We study the asymptotic behaviour of the empirical distribution function derived from a stationary marked point process when a convex sampling window is expanding without bounds in all directions. We consider a random field model which assumes that the marks and the points are independent and admits dependencies between the marks. The main result is the weak convergence of the empirical process under strong mixing conditions on both independent components of the model. Applying an approximation principle weak convergence can be also shown for appropriately weighted empirical process defined from a stationary d-dimensional germ-grain process with dependent grains.  相似文献

Wong and Yu [Generalized MLE of a joint distribution function with multivariate interval-censored data, J. Multivariate Anal. 69 (1999) 155-166] discussed generalized maximum likelihood estimation of the joint distribution function of a multivariate random vector whose coordinates are subject to interval censoring. They established uniform consistency of the generalized MLE (GMLE) of the distribution function under the assumption that the random vector is independent of the censoring vector and that both of the vector distributions are discrete. We relax these assumptions and establish consistency results of the GMLE under a multivariate mixed case interval censorship model. van der Vaart and Wellner [Preservation theorems for Glivenko-Cantelli and uniform Glivenko-Cantelli class, in: E. Gine, D.M. Mason, J.A. Wellner (Eds.), High Dimensional Probability, vol. II, Birkhäuser, Boston, 2000, pp. 115-133] and Yu [Consistency of the generalized MLE with multivariate mixed case interval-censored data, Ph.D Dissertation, Binghamton University, 2000] independently proved strong consistency of the GMLE in the L1(μ)-topology, where μ is a measure derived from the joint distribution of the censoring variables. We establish strong consistency of the GMLE in the topologies of weak convergence and pointwise convergence, and eventually uniform convergence under appropriate distributional assumptions and regularity conditions.  相似文献

The least-squares linear inverse estimation problem for random fields is studied in a fractional generalized framework. First, the second-order regularity properties of the random fields involved in this problem are analysed in terms of the fractional Sobolev norms. Second, the incorporation of prior information in the form of a fractional stochastic model, with covariance operator bicontinuous with respect to a certain fractional Sobolev norm, leads to a regularization of this problem. Third, a multiresolution approximation to the class of linear inverse problems considered is obtained from a wavelet-based orthogonal expansion of the input and output random models. The least-squares linear estimate of the input random field is then computed using these orthogonal wavelet decompositions. The results are applied to solving two important cases of linear inverse problems defined in terms of fractional integral operators.  相似文献

We consider, in the presence of covariates, non-independent competing risks that are subject to right censoring. We define a nonparametric estimator of the incident regression function through the generalized product-limit estimator of the conditional censorship distribution function. Under suitable conditions, we establish the almost sure uniform convergence of those estimators with an appropriate rate.  相似文献

Summary Let R(s,t) be the empirical process of a sequence of independent random vectors with common but arbitrary distribution function. In this paper we give an almost sure approximation of R(s,t) by a Kiefer process. The result continues to hold for stationary sequences of random vectors with continuous distribution function and satisfying a strong mixing condition.Supported in part by an NSF grant  相似文献

In the random censorship from the right model, strong and weak limit theorems for Bahadur-Kiefer type processes based on the product-limit estimator are established. The main theorm is sharp and may be considered as a final result as far as this type of research is concerned. As a consequence of this theorem a sharp uniform Bahadur representation for product-limit quantiles is obtained.  相似文献

We consider the estimation of the regression operator r in the functional model: Y=r(x)+ε, where the explanatory variable x is of functional fixed-design type, the response Y is a real random variable and the error process ε is a second order stationary process. We construct the kernel type estimate of r from functional data curves and correlated errors. Then we study their performances in terms of the mean square convergence and the convergence in probability. In particular, we consider the cases of short and long range error processes. When the errors are negatively correlated or come from a short memory process, the asymptotic normality of this estimate is derived. Finally, some simulation studies are conducted for a fractional autoregressive integrated moving average and for an Ornstein-Uhlenbeck error processes.  相似文献

In this paper we define a new nonlinear wavelet-based estimator of conditional density function for a random left truncation and right censoring model. We provide an asymptotic expression for the mean integrated squared error (MISE) of the estimator. It is assumed that the lifetime observations form a stationary α-mixing sequence. Unlike for kernel estimators, the MISE expression of the wavelet-based estimators is not affected by the presence of discontinuities in the curves. Also, asymptotic normality of the estimator is established.  相似文献

The estimation of a regression function by kernel method for longitudinal or functional data is considered. In the context of longitudinal data analysis, a random function typically represents a subject that is often observed at a small number of time points, while in the studies of functional data the random realization is usually measured on a dense grid. However, essentially the same methods can be applied to both sampling plans, as well as in a number of settings lying between them. In this paper general results are derived for the asymptotic distributions of real-valued functions with arguments which are functionals formed by weighted averages of longitudinal or functional data. Asymptotic distributions for the estimators of the mean and covariance functions obtained from noisy observations with the presence of within-subject correlation are studied. These asymptotic normality results are comparable to those standard rates obtained from independent data, which is illustrated in a simulation study. Besides, this paper discusses the conditions associated with sampling plans, which are required for the validity of local properties of kernel-based estimators for longitudinal or functional data.  相似文献

We consider block thresholding wavelet-based density estimators with randomly right-censored data and investigate their asymptotic convergence rates. Unlike for the complete data case, the empirical wavelet coefficients are constructed through the Kaplan-Meier estimators of the distribution functions in the censored data case. On the basis of a result of Stute [W. Stute, The central limit theorem under random censorship, Ann. Statist. 23 (1995) 422-439] that approximates the Kaplan-Meier integrals as averages of i.i.d. random variables with a certain rate in probability, we can show that these wavelet empirical coefficients can be approximated by averages of i.i.d. random variables with a certain error rate in L2. Therefore we can show that these estimators, based on block thresholding of empirical wavelet coefficients, achieve optimal convergence rates over a large range of Besov function classes , p≥2, q≥1 and nearly optimal convergence rates when 1≤p<2. We also show that these estimators achieve optimal convergence rates over a large class of functions that involve many irregularities of a wide variety of types, including chirp and Doppler functions, and jump discontinuities. Therefore, in the presence of random censoring, wavelet estimators still provide extensive adaptivity to many irregularities of large function classes. The performance of the estimators is tested via a modest simulation study.  相似文献

Among several widely use methods of nonparametric density estimation is the technique of orthogonal series advocated by several authors. For such estimate when the observations are assumed to have been taken from strong mixing sequence in the sense of Rosenblatt [7] we study strong consistency by developing probability inequality for bounded strongly mixing random variables. The results obtained are then applied to two estimates of the functional Δ(f)=∫f 2 (x)dx were strong consistency is established. One of the suggested two estimates of Δ(f) was recently studied by Schuler and Wolff [8] in the case of independent and identically distributed observations where they established consistency in the second mean of the estimate. In the Koziol-Green or proportional hazards random censorship model, the asymptotic accuracy of the estimated one-term Edgeworth expansion and the smoothed bootstrap approximation for the Studentized Abdushukurov-Cheng-Lin estimator is investigated. It is shown that both the Edgeworth expansion estimate and the bootstrap approximation are asymptotically closer to the exact distribution of the Studentized Abdushukurov-Cheng-Lin estimator than the normal approximation.  相似文献

Wiener processes with random effects for degradation data   总被引:12,自引:0,他引:12
This article studies the maximum likelihood inference on a class of Wiener processes with random effects for degradation data. Degradation data are special case of functional data with monotone trend. The setting for degradation data is one on which n independent subjects, each with a Wiener process with random drift and diffusion parameters, are observed at possible different times. Unit-to-unit variability is incorporated into the model by these random effects. EM algorithm is used to obtain the maximum likelihood estimators of the unknown parameters. Asymptotic properties such as consistency and convergence rate are established. Bootstrap method is used for assessing the uncertainties of the estimators. Simulations are used to validate the method. The model is fitted to bridge beam data and corresponding goodness-of-fit tests are carried out. Failure time distributions in terms of degradation level passages are calculated and illustrated.  相似文献

An alternative to the accelerated failure time model is to regress the median of the failure time on the covariates. In the recent years, censored median regression models have been shown to be useful for analyzing a variety of censored survival data with the robustness property. Based on missing information principle, a semiparametric inference procedure for regression parameter has been developed when censoring variable depends on continuous covariate. In order to improve the low coverage accuracy of such procedure, we apply an empirical likelihood ratio method (EL) to the model and derive the limiting distributions of the estimated and adjusted empirical likelihood ratios for the vector of regression parameter. Two kinds of EL confidence regions for the unknown vector of regression parameters are obtained accordingly. We conduct an extensive simulation study to compare the performance of the proposed methods with that normal approximation based method. The simulation results suggest that the EL methods outperform the normal approximation based method in terms of coverage probability. Finally, we make some discussions about our methods.  相似文献

Theorems of approximation of Gaussian processes for the sequential empirical process of the permutations of independent random variables are established. The results are applied to simulate critical values for the functionals of sequential empirical processes used in change point analysis. The proofs are based on the properties of rank statistics and negatively associated random variables.  相似文献

For a sequence of strictly stationary uniform or strong mixing we estimate the mean residual time of the marginal distribution from the first n observations. Under appropriate conditions it is shown that the estimate converges weakly to a well-defined Gaussian process even when the sample size is random.  相似文献

Fractal Gaussian models have been widely used to represent the singular behavior of phenomena arising in different applied fields; for example, fractional Brownian motion and fractional Gaussian noise are considered as monofractal models in subsurface hydrology and geophysical studies Mandelbrot [The Fractal Geometry of Nature, Freeman Press, San Francisco, 1982 [13]]. In this paper, we address the problem of least-squares linear estimation of an intrinsic fractal input random field from the observation of an output random field affected by fractal noise (see Angulo et al. [Estimation and filtering of fractional generalised random fields, J. Austral. Math. Soc. A 69 (2000) 1-26 [2]], Ruiz-Medina et al. [Fractional generalized random fields on bounded domains, Stochastic Anal. Appl. 21 (2003a) 465-492], Ruiz-Medina et al. [Fractional-order regularization and wavelet approximation to the inverse estimation problem for random fields, J. Multivariate Anal. 85 (2003b) 192-216]. Conditions on the fractality order of the additive noise are studied to obtain a bounded inversion of the associated Wiener-Hopf equation. A stable solution is then obtained in terms of orthogonal bases of the reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces associated with the random fields involved. Such bases are constructed from orthonormal wavelet bases (see Angulo and Ruiz-Medina [Multiresolution approximation to the stochastic inverse problem, Adv. in Appl. Probab. 31 (1999) 1039-1057], Angulo et al. [Wavelet-based orthogonal expansions of fractional generalized random fields on bounded domains, Theoret. Probab. Math. Stat. (2004), in press]). A simulation study is carried out to illustrate the influence of the fractality orders of the output random field and the fractal additive noise on the stability of the solution derived.  相似文献

The functional autoregressive model is a Markov model taylored for data of functional nature. It revealed fruitful when attempting to model samples of dependent random curves and has been widely studied along the past few years. This article aims at completing the theoretical study of the model by addressing the issue of weak convergence for estimates from the model. The main difficulties stem from an underlying inverse problem as well as from dependence between the data. Traditional facts about weak convergence in non-parametric models appear: the normalizing sequence is not an , a bias term appears. Several original features of the functional framework are pointed out.  相似文献
