Twenty two hydrogen-bonded and improper blue-shifting hydrogen-bonded complexes were studied by means of the HF, MP2 and B3LYP methods using the 6-31G(d,p) and 6--311 ++G(d,p) basis sets. In contrast to the standard H bonding, the origin of the improper blue-shifting H bonding is still not fully understood. Contrary to a frequently presented idea, the electric field of the proton acceptor cannot solely explain the different behavior of the H-bonded and improper blue-shifting H-bonded complexes. Compression of the hydrogen bond due to different attractive forces-dispersion or electrostatics--makes an important contribution as well. The symmetry-adapted perturbation theory (SAPT) has been utilized to decompose the total interaction energy into physically meaningful contributions. In the red-shifting complexes, the induction energy is mostly larger than the dispersion energy while, in the case of blue-shifting complexes, the situation is opposite. Dispersion as an attractive force increases the blue shift in the blue-shifting complexes as it compresses the H bond and, therefore, it increases the Pauli repulsion. On the other hand, dispersion in the red-shifting complexes increases their red shift.  相似文献

A series of rotaxanes 1·5, 2·5, 3·5, and 4·5 bearing a different substituent (X = NO2, Br, H, and OMe, respectively) at para position on the phenol moiety of the ring component exhibit clear difference in deslipping behavior. The difference in the deslipping rates is consistent with the difference in intercomponent hydrogen bonding strength estimated from the O-H stretching vibration wavenumbers. The para substituent dictates the relative strength of the intra- and intermolecular hydrogen bonds. Thus the incorporation of an intramolecular hydrogen bond allows for tunability of the strength of the intercomponent interaction.  相似文献

The interplay between two important noncovalent interactions involving aromatic rings is studied by means of high level ab initio calculations. They demonstrate that synergistic effects are present in complexes where anion-pi and hydrogen bonding interactions coexist. These synergistic effects have been studied using the "atoms-in-molecules" theory and the Molecular Interaction Potential with polarization partition scheme. The present study examines how these two interactions mutually influence each other.  相似文献

The bonding patterns between small neutral gold Au(3 < or = n < or = 7) and hydrogen fluoride (HF)(1 < or = m < or = 4) clusters are discussed using a high-level density functional approach. Two types of interactions, anchoring Au-F and F-H...Au, govern the complexation of these clusters. The F-H...Au interaction exhibits all the characteristics of nonconventional hydrogen bonding and plays a leading role in stabilizing the lowest-energy complexes. The anchor bonding mainly activates the conventional F-H...F hydrogen bonds within HF clusters and reinforces the nonconventional F-H...Au one. The strength of the F-H...Au bonding, formed between the terminal conventional proton donor group FH and an unanchored gold atom, depends on the coordination of the involved gold atom: the less it is coordinated, the stronger its nonconventional proton acceptor ability. The strongest F-H...Au bond is formed between a HF dimer and the singly coordinated gold atom of a T-shape Au4 cluster and is accompanied by a very large red shift (1023 cm(-1)) of the nu(F-H) stretch. Estimations of the energies of formation of the F-H...Au bonds for the entire series of the studied complexes are provided.  相似文献

A series of 2-pyridyl pyrazoles 1a and 1-5 with various functional groups attached to either pyrazole or pyridyl moieties have been strategically designed and synthesized in an aim to probe the hydrogen bonding strength in the ground state versus dynamics of excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) reaction. The title compounds all possess a five-membered-ring (pyrazole)N-H···N(pyridine) intramolecular hydrogen bond, in which both the N-H bond and the electron density distribution of the pyridyl nitrogen lone-pair electrons are rather directional, so that the hydrogen bonding strength is relatively weak, which is sensitive to the perturbation of subtle chemical substitution and consequently reflected from the associated ESIPT dynamics. Various approaches such as (1)H NMR (N-H proton) to probe the hydrogen bonding strength and absorption titration to assess the acidity-basicity property were made for all the title analogues. The results, together with supplementary support provided by a computational approach, affirm that the increase of acidity (basicity) on the hydrogen bonding donor (acceptor) sites leads to an increase of hydrogen-bonding strength among the title 2-pyridyl pyrazoles. Luminescence results and the associated ESIPT dynamics further reveal an empirical correlation in that the increase of the hydrogen bonding strength leads to an increase of the rate of ESIPT for the title 2-pyridyl pyrazoles, demonstrating an interesting relationship among N-H acidity, hydrogen bonding strength, and the associated ESIPT rate.  相似文献

Structural and electronic properties of hydrogen-bonded infinite chains of hydrogen cyanide and formamide molecules have been investigated by the ab initio crystal orbital method using several, partly highly polarized, atomic basis sets of increasing size at the Hartree–Fock (HF ) level and by including electron correlation effects in the second order of Møller–Plesset perturbation theory. The results obtained show that hydrogen bonding in molecular crystals of the type investigated is a highly cooperative phenomenon, both from the structural and energetic points of view. Comparison with clusters of up to four monomers demonstrate how various structural parameters converge toward their limiting values in the infinite system. The results obtained for infinite HCN chains show an excellent agreement with those observed for solid HCN, whereas the infinite formamide chain proves to be a reasonable model for the corresponding liquid phase. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Previous single-determinant Hartree-Fock studies on the equilibrium structures and stabilities of H2 O, H3 O+ as well as of the monohydrated ionic systems Li+ · H2O, F? · H2O and the hydrogen bonded water dimer, H2 O · HOH, are extended by large scale configuration interaction calculations including all the possible single and double excitations arising from the canonical set of Hartree-Fock molecular orbitals. The correlation energy effects on the equilibrium geometrical parameters of the systems under consideration are found to be quite small. The contributions of the correlation energy to the total binding energies of the weakly interacting composed systems are obtained to be of the order of 1 kcal/mole, leading to a considerable increase of the hydrogen bond strength in F? · H2O and H2O · HOH and to a small decrease of the binding energy in Li+ · H2 O. The observed strengthening of the hydrogen bonding interaction due to correlation is shown to be partly compensated by the change in the vibrational zero-point energy of the composed systems compared to the non-interacting subsystems. Approximate force constants corresponding to the intersystem vibrations in Li+ · H2O, F? · H2 O, and H2O · HOH are deduced from the calculated potential curve data on the SCF and the CI level of accuracy.  相似文献

The results are reported of a study of hydrogen bonding between various N-substituted caproamides and tetrahydrofuran as an O-electron donor by means of FTIR spectroscopy. The spectroscopic characteristics for N-H...O hydrogen bonded complexes are given. The B3LYP functional with 6–31G** basis set has been used to calculate the structural parameters of the studied hydrogen bonded complexes. It can be assumed that both inductive and steric effects play an important role in the stability of these hydrogen bonded complexes.  相似文献

The hydrogen bond N·HO between the water and ammonia molecules has been investigated ab initio using the SCF LCAO MO method. The minimal and extended basis sets of Slater type orbitals were used. It was found that the energy of the hydrogen bond is equal to 6.44 kcal/mole and the equilibrium separation of the oxygen and nitrogen atoms in the dimer is 5.72 au. At this intermolecular distance there is only one minimum in the potential energy curve for the motion of proton.  相似文献

Principal components analysis is used to display variations between batches of pyrograms of micro-organisms represented by sets of peak heights. Although it is not usually suitable for discriminating genus or species groups, it provides a means of detecting aberrant analyses, unsuspected trends in the data and of assessing reproducibility. It can also provide information relating specific peaks or sets of peaks to clusters of samples. These uses of principal components analysis are not confined to pyrolysis—gas—liquid chromatography; the technique can be applied widely to quantitative chromatographic and mass spectrometric data.  相似文献

We used UV resonance Raman (UVRR) spectroscopy to quantitatively correlate the peptide bond AmIII3 frequency to its Psi Ramachandran angle and to the number and types of amide hydrogen bonds at different temperatures. This information allows us to develop a family of relationships to directly estimate the Psi Ramachandran angle from measured UVRR AmIII3 frequencies for peptide bonds (PBs) with known hydrogen bonding (HB). These relationships ignore the more modest Phi Ramachandran angle dependence and allow determination of the Psi angle with a standard error of +/-8 degrees , if the HB state of a PB is known. This is normally the case if a known secondary structure motif is studied. Further, if the HB state of a PB in water is unknown, the extreme alterations in such a state could additionally bias the Psi angle by +/-6 degrees . The resulting ability to measure Psi spectroscopically will enable new incisive protein conformational studies, especially in the field of protein folding. This is because any attempt to understand reaction mechanisms requires elucidation of the relevant reaction coordinate(s). The Psi angle is precisely the reaction coordinate that determines secondary structure changes. As shown elsewhere (Mikhonin et al. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2005, 127, 7712), this correlation can be used to determine portions of the energy landscape along the Psi reaction coordinate.  相似文献

1.  3,6-Di-tert-butyl-o-quinone (I) forms both hydrogen-bonded and donor-acceptor complexes with 3,6-di-tert-butylpyrocatechol (II) and 3,5-di-tert-butylpyrocatechol (III) in CCl4, and n-hexane solutions. The concentrations of these two types of complexes are approximately equal.
2.  Photoreduction of quinone (I) at 77 K occurs in both the H-bonded and donor-acceptor complexes.
3.  A new mechanism has been proposed to account for radical formation and stabilization in mixed complexes with both H-bonding and donor-acceptor interactions.

Membrane lipids are active contributors to cell function as key mediators in signaling pathways controlling cell functions including inflammation, apoptosis, migration, and proliferation. Recent work on multimolecular lipid structures suggests a critical role for lipid organization in regulating the function of both lipids and proteins. Of particular interest in this context are the polyphosphoinositides (PPI's), especially phosphatidylinositol (4,5) bisphosphate (PIP 2). The cellular functions of PIP 2 are numerous but the organization of PIP 2 in the inner leaflet of the plasma membrane, as well as the factors controlling targeting of PIP 2 to specific proteins, remains poorly understood. To analyze the organization of PIP 2 in a simplified planar system, we used Langmuir monolayers to study the effects of subphase conditions on monolayers of purified naturally derived PIP 2 and other anionic or zwitterionic phospholipids. We report a significant molecular area expanding effect of subphase monovalent salts on PIP 2 at biologically relevant surface densities. This effect is shown to be specific to PIP 2 and independent of subphase pH. Chaotropic agents (e.g., salts, trehalose, urea, temperature) that disrupt water structure and the ability of water to mediate intermolecular hydrogen bonding also specifically expanded PIP 2 monolayers. These results suggest a combination of water-mediated hydrogen bonding and headgroup repulsion in determining the organization of PIP 2, and may contribute to an explanation for the unique functionality of PIP 2 compared to other anionic phospholipids.  相似文献

The structural characterization of molecular assemblies constructed from imidazolyl-containing haloalkenes and haloalkynes is reported. 1-(3-Iodopropargyl)imidazole (2) and 1-(2,3,3-triiodoallyl)imidazole (5) were synthesized from 1-propargylimidazole (1). In the solid state, these wholly organic modules self-assemble through N...I halogen-bonding interactions, thus giving rise to polymeric chains. The N...I interaction observed in 2 (d(N...I)=2.717 A, angle-spherical C(sp)-I...N=175.8 degrees) is quite strong relative to previously reported data. The N...I interaction in 5 (d(N...I)=2.901 A, angle-spherical C(sp2)-I...N=173.6 degrees) is weaker, in accordance with the order C(sp)-X<--base>C(sp2)-X<--base. Compound 5 was found to give a 1:1 cocrystal 4 with morpholinium iodide (6). In the X-ray crystal studies of 4, N...I halogen-bonding interactions similar to those observed in 5 were shown not to be present, as the arrangement of the molecules is governed by two interwoven hydrogen-bonding networks. The first network involves N-H...O interactions between nearby morpholinium cations, and the second network is based on N-H...N hydrogen bonding between morpholinium cations and imidazolyl groups. Both hydrogen-bonding schemes are charge-assisted. Halogen bonding is not completely wiped out, however, as the triiodoalkene fragment forms a halogen bond with an iodide anion in its vicinity (d(I...I)=3.470 A, angle-spherical C(sp2)-I...I=170.7 degrees). X-ray crystal studies of 6 show a completely different arrangement from that observed in 4, namely, N-H...O interactions are not present. In crystalline 6, morpholinium cations are interconnected through C-H...O bridges (d(H...O)=2.521 and 2.676 A), and the NH2+ groups interact with nearby iodide anions (d(H...I)=2.633 and 2.698 A).  相似文献

The hydrogen bonding and deprotonation processes between four ruthenium biimidazole complexes, namely [Ru(bpy)(2)(BiimH(2))](PF(6))(2) (1, bpy is bipyridine, BiimH(2) is 2,2'-biimidazole), [Ru(bpy)(2)-(BbimH(2))](PF(6))(2) (2, BbimH(2) is 2,2'-bibenzimidazole), and [Ru(bpy)(2)(DMBbimH(2))](PF(6))(2) (3, DMBbimH(2) is 7,7'-dimethyl-2,2'-bibenzimidazole) and [Ru(bpy)(2)(TMBbimH(2))](2+) (4, TMBbimH(2) is 5,6,5',6'-tetramethyl-2,2'-bibenzimidazole), and acetate are investigated. Their hydrogen bonded adducts are indeed trapped and observed by absorption spectra and electrochemical experiments in acetonitrile solution in the presence of an excess of acetic acid for the first time. The binding constants log K(B) for these adducts are 6.74 for 1·OAc, 7.11 for 2·OAc, 7.26 for 3·OAc, and 6.99 for 4·OAc. A new approach to calculate the deprotonation constant is also developed by establishing a set of circular equilibria. The equilibrium constants for the first deprotonation step of the complexes log K(A) are 2.74 for 1, 5.19 for 2, 4.54 for 3, and 3.78 for 4. The pK(a1) values of the complexes in acetonitrile solution are calculated by subtracting log K(A) from pK(a) (HOAc in acetonitrile), giving 19.6 for 1, 17.1 for 2, 17.8 for 3, and 18.5 for 4. The degree of proton transfer (D(PT)) can be quantified by the calculation of absorption spectral and redox data, which is 0.41 for 1·OAc, 0.53 for 2·OAc, 0.57 for 3·OAc, and 0.47 for 4·OAc. Interestingly, the binding constant log K(B) (7.26) and D(PT) value (0.57) both reach their maxima at a critical point, where pK(a1) for the complex is 17.8 and ΔpK(a) for the adduct is 4.5 (ΔpK(a) = pK(a)(HOAc) - pK(a1), in acetonitrile solution). Moreover, the binding constant log K(B) shows linear correlation with the degree of proton transfer D(PT).  相似文献

Two one-dimensional (1D) manganese complexes, [Mn(2)(naphtmen)(2)(L)](ClO(4))·2Et(2)O·2MeOH·H(2)O (1) and [Mn(2)(naphtmen)(2)(HL)](ClO(4))(2)·MeOH (2), were synthesized by using a bridging ligand with a nucleobase moiety, 6-amino-9-β-carboxyethylpurine, and a salen-type manganese(III) dinuclear complex, [Mn(2)(naphtmen)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](ClO(4))(2) (naphtmen(2-) = N,N'-(1,1,2,2-tetramethylethylene)bis(naphthylideneiminato) dianion). In 1 and 2, the carboxylate-bridged Mn(III) dinuclear units are alternately linked by two kinds of weak Mn···O interactions into 1D chains. As a result, canted antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic interactions are alternately present along the chains, leading to a 1D chain with non-cancellation of anisotropic spins. Since the chains connected via H-bonds between nucleobase moieties are magnetically isolated, both 1 and 2 act as single-chain magnets (SCMs). More importantly, this result shows the smaller canting angles hinder long-range ordering in favor of SCM dynamics.  相似文献

Making use of the invariant property of the equilibrium size distribution of the hydrogen bonding clusters formed in hydrogen bonding system of AaDd type, the analytical expressions of the free energy in pregel and postgel regimes are obtained. Then the gel free energy and the scaling behavior of the number of hydrogen bonds in gel phase near the critical point are investigated to give the corresponding scaling exponents and scaling law. Meanwhile, some properties of intermolecular and intramolecular hydrogen bonds in the system, sol and gel phases are discussed. As a result, the explicit relationship between the number of intramolecular hydrogen bonds and hydrogen bonding degree is obtained.  相似文献
