Domain wall dynamics produced by spin transfer torques is investigated in (Ga, Mn)As ferromagnetic semiconducting tracks with perpendicular anisotropy, close to the Curie temperature. The domain wall velocities are found to follow a linear flow regime which only slightly varies with temperature. Using the D?ring inequality, boundaries of the spin polarization of the current are deduced. A comparison with the predictions of the mean field k·p theory leads to an estimation of the carrier density whose value is compatible with results published in the literature. The spin polarization of the current and the magnetization of the magnetic atoms present similar temperature variations. This leads to a weak temperature dependence of the spin drift velocity and thus of the domain wall velocity. A combined study of field- and current-driven motion and deformation of magnetic domains reveals a motion of domain walls in the steady state regime without transition to the precessional regime. The ratio between the non-adiabatic torque β and the Gilbert damping factor α is shown to remain close to unity.  相似文献

We study the effects of a gate-controlled Rashba spin-orbit coupling to quantum spin Hall edge states in HgTe quantum wells. A uniform Rashba coupling can be employed in tuning the spin orientation of the edge states while preserving the time-reversal symmetry. We introduce a sample geometry where the Rashba coupling can be used in probing helicity by purely electrical means without requiring spin detection, application of magnetic materials or magnetic fields. In the considered setup a tilt of the spin orientation with respect to the normal of the sample leads to a reduction in the two-terminal conductance with current-voltage characteristics and temperature dependence typical of Luttinger liquid constrictions.  相似文献

We report on measurements of the spin lifetime of nuclear spins strongly coupled to a micromechanical cantilever as used in magnetic resonance force microscopy. We find that the rotating-frame correlation time of the statistical nuclear polarization is set by the magnetomechanical noise originating from the thermal motion of the cantilever. Evidence is based on the effect of three parameters: (1) the magnetic field gradient (the coupling strength), (2) the Rabi frequency of the spins (the transition energy), and (3) the temperature of the low-frequency mechanical modes. Experimental results are compared to relaxation rates calculated from the spectral density of the magnetomechanical noise.  相似文献

We study the thermoelectric transport through a double-quantum-dot system with spin-dependent interdot coupling and ferromagnetic electrodes by means of the non-equilibrium Green’s function in the linear response regime. It is found that the thermoelectric coefficients are strongly dependent on the splitting of the interdot coupling, the relative magnetic configurations, and the spin polarization of leads. In particular, the thermoelectric efficiency can reach a considerable value in the parallel configuration when the effective interdot coupling and the tunnel coupling between the quantum dots and the leads for the spin-down electrons are small. Moreover, the thermoelectric efficiency increases with the intradot Coulomb interaction increasing and can reach very high values at appropriate temperatures. In the presence of the magnetic field, the spin accumulation in the leads strongly suppresses the thermoelectric efficiency, and a pure spin thermopower can be obtained.  相似文献

By combining magnetic field cycling in the range from 0.1mT to 7T with high-resolution NMR detection the T(1) relaxation dispersion (nuclear magnetic relaxation dispersion (NMRD)) of protons in the nucleotides adenosine mono-phosphate and guanosine mono-phosphate was measured in a site-specific way. While at high field the individual spins have distinctly different T(1) times, their scalar spin-spin interaction fulfills at low field the condition of strong coupling and leads to convergence of their T(1) dispersion curves. In addition, the spin-spin coupling can lead to oscillatory components in the relaxation kinetics traceable to a coupling between spin polarization and coherence in the relaxation process. As a consequence the NMRD curves do not directly reflect the spectral density function of the motional processes, but the effects of motion and spin coupling must be separated for a reliable evaluation. A theoretical approach is described allowing such an analysis.  相似文献

We develop a theoretical basis for understanding the spin relaxation processes in Kondo lattice systems with heavy fermions as experimentally observed by electron spin resonance (ESR). The Kondo effect leads to a common energy scale that regulates a logarithmic divergence of different spin kinetic coefficients and supports a collective spin motion of the Kondo ions with conduction electrons. We find that the relaxation rate of a collective spin mode is greatly reduced due to a mutual cancellation of all the divergent contributions even in the case of the strongly anisotropic Kondo interaction. The contribution to the ESR linewidth caused by the local magnetic field distribution is subject to motional narrowing supported by ferromagnetic correlations. The developed theoretical model successfully explains the ESR data of YbRh2Si2 in terms of their dependence on temperature and magnetic field.  相似文献

This paper is a second in a series devoted to the study of a two-oscillator system in linear relative motion (the first one published as a letter in [J.S. H?ye, I. Brevik, Europhys. Lett. 91, 60003 (2010)]). The main idea behind considering this kind of system is to use it as a simple model for Casimir friction. In the present paper we extend our previous theory so as to obtain the change in the oscillator energy to second order in the perturbation, even though we employ first order perturbation theory only. The results agree with, and confirm, our earlier results obtained via different routes. The friction force is finite at finite temperatures, whereas in the case of two oscillators moving with constant relative velocity the force becomes zero at zero temperature, due to slowly varying coupling.  相似文献

The effects of second-neighbor spin coupling interactions and a magnetic field are investigated on the free energies of a finite-size 1-D Ising model. For both ferromagnetic of nearest neighbor (NN) and next-nearest neighbor (NNN) spin coupling interactions, the finite-size free energy first increases and then approaches a constant value for any size of the spin chain. In contrast, when NNN and NN spin coupling interactions are antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic, respectively, the finite-size free energy gradually decreases by increasing the competition factor and eventually vanishes for large values of it. When a magnetic field is applied, the finite-size free energy decreases with respect to the case of zero magnetic fields for both ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic spin coupling interactions. Deviation of free energy per size for finite-size systems relative to the infinite system increases when the spin coupling interactions as well as the f parameter (the ratio of the magnetic field to NN spin coupling interaction) increase.  相似文献

We use the semiclassical approximation for the relative motion (which is simplified and taken to be one-dimensional), neglect other collective degrees of freedom, and describe the coupling between relative motion and intrinsic degrees of freedom by a random-matrix model. This leads to an explicit expression for the friction coefficient. Numerical calculations show qualitative agreement with the data.  相似文献

We study the Kondo effect in a quantum dot coupled to ferromagnetic leads and analyze its properties as a function of the spin polarization of the leads. Based on a scaling approach, we predict that for parallel alignment of the magnetizations in the leads the strong-coupling limit of the Kondo effect is reached at a finite value of the magnetic field. Using an equation of motion technique, we study nonlinear transport through the dot. For parallel alignment, the zero-bias anomaly may be split even in the absence of an external magnetic field. For antiparallel spin alignment and symmetric coupling, the peak is split only in the presence of a magnetic field, but shows a characteristic asymmetry in amplitude and position.  相似文献

We study the coupling of a single nitrogen-vacancy center in diamond to a nearby single nitrogen defect at room temperature. The magnetic dipolar coupling leads to a splitting in the electron spin resonance frequency of the nitrogen-vacancy center, allowing readout of the state of a single nitrogen electron spin. At magnetic fields where the spin splitting of the two centers is the same, we observe a strong polarization of the nitrogen electron spin. The amount of polarization can be controlled by the optical excitation power. We combine the polarization and the readout in time-resolved pump-probe measurements to determine the spin relaxation time of a single nitrogen electron spin. Finally, we discuss indications for hyperfine-induced polarization of the nitrogen nuclear spin.  相似文献

We propose a torsional resonator that couples to the transverse spin dipole of an attached sample. The absence of relative motion eliminates a source of friction that would otherwise hinder nanoscale implementation. Enhanced spontaneous emission induced by the resonator relaxes the longitudinal spin dipole at a rate of ~1 s?1 in the low-temperature limit. With signal averaging, single-proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy appears feasible at ~10 mK and a high magnetic field, while single-shot sensitivity is practical for samples with at least tens of protons in a volume of ~5 nm3.  相似文献

The influence of Rashba and Dresselhaus spin–orbit interactions on the electronic properties of quasi one-dimensional systems like InAs quantum wires is discussed in the presence of in-plane magnetic fields. One shows that equal coupling strength conditions are provided specifically by the commutativity of two-dimensional constituents of velocity and current operators. The interesting point is that equal strength spin–orbit couplings one deals with proceed in conjunction with related spin conservations, which amounts to account for selected orientations of the magnetic field. Accordingly, the in-plane magnetic fields should be directed solely along the bisectrices. Other angles may be conceivable, but in this case spin conservations alluded to above are lost. Such results open the way to a consistent derivation of the equal coupling strength limit of the energy, which leads in turn to the derivation of novel spin-precession effects. A related effective gyromagnetic factor has also been established.  相似文献

A microscopic model is presented to show explicitly how dynamical charge and lattice fluctuations (at zero temperature the zero point motion) will-through spin orbit coupling-induce spin-flip terms off-electrons in intermediate valent and heavy fermion systems. A simple model Hamiltonian coupling charge, lattice, and spin degrees of freedom is derived and diagonalized exactly.  相似文献

The spin Hall transport properties in a two-dimensional electron system with both Rashba spin-orbit coupling (SOC) and magnetic impurities are investigated. Electrons are scattered by impurities through an exchange interaction that leads to spin flip-flop processes and so changes the spin Hall effect induced by the SOC. The spin Hall conductance is calculated in a 4-terminal system using the Landauer-Buttiker formula and Green function approach. In comparison with the simulation results on nonmagnetic impurities doping systems, our results reveal that the spin Hall conductance is still nonzero in a system with a large density of magnetic impurities and a finite intensity of the exchange interaction between the electrons and impurities, and its sign may be altered when the doping density and interaction strength are large enough.  相似文献

Spin and charge transport through a quantum dot coupled to external nonmagnetic leads is analyzed theoretically in terms of the non-equilibrium Green function formalism based on the equation of motion method. The dot is assumed to be subject to spin and charge bias, and the considerations are focused on the Kondo effect in spin and charge transport. It is shown that the differential spin conductance as a function of spin bias reveals a typical zero-bias Kondo anomaly which becomes split when either magnetic field or charge bias are applied. Significantly different behavior is found for mixed charge/spin conductance. The influence of electron-phonon coupling in the dot on tunneling current as well as on both spin and charge conductance is also analyzed.  相似文献
