The angular and spectral characteristics of reverberation signals on a fixed path are studied by using vertical receiving arrays with a tonal insonification of the basin. The choice of the frequency range F ~ 200–300 Hz is caused, first, by the low propagation loss and the availability of high-power acoustic transducers for this range and, second, by the possibility to study the phenomena of sound scattering by the sea surface for comparable wavelengths of surface and acoustic waves. The data of experiments on two paths are considered: the first path is in the Barents Sea with propagation conditions corresponding to a uniform waveguide with sea depths H ~ 110–120 m, whereas the second path is in the White Sea with propagation conditions corresponding to a nonuniform waveguide where the sea depth varies from 30 to 250 m.  相似文献

An analysis is made of the experimental investigations of the surface waves existing at the interface between a homogeneous medium and a periodically stratified medium that represents a bounded system of coupled waveguides. It is shown that, in all cases of the observation of surface waves, the bounded system of coupled waveguides has its own spectrum of guided modes and a spectrum of leaky modes that become surface waves of the system. It is also demonstrated that a biosensor can successfully operate when two surface waves serve as leaky modes of a Bragg waveguide in which the periodic system of waveguides is used as a distributed Bragg mirror of this waveguide. A structure supporting surface waves is designed on the basis of ten pairs of Nb2O5-SiO2 layers and implemented experimentally. The surface waves are detected with a K8 glass prism according to the Kretschmann scheme.  相似文献

The propagation of surface acoustic waves (SAWs) in a thin-film aluminum waveguide of Δv/v type fabricated on a 128° Y-X LiNbO3 plate by lift-off lithography and direct writing by a 20-keV electron beamis studied experimentally. The temperature dependence of the phase of the signal passed through an SAW delayline exhibits steps and hysteresis. The line consists of such a waveguide and two interdigital transducers with acenter frequency of 486 MHz and is exposed to a nitrogen flow. The vapors of water-containing analytes introduced into the nitrogen flow cause anomalous phase changes. These changes are of opposite sign and more thanone order of magnitude greater than the phase changes observed under similar conditions in specimens fabricated by optical lithography. It is concluded that these phenomena offer possibilities for designing SAW humidity sensors with a low threshold of sensitivity.  相似文献

系统研究了负μ材料(MNG)作为包层的对称三层平板波导的传输特性. 研究发现,这种波导既支持快波的传播,又支持TE0,TE1模式的慢波传输. 其模式特性不同于左手介质波导和传统介质波导,导模存在的模折射率范围要比它们的大. MNG波导的TE0快波模缺失,且TEm模(m>1)的传播常数大于TMm模的传播常数. TEm模具有双模特征,且与波导的结构参数密切相关,导致波导中的净能流出现负值. 关键词: 单负介质 平板波导 快波与慢波 传播常数  相似文献

The propagation properties and field structures of a new class of electromagnetic surface excitations, the so-called guided surface polaritons, are investigated. These waves exhibit features of both film-guided modes and surface polaritons. The conditions of their existence dependent on the optical constants are discussed. We perform a rigorous electrodynamic analysis of waves in a stud-loaded rectangular waveguide (SLW) with a dielectric filling. Both symmetric and nonsymmetric waveguides are examined. Radiation conditions are formulated for both surface and leaky waves. The content of the modal spectrum is determined, and the propagation constants are studied as a function of the frequency and/or geometrical parameters of the waveguide. A. Ya. The propagation of magnetostatic waves in a ferromagnetic waveguide created by a step bias field is studied by numerical methods. Bias field configurations and frequencies are taken such that the width of the magnetic waveguide accommodates either only bulk waves or surface and bulk waves in combination. The propagation of ultralow-frequency (ULF) electromagnetic waves in a waveguide filled with magnetoactive plasma is consieered on the basis of the monoaxial crystal approximation which is more general than the MHD approximation. The formulas for the phase and group velocities of the ordinary (magnetoacoustic) and extraordinary waves (similar to Alfvén waves in the MHD approximation) are derived. It is shown that analysis outside the scope of the MHD approximation results in a finite (nonzero) velocity of energy propagation of the extraordinary wave (Alfvén wave at the limit) along the waveguide. The possible waveguide mode triplets satisfying the conditions of synchronism are found. Three-wave resonant parametric and nonlinear interaction between waves with such characteristics leads to effective spectral transformation of the ULF radiation. 应用质点振荡模型和数值模拟方法研究了在金属与光折变晶体界面形成表面波的条件及其能量变化. 结果表明: 传播常数的正负影响表面波的类型及波能量分布, 当传播常数取负值时在界面处形成非局域表面波, 取正值时在界面处形成振荡表面波和局域表面波, 局域表面波的能量随传播常数的变大而单调递增. 在一给定的物理系统中, 可通过调节决定非线性效应强度的可变参量控制不同阶数局域表面波模及其传播波形.  相似文献

A theoretical study is made of the trajectories and of the changes in magnitude and direction of the wave vectors of magnetostatic backward surface waves with different frequencies propagating in ferrite-insulator-metal structures with different insulating layer thicknesses and magnetized by a linearly nonuniform static field. It is shown that both forward and backward magnetostatic surface waves (MSSWs) propagate in a waveguide channel, on one side of which MSSWs undergo mirror reflection and on the other side of which their propagation direction is rotated, independently of the thickness of the insulator in the structure. It is shown that when MSSWs propagate in a nonuniform field, the forward wave is converted into a backward wave and, under certain conditions, the backward wave is converted into a forward wave. We study a waveguide with layered-periodic walls for different relations between the dielectric permittivities of the central (guiding) layer and the superlattice layers. 本文在理论分析的基础上,实验研究了二维MNG/DPS/MNG(磁单负材料/双正材料/磁单负材料)表面波波导中的慢波效应.该波导的色散曲线随着电路参数(单元电容)的改变而改变,而且在色散曲线的截止频率点,电磁波的群速度理论上等于零.因此可以通过改变MNG区域的电路参数,得到在不同截止频率的慢波特性.另外,本文还通过改变MNG区域的电路参数实现在某一固定频率下波速度渐变的慢波效应.实验结果与仿真结果相一致.  相似文献

It is considered and offered the waveguide band elimination filter with the working mode H10 that can be used in millimeter waves devices such as up, down- converters, mixer, etc. The characteristics of the filter was calculated by using analogy in electromagnetic the waveguide propagation and optical the wave propagation in the medium with the specific refractive index N. This conception can be applied for party-filled waveguide in the case when the Brillouin decomposition of the waveguide waves into plane waves is correct and the transformation of the incident (propagating) mode into other the mode types is absent.In this work were calculated the spectrum energy transmittance T(f) in the filter stop band and the wavelength 0 in the center of this band using the characteristic equation obtained in the result of theoretical consideration. In this study, a competent numerical strategy to compute the dispersion of optical waveguides is presented and propagation of electromagnetic waves in a coaxial optical waveguide with DB boundary conditions is instigated. For this intend, cylindrical coordinates are here being used to derive the DB boundary conditions and to obtain field components for the modes. The propagation constant for the waveguide to be studied is determined by solving the Bessel and the modified Bessel functions. The cutoff frequencies for various lower order modes have been calculated and their dispersion characteristics are plotted correspondingly. The behavior of the coaxial optical waveguide under DB boundary conditions is shown to be significantly different from that of coaxial optical waveguide and conventional optical waveguide under traditional or tangential boundary conditions. Finally, the effect of waveguide dimensions on the mode cutoff frequencies and fabrication issues are also addressed.  相似文献

We study guided modes propagating along a dielectric slab waveguide with a left handed material (LHM) cover or substrate. The dispersion relation is derived by using normalized waveguide parameters. An analytical method is then proposed to calculate the universal dispersion curves. Different from a slab waveguide with a LHM core, we find that guidance properties are strongly dependent on dielectric permittivity ε and magnetic permeability μ of the substrate and cover layers. For oscillating guided modes, fundamental zero order mode is not always absence, sometimes it exists in a restricted range of normalized propagation constant. First order mode behaves as other higher order modes and exists up to infinite high frequency. Higher order modes have no double degeneracy in the case of LHM cover layer. For surface guided modes, the existence and the type of the mode solutions with respect to different parameters are classified systematically and discussed in detail. Unlike a slab waveguide with a LHM core where the dispersion curve of TE1 surface mode continues with that of oscillating TE1 mode, the dispersion curve of TE1 surface mode continues with that of oscillating TE0 mode. It seems that the two different kinds of modes compensate each other to form one whole mode. Both TE and TM guided modes are discussed.  相似文献

We numerically and theoretically demonstrate that a metal–insulator–metal (MIM) waveguide with multiple-teeth-shaped graded depths can strongly slow light as the propagation velocities of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) are reduced over a large frequency bandwidth at visible wavelengths domain. Since the wavelength of the trough of transmission is dependent on the depth of the tooth-shaped dielectric in the MIM waveguide, the guided SPPs at different frequencies can be localized at different spatial positions of the multiple-teeth-shaped graded depths MIM waveguide, which can be proved by the scattering matrix method. The separation between trapped waves can be tuned by changing the grade of the tooth-shaped depths and the lifetime of SPPs in the waveguide may be long enough for some meaningful nano-photonic applications.  相似文献

SH surface acoustic wave (SH-SAW) propagation in a cylindrically layered magneto-electro-elastic structure is investigated analytically, where a piezomagnetic (or piezoelectric) material layer is bonded to a piezoelectric (or piezomagnetic) substrate. By means of transformation, the governing equations of the coupled waves are reduced to Bessel equation and Laplace equation. The boundary conditions imply that the displacements, shear stresses, electric potential, and electric displacements are continuous across the interface between the layer and the substrate together with the traction free at the surface of the layer. The magneto-electrically open and shorted conditions at cylindrical surface are taken to solve the problem. The phase velocity is numerically calculated for different thickness of the layer and wavenumber for piezomagnetic ceramics CoFe2O4 and piezoelectric ceramics BaTiO3. The effects of magnetic permeability on propagation properties of SH-SAW are discussed in detail. The distributions of displacement, magnetic potential and magneto-electromechanical coupling factor are also figured and discussed.  相似文献

A tunable gas sensor using surface acoustic waves (SAW) is described. It is designed on the basis of a waveguide delay line fabricated on a piezoelectric substrate made of 128° Y-cut LiNbO3. A voltage applied between the waveguide and two electrodes causes a local change in the properties of the substrate near the waveguide and differently affects the sensor’s response to the vapors of various analytes. Some results of the experimental study of the sensor, which show the change in the selectivity under the effect of voltage, are presented. The analytes used for testing include a number of alcohols and deionized water. The possibilities for employing such a sensor in the sensor arrays of gas analyzers of the electronic nose type are discussed.  相似文献

The propagation of electromagnetic waves in a rectangular waveguide containing layers of common dielectric and metamaterial with a negative refractive index separated by a thin film of a superconductor of the second type in the mixed state is considered. The possibility of amplifiying waves at frequencies lower than the cutoff energy due to the energy of an Abrikosov vortex lattice moving in the superconductor is demonstrated.  相似文献

The investigation of TM wave propagation inside a cylindrical waveguide composed of antiferromagnetic/nonmagnetic superlattices (LANS), bounded by left-handed material (LHM), is presented. We have derived the eigenmode equation and obtained the solutions for TM propagation modes. We found that the waveguide supports backward TM waves since both electric permittivity and magnetic permeability of the LHM are negative. We also illustrated the dependence of the wave index n x on the magnetic fraction f 1 and the reduced radius of the LANS. The largest propagation lengths of TM waves and the best confinement are achieved for the thinnest LANS of less magnetic material. Moreover, we displayed the influence of the magnetic permeability μ h and the electric permittivity ε h of the LHM on the power flow of TM waves. Larger wave indices have been switched by increasing μ h and ε h .  相似文献
