We extend the Larson–Sweedler theorem [Amer. J. Math. 91 (1969) 75] to weak Hopf algebras by proving that a finite dimensional weak bialgebra is a weak Hopf algebra iff it possesses a non-degenerate left integral. We show that the category of modules over a weak Hopf algebra is autonomous monoidal with semisimple unit and invertible modules. We also reveal the connection of invertible modules to left and right grouplike elements in the dual weak Hopf algebra. Defining distinguished left and right grouplike elements, we derive the Radford formula [Amer. J. Math. 98 (1976) 333] for the fourth power of the antipode in a weak Hopf algebra and prove that the order of the antipode is finite up to an inner automorphism by a grouplike element in the trivial subalgebra AT of the underlying weak Hopf algebra A.  相似文献

The asymptotic behavior of solutions of the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations is considered on bounded smooth domains with no-slip boundary conditions and on periodic domains. Asymptotic regularity conditions are presented to ensure that the convergence of a Leray-Hopf weak solution to its weak ω-limit set (weak in the sense of the weak topology of the space H of square-integrable divergence-free velocity fields with the appropriate boundary conditions) are achieved also in the strong topology. It is proved that the weak ω-limit set is strongly compact and strongly attracts the corresponding solution if and only if all the solutions in the weak ω-limit set are continuous in the strong topology of H. Corresponding results for the strong convergence towards the weak global attractor of Foias and Temam are also presented. In this case, it is proved that the weak global attractor is strongly compact and strongly attracts the weak solutions, uniformly with respect to uniformly bounded sets of weak solutions, if and only if all the global weak solutions in the weak global attractor are strongly continuous in H.  相似文献

It is shown that every proper weak* closed face of the closed unit ball E1*{E_1^*} in the dual space of a JB*-triple E coincides with set of all elements in the unit sphere of E* attaining their norm at a unique compact tripotent in E**. In particular every proper weak* closed face of the closed unit ball E1*{E_1^*} is weak*-semi-exposed. This result provides an affirmative answer to a conjecture posed over 20 years ago.  相似文献

Weak congruence lattices and semidistributive congruence lattices are both recent topics in universal algebra. This motivates the main result of the present paper, which asserts that a finite group G is a Dedekind group if and only if the diagonal relation is a join-semidistributive element in the lattice of weak congruences of G. A variant in terms of subgroups rather than weak congruences is also given. It is pointed out that no similar result is valid for rings. An open problem and some results on the join-semidistributivity of weak congruence lattices are also included. We study the Dirichlet problem for the stationary Oseen equations around a rotating body in an exterior domain. Our main results are the existence and uniqueness of weak and very weak solutions satisfying appropriate Lq‐estimates. The uniqueness of very weak solutions is shown by the method of cut‐off functions with an anisotropic decay. Then our existence result for very weak solutions is deduced by a duality argument from the existence and estimates of strong solutions. From this and interior regularity of very weak solutions, we finally establish the complete D1,r‐result for weak solutions of the Oseen equations around a rotating body in an exterior domain, where 4/3<r <4. Here, D1,r is the homogeneous Sobolev space.  相似文献

For an infinite Hausdorff compact set K and for any Banach space X we show that every nonempty weak open subset relative to the unit ball of the space of X-valued functions that are continuous when X is equipped with the weak (respectively norm, weak-∗) topology has diameter 2. As consequence, we improve known results about nonexistence of denting points in these spaces. Also we characterize when every nonempty weak open subset relative to the unit ball has diameter 2, for the spaces of Bochner integrable and essentially bounded measurable X-valued functions.  相似文献

Two topologies on the Levi-Civita field R will be studied: the valuation topology induced by the order on the field, and another weaker topology induced by a family of seminorms, which we will call weak topology. We show that each of the two topologies results from a metric on R, that the valuation topology is not a vector topology while the weak topology is, and that R is complete in the valuation topology while it is not in the weak topology. Then the properties of both topologies will be studied in details; in particular, we give simple characterizations of open, closed, and compact sets in both topologies.  相似文献

A statistical model of fully developed turbulence in two-dimensional space is considered by means of the renormalization group method in the weak anisotropy approximation. It is shown that the corresponding fixed point of the renormalization group equations is not infrared stable. Hence, the weak, anisotropy approximation is not valid for describing two-dimensional turbulence. The notions of a weak interpolation property and of weak amalgamation are introduced. It is proved that in varieties with the congruence extension property, the weak interpolation property is equivalent to the weak amalgamation property. In turn, weak amalgamability of a variety is equivalent to amalgamability of a class of finitely generated simple algebras in this variety. The investigation of Mach reflection formed after the impingement of a weak plane shock wave on a wedge with shock Mach number Ms near 1, is still an open problem[12]. It's difficult for shock tube experiments with interferometer to detect contact discontinuities if it is too weak; also difficult to catch with due accuracy the transition condition between Mach reflection and regular reflection. The interest to this phenomenon is continuing, especially for weak shocks, because there was systematic discrepancy between simplified three shock theory of von Neumann [8] and shock tube results [15] which was named by G. Birkhoff as “von Neumann Paradox on three shock theory” [18].In 1972, K.O.Friedrichs called for more computational efforts on this problem. Recently it is known that for weak impinging shocks it's still difficult to get contact discontinuities and curved Mach stem with satisfactory accuracy. Recent numerical computation sometimes even fails to show reflected shock wave[6]. These explain why von Neumann paradox of the three shock theory in case of weak discontinuities is still a problem of interesting [9,12,14]. In this paper, on one hand, we investigate the numerical methods for Euler's equation for compressible inviscid flow, aiming at improving the computation of contact discontinuities, on the other hand, a methodology is suggested to correctly plot flow data from the massive information in storage. On this basis, all the reflected shock wave , contact discontinuities and the curved Mach stem are determined. We get Mach reflection under the condition when over-simplified shock theory predicts no such configuration[5].  相似文献

This paper studies the existence of weak solutions of the Navier–Stokes system defined on a certain class of domains in ?3 that may contain cusps. The concept of such a domain and weak energy solution for the system is defined and its existence is proved. We prove that under some global conditions on the maximum and the minimum eigenvalue of the matrix of the coefficients, the gradient of the (weak) solution of some degenerate elliptic equations has higher integrability than expected. Technically we adapt the Giaquinta–Modica regularity method in some degenerate cases. When the dimension is two, a consequence of our result is a new Hölder continuity result for the weak solution.  相似文献

In this paper we derive some new equations and we call them MHD-Leray-alpha equations which are similar to the MHD equations. We put forward the concept of weak and strong solutions for the new equations. Whether the 3-dimensional MHD equations have a unique weak solution is unknown, however, there is a unique weak solution for the 3-dimensional MHD-Leray-alpha equations. The global existence of strong solution and the Gevrey class regularity for the new equations are also obtained. Furthermore, we prove that the solutions of the MHD-Leray-alpha equations converge to the solution of the MHD equations in the weak sense as the parameter ε in the new equations converges to zero.  相似文献

We propose a direct method to control the first-order fractional difference quotients of solutions to quasilinear subelliptic equations in the Heisenberg group. As a new weak convergence concept motivated originally by singular perturbation problems, we investigate the wbo-convergence in the space of regulated functions with values in a Hilbert space. Using a generalization of the Tvrdý Representation Theorem for bounded linear functionals on the space of regulated functions, we establish the relationship between the weak and the wbo-convergences. For general initial data we prove the global existence and weak stability of weak solutions of the Boltzmann equation for Fermi-Dirac particles in a periodic box for very soft potentials (−5<γ?−3) with a weak angular cutoff. In particular the Coulomb interaction (γ=−3) with the weak angular cutoff is included. The conservation of energy and moment estimates are also proven under a further angular cutoff. The proof is based on the entropy inequality, velocity averaging compactness of weak solutions, and various continuity properties of general Boltzmann collision integral operators.  相似文献

We prove that weak solutions of the inviscid SQG equations are not unique, thereby answering Open Problem 11 of De Lellis and Székelyhidi in 2012. Moreover, we also show that weak solutions of the dissipative SQG equation are not unique, even if the fractional dissipation is stronger than the square root of the Laplacian. In view of the results of Marchand in 2008, we establish that for the dissipative SQG equation, weak solutions may be constructed in the same function space both via classical weak compactness arguments and via convex integration. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献
