction energies increased in the order CH3CH2???phenyl<CH3S???phenyl<phenyl???phenyl?N‐methylcarboxamide???phenyl, highlighting the energetic gain from π stacking on amide fragments. The predicted preference of amide–π stacking for an antiparallel alignment of the local dipoles could not be confirmed with the studied system. Different substituents were introduced in the para position of the phenyl ring and their interaction with bound 2,6‐di(isobutyramido)pyridine was investigated. Theoretical predictions that the mere introduction of a substituent has a stabilizing effect on π–π stacking, regardless of its electronic nature, were experimentally confirmed.  相似文献

To obtain solid‐state emissive materials having stimuli‐responsive luminescent chromic properties without phase transition, benzobithiophenes modified with two o‐carborane units having various substituents in the adjacent phenyl ring in o‐carborane were designed and synthesized. Their emission colors were strongly affected not only by the substituents at the para‐position of the phenyl ring but also by molecular distribution in the solid state. In particular, the emission colors were changed by heating without crystal phase transition. It was proposed that their thermochromic properties were correlated not with isomerization but with the molecular motion at the distorted benzobithiophene moiety.  相似文献

A series of N-phenyl- and N-benzyl-2-azaspiro[4.4]nonane- and [4.5]decane-1,3-diones containing a fluoro or trifluoromethyl substituents at the aryl ring was synthesized and tested for their anticonvulsant activity in the maximal electroshock (MES) and subcutaneous metrazole (sc.Met) tests. Among them, the most active were N-benzyl derivatives with fluoro and trifluoromethyl substituents especially at position-2 of the aryl moiety. The introduction of the phenyl ring at the imide nitrogen atom resulted in less active compounds. The results obtained showed that incorporation of fluoro or trifluoromethyl substituents increased the anticonvulsant activity in comparison to respective chloro, methoxy or methyl analogues. Crystallographically obtained conformation for one active and two inactive derivatives with trifluoromethyl substituents at position-2 or -3 of phenyl ring were initially used for molecular electrostatic potentials (MEP) calculation. The MEP distribution at carbonyl oxygen atoms was different for active and inactive molecules.  相似文献

The 1H NMR spectra of trans-3-phenylmethylidenephthalide and trans-3-phenylthiomethylidenephthalide derivatives were investigated. After applying a correction for the anisotropy of substituents and/or for changes of ring current in the substituted aromatic ring, linear correlations were obtained between the chemical shifts of protons of the substituted phenyl group and the methine group and s? constants of substituents. The influence of the bridge heteroatom on the transfer of electronic effects of substituents through the molecules under study is discussed.  相似文献

A coumarin-based prodrug system has been recently developed in our laboratory for the preparation of esterase-sensitive prodrugs of amines, peptides, and peptidomimetics. The drug release rates from this prodrug system were found to be dependent on the structural features of the drug moiety. In certain cases, the release can be undesirably slow for drugs that are secondary amines with relatively high pKa's. Aimed at finding ways to manipulate the release rates to suit the need of different drugs, we have examined the effect of the phenyl ring substitutions on the release kinetics of such prodrugs and found that appropriately positioned alkyl substituents on the phenyl ring could help to facilitate the release by as much as 16-fold. Therefore, introduction of alkyl substituents on the phenyl ring should allow us to manipulate the release rates and, therefore, time profiles for different drugs.  相似文献

A series of new tautomeric azonaphthols are synthesized and the possibilities for molecular switching are investigated using molecular spectroscopy, X‐ray analysis and density functional theory quantum chemical calculations. Two opposite effects that influence switching are studied: attaching a piperidine sidearm, and adding substituents to the phenyl ring. On the one hand, the attached piperidine moiety stabilizes the enol form leading to a controlled shift of the equilibrium upon protonation. On the other hand, the relative stability of the azonaphthol tautomers strongly depends on the effects of the substituents on the phenyl ring: electron donors tend to stabilize the enol tautomer, whereas electron acceptors lead to stabilization of the keto form. However, these effects do not shift fully the equilibrium towards either of the tautomers. Nevertheless, the effect of the substituents can be an additional tool to affect the switching between “on” and “off” states. Electron‐withdrawing substituents stabilize the keto form and impede switching to the off state, whereas electron donors stabilize the enol form. The effect of the piperidine unit is dominant overall, and with strongly electron‐withdrawing substituents at the phenyl ring, the enol form exists as a zwitterion.  相似文献

Rate constants (kobs) of hydrolysis in boiling alkaline ethanolic solution for six 1-aryl-2-phenyl-2-imidazolines were determined. The influence of substituents in the phenyl group at N-1 upon rate of hydrolysis was studied. When the imidazoline ring is considered to be a substituent of the benzene ring at N-1, a good correlation with the Hammett equation is found. It was observed that reaction rates were enhanced by electron-releasing phenyl substituents of N-1 and reduced by electron-withdrawing groups, providing a change in the mechanism of the reaction in the first case that was not observed in the second. Agreement with the Hammett equation allowed comparison between experimental and “calculated” rate constants which are nearly equal. An equation relating the rate constants with the ionization constants of imidazolinium ions is given.  相似文献

The effects and regulatory actions of the polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) substituent characteristics on their relative retention times (RRTs) during gas chromatography were analyzed based on known experimental RRTs of 209 PCB congeners and biphenyl; the substituent characteristics used for this analysis included the total amount of substituents, the similarity between two phenyl rings in a single PCB congener, the substituents distribution in single phenyl ring, the main/second‐order interactions effects at each position, and the combined effect of two phenyl rings. At last, the universality of regulation was validated on other experimental conditions. Among them, the full factorial experimental design included 10 factors correlated with each substituent position and two levels (0, 1) were initially applied to the domains of the substituent characteristics. The obtained results have revealed that increasing the total amount of substituents can increase the RRTs of PCBs linearly, but similarities between the two rings cannot control the RRTs effectively. Meanwhile, the more compact the substituent distributions on a single phenyl ring are, the bigger the RRTs of PCBs are. Based on a full factorial experimental design, the overall important trend for each position is as follows: para > meta > ortho and the main regulatory substituents for the second‐order interaction effects are distributed in the same phenyl ring in the following sequence: No > Nm > Np. The congener with two perpendicular phenyl rings exhibits a milder combined effect on RRTs and smaller RRT relatively. The regulation has a good universality among different experimental conditions, revealing the dominant effect of substituent characteristics on RRTs of PCBs. The presence of electron-donor substituents in the phenyl ring at the atom С3 of the tetrazinyl ring increases, and of electron-acceptor substituents reduces the reaction rate of 1,5-diphenyl-3-arylverdazyl radicals with СН-acids. The reaction is described with a kinetic equation of the second order with respect to verdazyl, the process rate is determined by the energy of the electron transfer from the SOMO (singly occupied molecular orbital) of the radical to the LUMO of the СН-acid.  相似文献

New organosilicon derivatives of p-tert-butylthiacalix[4]arene with one or two ring fragments at the macrocycle lower rim were synthesized. The spatial structures of the resulting compounds were established by two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy. On going from the methyl substituents at the silicon atom to phenyl substituents, closure of the second silicon-containing ring is hampered because of steric hindrance in the reaction site.
